Well, it’s certainly to be the Huracan most of the week for me. Maybe this week will be kind to me, I did just have a brilliant wheel to wheel race with a Spaniard, the omens are good!
 
Decided to give the NSX a good long run at Dragon Trail. I was debating on whether or not to sign with Honda for the upcoming manufacturers season based on my experience with the Gr.4 car.

Gr.3 is good. But, I just can't be consistent with it, as you can see by the lap times showing in the vid. I'm not sure I can make this thing go much faster. Other people definitely can. For me, it's a difficult car to drive. I need to push hard, all the time, to get it going well.

Best lap 1:39.713. Optimal was 39.6xx.



I'll race tomorrow.
 
8pm race on Goodwood, much much better than earlier today. I did have the luxury of starting last, so I simply put it in 3rd, waited for the lights to go green before even pressing the gas, bye bye everyone, oh I already gained 7 places in lap 1 :lol: I got into 4th but lost a ton of places in the pit. It's one of those races again. I took new tires this time not to get run off in the last 2 laps, yet fuel management is so boring I rather race. I finished 7th, good enough.

Next race was going well until the car in front of me screwed up the chicane, crashed, couldn't avoid, gave me 2 sec penalty, then the penalty zone screwed me up. So sitting the rest out in the pit, no thanks,

I quit the next one in lap 2, too many idiots and the faulty penalty system put me right back in them. Different game before I break something.

I'm not one to brag, but after many many many attempts, finally had my first podium finish tonight.

I just noticed the May 29th article about Goodwood, and more importantly noticed that the photo shows an N700 race. That would've been so cool. :(

I was paddle shifting my Audi today and as I was breaking, I tried to break with my left foot .lol

And to clarify, I was not playing the game.

I just noticed the May 29th article about Goodwood, and more importantly noticed that the photo shows an N700 race. That would've been so cool. :(

N700 free choice would be epic. Although with the current penalty system and general racing 'behavior'...

I remember the only time N800 was featured. It was on Monza and is still the 2nd worst race for SR recorded in GTS history with an average of 6 SR lost per player per race entry. Only GR.4 Monza no chicane beat that with an average of 6.4 SR lost per player per entry.

There's always hope. N800 was actually 'better' than GR.4 on Monza after all :)

It would be great on a bigger track like St Croix, or Bathurst. SR killer for sure, wherever it is. For some reason, the high performance street cars in the game have horrible brakes and handling.

With the N800 onemake you had to start braking before the first distance marker for the chicane on Monza :lol: It takes forever to stop while people drive it like it's a GR.3 car. Good times.

Ah that last quit put me in the sub 90 SR room. Let's see if that's a bit better.

Nope, turned it off again. Not fun tonight. Netflix.

As for matchmaking, why not match on how many miles people have driven on a circuit. That's a far better selection criteria than SR for any new circuit!

It couldn't possibly be worse than the BMW M4 at Willow Springs. What a horrid combo that was.

I can’t left foot brake IRL, my left foot only knows a pedal with travel distance instead of resistance. I can’t even use the brake mod that came with my pedals because my left is so used to going by travel and not pressure thanks to starting on my DFGT. :)

Managed to run a 1:15.3xx in the Genesis at Goodwood but just not feeling it. Think I'll spend my week in a Mini...

The Mini feels WEIRD now, even on SH tires, it’s just too sticky.
 
Jumped into the Daily C with only a few laps practice. Starting at the back did a no stopper and finished 3rd each time. I didn't realize my account was at SR A so the lobby was pretty bad lol.

It was REALLY fun though. Weaving through traffic here is a blast. One of my new fav tracks. Mistakes are really punished.


I end up botching the start in every race in one way or another. In the 3rd one a car in front of my DOESN'T start and i ram it.

I swear Dragon Trail is just asking for stupid divebomb moves. You have 3 heavy braking zones and if you don't attempt to cover the inside line, chances are you will get overtaken by an idiot who won't give you racing room. Which is exactly what happened to me. I was coming out of the quick left-right-left section in my GT-R and was getting hounded by a Ferrari. I initially put myself onto the inside line but I knew I'd have to compromised my entry as a result. I went back to the racing line because of this. But the Ferrari didn't and when we got to the braking zone, he cut me right off and prevented me from turning into the corner. That basically ruined me race and I hit him off the track, which resulted in a four second penalty. I finished 14th. Stuffed an opportunity to win the next race by hitting the wall at the chicane of death, and having to go off the track to avoid an accident. I did the race a third time and got the win after an early skirmish with a Supra.

I also did the Goodwood race and my goodness that track is good for racing. It's also very unforgiving in parts and I was caught out several times. I was keen to use my Cayman as I've barely touched it, but didn't set a great time. However I was able to start third. There were some truly hair-raising battles and mistakes were occuring pretty much everywhere, so the field was extremely spread out as a result. I didn't improve on my starting position. I took the Corvette out for the next race and was plonked in 16th. The start was absolutely wild and I somehow kept my car on track, despite people being right next to me. I made up 7 spots to finish 9th, but I lost a heap of time in the pits refueling the car. Should've stayed out an extra lap to make any sort of gain in the thirsty Corvette.
 
With Goodwood we finally got a race which rewards consistent, fluent driving.

Stay out of trouble, stay on the track, don‘t pass but use slipstream to save fuel.

I love it since racing like a crowbar doesn‘t work and drivers trying get taught to not try again.

I had a fantastic race in the F-Type at 7am and saved lots of fuel shortshifting in the slipstream of a finnish Scirocco (or Mégane - it was something egg-shaped). Unfortunately he was gone after my Pitstop in Lap 10 and I hadn‘t taken that into account when refueling: I nearly finished 4th but ran out of fuel on Lavant Straight in lap 15. Finished 8th.

