Race C update. After a few more figure skating sessions I was determined to get a grip, literally, on the X2019. Here’s what I’ve found:

The key is to nail the braking points, hit the apexes, and have very smooth inputs.

The curbs should be treated like walls.

On exit, be patient with the throttle.

If you want to consistently run faster practice the left hand kink until you can go flat through it.

Lastly, relax and have fun. Drive the track.

Now, I realize these things are true for most races in general but this is definitely an unforgiving car if you mess up your line or corner exit.

Thank you all that turned up for my stream. It was my best stream yet and feel very humble that so many people turned up! Thank you again.

Picked my favourite race of the night, was awesome running in a daily against Akagi and actually causing him a little trouble for a while...

Is it easy to create a second account?? Wouldn't I have to pay again??

I just set up another user account on the PS4 and hey presto.. they can all play online and i only have 1 PS+ account. I've got 3 GTS accounts... it is great to start again and battle through those initial races, just a pain when you realise you have no money and no cars so you have to grind a little. After a few months though i find that i'm about the same level in all 3 accounts  but it does mean that i can race whenever i want and not be fussed about DR/SR.
To all the doubters who assume that people with second accounts don't give a toss about keeping it clean - i don't change my driving style regardless of which account i'm using - i'm absolute filth all the time!:lol: (joke!)

@msgt-sd

Have you built a generator for GT Sport?

Guys, have a look at what he built. It's amazing. I have no idea how to do this but I'm sure this might inspire someone that has the skills required to build a version for GT Sport.

GT6 Random Combo Generator

He's a rock star too!!!
Joe, that random combo generator is awesome. 👍 I wish there was a perpetual daily race based on one of those. I believe it would be wildly popular. For now, it's exactly what we're looking for, for the lobby racing. There's no way I could actually create one of those. :dunce:

I can still make the random races. It's just gonna be far more low-tech.

It's fun to click on the generator to see what cool stuff pops up, yet at the same time, it's kind of depressing to see all of the really fun tracks that GT6 had, that aren't available in GT Sport. :(

I'm foolishly going to try a no stop on race C to see how much SR it's worth. I'm down to 69 after 2 races getting bumped around last night.

My one and only race last night was a no stop. I'm not smooth enough to be trusted with softs or mediums, so I always start on hards. I was running on fumes because I didn't bother to short shift till I realised I had 1.3 laps of fuel left and 2 laps of race left... the race timed out with a lap to go so I made it . I don't think I'll be doing Race C any more.. just doesn't inspire me.... not much inspires me after 2.4 hours of N24 in the dark :odd:.

Had a quick go this morning at race B. The good news is I’m racing clean. The bad; I keep binning it. In just about every way.
Under pressure. Bin it.
No pressure. Bin it.
First lap. Bin it.
Last lap. Bin it.
Running comfortably near the front. Bin it.
A corner I’m good at. Bin it.
Usually only once per race which is what makes it so exciting - You know it’s going to happen more a case of when!! 💡

More qualifying in order I think!!
Don't I know it! My kids heard some of the big words yesterday

Yeah that was too much fun! I was in luck it got dark outside as well so I could see everything very well. In the morning It would not have been possible for me as the sun shines into the window my tv is in front.

No stop worked for me
dk3d.jpg

I slowed down a couple times to let cars pass to make sure I got the CRB. SR went from 69 to 87, 18 point budget on race C this week.

However even without slowing down, no stop is about 5 sec per lap slower or 65 seconds over the race. Pit stop is faster. (Although I can't drive 1:26 laps anyway, for me it's not so clear cut)

I did another no stop, race time improved to 20:06, 15 sec faster, 9 positions gained, 4th place finish, but lost the crb having to scrape a wall not to get hit by a naughty driver with no patience coming back from serving another penalty. SR back at 99 anyway. Enough for today. Driving behind in no stop is much safer, but what I see on track does not invite racing at all. Pinball cars.

"Not enough front end grip" will be etched on my tombstone. Also, my fastest Q time is a 2:04.6. I'm floored when I see the polesitter on 2:02.

I don't understand this. There is plenty of grip. Understeer is what happens if you go into a corner too fast, whether in reality of virtual. That old physics law of "a body in motion tends to stay in motion" applies. Yes. some cars will under steer, but it sure isn't at the catastrophic levels that this forum seems to make it. They understeer in the sense that they do not stay on the line you want them to stay on. It's a matter of a small difference in placement on track.

