Excellent. Now if they'll just get rid of the piling on penalty for putting two wheels off and losing it... I'm pretty sure going off is enough penalty in itself.

Either SR Down or a time penalty. Every off road excursion should be penalized as it creates dangerous situations for other drivers. Step one of clean driving is learning to drive within your abilities and stay on the road.

There are situations where you have to leave the road to avoid other cars. It would be nice if the game could recognize this, yet far more often it's people pushing the car too hard causing problems. (And forcing the car behind to go off road to avoid)

I would have just won the N24 race if penalty zones were implemented. Instead aggressive driving got rewarded again. I was in third, all close together. First had a 2 sec penalty flashing. However 2nd was pushing too hard, wobbling through the last few corners to the straight slowing me down. He went off, so no draft either with first now 1.2 sec ahead. That allowed first enough of a gap to scrub his penalty before the finish. No more!

That's logical, I never put it in those terms. I was just thinking of the penalty added to the time lost when missing a braking marker. Seems like insult to injury, but I can see where you're coming from too.

Another thing that needs to go is the yellow flag penalties. I just got robbed of a win on N24 due to incurring a 3 sec penalty in T1 when the car in front of me spun out, triggered the yellow flag, and while not passing anyone, the positions jumped around due to the geometry of the corner, making the game believe I passed someone. 3 sec penalty and not far enough ahead to bother scrubbing. Fastest lap it is.

With penalty zones, the incorrect yellow flag penalties will be much worse.... Shouldn't the car that causes the yellow flag get the penalty instead?

I dunno, on Nurb 24 I just spent some time for qual hotlap fun...
I think I was 8:28? I wouldn’t race on it. I don’t feel comfortable enough, don’t know the line etc.

See, you're on the right track already.

For some reason I can’t stomach turning on the line and cones etc. For me it’s no fun that way, and by far on tracks I know when I turn them on I am slower.

There's no shame in having the cones and markers on. I use them. Plenty of fast people use them. They help. End of story. At the very least, you'll know more or less where to stop.

I think it's a lot of BS machismo that drives a negative sentiment towards them. They're awesome. I whole heartedly support them.

So if I say people slower than 8:30 should not race it, but you are at 8:28 and admittedly feel that you are not ready to race it, that's a harsh statement toward you? It seems like you are pretty much agreeing with me.

There was a race about some time ago ... a GR3 one ... I haven't raced the track since ... but a few weeks after those lines were announced, they were in that series of races ... I never got a penalty so did not experience it, but I saw cars having to pull over ... but it only happened in that one race ... I need to check which circuit it was. Anyway I am glad ... it will surely make the bashers think twice. And no more pulling up before the finish, or blocking on corners to get rid of penalties, or ghosting on and off etc. Do the crime, pay with time, straight away.

Just noticed the race C next week which I think is safe to assume it will be the super formula..

‘Boost’ has been set to off.... does this mean there will be no overtake mode?

Its good that they seem to be attempting to solve the issues people who want to race fair are having.

I also think that if you spite crash and then rage quit, you should have a couple of hours sin bin. I was in a race last night where I started 8th, start of second lap the guy on pole had been bumped down to 5th, and I cleanly passed him into the corner following the bus stop, he followed me up the esses, then didn't bother breaking into the hairpin, hit me so far into the grass I went from 5th to last, and he immediately quit the race. (either that or DQ'd I'm not sure how it works)

He'd obviously been knocked around and took it on me, but he shouldn't have been allowed to immediately re enter another race.

In fact I think sin bins for resets are a good idea in general!

Yesterday was a terrible day. Did Nations race, started sixth, got pushed into oblivion.

