In terms of qualifying laps, Time Trial mode and Sport mode qualifying will be identical. You just have to make sure you've made all the changes to the car that Sport mode does. BoP if applicable, tires, suspension, transmission settings. In Sport mode, all settings are Default.

Although, I don't know if anyone has ever definitively proven whether time of day factors in the car's performance. Maybe I'll make that into a research project.

thanks. I was curious because my time with the GT4 at brands in the time trial mode (BoP/ RH) surprised me (seemed unrealistically fast for me). I struggle with understeer in that car at this track, uncomfortable and not very smooth. The GTR feels better, but the times are slower. I havent tried the 4C yet. spare time this week is not ideal, i just dont want to set an official time (not that it matters) if a cant work on it.
👍

How can that be bad? We Vikings always liked islanders.
And as an amateur photographer I have a soft spot for beautiful places

Self detrimental humour

It's lovely here. Stunning little island to live on. This is a 15/20 minute walk from my front door.

I can't say too much on the matter. I'm dating one of you. Sarah is originally from Sandwich. We went down to stay with her parents, and they tortured me.

I say tortured. They took me to posh restaurants, that didn't have burgers on the menu. What kind of savage doesn't put a burger on a menu?!

I'm alright, man. Thanks. Well, maybe not alright. Better than I was. I can think. Which is nice

Good stuff.
Sandwich is nice. But I know what you mean. We're Canterbury. Pretentious hipster-ville. You know. The worst kind. We have burgers at least. But they are flipping pricey.

It's worse than that. Anglesey.

I'm an islander.

My wifey (also a Sarah) is from the Lake District. So we do try to get up north for the scenery as and when we can!

I got a couple of laps in around Brands Hatch again this evening. Still 2-3 tenths outside my best. Still 1.5 seconds to gain in theory... Sigh.

I'd hike down there to do some fishing. 👍

You may catch a few 3 eyed fish if you did, unless they've managed to clean up the Irish Sea over the years.

But Anglesey and that whole North Wales coast is a wonderful place to go. We had great views of the Welsh coast from where we used to live.

Also used to holiday close to Amlwch on the island. So quiet and peaceful.

I've had so much fun at Sardegna B the past couple days. The more I race on the track the more I enjoy it, and it seems fairly well balanced so no one car dominates every race. I'm also glad the race pushes twenty minutes, I'm always disappointed when the "long" race is fifteen or sixteen minutes.

I've been fairly successful doing a no-stop in the 911 (which is my usual Gr.3 go to anyway), driving the entire race on fuel setting 2 and doing some minor short shifting.

I had a very good race yesterday going from 16th to 6th, but it was one of the few times I was lucky enough not to get murdered in the first lap. Although I still manage to gain a few positions in those races because a lot of people can't be bothered to fuel save for a no-stop.

Sardegna. Day one, first few laps.

Any pointers, lads and lasses?

3rd corner you can do flat. You’re lifting.
2nd last corner you are turning in too early which is making you get off throttle for longer. In the nsx I can use the gear change to help rotation. Try and work that in.
Last corner is hard and is make or break for any lap. You could do with a little improvement there. You want to be full throttle off the apex. In the video your coasting past the apex.

Trying Daily Race B because I want more laps on GT4 cars and need more practice on Brands Hatch since I don't drive on that track often. The Alfa is so weird now. I remember it rotating more in the center of the corner but less so on corner entry and exit (unless you make it slide) but now it rotates so much on the brakes but I feel like it can't turn at all when on throttle and it fights you when you are off the brake and throttle. Trail braking seems to unsettle the car than not trail braking which is weird but it can happen I guess. If I push hard on medium and slower corners it may slide a bit (might be the braking or kerbs to be honest) but it mostly understeers, but, if I push hard on entry on faster corners the rear slides out but then grips mid corner even if I'm steering into the slide. Like what is that?

Anyways, if the leaderboard was frozen for the rest of this week, this would be the second time I am under 1 second from the leader of the region after 10 daily race attempts. 1:29.464 is my lap but I need to do better with sectors 3,4, and 5. I'm losing over 8 tenths in those sectors and that is simply unacceptable.

First race of the week went well, the guy starting 2nd forgot to rev up his motor before the start and fell back into 4th by T2. Unfortunately he was the only one who could have made it a race, but he got stuck in traffic and I ended up clearing the field by 6.5s in the end. He did make it back up to 2nd place though and it sounded like he had a nice clean race with the guy who finished 3rd in the post race chat. That’s always nice to see. :)

Edit: I was feeling really comfortable with the track after that race for some reason so I went back to do another Q session, after about 15 laps I was coming within a couple tenths of my best lap so far. So I backed out and re watched Lester’s Lap one more time, then I jumped back in and Boom!! 35.6!! :D

I ain’t beating that one anytime soon.

It really surprises me how slow the Camaro is off the starting line in this game. It only spins it's tires when you're turning.
The guy in this video gets a launch that's a little closer to what I want. 👍

This is the type of stuff PD should be doing.

I think it’d be great to see perhaps once in a while, mandatory compound use like at the World Tour events.
That would make things far more interesting and it would give me a fairer chance of winning...

