No worries, I get more reckless as well after getting send to the back again. Hence I quit that race instead of charging at the field again in lap 7. It's surprisingly hard to pass on this track, without contact that is. I hope I didn't slate you in the penalty discussion thread :) Don't know your psn.

I'm still on the fence whether penalties are all that effective or not. It sends faster reckless people to the back where they can cause more trouble again. But if you don't do that (instead take it to the finish), then taking a 5 sec penalty for a dive bomb in T1 would be the best strategy. It's difficult, the punishment is to be put behind slower drivers that did nothing to deserve that...

Perhaps a 3 strikes and you're out approach would be better, with heavy SR loss for each strike. Yet it all comes back to a penalty system that is necessarily lenient because it's so often wrong.
Oh no, the race I was talking about was another one. Actually you finished that one and you didn't lose any place because of my crash as I let you keep your position. I'm Alerik.

1:39.6xx at Interlagos, and a 2:19.3xx at Yamagiwa/Miyabi.

So, target is sub 39s in Brazil, and something in the region of high 17s/low 18s in Japan.

Much practice needed, as Interlagos is a bogey track for me, and I've never driven the Kyoto combination this way around.

I cannot drive the Lambo, i don't know why. Is it AWD? Does it understeer? It feels dead to me. But it feels powerful.
I wish I knew how to drive the Lambo ...
It's a big heavy sled, nimble and responsive it aint.
I always go with the slow in fast out approach. If you brake early the steerings pretty good with a wide track and big rubber.
Once the apex is lined up you can snap wide open throttle very early and the AWD just hooks up and puts all that monster power to the ground with no traction issues. It gets out of the corners fast and of course that power's got great top end.
Brake early with this car and especially at this track is what's always worked for me.

Bit late to the party, but this is the fun and games I promised from Autopolis last week. Just so we can all continue to laugh at the penalty system.

Swiftly followed by the first attempt at Interlagos. One of the funniest things I've witnessed in game to date.

Did few more laps last night, just had to.. Got the Race C q-time to the 2:16.8xx
Optimum is 2:16.0xx so still room for improvement. Watched the fraga guide, and noticed some mistakes that I made, so maybe 2:15 today??
Yeah, right... Will try that nsx thou, seems to have fierce acceleration.
No tcs this time...

Nice lap. I see you don't shift to the 1st gear in T3 and T5. I certainly learned something from your replay. I just couldn't get below low 2.17. Will try to get into the 2.16 tonight. I'm starting to like this track.

Ah, nice to meet you. I see you more often on the track but usually out in front while I'm in my usual spot at the back.
You did get captured on camera :) Incident 18, one of those why do you get SR Down here examples.

Races in the evening are cleaner and also faster (which helps with it being cleaner as quali times are more often correct with faster players). I do race more at 'bad' times nowadays which is a goldmine for running into trouble. It's best to race from 9 or 10 pm EST to 2 am EST on the NA server for cleaner races, but I'm trying to improve my sleep pattern. GTS is too intense to go to sleep right after. Move to the west coast for better racing!

Thanks! :)

Just don't take the last turn like I did. Went way too far out there. At the T4 or T5, the long right hander, is same for me, need to take it tighter.
For those 2th gear corners, use brake and throttle to keep momentum.
If the car bogs with 2nd gear, you are not keeping enough speed thru corner.

Well, my PS+ has expired and I won't be able to renew immediately. It's going to be a month and a half before I can get back on track again :( I've also got some other things to focus on right now. Before it ran out however, I ventured into FIA Nations on Saturday for a change! It was a bit scary landing in a lobby where my 54k DR was the lowest of the bunch, but the results were promising :D I think I'll chase a win there when I get back, because I feel I've got the potential.

Of course I will still be coming back to the daily races for some chill racing and relaxed chat in this thread :) Maybe on a second account... 💡

I've used the 14 day Free Trial to give me time to get out and buy the 1yr at Costco. All I needed was an interact card. Just make sure you cancel on day 13.

****ing Interlagos. Put in an hour to get my quali down to a 1.41 (still trash, abusing track limits just is not my thing) and started 11th, but my tv decided to turn off during the start so I was in p13 by the time i could actually start. Frenchman in a scirocco, Frenchman in a Huracan behind me. Contain my xenophobia, i thought, I have been warned after all. Presume they have some sense and just drive - my lap is a full second better than theirs anyway, right? By halfway through lap 2 i'm in 10th, purely due to penalties/offs by others. These Frenchmen are getting aggressive on my tail. I can feel it coming. Into the first of the slow right handers, I brake in line with the green surface. My senses tingle. Here it comes, I am now a brake. First the Scirocco, fully into my arse and around the corner, and then as I grab 2nd to get around the other, the Huracan, and the Tricolor flies gallantly off into the distance. I yanked handbrake around the last corner and smoked out my frustration. Back to halfway through D, i.e, my last week of racing completely undone.

I should have just let the momentum carry me off and slapped that scirocco with the 5 seconds he deserved, but for some reason I thought the penalty system might have had my back.

I am frustrated enough having to re educated my brain to put 4 wheels off on turn 2 just to qualify, I really do not need Pierre up my ass. Time to try this Honda Fit race I guess.

So I've sort of been testing the Gr4 cars in Race B qualifying (mainly only a few laps in each) to do my daily mileage this week and I'm wondering if there are any cars that anyone thinks can beat those Lambos easily? :D If so I'll do a longer run in one (or two) tomorrow and try to get into the 1:37's, that's the target.

I mean I reckon I can beat my Lambo time (only a 1:38.3) in a number of them (and have easily in one already with a 1:38.0) but I've also completely forgotten how to drive that thing quickly too, so that is probably the reason for that.