I still don't understand how I managed to get 47.2. Got a friend who's S/S and he put 46.8
I just don't get it. It's like I'm re learning the track every day. One day I'm doing the bus stop basically flat out and the other I can't stop crashing.
I just can't understand how being drunk on the first day on a track I've never raced before gets me the fastest lap I'll get in the week probably.
I'd be a terrible race driver, my head is not strong enough. No other way to explain such inconsistency.
Gonna keep trying with TCS disabled on time trials and enabled on the race just so I don't crash on bus stop :D (It's more like, dynamic TCS, I'll keep changing the setting depending on which corner I'm at)

FINALLY! Beat my previous time by .006. It's basically nothing but it's a moral victory for me!
I can easily see where I could've gained more time and more importantly, I got a replay to work with now. You can see how I switch TCS settings on the go which has helped a lot.
Like when I'm entering a tricky corner I'll have it enabled but if I see I'll get a good exit I'll just turn it off

Three races today. Started 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The first one was going great as I was leading for more than a lap, but bottled it on lap 2 to finish P2 :( The second one was a very close battle against the same guy from Spain for the lead and it ended in tears as he lost control of his car in the final braking zone and sent us both into the wall, demoting us to P2 and P3 :( I accepted his apology of course, since I'm not one to hold grudges and I knew he wasn't at fault (plus he had sweet Mild Seven liveries on his 911 and Aston so he's forgiven :D) but I was naturally bummed to have been robbed of a great victory. I had time for one more race and I wanted to win it badly.

The grid was daunting. The polesitter in a Red Bull AMG GT3 was an Austrian member of the SS whom I've seen on YT numerous times. Behind him, a Finn in another AMG GT3 with the default livery this time, a Spaniard in a Supra and me in my AMG GT3 in Petronas colors. The extremely laggy Spaniard was quickly out of the equation, spinning out while exiting T2 (it looked like I pulled a PIT on him, but I didn't touch him on my screen and the game apparently registered no contact). So it was an AMG train in the first three positions. The gaps fluctuated around 0.5-1s from car to car for much of lap 1, with me occasionally dropping back and catching back up. The Finn made a mistake towards the end of the lap so I went through into 2nd place, but it cost us quite a bit of time; the Austrian had pulled a 2.4s lead. Both of them saved fuel on Döttinger Höhe, the Finn staying behind me and the Austrian losing some ground up front. I started lap 2 2 seconds down in second place. I evidently had more fuel than the leader, as I had been saving fuel in the slipstream on the first lap. This allowed me to close in to 1.1s by the time we were 1/3 of the way through the Nordschleife. Then the Finn, who was suddenly on my rear bumper, got all sorts of dirty and shoved me into the grass multiple times leading up to Mutkurve. I had to let him past and the Austrian was now 1.5s ahead. After the carousel, the Finn cut a corner and divebombed the Austrian, only to fail miserably and slam into the wall, with a 5 second penalty for his efforts. I reclaimed second place and at that point I had to put the pressure on. The gap gradually came down with both of us making a few minor mistakes. Entering Döttinger Höhe again, I was 0.8s back... now I'll just let this video speak for itself.

This final overtake could have gone wrong in so many ways! I literally screamed "YEEEET" as I crossed the line for win #37! :D Fastest lap with an 8:23, clean race bonus, DR peaked again at 45533!

I also had a great race with @GOTMAXPOWER the other night.
He started P1 in his AMG GT3 and I was P2 in the Supra. He quickly opened up a comfortable gap and it looked like I would have to settle for P2 so I started fuel saving. The gap had grown to 5.5 seconds by the time we were coming onto the Nordschleife on lap two. Suddenly I gained 1.5 seconds.
I figured he'd had an off and that he'd start pulling away again but I gradually crept up on him and at this stage I could smell the blood in the water. After he served a penalty before the right hairpin preceding the Karusell the gap was under two seconds. But then I blew it coming into Brunnchen. I put my left rear on the grass and had to reduce my speed to keep it on track. I lost 1 second there.
On the last straight I got to within 1.2 seconds but I had to back off or I would have run out of fuel.

It was a fun race and I hope to see you on track again @GOTMAXPOWER

Edit: here's how it looked from my perspective:

That was a fun race, I was convinced that you were about to win the race because you were closing the gap so fast. I had pushed quite hard at the start and the front tyres were struggling. I made a mistake at Hohenrain-Schikane at the end of lap 1 too, there is an access road on the left which you need to use to open up the right hander but I went too far to the left and whacked the wall so hard I was expecting a 5 second penalty.

