Heres my top ten lap, its 3rd EMEA currently and i think 4th world, it won't stay there i think, unlike the SF19 this car really doesnt seem to click with me, must be a driving style thing or something, just feels like endless understeer. Much prefer the NSX

1:36.350 with an optimum in the .1xx

Most excellent lap Sir, very well done.

It’s definitely fun to start at the back on this combo, that was a lot of fun last night. I’m thinking about trying the NSX today to see it it’s easier on tires, it’s raining again so I’ve got the day off and lots of time to kill lol. I always did suck at Gr2 before, I don’t know where this consistency/speed has come from, I guess I’m improving lol. I was in such a groove last night, I had the throttle control down so well, I hope it’s still there today. I can’t wait to get back out there! Will you be out today? I didn’t care for the liveries at first either but they are fun, I wish I knew how to make my own stickers though. :)

@Invisigoth got me into Inkscape. You can make and convert stickers with that. (free download) The hard part is getting each sticker under the 16kb limit or split things up. I googled 'minimalist mononoke' and 'minimalist ghibli' to get some images that were simplified already. Then used the trace bitmap option to turn it into colored layers of vector graphics, and then went around deleting obscured paths, simplifying polygons, cleaning up small stuff etc etc until after an hour or tow I finally got it under 16kb. Then you can simply upload the resulting svg files to gt sport.

For example, source image
monoke4.png

Isolated with paint shop pro
monoke4b.png

Converted to 8 layer color scans. Then simplified and split into two svg files.

What I find weird in the livery editor is, why does it make us go through all this trouble to make pristine vector graphic images (which always stay sharp when zooming) just to get a blurry bitmap when you zoom in on it on the car :banghead: Maybe it's just in the editor, don't really notice it in the game.

Thanks for the info man, I would probably need a relatively modern computer to be able to do that stuff eh? My laptop is 10+years old now and hasn’t even been turned on in months lol, is it possible to do any of this from an iPad/iPhone?

Seeing as it takes hours of work for just one sticker, it makes all the really detailed liveries that much more impressive, wow. Great work guys!

You want to use a decent screen and a mouse. The computer doesn't really matter. I use Paint shop pro 4.12 from 1991, and Inkscape doesn't look very taxing either. You're working with small files.

You can also try making them with basic shapes and letters directly in the livery editor. Can't re-use all your hard work if you go that route, afaik.

I'll probably be doing a couple races in a bit. I have yard work to do but it's 3 degrees and about to start raining. I'll postpone it :)

Edit: Didn't see you in the starting grid, so I quit to make a livery for the Motul Au-tech, meta car thingie.

Had one good race followed by three rough ones this morning. Had all the fast guys up front and some jerks at the back, i was start 5/6 right behind patrick_bhr. I dont even want to get into it, but it was not fun. Skipping the next one to make another coffee. Hope to get a better crowd after...

Race cars still scare me... :nervous:

I was thinking it might be a better idea to race with something that doesn't gobble up its tyres quickly.

I still don't know which tyres or car I'll use so I might throw logic out the window and be the black sheep in the Xanavi again. If I remember right from Autopolis, its tyre conserving was better than the GT-R's for me and I prefer to drive it so that's a bonus.

What car is that(Xanavi)? Are you saying the NSX chews tires quickly/worse than the GTR? I’ve only driven it in Q laps so I have no clue how it is on tires lol. 5 lap stints on Mediums wasn’t bad last night in the Newer GTR, I was using TCS 2 to help a bit with tire wear as well.

Awesome, so maybe my computer illiterate @$$ can actually do this.

Laps aren’t going well this morning so far, no magic today haha. I’ll be out soon. :)

Edit: Just missed this race, I’ll be in the next one.

No worries, I had cones turned off to start and was messed up anyways lol. Had to pause after I spun out and turn them back on. I don’t even use them here but I just like having them on for some reason.

A question about cones...... I had them on learning tracks, left them on for no good reason, switched them off and improved. Just switched them back on to see how aliens are getting such hot lap times in the Daily Races. Did a Gr.1 League Race (haven't done since update) today, braked at the cones in an upgraded (to the max) Jag XJR-9 and went flying into the wall!

