I slept crooked as all hell last night and have some major back/nerve pain. But I'm trying. Race c is fun...once you get ahead of the dicks

Just got a 2nd in b. 911

Well that pinched nerve has turned out to be the bain of my last 5 days. Constant pain. Searing pain, like circulation has been cut off to my left arm....
Anyhow went for a massage today and grabbed a quarter of the finest Lebanese hash to come through these parts. Pain is manageable so I tried racing today. Automatic tranny and driving with my right hand. Let me tell ya, it's a blast. And I'm getting decent times.

All I need now is a dart hanging out of my mouth and some Whitesnake blaring in the background

Wow, Lebanese pollen... What a blast from the past! Hope that eases off for you soon, my man.

It's been a few month since i last played and trying to get back into the groove (again). Race C seems to be the most fun. Sardenga is a great track!

So whats the winning strategy? no stopper? 911, merc or supra?

Got a quali time of 19.6 with the NSX which is putting me in pole for most races today but starting at the front is hard in the NSX. I don't think i can 1-stop it at the front.
Managed a 20m45s total time in the NSX with 1 stop including tyres. Could maybe bring that down to a 20m40s at best.

Race C and the RSR... can it be no-stopped with short-shifting only, or does it still require some FM tinkering?

And personally I’m not really enjoying this trend of races that reward extreme fuel saving. I absolutely appreciate a bit of short-shifting to save some fuel to gain a slight advantage in the pits, but doing it for a whole race is tedious.

This is why im going back to race b. Race c was pretty fun but its a fuel saving contest which is not for me.

I cant seem to get the handle on gr4 at brands. I enjoyed it in gr3 but cant seem to get it right with a slower car for some reason.

I use the GTS companion app

Assuming it has some merit then? I'll have to give it a look.

All I'd say is, the margins aren't close enough. For instance, if P1 is short shifting and no-stopping, then the only way for those behind to win, is to short shift and no-stop. It should be closer, so that if you absolutely belt it round, stop for new boots and go again you have a chance of being quicker.

Right now the gap is too big.

On my second day off work. Focused on hot lapping for race C ths morning. Down to a 1:20.750 in the Supra. I've just picked a car and gone with it rather than chopping and changing. Not a bad time for me in a GR3 car.

Will chip away at my Race B time this afternoon (currently 1:30.748 in the 4C). I struggle with Brands Hatch, so need to rectify this. I'd be happy if I get below 1:30.

While the fuel saving races can get tedious they do filter out the hot-headed racers a little. Alot more patience is needed

I enjoy it much more because it levels the field, like a rain race would. Since you can't use power, you MUST focus on the line to keep the pace up.

What I like most is that the usual suspects of cars are not necessarily the best to use in the race. I've seen a bunch of 911's in race, but I haven't seen anyone win with it in my races. Last night, I finished 3rd behind a 458 and a Supra. I was running forth in the Alfa hanging on to the tail of the pole sitter in an R8. I might have even been in there for a win but some aforementioned hot heads made a mess of things in the beginning and I lost time dealing with their baloney.

And I wouldn't call the fuel saving extreme. When Q laps are in the 1:19-1:20 range and fuel saving laps are in the 1:21-1:22 range, that's not far off.

Personally, I'd rather there were no fuel stops. Like @RedRockValley stated, this race requires patience. I wish more people would realize that. I've lost a couple races now because I got into a corner to corner battle with people, which slowed us both down, instead of having them wait for their opportunity to get me back somewhere else.

Did 4 races last night after 12 since i wasn't sleeping. All were good and clean, even though people are clearly having a tough time with the car the folks i raced last night were keeping it clean. I got my time down to 36.699 with room for more....

And this happend last night....

Last night, I did a couple of A races, for the first time this week. Nice car/track combo, but as usual, it's a lap too short. Anyways, I managed to capture a funny incident. These guys should be pretty well-known to people who do race A often.

So, the green car bumps the yellow car on the last turn. Then, on the straight, he slows to give the spot back to the yellow car, but the white car and myself are right there to take his spot, also. I don't know whether it was was giving up 3 spots that bothered him, or he just missed his braking point, but he didn't get slowed down enough to make the first turn, and ended up taking out the same guy he was trying to apologize to.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Oh, and he clipped my fender as he slid by, giving me SR down and a 2 second penalty. Oh well. Not much I can do about that.

Edit: Too bad Sven's not around. He loves these kind of penalties. :p

Did some tinkering with me old youtube. We're properly set up now with a GTSport specific channel as opposed to spamming my personal page with random vids.

Eventually put together my Postcards from Suzuka compilation. It's a little longer than I normally go for, so just a pre-warning in case you do actually have something better to do and were just pretending when you hit the play button.

The rest of my Career DR/D series is here if you really are bored... I'll be uploading the best (worst) bits from Brands Hatch soon enough, exploring the lofty heights of DR/C for as long as it lasts...

My qualy is 1.22 and in the race i can do 1.25 consistently while short shifting pretty significantly, sometimes 1.24 and i still had to cut back even more. It probably comes down to me being trash more than anything.

