Pretty weird accident , a deer on a race track , don't they have fences or something?

Deer strike? More like car hit.

Stefan Johansson hit a deer at the old Osteriechring in 1987 but it was his front wheel that took the brunt of the impact.

Hope he gets better soon.

Road America is very much in the wilderness, and deer would very easily be able to jump the fences. The funny thing about deer is that they are so stupid, they will run into a car while trying to run away from it.

Yes, eight-feet tall chain link fences with barbed wire at the top circle the entire facility. Deer can jump. I have seen them jump a four foot fence from a standstill.

I know I have seen video of a rabbit strike once, but never a deer strike.

I'm sure they're out on You Tube somewhere. No time to look myself, I'm getting ready to leave work.

Somebody hit something during the Grand Am race at Watkins Glen last year.

Two pheasants had a close shave at Castle Combe the other week. Too stupid to fly away.

I believe it was a badger that was hit at Watkins last year. Da Matta was put in a coma by doctors (them fancy College folks, beyond my understanding) because of his injuries. All I have to say I hope he makes a full recovery. Aside from the near-fatal injuries it sucks because he ran well at San Jose and was looking real good.

I wish him to make a quick recovery and get into F1. Where he belongs.

I respectfully disagree. He belongs in Champ Car. That is where he's experienced all of his success. Plus, he doesn't deserve to be in a series where the sanctioning body jerks around with the rules creating needless rules and regs.
