Seaside II - clip the wall and lose 4 tenths, nail the hairpin and gain 3 tenths, miss the apex on the esses and lose 6 tenths, smash the final chicane and we're back on track! Every lap i'm losing and gaining in loads of different places, which i can imagine is going to cause utter mayhem when i come to race. Got a 1:47.8xx in the bag but there's scope for more. TT, Scirocco and Megane all pretty similar times but not looking forward to getting on the grid :boggled:

I put a half decent lap together and dropped what was going to be a high 1.46 into the wall at the final chicane because I tried to scratch my foot thinking I could do it one handed!! So I am stuck with my low 1.48 until tonight. I am finding the same issue as you its is easy to gain loads (and lose loads) of time on the same lap.

Races, as long as you are quick through the bus stop and carry enough speed towards the hairpin, you should be ok. Although T1 is a lottery as usual.

That’s one way to ruin a Q lap that I’ve never heard of before   At least now you know you’re capable of a high 1:46 👍

It was really really itchy :lol:!

The plus thing about last night was something that happened without me even realizing it.

I was running practice laps in the Huracan, now a month ago, I couldn't even press the accelerator with no TC in that car to spin it. However, after a few laps I thought "hmm this feels ok, I will try lowering the TC", and when I went into the settings it was already turned off, last time I was driving it I must have been experimenting, so I had been driving around for about 20 minutes with no TC that whole time which just shows how much my car control has improved without me realizing. I just need to put the speed to it now.

So pretty much anything under group 3, I can handle with no TC which is a major moment for me :cheers:.

Did some tests on green hell(hards no stop):
Atenza: feels heawy, a lot of torque which can burn tires fast.
R8: to low, flies to easy.
AMG: good!

Will try to today mediums with one stop.

After a frustrating week of loosing SR on tokyo, I Just got reset thanks to a dirty german that was brake checking me and pushing me aside whenever he messed up and I could pass. I think I won't race Nurb anymore this week. its a great track to hotlap, but horrible to race due to the narrow aspect of it. unless its a top level room, its not even worth it.

well, now that I got downgraded to DR-C, its time to race using cars that are not up to pace and have a relaxed fun.

i don't want to rain on your parade, but i'm sure they adjusted the handling of the Huracan in one of the updates. So now any idiot can drive it :lol: (joking!!)
I'm probably similar driving level to you then - any Gr4 is no problem and i'm gradually getting to grips with the Gr3 with TC0, but there's a definite difference between handling across the range of cars available. I was QF at Interlagos last week in the 911RSR and was way too slow with TC0 but trying a few of the other cars i found them much easier to keep control of. Just got to keep at it i guess.

Done some practice and qualifying in all the daily races last night. Race A feels pretty good and managed a 1.06.02 without too much trouble. Dragon Trail in reverse is not my cup of tea and prob wont race there but managed a 1.49.5 in the WRX but i'm practically learning a new track. For Race C at the ring I decided to stick with the Mustang after Interlagos and after a couple of laps did an 8.20. I then tried the McLaren just for the sake of it but was about 6 seconds slower despite it feeling much much faster. I'll prob just run the Mustang on the mediums and and see how I get on with fuel saving before trying a 0 stopper but I am just looking forward to racing there. Gr 3 has recently been a nightmare class for me on the wheel, but since Mt.Panorama I have started to dial it in properly.

Tried C twice and ran out of fuel, trying to no stop on hard tires, am using auto gears so struggling a lot, what car is the least thirsty? I tried the Amg and Lexus...
Dusted off the Jag for the net run, wish me luck....
Not sure it can be done without using manual? Not managed to run the full distance yet, lol.

What fuel mix were you using?

And yeah, without being able to short-shift, I’m not sure it’s doable using auto.

Not sure the Ring is the best place to learn manual gears and master short shifting, guess its one stoppers for me.

