With the Supra I made both the no stop and the late stop (around lap 9-10) work.

The challenge of no stopping was more related to traffic. A lot of people are still driving it flat out and it was easy to get caught out and lose a lot of time.

So, what seems to be the winning strategy for Race C? I don't want to spend the weak figuring it out for myself.

I stopped at the mid point in my one race yesterday, and that didn't seem to be the right thing to do.

Use the NSX. Fuel Map 1. Shift up at around 1/3 of the rev bar. Don't pit. You'll pick up a load of positions. Credit for this strategy also goes to @Lilium

Don't tell anyone about this though it's still kind of a secret

In all seriousness, just find a no stop strategy that you can make work. NSX seems to be the best but other cars can do it too.

Fuel save no stop.
There was a direct comparison between 2 quick guys at the front in the same car (Porsche) in one of my races. No stopper won by about 5s and that was with some battling as well

No stop seems to be quickest but it requires a lot of fuel saving. I did it with the Lexus.

Ok so Sardegna is an absolutely phenomenal track. Treat to drive.

I saw people doing no stops easily on R8s. I did a1:20:9 on AMG as of now. I tried doing fuel saving for a no stop but didnt find it fun. Last 3 races, going all gungho and loving passing people :p

Surprisingly, zero T1 incidents yet. Only it was me in one race where i braked at 50 and hit no one to my surprise.

Brands is a great track to drive but a) is absolutely hopeless for racing and b) I inevitably make a mistake!

Qualified with a 31 flat which i think is not too bad, being paired with higher ranked drivers anyway, and i hang in there in the top 5 or 6 and even clib to top 3 then make one small error and POOOOOF i am 14th dammit. Lost a ton DR points but will hang in there.

I think it’s been like that since last week. Ghosting was so intense in Race C, I was overtaken by a ghost at some point during a race.

Has anyone noticed an increase in ghosting in Race C this week? I am sure the system has been tuned to make it more sensitive and make people ghost more often.
Anyhow it is really enjoyable when people keep trying to divebomb and end up overshooting the corner because they go through your car! :D
All I can say is it has happened a LOT in the handful of races I have done. It could just be the track and the way the algorithm works but I like it.

(...)paired with higher ranked drivers anyway(...)
Yesterday there was a full DR D room with a A+ driver at the top. Of course he just destroyed everybody half a second later and easily gave me a lap (10th). Why is that? How/why did he get in a way lower DR room?

Like this. :)

LMAO, of course, it's that easy. That's why I couldn't figure it out yesterday. Sheesh.

As always, thanks!

That is my biggest gripe in the game. To me, that is faulty matchmaking.

I'd like to try and explain it to you. But I'm not sure anyone really can. A combination of factors to do with DR, SR, and whoever happens to be online entering the race at the same time as you.

Sometimes there's a hundred-million DR/Ds with similar SR who all wanna race and a load of As who wanna race, so they all get ranked and matched accordingly.

Sometimes it's a mix-match-hodge-podge.

Originally, if I had some As in my lobby I'd apologise. Now I just laugh at their impending misery.

Thanks to @MikeV27 @Hasnain282 @watto79 @Rods

I'll give no stopping the focus. That's what I did at the Nurb. Looking at the BoP changes that took place make a lot of sense, the Alfa and RCZ changes make more sense now, as does the 458 and NSX changes. They were great for Nurb, especially the RCZ and Alfa. They don't lose a lot of pace when saving fuel.

I managed it with the Viper last night .. the Corvette tonight... not so much, and it cost me at least 3 places :grumpy:. Race report to come.

They must have fixed the tyre wear issue with the R8. I love the R8, but stopped using it after Catalunya because it chewed through tyres and I couldn't even make it through half the race on hards before having to change. No, driving with fuel saving isn't as exciting, but like chess. It's about strategy... some people find a game of chess about as exciting as watching paint dry, and others find the strategy the ultimate test of cerebral fitness :sly:.

And so we move on to the show with everything but Yul Brynner :p. I went in with the 'vette. I improved my Viper qualy by a second, with optimum a second faster again. That had me starting... P14/18 :odd:. Mixed grid. DR/D with DR/A, B and C interspersed throughout.

Race starts, and this time I manage to avoid getting spun out at T1, which is good... the Corvette I found a lot harder to recover if things go astray. Took me a while during qualy to figure out how to not spin every time I hit a kerb or sand :banghead:. I did get knocked off a few times... I put that down to me having gotten ahead of higher rankings who seem to ignore your lowly presence . I managed to slowly work my way up a little, but then I noticed that despite fairly extreme short shifting, I wasn't going to make it. I was crawling around in 2 gears higher than I should have been to try and save fuel, but when I was approaching the end of lap 14, it said I had 0.1 laps left... had to pit for fuel, and dropped another 3 places. instead of finishing P9 like it looked I was headed for at one stage... I finished P14. People slamming into me, knocking me off the track also earned me orange SRs and time penalties :banghead:.

