So you're saying the physics engine was improved for drifting, that this was the reason? You're wrong. I read the interview, too. The game is called the "real driving simulator", not the "real drifting simulator". Improved drifting is a side effect of improved physics. If the physics were improved for drifting specifically, then you'd have your drifting game. Why is it so hard to understand that drifting is an exhibition sport? It's like the Harlem Globe Trotters compared to real, competitive basketball. Don't get pissy because you're obsessed with style over substance. Sheesh.