At the start of the second lap I ran wide onto the grass with understeer which is where the penalty came from, I would normally wait until the final straight to take it but I figured you would close the gap to nothing between the two karussell's and my best chance to get the win would be to draft back past along Dottinger Hohe. It was a bit of a relief when you slowed down at the end. I look forward to the next one!

Will this be the only place on track you can scrub yourpenaltys? For example if you slow up elsewhere i assume your penalty time wont go down until this specific point.

It should be the same as FIA races. The system will automatically slow you down in penalty zones to burn them. Manually slowing down outside penalty zones won't burn the penalty. This is a good thing because it prevents people from ghosting then unghosting in awkward areas of the tracks which cause a lot more problems to others.

risky joke
Nice overtake. kinda weird to see a good driver using assists on an easy Gr3 car though
I tried it without CSA on Wednesday... it didn’t work out  Perhaps I’ll be able to drive without assists when I eventually get a wheel. About the joke, I’ve heard it many times before so I thought it was safe. If anyone is offended by it, I apologize. :)

I raced in C twice last night. One good, one not so good, because of other drivers. I was in the Vette again. No qualify, no assists except ABS. Best overall time yet with a 17:44. Started 15 of 18, finished 6th. Had 5th in the bag, but I spun on that sharp left about halfway through the last lap. I never said racing with no assists wasn't challenging! Anyways, I lost 2 spots, but quickly got 1 back (McLaren). Couldn't catch the draft, but did make up most of the 2 seconds I was behind going into the final set of corners. I've improved there a lot. I finished less than a second behind 5th. The other race I got spun around backwards at T2 by a guy who went wide in T1 and didn't like that I hit the apex and got by him. The whole first lap was ruined by a McLaren that could barely keep it on the road, and could keep up mainly because he used everyones bumper for brakes. I finally got around him late in the first lap, and got some distance, but that lap was maybe 9 1/2 minutes, so 11th was the best I could do. I'll qualify Sunday to see how much speed I've found, but I'm finding that if the room is pretty clean I get into the top 7 or 8 pretty early, which makes me happy because those guys qualified with times around 8:15 to 8:20 usually. I still haven't broken 8:50 in a race.

I agree with every single word here.

I'm an average racer but extremely clean. I would NEVER fail to break properly for turn 1 and yet I have chosen NOT to even attempt this race this week. Why?

I've been away from GTS for several months.

I haven't put in the requisite time and laps at this track to be comfortable enough to NOT ruin another's person's race. My personal mantra is to be considerate of others.

I'm not talking about staying away from this track and race because I can't win it. I'm just as happy with a clean race where I gain a position or 2 and feel exhilarated. My goal is always Top 10 and my stretch goal is Top 5

I'm talking about respecting the track and the other racers enough to put in far more time before I join the grid.

Maybe next time it comes around I'll be ready.

FANTASTIC POST, Vood

Ok. I'm venting.

The Nurburgring (24hr) appeared in this game with GT5. That's 2010. Now, let's forget for a moment that the Nurb showed up in GT in 2005. Let's forget that it was in Tourist Trophy. Let's focus on 2010.

it's 2019.

How in the (I'm censoring myself) is it possible, that in NINE YEARS since the introduction, or even in the 18 months since GTS was released, people STILL cannot clue in to STOP for the first corner? Does it come as a shock EVERY TIME? And how does that work exactly? "Hmmmm....I wonder what's at the end of this pit straight. There should be a corner around here somewhere. I vaguely recall...OH THERE IT IS!"

SCREEECH!!! BOOOM!! CRASH!! SCREEECH!!!

it's the start of a 17+ minute race and this is the FIRST thing that you need to do after the start, because you are already on the throttle before the race starts. ONE job. Don't crash at the FIRST CORNER. Never mind that there are constant reminders to NOT CRASH AT THE FIRST CORNER.

