As announced I tried the Mustang on Goodwood. It's really nearly as fast as the M4 but it feels more stable and less imprecise than the BMW, especially in the right-left-S around St. Mary's and the double-right of Woodcote.

However my races were not as successful as intended.

In the first attempt I started 8th but lost it already in the long Madgwick Corner and went off to the grass. I carefully moved along the track and had the whole field pass me to start my attack from the back. With my usual strategy of careful, smooth turning, braking and short shifting and other drivers going off I was back at 4th when I entered the Pits ending Lap 9. I came out as 10th and passed two cars until running on Lavant Straight in Lap 15 I came upon a Finish Huracan. He lost it at the first kink of Woodcote and I sensed my chance and passed on the right. However he moved along off the track on the left and violently came back to make the chicane. I got thrown at the first barrier and finished 14th. Karma: After the race he didn't have a DR and an SR of E :D; I watched the replay and saw he played Need for Speed. :mad:

In my second race I started 14th and everything went fine. I had some great slipstreaming with a Russian TT and an Italian Scirocco and finished 11th.

Since we have (at least it feels like that) 42 degrees centigrade today along with a humidity of 623% I'm not going to race anymore today. Holding the DS4 feels like a piece of soap. :sick:

Oof! Where was this speed when I used it as my chosen FIA manufacturer? Sadly, my second stint was lackluster when my rhythm was thrown off, when I slowed for a GT-R exiting its pit stop. Got loose on the grass. It was classic BTCC. About a freight train of five cars, blew by my right side. Other cars got red dot specials last couple of laps. At least i got my top ten.

And that's the essence why SR loss is pointless as a disciplinary tool and welcomed by those that want to win at all cost. And also why SR.S is often dirtier than the lower tiers. SR.S is ram to win, or easy win the next race.

Yeah sticking me with a bunch of B/D drivers for a few races was pointless. Yayyy let me win by 30sec and be bored out of my mind. I was so bored that I basically fell asleep with a 20sec lead and ended up 2nd . I got caught daydreaming whoops.

Ended the night with a few good races with DR A/S drivers. Final race I kept 2nd place to a 2-3sec gap for all 15 laps, S/S driver. I would pull a few tenths in turn 1 and a little in the middle sector, but then he would pull it back in sector 3. And there we lived for 15 laps.

I’ve been pitting on lap 9. Tire wear is negligible and this guarantees I don’t get stuck in traffic pitting earlier.
 
I ran Race C yesterday. My strategy was simply to short shift and slipstream to conserve fuel but I never got to implement it. I spent the whole time shifting like normal to try and catch up to people but when I would catch up the speed discrepancy was so drastic (usually due to them blowing an exit or serving a penalty) that I had no choice but to pass.

I started in 9th, got edged and rammed into a wall back into last place, and then climbed my way back into 8th while getting back into SR S. I side swiped some poor guy off of the course at the right hander leading into St. Marys. I stuck my nose in and wasn't able to stay on the right side while he was intent in staying in the middle of the track, unwilling to fade to the left. After that it's just physics and I power slid the car into him and bumped him off. It was risky but he was honestly going so slow and blocking an outside pass which limited my choices. Oh well.
 
Yeah for me the key to success at Goodwood.... build an early lead :lol:

I need to try a different car. The Cayman is great, handles awesome with almost no tire wear, if it werent for fuel I would do a no stopper. The problem is the lack of straightline speed makes you a sitting duck on lap 1 if you don't attack turn 1 and hope to build some distance. Getting caught in a group of idiots changes everything.

I've also been turning TC to 1 for the start. The Cayman sucks in a straight line so I need any advantage I can get on lap 1 lol. I turn off the TC as I shift into 2nd and usually this gives me a few tenths on 2nd. I even managed to jump from 2nd to 1st when a RC had too much wheel spin at the start.

Apart from the idiots, I really enjoy Goodwood, it fits my style and is similar to Brands Hatch but "simpler".
 
Here's my best quali lap so far at Goodwood in the 86GT.. This track is super flowing all the way until the chicane from hell at the end :lol:



Those sub 1'14 laps on the board are seriously fast! WD to that Elite group :bowdown:
 
Lol thought it would be better in the morning. Nope, sitting this out in the pit again. I had two cars with 11 sec in penalties in front of me at the end of lap 1. Not worth spending time on.

Still 4 red S, 1 red B and 3 dropouts, but lap 1 looked surprisingly organized. I got into 2nd after everyone but first pitted. Then let 3rd pass to get back in 2nd when first pitted, and made sure to close the door where unsafe to pass and leave a lot of room and lift a little to let the faster cars pass in safe places.

The first half was weird, instead of me drafting other cars they were drafting my 1:18 fuel saving laps. Slow in fast out was apparently impossible for the cars behind me, so they fell back at the corner and caught up right before the braking zone again. I got bumped from behind once but luckily the penalty system ruled in my favor for a change. I already got to 7th before cars started pitting. No benefit of drafting so nu extra fuel for the second half to try to keep up with the front.

Good race, finally not bumped off!

Every race I've had at Goodwood has consisted of this. Somebody will attempt to pass at T1 and I wind up in the wall, usually lap 2 or 3. Then I fight back up after traffic spreads out. It's actually been kind of fun- I always pass the people who put me in the soup. HOWEVER- it hasn't been as kind to my DR, but I'm maintaining a C.

Yeah, its insane. Smart people would know that their first priority is in logging fast lap times. Conceding a position to ensure a fast exit on Madgwick (turn 1) with a draft to save fuel should be the ideal move there but people keep playing bumper cars and ruining everyone's exit speed. Every lap there would be a car coming out of Madgwick wrong and running practically 10mph slower than the normal line.. but oh, time to block and gum up the entry into St Mary's. Wtf?

You'd think they would dial in basic strategy before employing dirty strategies first.

Why Alsace 2? That track feels funny going backwards. I rather have the original version. Oh well.

Race A: Probably the Toyota 86 again. :indiff:
Race B: Fun track for Gr.4, but a 3 lap sprint at Bathurst is a guaranteed SR killer. :ouch:
Race C: While I appreciate them giving us a new race, Alsace reverse in Gr.2 cars sounds like a combo for experts only. :scared:

Strange.

So far if there was some big real life event then PD would give it to us (or something similar). We‘re heading for 24 heures du Mans on 15th and I expected this (i.e. the upcoming week) to be Race C with Group 1 on Circuit des 24 heures (Sarthe). Well, maybe the following week then.

Nürburgring 24h is being held on June 22nd. I‘m not sure if I should count on a GT3-race there then. :(

And the real tragedy is we don't get to play with fuel maps because it doesn't matter! Saving time in the pit or running without a pit doesn't matter when you're P19 and 30 seconds behind P1.

It'd be rad if there was Gr1 on Sarthe for race C and a Gr3 for race B during Le Mans.
 
Off topic but I thought I'd post it here..

I watched a Rally Racing movie called Pegasus on Netflix. Chinese w/ subtitles. Not saying it's the best or anything. It's very generic, not deep. But if you have Netflix and are looking a movie with some cars in it, give it a shot.

Below average on speed, but the AWD took care of me when I stayed full throttle through that grass in the clip. Better than average for tire wear and fuel consumption. When I pit at the end lap 8, it still has 25% fuel, on fuel map 1.

I don't think it will win any races in the 90-99 SR group, but below that, top 5s are possible. 👍