Even though I started 4th I still gained about 800 DR. I guess this won‘t happen again today since the fields should be more homogenous once more people left their beds.

I didn’t like the NSX on Dragon Trail, the brow of the hill on turn 3 really unsettled the car, and it’s constantly trying to over rotate. I could only manage a 1:40.3 with 1:39.8 optimal. More speed required on the straights too.
 
Got a 1.39.186 on dragon trail race B, tried a race starting P2, kept this place all race long, the DR A was waiting for me , then, the last chicane on the last lap... as loosing five places was’nt enough, had a 5s penalty.

Won one at Goodwood. Started first,had about 20 secs lead without touching 1:16 but hit the grass on lap 13, still won by 8 secs :p

Second race started 1st again but went too far and hit the grass.Dropped to 13th. Finished 4th.

Whatta Combo race c is. Fluent, fast and consistent driving is heavily rewarded. With all inconsistent driving also from my side, back to DR B :(
 
Is it me, or has the penalty system got even worse?

Been away from it for a few weeks and got caught up in one guys quest for a DR reset, I had just gotten my DR B too, he hit me about 20 times, I eventually got a DR reset and my SR went right down. I lost 35 SR in one race, I couldn't quite figure it out.

So most of the weekend was grinding around at the back, and avoiding Race A as even clean races only were giving me +4SR, which was so frustrating as I had a low 1.53 q time which was in the top 1,000 EMEA but I couldn't use it, as it made me a target at T1 in every single race and my SR just died completely.

So, Race C for me this week even though I cant really get the hang of goodwood, I dont do many C's and I enjoy Group 4, however I have a MAJOR gripe with something that happened last night.

I was on my in lap, 0.7 laps of fuel left coming into the chicane, I am in a healthy 4th place in a room full of B's and C's, guy behind me loses his front end and punts me into the barrier, I get a 5 second penalty, which is annoying enough, then I cant get in the pit lane, it respawns me on the start line, so I havent got enough fuel to go round, so I reverse back to the pit entry and again it respawns me on the start line, I put my fuel map on lowest and trundle around a lap, still having to serve my 5 second penalty. Managed to finish 7th after starting last but with steam coming out of my ears

Race C is generally carnage, new track I suppose, cars off everywhere, noticing a lot of people getting no penalties for punts, and people getting penalties for hitting barriers after getting punted, it seems every change makes it worse.

So, came back to the game, got to B-S had a horrible evening and practically all my progress ruined by one driver, couldn't use my best ever Q time because it seemed to put a target on my car, and all this despite just trying to drive clean. It seems to me that etiquette has gotten worse, and the penalty system too. I saw one guy brake check me, and 2 other people in the same race, we all crashed to avoid the SR implications, might have just been Monday, hopefully tonight will be better.

Pretty sure this isn't what PD want, raced a few lobbies over the weekend, much better!
 
@CLowndes888 I hear you about dive bombs. It happens even at the start of the race. I had one dude dive bombing on me in T1. I saw it coming and somehow avoided it and he went right off track lol.

I didn't find the car too unsettled over brows. But, do agree with the rest. Constantly trying to over rotate on the brakes, which don't seem particularly strong, and more straight line speed/power is needed. This does make me think it might be worth trying for the next Manufacturer season though, as I can't see too many people picking Honda.

I'm trying the AMG-GT3 tonight. I might even race, given my strangely quick (for me) day one pace . .

It was already worse on Brands Hatch last week. This week race C has a lot of SR to burn as well so I doubt it will get much better during the week. It's another Kyoto situation. That chicane is tricky. One race a car in front of me clipped the side, I could not avid him and got a 5 sec penalty since he went wide after the chicane (like 80% of people yesterday). Next race I got a 5 sec penalty there from someone bumping me into the wall... Get bumped wide at T1 but hang on to the run off, you get SR Down. Get nailed by a car coming from the grass after he missed a turn, get SR Down. Plus still the goof old, you are ahead on the inside yet the outside car drives into you like you aren't there and you get a penalty cause they bounce themselves off.

I guess today I'll simply fuel save behind cars and wait until they go off. Any sort of pass is inviting a penalty. The straights aren't really straight, those little kinks are easy to get a penalty when the other car doesn't pay attention to your position. Yet getting punted wide when you brake on time for corners goes unpunished...

I shed 10K DR yesterday with sitting races out int he pit and simply quitting not wanting to go back into the mess thanks to unfair penalties and penalty zone. So perhaps rulings will work better today. Yesterday I was still DR.A in A/S to D/S rooms, thus DR discrimination was in full effect. Starting last on a new circuit is always trouble. It would be better to qualify for the first half of the week and then erase that to start last for the second half as trouble generally moves forward in the field during the week.

Yet really, matchmaking should take miles driven on a circuit into account. Yesterday was mainly a mess as every race had a new batch of people driving it for the first time. Starting last in that, not recommended. I got my laps into the 1:16s with the Huracan, yet thanks to unfair penalties, or rammed off and spend 10 seconds in the grass, kept being placed back in the mess. 1:16 lap then 1:30 lap lol. I saw some creative people too trying to skip the high speed right than left, skipping St Mary's over the grass...

It's a fun circuit to drive, yet maybe better against AI :)

It’s just that one turn, maybe one lap in five, if I’m on the power a touch early, the rear wheels with the weight over them get all the grip and front gets nothing, probably just my driving style. I love the NSXs on technical circuits, deffo worth a nod for the FIA
