At race C I had a good lap one strategy of staying calm, on track, and not attempting any passes. That saw me advance more often than not and the race could settle into its own from there.

Opposite result this morning. Might’ve been trying a new car, or it might’ve been letting myself get to the outside on the first turns rather than keeping inside, but I got pushed off twice with no penalty for the perpetrators. Highly frustrating when one only has time for one race in the morning. Such a crap start just compounded my frustration and I fell victim to more errors both self-induced and otherwise. DNF as I opt to get to work before my mood sours and I’ll be back at lunchtime to search for redemption.

Otherwise I’m greatly enjoying the new track. It’s like the European version of oval racing! “We should put a left turn in here somewhere, eh wot?” The chicane is a killer but very satisfying to get right.

Yep, can confirm, it happened to me twice in my last race. Feels like you're handed penalties for others' mistakes. I got bump drafted, he loses control behind and drives himself off the track = 3 second penalty for me.
There's just not much you can really do about it. I got 3 penalties in the first two laps of race C, for 11 total penalty seconds, all from out of control cars running into mine before sliding off into the grass.

I tried the staying way back yesterday, didn't work out as you catch up to the people mowing the lawn, then have to dodge their re-entries. Yet driving in the pack in lap 1 often goes wrong as well when the cars behind don't pay attention and bump you into the mess in front. It's a lottery like Monza. Inside or outside doesn't reall matter. The only thing that helps is qualifying well so you don't have to deal with the snowball effects rippling down the field lap 1. Then lap 2 is a mess again since now you have several cars slowed in the penalty zone causing dangerous obstacles in those high speed turns while people already try to drive bumper to bumper.

Lol somehow I skipped SR.A and went straight to SR.B on my last quit. I wonder how this goes lol. -17 SR getting rammed 3 times in lap 1 then quit.

SR.B is cleaner, people actually slow down in SR.B when there's congestion ahead. SR.S just bumps. I finished 4th despite messing up my fuel. I pitted in 8 instead of 9 this race yet still only got 6 laps of fuel doh. I still got SR Down from a car driving me off, yet one per race is much better than 3 in one lap! +15 SR despite the SR Down and going off to avoid. Lotsa points in this race to burn.

Nope SR.A is bad again. I won the penalty lottery in lap one when a whole bunch of cars messed up in front, then got rammed off etc. Quit, done for now. PD can't provide fair racing, no point in sitting it out while just getting frustrated.

Bloody Minis at Suzuka East . . . . . . . . . . . . AGAIN!!!!

Seriously PD, how many times can you keep on repeating this boring combo?!
It's like they have completely forgotten they have hundreds of cars to choose from, 99.9% of which are better than the damn Mini - AGAIN!!!!!

Off to smoke a packet of ciggies to calm myself down!

I agree. In about two weeks the nurburgring 24h event is on so it will be back to weekly race and this time i hope its gr2 as bored of the usual gr3 two lap event. They need go put nordscelifer and nurburgring n24 on more especially a one lap gr4 event on daily race b full of the mr based gr4 cars. They do ff gr4 so why not do a mr gr4 and 4wd gr4? Split cars up so everyone has the fairness?

@Leftcurl perhaps I’ll race you again tonight.

Steaming races now. Repping the GT Planet livery on the Huracan.

Shocker of a race, first mistake was power sliding through the bus stop with a guy on my tail going flat out, took us both out but I got the penalty, I’ll accept that, but I may still have made it through cleanly, and he may have smashed into the wall had I not been there.

Second mistake was sitting back after the 2nd hair pin instead of pressing my rivals and spun the car. 50% driving again.

Goodwood is a horrid little track and I've no idea how driving on it is supposed to be enjoyable, never mind racing. I hate to be that guy (I actually do), but if this is the best they can manage for new tracks it doesn't bode well for the future.

Got to a 39.5 so far at Dragon Trail in the GT-R, and was on course for .4/5 faster than that on a lap when the countdown finished. If I can get to the 38's and stay there consistently I should do well in races, as the two I had last night I went from 9th to 3rd and 10th to 4th. It suffers in the esses on the back straight but it's so fast out of corners, you can get ahead of all the Supras quite easily.

I think the car/track combo is off. N100 cars, or even the Karts would be most suitable for Good Weeds (named for where where most of the driving takes place).

I got a 5 second penalty when I was rear ended after grazing the wall in Race B. Dude hit me, then crashed and boom, 5 seconds on my plate. I recovered to finish 4th, but still.