In the real world, if I blow my braking point, I 100000% expect to end up under steering out into the grass. The video below is a great example. I was at this track on the weekend this happened. They were experimenting with running the track in reverse. I ran this configuration. I can say, with 100% certainty, that this lambo did NOT have brake failure as the driver claims. This guy completely blew the braking point and. as expected, under steered off into the grass. What evidence do I have to call him a liar? Well, for starters, the fact that instead of getting out of his car (the one with a very recent brake failure) he does donuts and tears off for another hot lap. You can analyze the video for other hints.

Not to be disrespectful, but given your 2:04 Q time, I am going to say that you are doing something wrong and the game isn't to blame.

Do you have the driving cones turned on? It seems like you do not. I know the cones get a lot of negative hype, but the cones help and why not use them if they help you understand brake points and turn in points better? Once you know them like the back of your hand, feel free to turn them off.

You are either overloading the fronts by turning in too fast/braking too late... OR ... you could be UNDER loading the fronts. You'll need to experiment to figure out which it is you are doing.

For instance, I found the R8 needed more weight on the front. I tried -1 and it was good. I tried -2 and it was better. I did a 1:59.7, but I just cold not break through. I finally tried -3 and I got down to 1:59.6 and I think I can get to 1:59.5

You could also be using the wrong car. The difference between my best R8 lap and my best Z4 lap is almost 2 seconds.

Well I did 3 races with my 2.04.8xx QT. Race 1 was a P14>P11.
Race 2 was a P12>P10.
Both times I dropped in on the esses L1 and had to recover.
Race 3 I started P9 and I did it again, only this time a Viper behind followed me into the gravel, hit me when we both off the track and gave me a 2second penalty. I had a sense of humour failure, quit and walked away.

Came back after coffee to try and improve my QT. Well... 🤬 you Spoon! And 🤬 you130r! 🤬🤬🤬

To start with I couldn't even get near my previous QT.

23 laps and 80 miles later... I did a thing.

My target for this week was a 2.02.xxx... So, you know, technically...

A bit happier now. The extra .5s is still at Spoon somewhere. But I'm walking away for a bit.

Might get on to see where that time puts me on the grid this evening...

16/16 in a ridiculous lobby no doubt!

Saw the flag in your username and thought you were aussie, then i heard you say "puts' instead of Pits. Ahhh Kiwi.

They're doing major road work near my street with heavy machinery and everything. While I'm doing warm up laps for race C the rumbling starts and I feel it really well in my seat. It's like "oh my, oh my ..... I'm really there !!!":lol::lol:

Seriously, it must be quite a blast to have that feature on your rig ! The immersion feeling must be enhanced 10x.

Looks like a wholesale wipe of all the Goodwood qualifying laps - there are none that have been set before today's date now showing.....

Presumably something to do with the track fix?

My hard earned 1min30s496 is still there, so not wholesale. They managed to find only the offenders.

Not just the offenders - my lap, plus everybody on my friends list, were clean, but have all been wiped!

Uh, ok. I'll be checking later on when this damn adult life get out of the way if my time is still there. Won't be happy if it got wiped.

I think it's a work in progress. Kudosprime is now showing two leaderboards for EMEA. An old one where some dirty laps were still registered and now a new one with clean laps only. Fairly sure that everything pre-extra barrier will get wiped at some point.

I run the Lexus LFA -17 and did a 1:02:124. Can do consistent 1:02:8xx.
Clean, soft lines is faster. And BB was -2.
Put me at 10 in a lobby, made p5, got p6 made p3

What car are you using? Try the RCZ with BB set to -1. It's not the fastest in a straight line, but it's very stable over curbs and it doesn't spin the rear much.

I took a win in it this morning when Speedhunter went wide in T1 on lap 1. From there, I just kept it on the Island. The Porsche behind me went wide at 130R trying to set me up for a pass. I just kept my cool and let everything else unfold.

At last ....a win on race C ! I started 2nd and was able to avoid the wreck on T1. Took 1st and never looked back. I pitted at the end of lap 6. I wasn't sure if I would take softs or mediums but 7 laps on softs seemed a bit much. I opted for mediums and I think it was a good choice ....for my "kind of driving" anyway ;)

I had FL for a while but someone made a better one around lap 9.
At least, SR went up to A after a drop to B caused by a couple of horrific races yesterday.