SR Blue, DR dropped 400. <sigh> another day above DR 1 :indiff:.

Liking the Chess references, dislike you getting pushed off

I got 3rd with the RCZ.

I started 2nd but @WiseGuyTM caught me in the Vette. I couldn't match his pace or the leader's pace in the Aston. The RCZ is great on tires and not bad on fuel, but it has no speed down the straight and if I try to keep up, it starts to drink it's fuel too much. It's great everywhere else.

How you making down there with that earthquake man?? That’s some crazy stuff, I hope all is good in you’re area!
Totally fine. I'm nowhere near that SoCal cesspool. Thank you. 👍

Quick, and possibly stupid, question, especially coming from a supposedly "experienced" player.

Does going off-track in races A and B adversely affect the grip of the tyres?

I only ask because off-roading was my natural environment until I started taking the advice given in this forum, so I probably didn't notice too much.:dunce:

I just got punted by a returning car in Race B and for the rest of that lap and most of the next my Toyota 86 was all over the place!

I think it takes part of the lap to get the dirt/gravel off the tires. In the SF19 you can see the dirt on the tires. Alot of times when i go off track, I almost slide off the next corner because i have no grip.

Yeah it's a narrow track, very tricky overtaking. Today, I raced two times there, starting 9th and 5th, and both races I finished second to last. My worst back to back results.:banghead:

Hi everybody, I am new to this forum. I really like the new track, but in my opinion the Porsche is the best choice. U can drive one Round flat out and u can drive easily to the end without a stop.

I have this a few times if I have a low S (85-90) SR. Than I play with B,C and D. Not very fair for the others.

Raced B once this morning. QT 1:31.447. Started 10th. Rammed off 1st lap. Finished last.

On the plus side I did not get a penalty or SR down for being pushed off.

Quality of driving was laughably poor. First lap, first turn, one of the cars in front missed the entry a little, next car slows down, I slow down, the next 4 cars behind me go for the gap, other cars be damned. So different from yesterday. Oh well, try again tomorrow.

Huh.

I did the no-stop technique, dropped back to near the end of the grid and came... 11th overall?

Seems others are having more success than me. Was I not pushing it enough? Ended with 2 laps left of fuel in the tank. (Sorry for the double post!)

EDIT: Also, for clarification I've never really done a no-stop method before so it felt kinda alien to me.

Shock, horror, people! I have actually gone racing today.

Two runs at race B: my self imposed caveat for the week; British cars only. My best lap so far is in the 32s in the Jag, which I took out to race. It went relatively well until I got shunted off t2 by a divebomber whilst going around the outside of a slow car at the apex. That sort of ruined things and I dreaded the red A would return but, on this occasion, PD had my back and I finished with the only blue S I could see in the room. It was a real shame as I'd made an excellent job of avoiding contact and the Jag was really quick through the turns at the Gp (latter) part of the track. I was just thinking I might save the replay when I got shunted to Oblivion to chill with Mehrunes Dagon.

So a little later I dusted off the stock livery Aston - I really haven't shown my Brit racers enough love - and I couldn't beat the quali time while waiting for the race because mistakes - a lotta mistakes, real @Pigems qualifying session but without the fast lap. But I felt comfy in the car and didn't have that niggling "should I be doing something witb the brake balance?" feeling I'm prone to. I really prefer to try and find a car where I don't feel like I have to touch that setting. If i do, even on someone's recommendation, it's always too present in my mind when I'm racing.

So, the Aston race; a very polite German chap in the Ferrari started one position ahead of me - lots of "lets have a clean race" so I set my goal on racing him and not dying. Lap 1 was a feeler and I sat behind him whilst we gained places from the spinners and sinners of Brand's Hatch. Lap 2, he was fighting the car ahead a little, and I got an excellent exit down Paddock Hill and braked at the bridge on the inside for Druids, passing both cars with some rather deft trail braking if I do say so myself. I knew I was fast around Graham Hill so felt confident pulling away. There was chaos through the GP half and we humble clean racers, surrounded on all sides by Renaults, soon found ourselves up battling for 3rd and 4th. I had the better of him at the end of lap 3 and my eyes set on the podium as 3rd and 2nd were battling all over the road and looked primed for a mistake... But it was me that made it, squeezing the power early down the hill and plowing into the gravel. After a desperate last lap recovery drive I finished 7th, 4 positions gained. The Ferrari finished a very deserved 4th, and credit to the German chap driving for a fun and clean race that I bottled of my own volition. Not the bitterest defeat for me to swallow. That's Brand's for you. Do not let your focus wander out there, people.

I will do more races there - to try the McLaren and hopefully climb up the lap times a bit as well. Happy racing people!