Had one awful and two decent races on C yesterday. It's definitely tricky and the grass isn't very friendly. I'm lapping the track just fine now, Q time is 18:102 and am getting a feel for where I can get more speed; hoping to drop that down to at least low 17's tonight. Now it's just up to practice with traffic- another track that's difficult to recover on. Nice thing it's the long race so there's time. Yesterday I qualied 8/20, dropped to 20 after a slide (lost my train of thought and started thinking about No Man's Sky, lol), and fought back up to finish 10th. Pretty good result, I thought.

I noticed that, too.

Get shoved off the track: 3s or less for the culprit.

Get shoved off the track and hit a wall/fence/hedge: 5s for the victim.

Get shoved off but roll in accordance to your steering angle and keep control of the vehicle (sounds scientific but that‘s how I experienced it): no penalty for anybody; if however the victim hits another car on his excursion: 3s or less for the culprit turned victim.

Is your PSN close to your username here? Because I was in that race. Saw you say something about a weird penalty.

For me, I was dive bombed bad at the end and finished like 14th or something. I lost 16 SR in that race.

Ya man.. I'm thinking first lap, this ain't so bad...second lap I'm in the middle of the field

I gotta start remembering to save my replays. Two cars played a really great joke on me, this morning. I was following 2 cars that hit each other, and one went in the grass to the left. I moved up next to the other one right when the other guy came back on track from the left, making me "Lucky Pierre" in the middle, and sandwiching me into the other one, who went off track to the right, along with the other guy who went back off track to the left, again. SR down and 6 seconds penalty for me. All you can do is laugh.

Yeah agreed with this. I ended up spending a lot of my time tonight in Race B holding distance from people in front because they kept sliding into each other, and this pattern emerged quite obviously. I felt pretty bad for the ones being pushed into walls in the waterfront chicane things and getting penalised.

Was having a good run of races doing Race B, slowly gaining SR while DR went up a weirdly small amount, gaining 4-6 positions from where I started on each one (took a while to work out good set up for the Supra). Final race of the night, started 9th and got a couple of odd SR down I guess from how I was braking and moving in order to avoid drama in front of me without collecting anyone behind. One French Supra (DR B SR A) was driving ahead of me like a drunk and was difficult to avoid, but I made the best of it and worked my way up through the field cleanly, with Supra ending up behind me eventually via penalty. However, that one singular French person ruined it by punting me off on the last corner. Went from 3rd (but was alongside an AMG so was gonna fall to 4th anyway) to 11th, and lost over 2000 DR in one fell swoop and somehow got downgraded from SR borderline low A to a high B. Gutted, but not much I can do!
I think both the Supra and AMG got penalised for that final corner as well, which is ridiculous. The AMG was an innocent bystander who was rightfully gaining position, but I guess since we were both hit by the Supra but the AMG managed to stay on track while I ended up spinning into the wall, I can see why the game might get a bit heavy-handed.
It's pretty difficult to get back up to SR S while actually racing - I'm not one of those people that has the time to dawdle around at the back to get clean races while dumping DR. I don't know how people have the patience.

Seems I'd better be super careful trying Race C tomorrow based on the other posts! I remember in the pre-update thread where the track was announced and everyone was saying how boring and easy Goodwood is... I think this has proved many of them wrong. It can be difficult af if you aren't in the right car moving the right way.

LOL, yes, I am the one and only. I don't think anyone else wants this user name :D

LOL "Lucky Pierre"

This is why racing in lower SR works better with this penalty system.

The A/S crowd has figure out how to get away with all kinds of stuff, while the honest dirty drivers are correctly moderated. I got bumped off at least 3 times, each time the penalty system worked. So now I get to race in SR.S again :nervous:

Yooo, just had the wildest race C... 16th to 8th in the 86 with the typical catch-em-in-the corners shenanigans, is everybody drunk? Dudes spinning everywhere, best strategy is drive transit laps and just eat the positions... had a nice battle with a dude in a jag for a few laps til he caught the spin bug through the last chicane

Also caught SR down for being squeezed narrow in race A, and got a weird penalty in the goodwood race where some clearly frustrated dude rubbed my door up as I passed him just at the end of him serving his penalty, I got SR down and that (I don't mind it, this race is basically BTCC) plus a few other punts saw me end with the red A of punishment... Despite being one of few drivers in the race capable of driving a touring car around goodwood without eating ****.

Was fun though. Almost back to my rightful B rank...