Also "I hate this track" is the sentiment that should indicate to yourself to not participate in this event. I'd go so far as to say that if your qualifying time is more than 8:25, consider trying again. Consider a little practice so that you know where the corners might be. At 8:30+...just don't. Try again. I actually respect the folks with no time a little more because they know that they will gain positions through the mistakes of the others.

Yes, yes, I know, it's a big track with a lot of corners, but it's also an iconic track that should be somewhat known to anyone who likes racing, in the same way that people who love the NFL know who Joe Namath is, or how soccer fans know Diego Maradona. This is a track for the faithful. Only the faith need apply. Or, just learn the FIRST CORNER!

But seriously...NINE YEARS...NINE.....YEARS. ....9......

So, for those who haven't qualified at the front of the pack, just wait. Hang back. Benefit from the failure of others. If there was ever a track that did not have a "golden lap" this is the one. If someone is ahead of you, they are better than you. If someone is 10 seconds faster in qualifying, dive bombing them is not the tactic to take. This is a race craft track. Pace yourself. Conserve your fuel.

Oh, and if you are pitting for tires and fuel, you are doing it wrong. This is a NO STOP race. Going for broke and a 1 stop strategy is just annoying. I understood this happening on Monday. We didn't know. I made that same mistake, but, it's now Thursday. If you aren't on the front row, 1 stop isn't going to benefit you.

Oh, and stop for the first corner.

I feel better now....somewhat

I danced with the dragon some more last night and this morning. Just hot laps still as i can barely do 3 laps without destroying myself in the bus stop or the turn after it. I have got my time down to a 48.6xx i think it was. Can't remember, i was so pissed by the time i stopped, that track in reverse is atrociously awkward i find.

Ran a lap and a half at the ring in the viper for kicks. It was chaos lol i kept it on the road but was all over the place and slow as f... but it put a smile on my face after the torture i forced upon myself on the dragon.

Happy friday, hope to see some of yous on the track tonight, I'll be doing the mini race if i get on cuse it's the only one i feel safe with lol

Hey guys, what's the link for the kudosprime next week races so I don't have to keep asking?

Just noticed the race C next week which I think is safe to assume it will be the super formula..

‘Boost’ has been set to off.... does this mean there will be no overtake mode?
Nah, Boost is when you're running way behind the rest and the game buffs you a bit to catch up with the rest of the pack. It's completely unrelated to the new overtake modes.

I've ditched the Supra and reunited with an old friend, the Corvette.
I had forgotten how much I like to drive this car and it's great to back on track in it.

It's fast, it sounds good, it's great at fuel saving and it looks stunning with this livery.

First race of the day ended with a victory and a fastest lap of 8:21.9 (lap1).
The second lap was a bit scruffy and I had to do some heavy fuel saving towards the end but still got a new PB of 16:44.196.

Kaz: “The settings for the Daily Races are done by the Operations Team within Polyphony Digital,” explains Yamauchi. “They are the ones that come up with the events, so I will give that feedback to them!”

Yeah. Sure.

So there are actual people controlling these settings? Why the monotonous track/car selections then? Back when the changes were ACTUALLY occurring DAILY, they didn't have trouble with making with making unique combinations, even though they had to do it far more often. Why the repetitiveness recently?

Yeah I should not do race C. Ever. I'm that guy that qualifies at 9:58. Oof. I only spun once too. Plus side I bought F1tv.

GTS companion has it 3651st in the region.

Maybe some secret Propaganda plan to make Japan great again. :dunce:

I like the livery. I'm running mine as Old Glory... The stars up front and the stripes over the rear. Nice total time. I'm getting there, but it's tough maintaining that pace and fuel saving. Too bad I need to go to work the next three days... I really like this race!

@DaddyDaFoe_ Great to see you one here. That race where you were chasing me was one of the more memorable this week. I don't usually get chased, I mostly do the chasing. Great fun for a change especially with a great clean driver! I lifted a bit early on the final approach as I was running on fumes, you were pushing me hard :)

@Vegard I see you are back to the Supra :mischievous:
