I had this one earlier
uJvd.jpg

Nobody uses it anymore though, 66% of the room is now GT-Rs.

I took a break and tried the SLS AMG for completion sake but a Porsche swerved last second in the braking zone, parked his car on my bumper and I got a 3 sec penalty. Then he rammed me off at Indianapolis but at least the penalty went to him. That 3 sec penalty plus an SR Down from another draft tap from the same driver, -8 SR, to 91. 2 contact free clean races to get back to 99.

The GT-Rs on top didn't have red dots this time. From 5th down all red ratings.

Redemption, well half of it to 95 SR.

I got rammed off by a Mustang this time. Clean swipe, penalty for him.

I got into the B/S to C/S room this time and there 66% of the cars are the McLaren BMW with not a single GT-R. Totally different from the A+/S to B/S rooms.

Enough for today, I'm getting tired of getting punted and/or rammed every race. Netflix will do. 3 cars left to race for the clean race bonus.

4 races at Brands Hatch today. QT unchanged (Day 3). Can't improve on 59.409. Highest start was 3rd/lowest was 6th. Best finish 3rd/worst 11th. Got pushed off 1st race this morning but other than that a clean day.

Found this video of the real life race lap record 38.032. Set in 2004. Held by Scott Mansell, no relation to Nigel Mansell, who holds the GP circuit race lap record. <- weird coincidence, right?

Did they let you pass out of sympathy because you were in an NSX?

Sorry.

I feel sort of similar. It's too heavy at some sectors particularly around Esses. Like driving a truck at times. It's definitely fast and not bad overall. It's just there's better options.
i did a 3:55.400 with the pony and 3:55.284 with the Supra , pony feel heavy but corner exit are smooth while supra is like driving a car with a turbo bigger than the engine ? Not sure like them both lolll

Damn it. I lost because of my reliance on cones. 2nd lap, I'm in 2nd place and me and P1 both blew the first chicane because the braking cones were gone. :banghead:
I ended up 3rd, and he got 6th.
@Stencedaddy was there.

This is the first week that I've properly translated the cones to other reference points -specifically down Hunaudieres where you've got a lot of time to look ahead before PlayStation, Michelin and Mulsanne. Good job too. All 4 races I did last night had them obliterated as I went around lap 2. Goodness knows what was going on behind! But we I ended up with 4 P5s in a row.

#consistency.

i also had no braking or other reference points for La Sarthe, now have one for every corner, except the middle Mulsanne chicane (the left-right-left one) where I can only describe my braking point as 'in the thickest shadow' between the final boards. Have messed up a few times there but yet to find a more concrete reference point.

either way I shall first have to find a cable, controller is absolutely flat and this tablet will soon follow. Really don't wanna miss FIA Hachirokus at Tsukuba D:

This last lap was so intense, clean and amazing! We were fighting for 1st position neck on neck. At the end I got the victory but you need to see this part of the race! I wish there were allot more moments like this in GTS.

it was me who said Hi in the pre-race lobby yesterday morning. I was on my 2nd account Ricky_Stain, but it wasn't this race in your video because you won my race by 16 seconds i think  I was starting last with no qualy, which is very hard work when you've got people in front of you who QF with 4:06's and 7's.
I would imagine you've had a successful week with you qualy time... great job 👍

i did something similar at Fuji using a shadow for a reference point.... all good until the track appears in the dailies again and is at a different time of day

I already tried to look you up over here but couldn’t find you haha. Yea the race I won with 16 sec was crazy... even tho I didn’t pushed the car to his limits on that race. It was nice to see you as GTplanet member in the race! Gives it another nice vibe.

My Q wasn’t that great tho. 3.57.6... could do better but just wanted to race haha.

Lmao so thats what happened. I just brake where the wall splits in the f1 or just after in other cars. I screw up the first lap of every single race b though. Never fails. Then im stuck racing with the back.

I have decided to become obsessed with sub 4 minutes at La Sarthe. My best lap still a 4.01.193, in the f1.
wondering if i should bias the brakes and if so which way and how much? I typically only use brake balance for tire wear or taking the understeer out of FWD rally cars.

f1 seems to swim around with the brakes on and I've overshot a couple braking points.

Feel like I should be able to manage it as I've been racing the circuit lots and definitely know it better than when I put that lap in. Any tips? Can post a vid if anyone tells me an easy way to do so.