Has anyone got a lag spike from someone disconnecting? Someone was behind me and all of a sudden a player two positions ahead disconnects and sent everyone in a lag and I got the worst of it by the person behind me ramming me with no intention.

The game always hangs/stops for a split second when someone disconnects. When it happens mid corner or during braking it can easily screw me up. Not as bad though as when someone quits right in front of you and briefly become a slow obstacle until the car disappears.

The least thirsty can be found here
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gran-turismo-sport-fuel-consumption-list-tire-usage.372334/

From my own tests on Mount Panorma the least thirsty were
30.280 Hyundai Genesis (48% Fuel)
30.347 Mazda Atenza (48% fuel)
30.347 Honda NSX (48% fuel)
30.380 Ferrari Italia 458 (48% fuel)
30.698 Lexus RC F GT3 (51% fuel)
(Those are pit times from refueling and how much they needed to complete the race)

I prefer the Lexus, has nice 'active' handling and makes it easily in FM2 (FM1 on the straight) with short shifting. Perhaps I'll do some tests in AT to see how much each car uses on the N24. Will be fun to run in mediums for a while. Although drafting / getting stuck behind people has a big influence of fuel use, not sure how useful it will be. The difference in the Lexus can be as large as 15% fuel use over 2 laps without adjusting my fuel strategy. Some races I'm practically coasting waiting for a chance to pass, shifting to 6th very early not to run into the back of cars.

@Vegard messaged me that the McLaren is pretty good on fuel use. I see people struggling a lot with that car on N24 though. AMG GT3 was doing well yesterday, stop or no stop. Short shifting is key, MT really helps in the race this week.

You could try braking earlier and rolling the corners, but I don't know that it would be enough. You'll save tires doing that too.

Some guys are doing great with the F1. I find it tricky and prefer the Porsche. Like you I really like the Lexus, but I can't match the Porsche's pace on this track. I wonder if they'd match up in race trim because of the fuel saving though. Hmm, worth a try.

I’ve managed a no stop on Race C using the Viper. RH and fuel mix of 5 with short-shifting. I think FM4 is doable as I had .3 laps of fuel by race end. Tyres were absolutely fine.

Lol that was one race getting away from SR.S. Yep I make mistakes as well, and normally don't capitalize on them. As I said before, that race was a write off, nothing like serious racing was going on there.

I just had a race with the 2 dirtiest drivers in a while. Every time I passed them, rammed again at T1 then bump passed. I pass them again after they screw up the bridge, only to get rammed again at the hairpin. 3 laps in a row. There was no need for any 'revenge' as the penalty system was working correctly. I didn't get any penalties, blue SR. I simply passed them cleanly again and again while they chose to get more penalties. One crossed the line with over 22 sec on the clock and dropped to SR.D. They cost me 2nd place though who was driving around with 15 sec in penalties. However the 2 fun drivers kept slowing me down. Still got the fastest lap from earlier in the race.

Aplogies to Argentina, you do have great drivers. Next to me the only other driver in the room without a red dot and blue SR was an Argentinian. Respect.

Btw, here's a bit of my race history
Nknd.jpg

The -25 SR, 11th place finish, was the race with you.

What I am guilty off is not treating the game all that serious. With an average of 13 races a day, how long do you think I dwell on one particular race. It's pretty easy to gauge the mood of a room when you race a lot.
Where can I pull a report like that for myself? I haven’t found anything like it on Kudos Prime.

but not looking forward to getting on the grid :boggled:

I made that mistake. I could tell opposing drivers were having difficulty with the layout which is understandable but I always think if you're not yet comfortable with a track, don't race on it. I decided I'll race there later in the week when hopefully most people will be more accustomed to the track and I'm not on the receiving end of their mistakes :banghead:.

well this is why i started a 2nd account, so i can 'have a go' without worrying about destroying my DR. Might sound like i don't give 2 hoots about other drivers, but i'll still always drive as clean as i possibly can (honest )

Oh no, I don't mean you personally. I was referring to the drivers in my races who didn't seem very comfortable on the track especially from Bus Stop up to the next hairpin where I was unfortunate to be caught in the chaos. I'm not perfect myself and have already made mistakes by braking too early down the first hill and at the corner after the next uphill but compared to the mistakes I've seen from others, they're pretty minor.