I thought the cones were placed to match the car, but it seems not?

As an experiment, I did a time trial at the red Bull Ring in the Jag and then a Samba Bus, about as opposite as you can get. The braking cones are in exactly the same place.... if I were to brake in the Samba Bus at the cones I would come to a full stop long before I reached the corner!

The question is, how are the cones placed (for braking) and how should they be used? Sorry if this is wrong thread but it's the thread where cones are mentioned most!

Trying out the Motul after a hasty livery job. NSX on pole, fast room. Must be a lot of roofers at home because of the rain :)

Just use them as a rough guide, each car may have to brake before, at or after them, it depends how you brake too, trail braking lets you hit the brakes later because you hold them longer into the turn and straight line braking requires braking earlier. But every car is different, just figure out where you need to start braking relative to the cones for each car and then find a point on/off the track that matches that spot. :)

How well you came out of the last corner plays a roll too, sometimes you have more speed then others when entering the same braking zone and this needs to be compensated for as well.

The most important part of braking is not when to hit them though, it’s where you start to release them, this point needs just as much attention, if not more than the initial braking point, this point shouldn't fluctuate nearly as much if you’re doing it right. :)

The Xanavi is the older Nissan. '08 model. I was comparing its tyre wear to the newer Nissan GT-R. No idea about the NSX with regards to tyres.

Does using AT also help with tyre wear?

Ah ok, thanks. I don’t know about AT, I think it would slow you down, I feel like there are quite a few shifts that need to done at specific times to keep maximum momentum and traction on this track.

I've tried to upload decals, and for whatever reason, it never worked. It does take a lot of time, so now, I just jack the decals that other people upload. Go to Discover/Decals, and add any of them to your collection. There's a ton of really awesome ones, there. 👍

That’s what I’ve done up until now, except my 3 bumper stickers I got a guy on here to make for me, these are the other two.

Thanks for clarifying Pigems, that's really helpful. Most helpful is the point about letting off the brakes..... and this is where I find the videos that you and others post (and of course Circuit Experience for that particular class of car) really helpful. Knowing when to release is as important as when to apply.

Cones switched off again!

Anytime, Glad I could be of service to you my good man, good luck! :)

Sven, 49.2 on pole, we’ve got a chance in this one!!

Until I start on Hards and try to pit before I started the race, which didn’t work, just a pass thru slowly lol. So I pitted on lap 2 and 6 instead and finished 10th, I had 8th locked up but I got spun out in the final chicane on lap 10 by a guy I passed nicely thru spoon. Back to the GTR for the next one, the NSX turns well but spins easier.

I'm starting to like this Tokyo/Gr. 4 combo now... Normally i would avoid this track because it can get a bit, well, rowdy... But I managed to put in a good qualy time and starting up front definitely helps, so I went for a few rounds.
The midpack tends to get tangled up at some point along the way but its been mostly clean up front. The variety of cars on the grid has been pretty good too.
I finished off the night with a pretty epic duel against Lester that finished side-by-side across the line  The differences between the TT and the 4C made for some close, fun racing. lost it by .023 but it was still the most satisfying race that i've had in a while lol

P.S. This was also my first time using ShareFactory to splice together a few different replay angles and I got to say that it served it's purpose well. It lacks some fine tuning features but for basic streaming and editing it's more than capable enough (and free!)

Aliens. There are so many of you on this board!

Great race.

@Pigems tried a 3 stop strategy, didn't see him after his first pit stop in lap 0  You'll get me next time. This car is a bit better on tires than au Tom's. I lose less time in the 5th lap and it feels more stable as well. Nice drive.

Great race there!! Congrats on the podium finish. 3 stopnis definetly not the way to go, one stop on mediums pitting on lap 6 worked well though. Gonna try no stop on hard tires next, see how that goes.

Sweet, we are DFL and NTDFL in the next one, leaders a 47.7 though.

Edit: Would have gone good to if I didn’t take you out while trying to let you around, I tried to brake early to let you go, caught some grass and slipped right into you. Sorry about that man, that why I hung back at the end, you should have finished before me in that one. :)

Wow insane race man! Must have been intense on the last lap!