The fuel saving is winning at the moment because it doesn't slow you down enough, if they opened up the tyre choice, that might make the difference, the choice between flat out on softs with a stop and a no stopper on hards with a bit of fuel saving would be a more interesting race.

That's hilarious. Including GTSport deciding it was clearly all your fault

I had a not dissimilar experience at Suzuka last week, coming out of the last chicane on the last lap someone is slowing to give a position back. I seize the opportunity and claim it too. I want to say I felt bad .... but I didn't. It was kinda funny when they realised 2 positions were going to be lost and was driving in a way to try and give back 1 spot and stop me from overtaking at the same time. We all had a good laugh about in the chat afterwards.

I agree with this, only having Hard tyres available is an odd choice. If they want to encourage mixed strategies you need more tyre options, especially as the hard tyres easily last the race distance. Mix things up with the softer tyres and make pitting a much more viable option.

Just sitting here waiting for the midnight run in half an hour. I did some laps with Herbie. Hooly dooly! That thing handles the kerbs and off track excursions like it's the rally cross version! Last night I cut a second off my Viper time with the Corvette. I cut nearly 2s off that time with the Beetle. My guess is that it's either rubbish on tyres or has really bad fuel economy .

I dislike this mindset. If people spent as much time practising to get fast as they do racing, there would be less frustration. That's what happens in real life. At every race, there is two days (or more) of practice prior to a race. Everyone needs seat time.

In my first race, I did a stop. The game said the stop took just over 11 seconds. Given the time to get back up to speed coming out of the pits, the real hit is likely just a little more.

But if you can go at least 1 second a lap faster by not saving fuel, you should be able to build up a decent gap by lap 11 or 12, then use that extra fuel to close in on anyone who may have passed you. You can just skip the tire stop and go for only fuel.

EDIT - Nevermind. Just tried it again and stopping is a waste of time. Fuel saving is definitely the way to go.

The racing is not nearly as good this morning. Haven't made it around t1-2 clean in 4 races.... sigh, some people just have no patience (please be hearing the amazing GnR song in your head now) everyones goal should just be to hold position till after that second turn....

Yeah, I should be ashamed of myself.
For all the game knows, I nudged him, which caused him to go out of control and hit the other car. I doubt it will ever be possible for the game to differentiate between that and what really happened. :indiff:

Moon is full. Never seems to change, just labelled mentally deranged... Yeh.. my 2s faster time got me bubkis, nada, nothing, zero, zilch . Same starting spot as last night.. P14/18. About the same mix too .

Game set me off not quite strait coming out of the final corner and off we go. The bug short shifts like a champ and I wasn't loosing any time at the start, even catching up to people... then I had a dive bomber at T1. He missed, but it unsettled me, then I misjudged the angle I needed for the speed I was going at T3 and ended up in the sand, and down to last place. I was really struggling with that corner. Went off at least 4 times there, and it cost me way too much time. The beetle has a lot more potential than I realised. It didn't reach the half full mark till lap 10. Having been lapped by P1, I was able to gauge my pace, and short shifting, had I been on a DR/D grid, would have cost me nothing. I wasn't really noticing the tyre wear either. In the end I finished P16. I kinda feel sorry for Herbie.. so much potential ruined by it's driver :guilty:. The corner I was having the trouble with could have easily been taken comfortably in a lower gear without hurting my fuel usage :banghead:. Just don't have the enthusiasm to go again, and tomorrow will be another car.

SR blue. DR down another 600... I'm down to 3 figures :nervous:. Another day above DR 1 :indiff:.

Had a few good ones after that last post. Perhaps the rif raf had better things to do lol even had @sturk0167(nice race btw) in that last one. Was a good race which woulda been a good replay with a few sexy photo ops but i forgot to save it, oops. Was great as always to share the track with a fellow gtp memeber:gtpflag:

Word to the wise, the 650 Gr3 is THE WORST CAR EVER.

I almost have it in the 1:19 in qualifying, but in the race it is USELESS!! I got knocked off at T1, but I should have been able to claw my way to a decent position. The 650 had other ideas.

First off, fuel savings with it doesn't work at all!! Balls out or conservative, you get the same results. I tried to stretch it, but even short shifting on map 6, I had to pit at the end of 13. I can pit at the end of 10 if I giv'r.

So, then, I pit in the 2 laps needed and GTS's stupid fuel calculation screws me over and I can't get the "2.1" laps of fuel I get is actually about 1.7, so I coast across the line...in LAST.

David Perel just talked about this in his latest video. He is going to a new track and if lucky he will get 10 laps before race, and expected to be on pace after 6.

I had a ton of fun in that race. I enjoyed battling with you and uncletentwenty3 (that guy is always so good at the A races). For the first three laps, it looked like we might have a chance for a 3-way photo finish, but at the start of lap 4, I made a slight mistake, which allowed p4 to get alongside me. That really killed my corner entries and exits. I beat him, in the end, but I was bummed to not be challenging you two at the finish.
Excellent job done by you, sir. 👍
