First victory on N24 this week
Nqnd.jpg

Fun race. No without penalty unfortunately. I got stuck between a chaotic Ford GT in front, another car in between me and him and a pushy Argentinian behind. Recipe for distaster. The car in front was trying to avoid the Ford GT who was going all over the place. I'm trying to anticipate his reactions to the Ford not to hit him, while the Argentinian is pushing from behind trying to stick a nose in. It's the twisty section right at the start of the Nordschleife. I can't safely let the Argentinian pass to let him take out the cars in front of me. Result the car in front of me taps the Ford who is braking at the wrong spot, car in front of me instant slows and starts sliding, I tap him, get bumped by the Argentinian and that's 2 sec penalty for me. 2 corners later the Ford crashes as well as the Argentinian...

I get the lead in lap 2 as pole pits. (Pit takes about 21 seconds). He's obviously faster with fuel saving yet so far he's not close at the safe spots to pass. He picks the twisty section after the hairpin to attempt to pass and ends up with 3 sec penalty on top of the 1.8 he already had. So now I simply have to stick close and manage my fuel for the win.Should have picked a better spot to pass. I'll try my best to stay out of the way, but that fast succession of those left right corners, it just doesn't work.

Next race I got spun and bumped off at the end, finished 4th. Penalty system is so broken. The car that hit me twice and had me land in the grass right before you get onto the ngp section again got nothing.

There must be something wrong with my driving, for some reason I just dont like the Huracan. I have only used it in a daily at 1 track ever so far, at Fuji because it was the meta, again, , but after many laps qualifying laps I tried a different car and topped my best lap in less than 10 laps. No meta for me if it's the Huracan.

I'm the same with the Huracan, just don't like it. Feels heavy and unbalanced and doesn't really perform as a 4WD should for me. Plus it's ugly and has a bad cock-pit view.

Hey there GTP fam! I returned to Daily Races yesterday to mixed results. 4 races total, 2 good, 2 bad, all Race B's at Seaside II. Unfortunately the bad outweighs the good, but I did manage a decent qualy time of 1:47.2 after about 15-20 laps. I just lost some SR in the last two races and need to recover some this week before FIA. I'm still "S" but 92 is too close to that 2nd tier lobby for comfort.

Man, this course is tough in reverse. Once again I tried pretty hard to get a good time in something other than the Huracan or the TT, but all I could manage was a 48.0 in the Viper. After two laps in the Huracan I improved it by a few tenths, then chipped away after that. I hate these stupid meta cars, but they are meta for a reason I guess.

Shoutout to @Pigems for having the best time on my friends list. I'll try my best to catch you later this week, but by then I bet you'll be long gone in the top 10.

Thanks, and Nice work man! I’m sure it won’t be long until I’m back to chasing you again! Try the TT, I could barely get the Lambo under 48 yesterday but the TT just flies around that track for some reason. :)

@Pigems @Mistah_MCA 1:05.963 in the Mini, can I join the party or do I need to get closer? :p

I also posted a time of 8:13.594 at N24 in the Supra. Would that be good enough to join a midday race (read: no aliens) and get a decent grid start?

Great lap!! But you were already in!! ;)

Race B Part 1 - Grid P13 Race P8. Not bad except for an irritating Japanese rammer that kept taking on slower cars aggressively and causing havoc and penalties all over.

Part 2 - Grid P13 Race P11. The same rammer kept on with his antics till I pinged him as a friendly reminder of his aggressive driving.

SR? Not bothered by it, as long as I don't get pissed off and start ramming people out when I'm annoyed.

Did my first ever Sport Mode races yesterday - the Mini at Suzuka. Entered two, won two. First race I was on pole and set fastest lap as well.
First, I'm amazed that you won the only 2 Sport Races you've entered. I'm guessing you're a crazy alien

Second, you make me feel so bad about myself because I have 70 races and only 2 top 10 finishes, with my best being a 5th place finish.

Some of you people are so gifted! In truth, my goal is usually Top 10 and clean racing. I almost always succeed with the clean racing goal and almost always fail on the top 10 goal.