A few weeks ago when Autopolis was new I went into the daily race with 2 laps of experience and a qualy time 5s slower than next worse (never watched videos of races there or had a proper look at the map). After half a lap I was in the middle of a 3 wide at the hairpin going for a double overtake not knowing if the next corner was a left or right.

@Pigems @Mistah_MCA 1:05.963 in the Mini, can I join the party or do I need to get closer? :p

I also posted a time of 8:13.594 at N24 in the Supra. Would that be good enough to join a midday race (read: no aliens) and get a decent grid start?

Once you really get used to driving without TCS you will drive every car with no TCS. In fact if you try turning it back on you will ask yourself how you ever drove with TCS on in the first place. Somehow your foot automatically learns to not squeeze the accelerator too hard with the wheels turned without even thinking about it, unless of course it's an AWD car. :D:D

Hey there GTP fam! I returned to Daily Races yesterday to mixed results. 4 races total, 2 good, 2 bad, all Race B's at Seaside II. Unfortunately the bad outweighs the good, but I did manage a decent qualy time of 1:47.2 after about 15-20 laps. I just lost some SR in the last two races and need to recover some this week before FIA. I'm still "S" but 92 is too close to that 2nd tier lobby for comfort.

Man, this course is tough in reverse. Once again I tried pretty hard to get a good time in something other than the Huracan or the TT, but all I could manage was a 48.0 in the Viper. After two laps in the Huracan I improved it by a few tenths, then chipped away after that. I hate these stupid meta cars, but they are meta for a reason I guess.

Shoutout to @Pigems for having the best time on my friends list. I'll try my best to catch you later this week, but by then I bet you'll be long gone in the top 10.

There must be something wrong with my driving, for some reason I just dont like the Huracan. I have only used it in a daily at 1 track ever so far, at Fuji because it was the meta, again, , but after many laps qualifying laps I tried a different car and topped my best lap in less than 10 laps. No meta for me if it's the Huracan.

Just one of those days. After the battering I got yesterday I just didn't have the motivation to race online. I did la Sarthe a couple of times with the Red Bull Standard.. something very satisfying about crossing the line at 340kph ;) (yeh, against the AI I'm a hooligan :dopey:). My hands were not happy, but looking up and seeing that SR/A kinda irked me :grumpy:. I did a @Sven Jurgens at DTSII. Went in with the Trophy, it's a "safe" car whwn you don't remember how a car handles on a track. At least familiarity with the track wasn't an issue, they have run the reverse course enough times in the past for me to remember :D.

The grid was a mix of DRs, mostly DR/A for the first 4 places. SR was a mix of A and B. I was being ultra conservative feeling out the first lap, then started to open her up. I had gained a few places without really trying. Lap 3 I stuffed up the bus stop. It was an easy flow through, but something was sticking out more than I thought and when I clipped it, I spun. Back to the back for me as I hunted down the pair in front. I figured I was faster than them and stood a good chance of at least not finishing last.

I got past one of them, and the guy in front of him was carrying a penalty, so up another place for me. I lost nearly 600 DR but clawed back another 4 SR, enough to get a toe hold on SR/S :scared:. Day 5 loitering in DR/C.

You shouldnt be using auto in any racing game.
It is easy, you just have to listen to the engine or/and look at the rev.
Example of benefits : I started 4th in my first mini race yesterday and I couldn't understand how I passed 2 cars just in the start straight.
They were using auto.

Manual shifting improves your grip, acceleration, braking and allows you to regulate your fuel consumption independently of the fuel map.
