5 laps on hard tires, then 3 on mediums is quite nice, but you will get bumped from behind in lap 5, bumped off possibly, SR Down for sure. Strategy is dead, conform or suffer the consequences of a broken penalty system. I guess if you start on pole in a slower room you can have the luxury of strategy. Weird week, fun race C combo to drive, but not all that much fun when over half the people only know how to bump to pass.

Beat Saber break, back to 4+4 mediums later. Conform or get bumped.

Still can't recommend it, even though I only got hit once from behind (SR Down)
I started 17th, was in 11th when everyone pitted, moved up to 2nd then dropped down to 9th in the last 4 laps.
EMud.jpg

It required extreme short shifting in the Lexus. Shift up as soon as the bar becomes visible and stay in 5th in the 3 long sweeping corners.
Normally my best lap is 2:20 flat with 2:21's on average going up to 2:23 or 2:24 on lap 4 mediums.

I tried 5 laps on hard, 3 on medium next. 7th place finish with a best lap of 2:19.150 (lap 7). Stopping is better and starting on hards works pretty well when starting at the back as the mediums go to waste anyway on the first 2 chaos laps. I was lucky though to have a bit of a gap to the ones coming out of the pit in lap 5, so not to get run off.

My no stop didn't go well, either. Started 13th. Up to 4th while everyone pitted, back down to 10th for the finish.

Did finish a good 38 seconds ahead of 11th, though.

And 20 seconds behind 9th . . I spun it.

I don't understand people leaving races early, last night somebody hit me off early on which cost about 10 seconds but I kept fighting through the race. It took 9 laps but eventually I was able to lose some SR on his rear bumper. Never give up.
Day before yesterday I was racing and someone called me - in the middle of a race at Interlagos. I hit the Sony button ... I said I'd be there in a couple of minutes - then I realised, I was in the middle of the race and had left the race - so I hit a button and I was still on the race track, and I had not incurred any penalties. I was 9th and finished 4th.

Quite freaky really - I wonder if anyone else has done something so stupid?

I have quit too on the current account I am using because my wife wanted me and she was annoyed I was playing. Sometimes there are legitimate and extremely serious reasons why one has to quit!

Bud, I can put your mind at rest. Took my first run at FIA Nations yesterday, took the Lexus to Fuji. Qualified 19th. Yikes. By lap 4 I'm up to 10th, mix of luck and skill, then my phone rings as I go through the final turn. Mother. Well, for some reason, this was my thought process;

it's a long straight, I shall just quickly tell her I am racing and hang up to hit my braking point... But I used my left hand.

Why? Why Why Why? I take the fact I finished that race as testament to my sportsmanship. I finished 18th. Always stay in!

@Pigems Impressive speeds  I don't have an Ethernet cable right now, so I'm running on wireless halfway across the house. Download speed is 6-8 Mbps and upload is 1-2 :( Ethernet used to bump that up to 30+ and 5 respectively and my computer records 46.5 and 4.7. Quite a decent connection I'd say, but having to use WiFi sometimes turns me into a hazard online

As a side note, I downloaded GTA V on ADSL connection. Meaning .5 Mbps. It took me two days.

Are they? I’m not very computer literate so I honestly have no idea if its good or bad, I’m glad to hear that it’s good though. The extent of my computer knowledge is as follows, I can Google, GolfWRX, GTP and YouTube, that’s about it. :D

The cord I got was only $6 CDN, it’s 15’ long. Maybe you find a cheap one near you somewhere? It was in a random surplus type of store. :)

I picked up an ethernet(LAN) cable today, I’m now hard wired in. Upload speed didn’t really change much but download speed did supposedly. I’m curious to see if gameplay changes at all or if I get less hiccups from GT now.

Consistency. Not necessarily speed.

I also picked up a wireless keyboard, trying to type from a wheel after a race sucks lol.

Should be far superior than WiFi. Gamers reckon hard wire is mandatory. But about the delay - after may experience leaving the race and returning a few seconds later - I reckon there might be some delay somehow in the game. Since Australia and new Zealand's standard racing setup went from green bars to 3 yellow, it's been much tougher for Anzacs to drive against Japanese in traffic. For instance second last race I ran yesterday I lost two SR - but I did not touch anyone, and I never ran wide. My conclusion was someone touched me from behind, or I ran wide but my screen did not show me running wide.

I've posted though because I had never thought of using a keyboard to make comments before or after the game. I'm going to put in my gear change arm for my seat setup, and put a compact keyboard on it.

I spoke earlier about a girl driver - she welcomed me to a race, and a couple of other guys she had raced against from Australia. I could not reply in time due to being slow with a controller trying to type ... and in the race she passed me and then I re-passed her - and she ran wide. I wanted to apologise but she had gone after the race. She also got fastest lap. Its likely I touched her - three yellow bars and you never know when you're close to a car - if you touch people, I don't think you always know when both are driving with three yellow bars. No penalty for me but that means nothing IMO. I saw her the day b4 yesterday and she started in front of me. I let her have a second gap and held it ... with the gap she found her rhythm and won by 2.5 seconds, and there was action behind me and my second place ended up with the same gap couple of seconds to 3rd. A keyboard may have removed my angst and it would be great to communicate properly with people before a race.

