Hmm, this thread is turning into the daily time trial discussion. Anyone still racing?

I did 2 races tonight. Actually had planned on three yet nature intervened. I had already entered the race and with 6 minutes left on the timer, or 9 until race start I went out to put the cover over the pool. Plenty time, unless. It turned out an eastern hog nose snake had crawled into the solar blanket since it gets very warm in there. Normally they fall out when I hold one end up to drain the water before putting it on the pool but this one hang on to then fall into the pool as I unwound the thing. Wow, they are fast swimmers. I chased him around the pool with the leaf net hoping he would tire out at some point. However since the water is 84 as well, not much luck with that. Eventually he calmed down to stay in the leaf net long enough to help him out of the pool. No dead snake plugging the filter over night. When I got back in I was disqualified for ignoring penalties grr.

The other two races went great. I improved my best lap time to 9:06.9, and got 2nd place finishes both with fastest lap.

The first one had no clean star since the Brazilian behind me bumped me once for SR Down and clean streak reset. I did gain a whole position in the first race since I started 3rd in that one. 2 races is enough, so slow. First one we swapped positions a couple times, each pass took almost a minute lol. Second race 3rd attempted to pass from Bergwerk to the high speed left, side by side through the whole middle straight until he eventually gave up. Come alongside too soon and you run out of steam... He had a 0.5 sec penalty from earlier so fell almost 2 sec back on the final straight, harsh.

Two second places still don't compensate for the first disconnect, still 600 DR down from yesterday. Same thing yesterday where I go DC during the race, had 2 second places after and still 800 DR loss overall. So DR still going down despite consistently finishing second.

Race a
report 2 took 12 seconds for rage punting.
No more tonight.

I was gonna do a copy of the shakebake with the prefix, but the more I thought about it, I realized that not only is that a little unoriginal, but also in striving and worrying about rating, the very thing that was driving me no pun intended brought me less fun. What would I do with my primary? So it would just sit there?
I’m gonna back my rating down because it’s pretty pointless to just get punted by 1700 race completed 60k gamers who just can’t handle being behind.
Lol I really did wanna go SNB_ but really, for me there’s no valid reason to give a crap about ratings at all.
What matters is fun. This is not a job lol.
Change of mindset in a healthy way methinks.
I’ll probably try some c races and b because lol.
At some point top 200 times makes the game un fun for me.

Having a tough time finding the right car for race b.

The AMG is my ole standby but just doesn't have enough top end speed for me.

McClaren seems to be a favorite although I have a hell of a time controlling that beast. Seems like it's made of plastic it's so lightweight.

GTR has so much oversteer I always spin out on the last turn.

Recently been using the Corvette and set my fastest lap in it. Anyone try the Vette on race b?

I use the Mclaren F1, I find it's good as long as you adopt a slow in fast out way of driving, once it settles on the exit it hooks up really well.
And it is dam fast in a straight line.

I had a good early morning this morning 2 race B wins in the Mclaren, 1 a pole to flag boring race, the other a much better battle, started 2nd on the grid and stayed within a 1 second of the leader for 5 laps before he overshot the last corner and lost 5 seconds.

Race B Report.
Managed to get my Q down to 52.523 which is currently enough for 398th in EMEA... still aiming for a <52.499 time.

I did maybe 6 races last night. The first was a wreck fest that ruined my SR. That was quickly remedied... managed 3 pole positions, 1 win and 4 podiums.

Oh & i discovered i'm on SuperGTs YouTube video this week. He passed me into T1 after i bottled my defence due to stage fright :D

AMG just doesnt cut it on the straights. All time is lost on the straight at Race B.

Also i cant take the final corner at TCS 0,90% i spin on TCS 0.

i could only muster 52.748 and that was a reduction from about 52.883 and 40 laps later! I had to leave the room because my t-shirt was stuck to my back and my knackers were stuck to my thighs
I must have had at least 10 occasions where i was ahead on the delta only to bin it at the last corner :banghead:

I'll check out that SGT video for your 15 minutes seconds of fame

I know that feeling, i'm sure I lost a kg or two last night!

i guess you could call it racing..

5th to 12th and the guy that wiped out 2 cars gets no penalty and 8th to 4th. i dont know why i try and race clean, i just get punished. i might as well just hit people and reap the rewards. penalty system is so backwards..

Hey stalkers! Haha noticed a few people wondering about certain techniques I use from time to time. I'd be happy to answer your questions here or preferably on twitch twitch.tv/Turismo_lester. Happy trials!
Sincerely yours,
Lester

Hmmm...
Thanks, eh!