Morning race C. Not bad actually today, I made it to 10th with clean race bonus. The icing on the cake was that this notorious dirty player, who always rams me when he gets a chance, was the only one with a red A in a full blue S room. He got called out, I reported him for good measure and good riddance (for one race :/)

I'm going to switch to the Lexus, getting bored of the Porsche. It's a bit too squirrely for last second corrections while avoiding.

6th in the Lexus and already beat my best lap from the Porsche on the first try. I need to experiment with rear brake bias as tire wear isn't any better in the Lexus. My front left is 80% gone after 4 laps on mediums, really hurting that 4th lap time. Perhaps hards in front mediums back would work better, however that doesn't work with a pit stop afaik.

My tire wear per lap in the Lexus with BB +3
PEud.jpg

66% dead instead of 80%, a bit better than at BB 0, but still bad.
Tire wear seems to be almost exponential.

I'd rather not, honestly. 6th place in what looked like a second split FIA lobby would definitely get me hooked on improving and trying to get a podium / win. This would distract me from IRL responsibilities and I'm not taking any chances on my ability to restrain myself :P So I'd prefer to come back when I'm done with those things and renew for a year. I'll have plenty of time after mid June. :)

Man it's hard to avoid contact in Race b, really hard. i am skating on thin ice, don't want to be reset but i keep tripping over people.

I definitely find i am less competitive in Group 4 than Group 3, I just cannot find the same relative pace. i think it's because TC1 is useless in Group 4 and TC2 is WAY WAY too strong. I can use the Hurucan with TC0 but it understeers so much I prefer the 'vette.

To me, this is by far the most aggravating penalty in the game. I was all alone at the back, because I just sucked in every possible way in this race. Nobody was near me. I got loose on the final curb, and couldn't save it. :banghead: I hit the wall, which cost me a bunch more time, and the game decided to take 5 more seconds from me. Makes no sense. :irked:
Ended up not in last place, though (barely). 👍

I have a 1:39.1 in the lancer, and there is heaps more speed in it. But I went into a race (I am B level at the moment), and was 2nd on the grid.

But the Lancer car felt S L O W. I did multiple 1:40.3s in the Lancer before the race, but its race pace seemed terrible. I won the next race but the car was still slow, I just did not make any significant mistakes, while the other mostly slow drivers seem to be making a few mistakes.

I wish I knew how to drive the Lambo ...

The lancer i similar to the Porsche in that on a clear track with perfect lines it's fast, but in a race it suffers with alternate lines and poor straight line speed.

The lambo is easy to drive, brake a few metres early, rotate the car and hit the gas hard and early, it has excellent grip but the car must be pointing the right way, it WILL NOT rotate under gas, rotate the car before accelerating. For me, the Vette feels faster but TC is either too strong or too weak and set my fastest time with the lambo.

I never understood why they have such harsh wall penalties on tracks that arent bathurst.

So my first Daily with a wheel came last week aand I rage quit lol. The 2nd Daily I spun out a couple times and gave up. This week i stuck with gr4 again and did 2 more. Started around 10th because i didnt wanna spend more time qualifying. Ended up gaining a few spots in each race. Still got sr down even though i didnt do anything except get hit from behind. I thought maybe it was a mistake on the TTs part until half a lap later when i see him slide right past me off the track going for a move. There were a few guys banging and had 5/6 second penalties which were deserved from what i saw. One of those was from ass blasting me turn 1. Having a wheel now it definitely sucks not knowing if the guy you are trying to go side by side with does as well. I wish it would have C or W beside their name. As it is now I assume everyone is on a controller because its safer that way.

Not sure I know what you mean. What would be the benefit?

There are built in aids when using a controller
The wheel has advantages too. Like the ABS default setting. And does correct even if a driver doesn't notice. In reality there would be way more accidents without some behind the scene magic. (+ Also much easier adjusting fuel map on the fly on longer races).

Also wheel users can use the other aids if they choose. It would be an unfair advantage if the choice wasn't available. But it is. (And I say this as a wheel user driving with only ABS default.)

And what's next, every wheel user has to use the same FFB settings? Ban brake springs? Limit screen size?

No offence but it sounds like some are looking for easy excuses, easy targets to blame for not being as fast as they think they should be.

+ I did a lobby race this weekend with 2 really good DS4 users. Being sandwiched between them for a lap was the highlight of my week.

having driven with controller i would give more space to controllers at my level is all i was getting at. its not always easy to hold your line with the stick. its one of the bigger reasons i wanted a wheel. when i was on ds4 it was hard to race side by side and hold your line tight without readjusting. its easier to duel on wheel in my experience. on ds4 i would accidentally bump people while just trying to race close because of the sticks. i know some people are hella fast/clean on ds4 but i think thats above my DR rating.

it wasnt about driver aids or an advantage of using one or the other.

You hit the crack between yellow and black. Don't you know that's bad.

It made you look bad, therefore a 5 second penalty was had.

How does the 4C do at Interlagos? I tried the Gr3 4C last night at Kyoto and it was surprisingly quicker than I expected it to be. I was thinking about trying the Gr4 4C tonight for race B. I know it will suck on the home stretch but it should be good through the rest of the track in theory. :)

Not tried it but in traffic I recon it’s going to be shoved around a lot. The lambos are big ok beasts.
I was in the big boy Nissan last night it loved the curbs and was weighty when it got shoulders out. I’m at 39.1 but there’s way more time in it with a faster driver

Yes, that's the incident I was talking about. Embarrasing lol.
