African or European?

Can someone help with my Tsukuba problem? I'm just so far off the pace, I can't really get close to the leader in race A. I realize I went too wide in turn 1, but I feel like I've got the no-brake final turn down, fairly well. You guys see any obvious problems?

Pretty sure that's not "off the pace". Maybe get reading glasses?:p

So, A and A+ are bad tryhards or what?
The **** I had to witness/suffe is insane. People going wide on t1, rejoining like a freaking idiot and then complaining about the room being a mess. What's the point of 5 seconds penalty if the guy you just took out loses 10+. I've hear about people blocking on purpose during quali on fia races, s/s people at that. I had to vent. Don't get me started on people flashing lights at every turn thinking they have a right to your track position.

I can't stand people that pit in lap 4 and then assume you must move out of the way for them because they have fresh tires. Uhm, pass like everyone else instead of repeatedly ramming until you go wide or dive into spoon. If you have fresh tires it takes no effort to get a better exit yet somehow some A/S drivers are not capable of getting a decent exit and only know how to dive in and block after the corner.

I usually see more flashing lights at lower SR rooms. It's very annoying in night time races.

I did that race a bunch of times on Wednesday afternoon, and the laps you see in the video were getting me 3rd - 6th place finishes. uncletentwenty3 was slaughtering everybody.
Of course, I haven't tried it since then. Maybe he's gone away.

Yeah, that looks like a pretty good lap, though T1 could be tighter as you say. You do the same as me by changing to 4th before the turn for the bridge, helps with the balance I find. What assist is that you're running? I'm only 0.2s quicker, so it might not be a great help, but try switching it off and then easier on the throttle out of the turns?

You should watch blancpain races (or any gt race). Flashing is part of the folklore

I've been switching the settings all over the place. I believe that lap was BB -3, TCS1, ABS default, CSA strong. I've done most laps with TCS 0. There doesn't seem to be any difference between 0 and 1. My throttle is X, so it's balls to the wall.

Podium finish in the top room is an excellent result. And yes there's a lot more traffic now than on Wed I would think so you probably would get easier match ups.

It's a pain to do, but I had to re - learn the last 20 years of GT muscle memory, to "forget" X is accelerate and switch to R2. I did this by running through the offline GT Leagues again, starting from beginner. Took me about 3 months, but I don't get to play much so it can certainly be done quicker. If you are hitting 1:11.6 with x to accelerate, you'll destroy the field when you have the benefit of L2/R2 sensitivity and control.

My game just froze starting lap 2 of race C. First time its happened during a race. Hmmm.

Same thing happened to me in Race A last night during first lap last turn. I ended up having to restart the PS4

Same thing happened to me on Race C during L8 to make matters worse.

I thought maybe it was because I attempted a no stop on Ms so couldn't comprehend it and decided to freeze instead.

Im in 11.8 so cant really give advice. I think you lose time in the first turn. I brake while jumping toward the inside curb, release the gas, and then i accelerate as soon as i can see the outside curb. I would also shift later to the 4th gear, just before hitting the curb at 31s of the lap. The rest i think you do faster than me.

Also, all top times are using the grass more than you do.
For the first and third 3> 4th shifting , i do it precisely at 111or 112kph.

Hi guys new here but not new to GT, Does anyone know if the penalty system is going to be sorted out as this is absolutely ruing the game for me. I get that if I hit a wall I get a 5 sec pen which I think is harsh espiically if if you don't gain from it, But when someone rams you and you and then you hit wall you still get a 5 second pen and they drive away with MAYBE a 3 sec pen it is a joke. on Tokyo express way I got hit 3 times and ended up with a 15 second pen on 1 lap

Yes, I agree. Getting pushed in the wall for a penalty and seeing the other driver pull away without one is annoying.

The Tokyo tracks are risky for this though. I normally just hot lap them and not race them.

I've had enough of the penalty system now (not the zones). It's about time it was the same for everyone no matter their level because right now B and lower rated drivers can do what they like to higher rated drivers with very little chance of a penalty and they also need to do something about the idiots who bump into you on the outside when you are passing them (sometimes not even braking for the turn) and then go off and get you a penalty. Also applies to the drivers who recklessly come flying back onto the track after going off and hit you, somehow that can be you fault too if they then fail to make the next corner. :ouch:

To be fair to PD I'd think they would likely assume no one would actual ruin their own race just to stop someone from overtaking them, since it's such a petty and dumb thing to do but yet plenty do exactly that and it's a growing problem as more start to realise you can do this. Speaking of poor behaviour, I even watched one guy punt another off at the hairpin (actually turned right instead of left) just because they overtook them, apparently if they couldn't finish 3rd they'd rather lose a number of places to make sure their opponent did too, than finished 4th, it just baffles me really. :banghead::crazy::odd:

I couldn't keep quiet any longer. Everyone here has complained about dirty drivers. Many of us have raced from the back. I enjoy it, and it's a challenge. And yes, I have to deal with dirty drivers, and have been known to retaliate if they are especially dirty. I think the ones that bother me the most, though, are those that force their way through on the inside, even though there is really no passing oppertunity. If racing from the back, I understand that the first half of the pack I pass may not be dirty, but they will probably brake early, take bad lines and generally be erratic. I deal the best I can. I usually hold my toungue, but lately I've been seeing posts, complaining about dirty drivers, and then I watch the video and I see the complainer running into the back of slower cars, sticking a nose in on the inside, and even aggressivly blocking after a big error, or a penalty slowdown. Just because somebody is slower doesn't give the right to knock them out of the way or force your way past. I'm far from perfect, but some things I never do are block after I go off (or serve a penalty) and am dozens of MPH slower than I should be. I try not to get into the back of anyone, and I don't stick a nose in and push people wide. I will cover the inside and make you take the long way around, but I won't weave and block.