-3 or -4 (front) feels comfortable for me in the F1. That said, i just can't hook everything up in 1 lap

Thanks, I'll try it. Warmup laps have been 4.03s, 2 seconds off the pace and I need a further 1.1 from somewhere... Pushing braking points back has been a disaster. Think I just need to nail it like you say.

Cigarette break, your settings, blast some eurobeat...

I'll let you guys know how I do.

I guess it will differ per car and per driving style (You don't mind a bit of tail out, so you can probably afford a fraction later!)

But for me the braking point for Michelin Chicane is when the lefthandside barrier goes from shadow to being sunlit. Really big noticeable change. Stay as far to the right as you can still on the grippy stuff and as that change flashes past the left of the screen slam those anchors on and let it drift into the left hander.

Though of course all I've driven this week is the Aston. It just feels nice and suits me perfectly round Le Mans. I don't suppose you'd dare brake anywhere near there in the F1. By all accounts you need to brake half way back down the road to get it stopped in time...

Race C qually.

Been on it for a few hours. Was really struggling to get below 1.27 with TC at 2 and BB at +3. Been messing about with wheel settings coz the car just didn’t feel right to me.

Chipping away.....getting more consistent......

Bang ...... 1.26.118

Kie’s YouTube video tutorial helped me on a few corners. It really shows how much speed you can carry if you get your lines right.

About ten attempts and some thumping eurobeat later...

a 4.00.531.

Much more respectable. Where is the other .5? Probably on the Mulsanne, or somewhere between Indianapolis and Ford.

i've always hated this track, its skechy chicanes and pelting it down hill the mulsanne make me nervous especially in traffic, but after this week's race I've found parts to enjoy about it. I really like the whole first sector and the curves. Nailing the Tetre Rouge is super satisfying.

i mean, i can probably get that .5 within the next couple hours, but i fancy a walk and some real social interaction before Hachiroku-fest this evening.

but I will probably end up trying again...

And so the circus continues. 1am run at la Sarthe with the M6. I couldn't manage to string together a lap close to my optimum, but I was able to better my qualifying time set with the Jag. The M6 is the first car I've driven in a very long time that behaved the same in both race and qualy. My fav so far 👍. Race matching was kind to me and I found myself starting in P3/15 on a grid of DR/D with a few Cs thrown in.

Race starts with me more or less pointed in the right direction for a change and off I go! I picked up a 0.5s penalty and Tertre Rouge (seems to be one of my problem arias). The upshot was I was caught at the exit of the first Mulsanne chicane and was expecting to be passed, but the poor sod had an even bigger penalty than me so I hung on to P3 for the rest of the lap.

Lap 2 and I was on target for a P3 finish... till I got to the second penalty zone. I picked up a penalty somewhere (forget where), and just as I caught up to P2, P4 caught up to me and passed me, and the guy behind him wasn't far behind. He was right up my arse through the curves and got me at Blanche. My run through the last chicanes was less than elegent, so P5 for me. Bit annoyed that I lost it right at the end, but better than a kick in the head ne?

SR up 2, DR up 500ish :dopey:.

I lost because of my reliance on cones.

I'm trying go drive without the cones now ...

This is the first week that I've properly translated the cones to other reference points

I try to use track reference points but I'm too used to cones. If I don't see cones, I'm more likely to 🤬 badly. It's annoying when cones are knocked off or braking markers like at Bathurst/Murray's Corner. PD should have a way to reset cones after each lap similar to how racing stewards wouldn't leave cones lying around on a race track. Far less hazardous this way and driving over one will make you lose time.

On the subject of visual aids, I still have my braking indicator enabled even though I rarely pay attention to it. I somehow feel more at ease with it on.

First race this morning. Trying the Genesis currently. It's slow, can hardly draft pass anything, can't particularly late brake either. Pretty useless on this track. And ofcourse, got hit from behind by one GT-R for SR Down and rammed off by another GT-R. There were only 4 of them on the track, but they always manage to hit me... At least the grid was pretty diverse next to the Mac and GT-R.

I got a neutral rating for that one SR Down, most was red with a red A for the one that rammed me off. Saturday derby hast started.

As for brake points on Sarthe on the straight. First chicane there are 2 orange overall wearing guys on the left followed by a single green wearing one. Depending on the car I use those as reference for braking. They always stand in the same spot, thanks guys!

For the second chicane I look at the tree line. From the last big tree on the right before it opens up until the big 100 distance board.

The last one is simply a measure of how far along the kerb each car can go before braking.

Not completely useless

Still good at under cutting cars that go wide but lacks in everything else.