Podium is unattainable for me. I don't even dream about it

Anyway, congrats! Big time accomplishment

A few weeks ago when Autopolis was new I went into the daily race with 2 laps of experience and a qualy time 5s slower than next worse (never watched videos of races there or had a proper look at the map). After half a lap I was in the middle of a 3 wide at the hairpin going for a double overtake not knowing if the next corner was a left or right.

Well, everyone is different. I prefer to practice first by running a lot of hot laps if it's a track I'm unfamiliar with before heading out so I don't end up embarrassing myself or potentially causing problems to others. Other times I'll not qualify and race at the back like I did at Nord since I'd be the Grandma in the way of everyone.

I'm with you brotha!

I'm not good enough to go out and race against other live people unless I know the track fairly well.

I put in about 20-25 laps on Seaside before I entered Race B. I was pretty good in terms of staying on the track but I wasn't competitive at all.

In fact, I was pushed around a lot and dive bombed numerous times.

Oh am sorry, since I am rubbish trying to drive using manual as I find it too complicated as I only have a controller. Would you prefer if I just didn't play? If auto makes me slower perhaps you would prefer I continue using it so you can beat me if we are ever in the same race....

boy, kids are so sensitive these days...

I also use a DS4, and it's easy. Just try it, and after less than 2h it will feel normal. I don't give a damn if you are faster or slower than me as long you drive clean.
Do people drive automatic in england ? I thought only americans, germans and taxi drivers were using it

You drive whatever makes you enjoy the game... if it's driving auto? then that's just how it is 👍

Well that's it for me today i guess. Just not possible to have a clean race in race b ! It's punt city . Not really a wrecked fest ... Just punted off mid turn and ending up in the grass ... after the chicane .... After the downhill .... Etc. And trying to recover from last place, with dirty tires, on a 4 lap race is not an option.

On one occasion an American pushed me wide and gave me time to recover and regain position. Out off 5 or 6 occurances from different drivers .... :boggled::ouch:

As i suspected i was trash on the track last night. My best time in the mini was 1.06.9xx i think. Did considerably better this morning.

Pretty happy but also very frustrated that i couldn't hit that perfect lap to break under 6.xxx tried the b race and i just have issues with that track in reverse.....

Thank you, this is it!
it seems that it takes time to gradually filter through with your stats though. First time i viewed mine, it showed races going back to Feb 2018 - Oct 2018. Just now it's showing some races from last week, but then a gap back to Nov 2018?!?!

That's where I'm different, I have no problem embarrassing myself online. I think I finished last but learned a lot more racing than I would've hot lapping since you can see where people are braking and what lines they are taking. It was okay when I had somebody to follow but once I got isolated I got a bit lost.

As for Dragon Trail II I won't bother learning that since it's such an awful track.

I know the feeling. It was very hard for me to recover positions as well after being rammed into the wall after Bus Stop. Unless you're alien-tier, I think the race is effectively over. 4 laps indeed isn't enough to recover.

Lately I've been incredibly frustrated with the "Daily" races. It's not bad enough that they're ridiculously repetitive, but they keep choosing the track/car combos that I'm terrible at (GR. 3 and 4 at slow, twisty tracks, or tracks with an abundance of sharp hairpins i.e. Suzuka, Fuji, Tsukuba, Nurburgring GP). On top of that, in the B and C races, I'm more frequently matched up with "aliens" at the top of the leaderboard when I'm usually 2 seconds off the pace on "average" length courses (and that's at tracks I'm GOOD at). My DR and SR are where they've always been (low- to mid-A and S, respectively), but whereas I used to be mostly grouped with people who were at most 0.5s faster than me with occasionally 1 person who was way quicker, now I'm 1.5s off the fastest qualifier in the race, and at least 0.75s off of the podium. I finally bit the bullet and tried a couple of the "meta" cars at Suzuka Gr. 4 last week in qualifying, but I didn't set a better qualifying lap in them (I set a 2:09.9 in my 'Vette, which actually shocked me, but was still only good enough for midpack).

Currently I'm about 3 seconds off the pace at Dragon Trail Reverse, so I'm not expecting too much there right now. I'm usually good at the Nurburgring 24h, so I might try that today. I'm not expecting much.

