For 3 days now, I've just been at Suzuka practicing and not jumping in any race and for the last 3 days, I could not get below 2.02 driving the M6. My best time was 2.02.588 and my optimal was 2.01.986 and so that was my goal thinking high 2.01s would be what I'd need to be somewhat competitive in my lobbies. I went at it again tonight and after 10 laps I still couldn't do better than 2.02.205. Decided to try the R8 after watching the top 10 best lap replay and out of nowhere I pulled a 2.01.746 with my optimal at 2.01.024 and that was after just 3 laps with the car....got all excited and wiped out at casio on my 3rd lap. Since then though, I have not been able to replicate or do better than that 2.01.7 :irked:.....oh well, guess I'll try again tomorrow!

On a side note, what's the deal with that R8 . I don't remember being able to whip it around the track like that. That car used to be one of the cars on my list of "Avoid at all cost" because I could never get a handle on them and now its just shocking how well it handles.

I remember my days on the ds4, my advice on braking... When you are in Qualifying mode, try to only use “half brakes” on every corner, even if you have to increase your braking markers a bit. By doing this you will find that a lot of the time, your braking distance will be shorter by easing on the brakes just using half the pressure, rather than going all out 100%. It will take a while to get a feel for this, but you will learn to keep a bit more momentum improving your lap times.

I tried this during a dedicated qualifying session. It seemed counter-intuitive. Felt weird. I didn't improve my time, but I was itching to race. Next time, I'm getting out the anti-itch creme. Ran 2 races with the Corvette & 3 with the Ford GT. The last race was pure BS. I got out of shape & spun it off track. While trying to get back on track, some car drifts in front of me, spinning himself out. He then spends the next 2.5 laps continuing to scrap with me. He seems to think it was all my fault in the DMs. I told him it was just a game & that I don't care. I had no choice but to block him. Oh, and his bumper car stunt dropped me to D/E. What a worm.

And I just hopped back in the Corvette & got a slightly better 2:02.514. :boggled:

From 20th to 3rd at N24 (yes, late to the thread) the Supra is nice and all, but compared to my M6 it feels very nervous, but the fuel usage was to big a factor on the N24

The fun starts when the other drivers play along, 11th --> 6th place, thanks to some defensive driving and a guy in the VW that played along..

I'll give some of those tips a try. I'm currently on the computer doing other non-GT Sport related stuff (like uploading GT Sport videos ). Do you have any advice for going easier on the brakes? I use a controller. No wheel here. :scared:

My manager's boyfriend (one of the maintenance guys at work) uses a DS4. Auto, X to accelerate, square to brake, and left/right buttons for steering. He's somehow managed a 2:01.205. I'll ask him for a few pointers if I get a chance, and get back to you.

Maybe the game just gives you a 5s headstart for being old skool cool

X to accelerate, Square to brake... Those were the days...

BoP update Can't wait to see ? The RSR is now more heavy than lambo ? Testing start now lolllllll . And i know someone will be Happy they buff the Viper a little :)

Daily race C is a total blast this week! Those red bull cars are so fun to drive. Though I had one bad race first lap had a record 15 seconds in penalties. Then I improved my qualifying so I wasn't quite so mid pack. But was just a blast!

For the first time I played Gran Turismo (1-2) with an emulator... with keyboard :D . Since I got my PS2 and GT3-4 I'm using the sticks (left => L/R, right => A/B) and the triggers for shifting. I tried GT5P back in the day with triggers for accelerate and brake but it was like Godzilla in Tokyo: disastrous...

I just signed with them yesterday :D .

Gr.3 Honda with less power? Mehh. Going to get eaten alive by the Lexus'/Lexi, and Fords of the game. Less weight though? Awesome! Last of the late brakers, here I come! Should help out a fair bit in FIA stuff.

Going to have to give it a run at Suzuka, tomorrow.

I honestly have no idea how he does it. Over a single lap he's damned fast given the controller layout. Struggles with consistency, though. Especially in longer races.

Created an alternate account last night, came second after racing from the back and then set a 1.28.7 in Race A so its obviously to everyone its a second I would imagine.

The lobbies were strange, as they were all E's until I set the Q time, then it was putting one Random A in each grid (presumably someone for me to race) which was fun had a couple of nice duels but its surprising how much cleaner the racing is down in E B. I guess everyone still has the videos ringing in their ears. Managed to pass 10 cars in one race and get a CRB. Its a shame you knows whats waiting for you when you get higher up.