Well that’s it for me tonight on gr4 Brands.
I ran one race, I began fourth, lead pack...lap 2 third flies off. Good third...
Of course the expected final lap turn 1 Audi TT punt attempt comes, he was so far back I was like huh when I felt the hit...
I ran the Ferrari, only one on the grid...
So I hold outside pretty well and try to stuff him off onto the grass on the right, but he got all sideways in the tt and it’s ridiculous front wheel drive worked to keep him ok. Then a Brazilian jumped by with contact so I shoved him off diving up his inside going up the hill...I almost caught the jerk that cheated but not quite...Race is too short for good racing.
Took four seconds for it ended fourth.
That’s what I mean about a race like this when facing the cheaters. It ruins the fun.
If you are behind someone at Brands you can bump them off anytime you feel like it...On a positive note the Brazilian who tried to bash by was one I have seen before and I owed him so that was nice...
The Ferrari works well in race, except for the fact the TT can’t catch it which causes frustration for the tt driver and results in him barging ahead. I ain’t got time for that!
I chose the Ferrari and it’s quite solid in race...Maybe one more....not sure...If I see that guy again he gets a very special present from me...

Edit:

I must say the Ferrari feels so smooth in the turns on wheel and it pulls nicely midrange...Also I have noticed more now that progressively loading the tires results in slightly higher grip limit even without sliding a bit.
I like that Ferrari!
Maybe next time I race I will choose the Mustang turn on tcs and block like a son of a gun!

Need assistance. Any of you fine folk use automatic transmission? Is there a way to drop gears quicker? If I recall you used to do the ol double tap on the brakes and it'd drop two gears.

Race C is a blast and beautiful. I am constantly catching myself looking for faces in the mountains. (Acid flashbacks)

Well, I got my qualifying time down by 7/1000ths :p

It's now 1:19.950. I took some advice and swtiched my Ferrari from my usual -2 to a -1. It made the difference.

Also, there was a bunch of people (in the race) asking about how to save fuel, and I know some of the forum readers are wondering how (exactly) it's done. So, I am sharing a lap of me doing it in the Ferrari. This isn't my fastest lap doing this, but the technique is the same.

Not that i know of. Sorry

I remember in the older games, always thinking i could "trick" it to downshift but was never able to prove it to myself lol

Just took a crack at Race B, sitting at 1:29.075 and kicking myself because I have another 2-3 tenths easy. Ran 4 races, pole for each. Very tight group with top 10 within a second. Won all 4, nearly threw away the last one with a nasty tank slapper coming out of Dingle Dell on lap1

Just clipped the grass and nearly went all the way round. Thankfully I had a 2sec gap and was able to keep position. Love the track, but yeah the Megane is too easy/fast.

Well. this is the only traction control they had back then. I had these slapper bars on my '67 Camaro. The one in the picture is a '69 SS 427 Camaro. They helped a little.

I'm really enjoying driving the Z28 for Race A. I'm currently at 1:37.2 and the tenths are getting harder to come by. Just cannot nail that downhill right hander. If you don't hit it right you just scrub off so much speed. Only done qual so far, but hopefully I'll get to race in the next couple days.

Been testing the sarda B on daily C today. Really mixed feelings about the track.
Daily C q time with R8 1:20.191. Will find that missing 0.2sec. Any suggestions? I think that I suck at last tight left. And not carrying enough speed to the straight.

Try to minimise the sliding. I noticed you doing that in at least three corners and it slows you down. Theres probably a tenth or two to be found in the last straight due to that slide. Try brake a little earlier and power on earlier there?

So I tried some no stoppers in the NSX today and its doable at the front but not fun.
However mid race i lose a lot of pace compared to 911s but i get it back towards the end.

I drop it mixture 6 once i hit 220km/h on the main straight. and mixture 2 from the horse shoe down the hill to the right hander heading back up.

I got a 20m40s and could prob get that better. I struggle with turn 1 and braking too early as im going too slow compared to hot lapping.

Back on my AU account starting in 5th (only have a 20.2 quali time) - its much easier using the same strategy as i almost had a lap up my sleeve as i could follow people.

I am also interested in learning more fuel saving but what exactly you did here? Just half way up the rev counter, changing gears up is what you are trying to show here?Short shifting or i missed something

I did wonder who/if anyone was going to put their hand up and admit to that one. Whilst refraining from too much self deprecation, you must be having a real slow news day!

I'm very honoured. Considering I'm South East, and you're North West we're pretty much as far apart geographically as England can keep us. But a beer can be owed for sure!
ok, i'll admit it... i clicked subscribe by accident :lol:

@FUNanywhere Yup, he was changing gears way before the rev limiter. normally works wonders rather than revving all the way up on Economy fuel maps

@sdi_03 Turn 1 you have to try to slide less. brake a bit more towards the corner at the end, and you'll be able to put quickly the power down.

Turn 3 only lift near the end of it if you're going to the grass. Pay attention that at the very end of the corner the car turns well and you can just be 5-10 cm's near the grass. Where you lifted just keep powering on and change up a gear. You need to use all the corner.

Turn 4 you also need to widen the exit angle to put all the power down and accelerate well out of it.
Turn 5 you have to make it a bit tighter.

On the last two corners if you don't slide you'll gain a pretty good chunk as well.

@Bivittavus88 What car are you using?

Btw guys, on the 911, do you guys shortshift at the moment the Bar shows up. I still haven't been able to complete a race with it without changing FM.
I'm going to try the Ferrari tonight.m and then probably the GT-R though with that turbo torque it will be quite handfull.