I'd love for them to actually put some variety back in the selection; bring the ovals back into the rotation, as well as Gr. 1 (which I'm surprisingly good at, even managing a few wins on tracks I normally hate), open-wheel, and karts. Fortunately there's the update coming in a few days that'll bring the Super Formula cars in, so that'll guarantee we'll have at least 1 race with them in the coming weeks (even if it's likely we'll never see them come up again after that...). Anyone else have similar frustrations? I'm not expecting to win every race, but fighting to just stay in the top 10 (especially when there's less than 20 cars...) isn't fun.

Thanks Mr P as you say its only a game, I play it to relax.
I don't need to be worrying about the gears, for me its hard enough keeping the car on the black stuff as it is.
I consider myself an average to below-average racer. I'm not as young as I used to be and my reflexes aren't as good as they used to be.

I started using a controller and now I use a steering wheel.

You may wonder why I'm giving you my history and it's only to say this:

You may find that shifting actually makes you a better racer and actually gives you better control. A friend of mine who is a real life race car driver told me that when I started doing it, I would never go back to auto.

I was sure he was wrong and that he vastly overrated my abilities which I knew to be pedestrian.

To my surprise , i found out quickly that he was correct.

I mapped shifting up to flicking the right stick up and I mapped shifting down to flicking the right stick down.

I was instructed to go to a track that I'm comfortable with and take a few laps with shifting. I knew within the first two laps that I would never go back to auto

Shifting will help you control the car so much more. You've heard people talk about short-shifting to help them conserve fuel, and that is a big advantage. But, I find the greatest benefit is in braking and coming out of turns with better control and acceleration.

Yes.. all of those frustrations. Although i surprised myself at how much i enjoyed Tokyo last week once i got into it. Most of the time i'm dallying around QF sessions and thinking i can't be bothered entering the races.
Then i drift off thinking of the good old days when you were wondering what new races there were going to be tomorrow... absolute bliss!

Thanks, that Audi was working really well today. :)

Car 3, Lap 3 on the Nurb, GTR.... 8:29.9  I messed up really bad twice, once ended up in the sand just before the second carrousel and the other coming around the final corner I hit the grass and spun a bit coming into straight where the finish line is. I think this could be my car though, it’s really stable which makes it easy to drive down this bumpy @$$ track, it doesn’t seem to spin to easily either as long as you stay on the road.

Edit: I gave up on old Nurby for the night, I don’t have the patience she needs tonight. So I went back to DT, and I’m glad I did, shaved another 3 tenths off my time to a 1:46.9. :D

nice run Pigems, I just can't get the flow of this thing... I spent about 25 minutes and can't get better than 1.50, I'm horrible. Was using the 4C as I'm not a fan of the TT and the Ferrari which I use on the normal flow of this track wasn't liking the backwards bus stop.

I got mine down to 6.024 and 20 more laps and still couldn't find that little extra to get into the 5's. Although looking at some of the guys vids on here today it appears I am a little short on speed crossing the line as I drop into 2nd coming round the final bend when staying in 3rd looks like the best bet. Even more so without a shifter and clutch.

Getting closer.... shaved it to a .093 hopefully that time will get me some good racing this week. I gots to go to work now but it will be a short day me thinks. Hope to see some of ya on track tonight.

As a side... when i was using manual on a controller mapping the shift to the right stick was the only way i could do it. Also as a person who has always had at least one manual car at a time in my life since i started driving, it has very little to do with being able to it in game. For some of us it is a physical issue not a mental one.... i need to feel the car, in real life i never look at my tach or speedo, and although i dont go to the track i do drive quite hard when the time is right. I also learned to drive in a civic with NO tach at all lol

The site has been resurrected only recently. It's a one man project and @jasguer is working hard on it to get it all rolling again. The server has been off a long time and some results will be gone by now. PD doesn't store everything, so if the server hasn't polled it while it was available, then it's gone.

Very first practice lap of the morning improved my Race A QT by a little to 1:06.328, .05 sec faster than yesterday. But all laps after that were slower. Funny how that works.

Got 2 races in at Suzuka East this morning. A 3rd and 4th finish. 2 Clean bonuses. Got my SR/DR back from yesterday/last week. Very clean around me.