3 times I've quit accidentally, sort of. I set the controller down with 1 lap to go, because I thought the race was over. :banghead:
And one time I lost about 5 or 6 positions because I slammed on the brakes right before the finish line to scrub my penalty time, and again I miscounted the laps. I'm sure the guys behind me were having a good laugh.

I've also won 2 races because the guy in front of me miscounted the laps. One of them did the stupid handbrake spin across the line (he hit a wall and got a penalty, too). I was definitely laughing at him. He left the post-race chat immediately.

I do have a cord. It's just that my PS4 is placed somewhere that's convenient for me but hell for an Ethernet cable. A drill will be involved when we eventually get around to wiring it

I've got a Vantage waiting for this. How about the F1?

I'd put money on the F1 being the meta car. Breaking 300 km/h with BoP was unheard of in Gr.3 before it arrived. I'm not even sure if the Ford GT, which I assume is the second fastest car in a straight line, can do 290. I don't think it will be a one car grid though, because Sarthe still has corners. The Ford GT, Supra, Vantage etc. will probably do well too.

Come to think of it, the Peugeot VGT has a pretty high top speed... 💡

In my hands the Huracan is slow. Just can't make it work. Although not a blazing lap by any means, I found the Evo much easier.

Awesome lap man!! What BB did you use?

Hi Guys, can anybody tell me why I get the penalty when some other driver hits me in the back?
It happend in the 4 round race at Interlagoss.

Not a happy camper.

Just tried Race B. QT 1:40.2. Put me mid-rear on the grid. All DRB/SRS. Top 6 or 7 were from Brazil in the 1:38-39s. Variety of cars though which was surprising. Everyone else 1:40s.

Terrible start for me as I tried to stay high on T1, clipping the grass. Ended up last + a .5 sec. penalty. Caught up to the last place car, the only other Canadian, and actually had some interaction at the end. But by the time I had the courage to make a pass everyone else was gone. With only 4 laps there's really no time to be patient or make any mistakes. Tough race.

Most likely, the driver who bumped you exceeded track limits just afterward and you were blamed by the penalty system as if you had pushed him off. I have heard some dirty drivers are doing this deliberately to force penalties on others. Just try to race on and treat it as an unavoidable incident, not much else you can do.

1:38.2!! I’m so close now that I can smell the 37.9, tonight could be the night. :)

I tried the Lancer but I couldn’t hold my momentum well enough with it, best with it was a 38.9, it’s brakes and corners very very well though. :)

Yeah that Pug might be the one.

That's an amazing lap bud. I have no idea why I can't make the Huracan work for me. Not sure I have the ability to get the Evo much faster as it seems easy to lose momentum. Once again we are less than a tenth apart, but with 2 different cars. Interesting.

I'm with you on the Hurrican - it feels like a truck to me. The polar moment does not feel like a mid engined car. Its weird IMO. Not at all like in GR.3 the A8 Audi which is mechanically related. Why don't PD provide an Audi A8 GR.4 car?

Awesome lap in the Lancer though O-J, I'm going to check out your very smooth lap and maybe do some qualifying later in the week. I drove the Evo at the Nordschleife (as did everybody I think) and its a very forgiving car, plus its awesome out of tight turns. And it feels light and chuckable. Is that brake number to the right of centre or to the left? I think I am on -2 which is to the left. I might change it to -3. Which did not work for me at the Nordschliefe, but that track has few hard braking points ... could you also tell me your Fanatic settings in the game ? I use the Porsche GTR wheel and I presume is like your wheel and is not seen by the game. But my wheel no longer vibrates, not sure what is going on.

There's been two Lancers in the top 10 in /Asia all week. Not sure though what car the sub-1:37 time is.

I still don't know how to handle the corner 4 at Interlagos in the Lancer ... please help me? :indiff: The Lancer car seems under geared there. Sometimes I even have taken second gear there ... sometimes I left foot brake, sometimes I let the car drift the tail out and then power through ... I just don't know what to do there. I need help ... I get confused as I approach that corner 4 every darn lap.

My last race I was third on the grid and the pole car had a sub 1:38 time. I dropped back to 4th from a TT bumping me from behind into corner 5, I got a penalty too, but I passed the guy shortly after ... then the two leaders ran wide during the chicane. I got the lead and with a 0.5 second penalty, I thought it was all over as I slowed before my dreaded corner 4. But because I don't know how to handle that corner, I was quick through the corner despite a slow entrance speed and a left of the track entry. I kept the lead and then got to a 0.66 lead at the end of the main straight. I won by 1.5 seconds and got 800 DR. Not deserved but I took it. The Lancer is very easy to drive IMO and more importantly it feels light and lovely. There is lag though on the front wheel grip.

Nevillenobody - I don't get why you don't spend some time qualifying at the beginning of the week. With better qualifying IMO your SR would go up and you'd be a constant "A" driver. Being just a couple of places further up the grid also means you'd suffer less SR damage plus also you'd get higher DR scores. You'd be 35,000 in no time IMO and a constant A. And if for the last few weeks if you were 65 SR you'd have been A all that time I think. Maybe go to race A at the end of every night and do a couple of low point scoring races and get your SR up to 65. Not sure if this works by the way, but it sounds a good idea to me ... surely we would not loose many DR in focusing on SR gains in race As???