I started racing from the back because it's fun. I watched a couple of race replays where @Sven Jurgens was in my race, and starting at the back. I rode along and was amazed at how easy he made passing look, and how patient and clean he was. He raced from tye back, and made up double digit positions, yet got a clean race bonus in many (most even) of his races. I would say I was close to his absolute speed (best lap times) , but had nowhere near his racecraft. I've learned a lot since then about working traffic, in no small part to @Sven Jurgens (thanks!). I haven't had a lot of laps, or races this week, but all my races so far have been from the back at Suzuka. My Q lap is a 49.5 right now, but I don't think I've done better than a 51 in a race. I've had a race where my best lap was a 56. That's the price you pay when dealing with traffic.

I guess my point is, before complaining, look at yourself. If someone is repeatedly blocking, and you give them a nudge so they go wide, and go by, I understand. But if you slam into someone that's just slower, force your way by, or swerve in front of traffic after a penalty or error to mess up their race, or get a speed boost, you're the dirty driver. Nobody, no matter how fast, is entitled to a position on track. Earn it fair, and respect those that may be slower, but are just trying to do their best.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programing...
Well put, very diplomatic of you. I’m historically a hot head. I hope others read your post and take away your points.

I had a new one today. A car spawned (reset) right on top of me as a solid ghost, in the middle of the fast right after the esses. Why reset cars in the middle of the road or at all. It just seems to troll you. Here I'm already in last, about to get back on the road, then it resets me :banghead:
1SxaEG5.gif

At least I didn't get a penalty for the car spinning out into me. (Which is why I stick to DR.B, in DR.A I would have likely got 3 sec there)

I did get a 3 sec penalty at T1 for a car ramming me off right before the turn. I checked the replay, it wasn't that he didn't know I was there (as he was pushing me further inside already) it wasn't that he was aiming for the apex ignoring me, his car was actually aiming at the wall before the apex... I go off and get a 3 sec penalty. (just checked again, he did go off, even though making the apex perfectly fine after ramming me off )

And indeed there are far too many drivers that race with the rear view mirror, nothing but dangerously blocking and swerving to slow you both down. Until they mess up and get passed by the whole train that's been collecting behind them

People really should watch a replay before they flip out. Started 2nd got hit into first he went wide then slammed me off the track on next straight away multiple times then went wide and I passed then the last hairpin he tried to hit me going 80 mph but missed and killed someone else's race and he got ghosted after that. He lost like 25 SR while I got clean racing bonus all because he though I punted him.

Haven't been doing many daily races recently but done a few Suzuka races this week and I'd say they've been hit and miss, sometimes you get a lot of action and sometimes they're just processions.

Heres's a replay of an entertaining race I had, though my driving really wasn't upto scratch in this one, made many mistakes. The race pace was quite slow, had a quicker race time than the winner in a precious race where I finished 5th.

Great point. I think you can see it in 1 of 2 ways, that PD gives the "cheaters" too much leniency or that PD gives all of us really big benefit of the doubt. So when asking for more harsher penalties the flip side will be penalties for all so severe that some will complain it takes all the fun out of racing.

I've been punted forward 2 times on the same turn on Race A because the cars are slower, manage the first bump but the 2nd caused me to punt the lead car off. That car obviously thought I did it intentionally because of the speed I had getting pushed forward. The rest of the race was a roller derby.

Just got to destroy someone in race A, and it was cathartic. Last lap, next to last turn, I get a run on his outside after the turn, going onto the back stretch. He absolutely would not allow my car to be on the track. Kept hitting me into the grass on the left. Fine. I can play like that. Final turn: lights out, buddy. :ouch: 👍 Completely clean race, up to that point.

Recently I started watching my own replays on incidents like this, and interestingly there are some funny things...
In a race my experience is that someone is hitting me, but in a replay if I watch from the other guy's perspective, there are some situations where I'm hitting him.
Subjective view is a strange thing .

But why give DR.B a pass to hit DR.A(+)? Equal treatment would be a good step forward. It's even worse when you get into mixed SR rooms. Rules are completely different at different SR levels.

Harsher penalties will help with equal treatment. Plus a little effort to make the penalty system a bit smarter. It will never be perfect yet draft tapping someone from behind should not give the lead car SR Down or a time penalty if the car behind taps a wall or screws up right after. A car spinning out colliding with another car should not give the car that was in control a penalty. Fix those 2 cases and increase the penalties.

Not sure why people defend the outside that hard on that last straight.

Yeah those are good examples where it could use improvement.

Fair point, but I'm drinking. Although in a previous race, another guy, who I know to be a good clean racer (anyone who's ever done a race A in the American region knows him), called him out post-race for his behavior.

I always forget to save the replay. :banghead:

The stupid bump draft SR loss for the car in front is awful. I assume it is intended to keep people from slowing down on the racing line but it needs serious work to make it fair.

Good to see @sturk0167 's alt out there on Tsukuba.

Had myself a very close, clean race despite losing spots and DR. One spot was dumb. Someone with a penalty wasn't able to burn it at the end so started to slow down into my lane, probably confused at to what to do (I've done that) and I had to slow down just enough for the car behind to pass me at the end.

Ok, so now we know who's who. When mamajara69 disappeared, Turismo-Rodrigo suddenly appeared.