Happy Independence Day to the Yanks!!

Dammit! @Illum_Concept you've got me by a hair on Race A!
Nice, should be a good battle if we get matched up this week. 👍

I'm really struggling to find time to race at the moment though. I've managed two short qualy sessions this week to try to get daily reward. The first got wiped in the reset, and that time you've shown was my very first lap of the second session! Meant to race last night, but "just one mission" on X-Com 2 turned into a six hour overnight marathon. I'm far too old to be doing that anymore, and am paying for it today :boggled:

This has long been one of my main complaints of Sport Mode; the collision physics are inexcusably bad. Since there is no impact absorption, one rear-end collision will just start an indefinite forward chain reaction until someone is punted off.

The way cars ping-pong off each other is straight up unrealistic.

It's impossible to make realistic physics with asynchronous clients. Latency makes every collision and follow up worse, the faster the cars the worse it gets. Collisions are calculated locally, yet the telemetry of the car that hits you is delayed, so while the other might be braking and already going slower, on your screen his speed is still lagging behind your braking which makes the collision worse than it really would have been. Now your car has gained too much speed and the same happens when your corrections lag behind on the screen of the person you hit.

In effect it looks like the person behind you braked way too late or deliberately punts you, while when you hit someone it looks like the physics are off and you punt them harder than what you expect to be a slight bump. You always see the effects of how it happened on the other person's client, which often doesn't match how it happened on your client.

There is no real solution to this except race locally in lan setting.

The 458 GT3 used to be in my 'I'm not racing that' category', but I would still do the qualifying laps, suddenly for the last two Gr3 events, I can push it (relatively for me) hard and complete multiple laps for the first time, I almost want to race it !

Had some incredible races in A last night. Ended up doing 3-4 races against NISMO_GTR_ with each race being within .5 at the finish. We were bumper to bumper the whole race, that draft really keeps you together at Goodwood.

He managed to get past me a few times, he had me on defense non stop. I found taking the inside line for both St Mary’s and Woodcote is my preference for defense but you really gotta nail your braking/turn in to leave the other guy room.

I’d say those were some of my most intense races in GT yet. Equal skill level and equal clean/safe driving. Few of those replays I dunno how we didn’t touch lol. Had my heart rate floating between 95-110.

Managed to go from I think 56 wins yesterday morning to 74 last night which bumped my win percentage to 46% and top 5 finishes to 91%. Not a bad days work lol.

The problem with race A, is if you manage to break the draft early and 2nd gets in s battle with 3rd, they will lose tons of time fighting and it’s then a boring easy race to win. Even my race with Nismo we were losing almost a second per lap in our battle. Which was fine since 3rd was usually way behind, except for one race that turned into a three way battle.

Might jump into race C tomorrow to destroy my Sr/DR lol. See what all the calamity is about.

I use the triggers for accelerate and brake. You just need to get used to slow movements rather than abrupt, On/Off, movements. That will help you trail brake and avoid lighting up the tires on exit.

Also, in that video of the Suzuka lap, there is A LOT of time to be gained by getting the turn 1, turn 2 combination right. If you miss the apex of turn two, it can cost you half a second or more.

Had a couple of races this morning. I’m in queue for one now. No R8 at all so far. I know about the nerf. Its been good lol
Testing this morning and R8 still fast in first section of suzuka even faster than my reference lap ( 1:58.9?? ) but more lazy in straight line so my Best this morning is 1:59.147

Seems to be a multiple line corner (corners?) too. Early apex and feed the power in slowly, seems just as quick as late apex, and stamp on the loud pedal. The main thing is to be smooth on entry, I find.

The 458 was and still is on my list of "Avoid at all cost". I've tried it once, I lost count of how many times I've spun out on a span of 2 laps. I promptly parked it in the garage and have not touched it since. Mind you, I bought it cause I really like the way it looks and I've never been gifted one in the time I've been playing GTS :boggled:

I am really enjoying goodwood this week, and have had excellent luck with clean racers.

I have also had a bunch of good races with nismo_gtr, very fast and clean. I am really enjoying goodwood this week, although i still feel like i a learning the track... lol have managed to trim my qualy time to 28.588 though