Couldn't help myself last night. Went for two more iterations of self punishment around Sardegna.

Dropped my QT by more than .5secs before the first one. Which left me on a 54.003... No one wants that. I was also overly optimistic it might help me out on the grid. But no. Despite setting a faster time, I now start lower down the order. High five matchmaking algorithm, high five.

Did a P11 > P7. Kinda fun. No incidents.

Then did a P7 > P5. Here I experienced my first actual first corner wipeout of the week. But the whole incident renewed my faith in people and racing. The instigator, a fellow Brit, waited for me despite the fact I'd ended up right at the back. So the two of us then raced together back through the field. He also apologised post-race and I said thanks and we had a laugh. The laugh being the old - 'never rage quit, you just never know what'll happen' thing.

We sat P7 & 8 for ages until final lap when we closed in on two Spaniards in P5 & 6 who had a last corner incident and donated said positions to us.

Funny old game.

Now that happy with my Sardegna Q time, I'll be trying a couple more races tonight.

Couple more in the Mariner Jack 'Vette, I think. It doesn't have the outright pace to set a great quali lap. But, handles itself pretty well with a slipstream.

One race C yesterday by cell phone uplink. Started p11, finished p13, with a 5 as door number. SR blue, DR down 300.
Quoting myself... In that race I got pushed off three times and ran off one by my self. Amazingly I didn't get the punishment, the offender's got those. First one in first corner, he pushed me into the wall and landed himself A5 second penalty

Did a few race A's. SR taking a beating, dropped from A to C. Every race seemed dirtier than the last one. Stopped entering this race before my DR gets reset.

Did 3 race C's. The Suzuki is slow, but all three races were good and clean. 2nd race I ran side by side with another car most of the way up the long long hill, around the right hander at the top and then he finally got fully past at the carousel. No panel bashing throughout the whole time. So it is possible for people to race clean after all. Regained some SR and faith in the GT Sport community at least.

The minute you do that, you’re going to get penalized lol.

Yeah that’s messed up. Took out 2 people.

GT Sport: Good move!

Really enjoying that livery.

Excellent point. The shift has been noticeable. I blame the weekly races 100% for that.
Monday morning I did 2 Suzuki races from the back. Since then, I've only done qualifying laps the last two mornings, before work. My time isn't all that great (9:14.9). I've had some laps going where I was pacing around 9:10, but made errors and blew it. If I spent a bunch more time on it, I may be able to put it all together and get to about :09, or so.

Yesterday I was thinking about it, and decided that I'm just gonna race with my okay time. The idea is that if I manage to get that perfect magic lap, I'd be starting in a position that's gonna be well above my real race pace, and I'll just be dealing with a bunch of pressure from behind. I have little chance of winning that race, so why add a bunch of tension to it. I guess I'd rather start somewhere in the middle and shoot for gaining a couple of spots before the end. :indiff:

Live from PD Head office:

"Kazunori-Sama, we're seeing that MaxAttack's ps4 has died..."

"Good, good... Begin operation Willow-Springs-finally-in-the-dailies... And let's not have Suzuka, Fuji or Autopolis... Maybe something actually fun like... Gordini at Tsukuba? "

"Ah yes, Kazu-sama, that WOULD be fun... MaxAttack will be most displeased"

Big Willow!

And Maggiore GP

Two of my best and favorite tracks.

Can’t wait.

I love GR.1, hmm I don't like Maggiore. I love Big Willow, hmm I don't like GR.4. Why do you tease me so much PD!
I remember GR.1 at Big Willow, that was fun!

Initial thoughts:

Race A - Gr.X at Tsukuba with Sport Soft tires for 5 laps - not a fast car. At first, I thought maybe the kart, but it can only be used with racing slicks. It will have to be one of the next low-powered cars in the Gr.X class. It definitely will be the Gordini or the BMW i3. Gordini is most likely. 👍

Race B - Hell yeah! Thanks for bringing Big Willow back to the dailies, @Hasnain282. I'll start getting my Lambo tuned up.

Race C - Gr.1 at Maggiore will probably be a hybrid-dominated race. I hate driving those things.

All in all, not bad. A & B are the ones for me. :)

Well damn! Looks like I need to make a Mariner Jack livery for the TS050 as well . . Not really a fan of Willow Springs. So, I'll be spamming Maggiore.

Hmmm...... I thought Gr.X cars don't have a BoP option, yet the event calendar says race A is Gr.X with BoP on. Can anyone explain what's going on, there?

In RB Jr it said the same thing and was 100 power 100 weight. I guess it's just so nobody adjusts power and weight when it comes to it