Thanks Voodoo. Currently using NSX. Love the look of it and like mid engine layout.
I think my biggest issue is getting distracted by gaps to other cars, cars spinning or anything else rather than my braking points.
I think when my SR dropped I generally started top 3 on grid. Now I’m starting mid pack and more going on around me and I #bottledit. Going to try to ignore others more but loving it all none the less. Plus my racecraft is bloody awful!!

Need to keep getting the laps in and try to focus on me!!

So i did some race Cs yesterday and i think going soft and stopping for mediums is likely the fastest method. I just did medium / medium and while good for consistency, i think there is more speed to be gained with a set of softs. The danger with this strategy is that if you spin or get spinned, those softs are toast.

The guy in first on EMEA has never finished inside the top 100 before, seems unlikely his lap is legit :odd: https://www.kudosprime.com/gts/stats.php?profile=4696845

you probably wandering how i got here, cue intro, jokes aside, i tried to see if the shortcut actually works, and did this lap, im pretty fast if i can say so myself but don't do many daily races, anyways, pd if you are watching delete my lap plz, i don't want people to think im a cheater

I haven't checked this with the new update, but until then, the NSX was an oddball for BB setup. You'd figure it needed some negative BB, but it turns out that +2 works really well. Try that.

I haven't tested it at Suzuka yet. I will give it a try :gtpflag:

Thanks again. Car feels pretty stable on the power and has decent turn in. My current fave Gr3 but still not got that many. Been working with -ve BB. I’m most consistent with -4 in mid 2.02s but set best lap on neutral. Will try positive BBs. I’ve got at least an extra half second to drop when I hook up a lap but feels like there’s more in the car for me find!! Would dearly love to break 2 mins but prob beyond me at present!

The "not enough front end grip" thing was a reply to a comment of mine. In my case, it's not a lack of grip. Just a perceived lack of ability to turn in.

Perceived because I've got so used to just throwing the LMP1 cars into corners, that my first few laps at Suzuka were a complete mess.

"Aaaaand, we go wide into the gravel again."

Ive fixed it, now. Mostly.

I had a chance to get out there and put down a few laps. I tried -2 to +2 and can confirm that +1 is the best. I put in a 2:00.421 with +1. I couldn't get below the mid 2:01's with the other settings. I might have been able to get into the high 2:00 with those settings, but I think I can break 2:00 with it at +1.

Never underestimate how much of a difference the brake balance can have and, as I have mentioned in the past, it's not necessarily linear. The Huracan, for instance, is good at -3, and not bad at 0, but between 0 and -3, it gets awful. I wholeheartedly recommend playing with your brake balance in practice for the races.

I'm sure there must be a way. But I guess you just tell people its a Sambabus race only and kick those who decide otherwise?

Having said that, it would probably be just as hilarious to watch someone try to cheat by racing you all around HTM in a Tomahawk with comfort tyres. I'm not sure they'd fair much better. Something tells me the Bus would be easier to control!

Can confirm. Tomohawk (Gr.X) on comfort softs (they have the most grip) at HTM is hilarious. Managed a 1:05.109.

Good to find this forum, first post here! Just got GT Sport 10 days ago. Did a couple of A race last week (best result 3º) and 4 or 5 B races with a Vette managing to get a first win. Now I´m DR D and SR A but I think my ranks raised too quick... I tried Suzuka on monday and got 2:07.x qualifying, last night improved to 2:03.8 but still far off the lap times that my race mates get. Did a race last night to check the pace and finished 13º improving 2 places due to people leaving the race. Is it always like this? Did this gap from newbies to better players seemed way to big for you too?

Been doing some race C this week. It's just the right speed for me- a little slower than SF but a little faster than Super GT. The tire wear really makes it high-stakes. A couple spins and you're pitting no matter what. Spent one race ice-skating around after destroying my mediums and lost 6 positions- it was pretty hideous. I hope those lapping me got a good laugh watching me trying to keep it on the asphalt. Problem is I haven't quite figured out when the tires are "done"; my best estimate is about halfway red?

Cheers - very much appreciated!!
Will try the +1 and generally experiment more. I’d assumed it was linear but clearly not so that’ll really help going forward.
Looking forward to a session tomorrow now and potentially a bit less binning!!

Edit - cheers for replay, looks like I’m losing a little each sector. Useful seeing gears and lines you take.
