Yeah it's definently a problem. But how do you distinguish between accidental disconnection and purposeful hard shutdowns?

What's so wrong about a deliberate disconnect as long as you do it safely. Last night one of my kids started crying right at the start of the race so I pulled over (started in second, would be bad to let it roll out) and disconnected so auto drive can't screw anyone over. -2000 DR -5 SR. Really why would I want to disconnect starting in second? Sure give the DR points away, yet SR as well?

And just to pile up on the SR complaining, I went from S to B in one race because someone rammed me from behind. Got the SR penalty AND 10s penalty. Very, very happy with the new system... #not

well it can be abused like anything else i guess.

i like that even after big mistakes everyone is still obligated to race it out.

I understand that life can get in the way of racing, but unless they add a "get me out of this race my kids are screaming" button then I dont know what to say other than that sucks. I dont race while my fiance is awake. she will want my attention at some point during one of my hours long racing stupor

I agree, SR should not be affected by disconnects. No good reasoning behind that other than the semantics argument of "well quitting a race is bad sportsmanship" but thats weak lol

Edit: it gets irritating in lobbies when a big mess happens and half the lobby quits the race. Starting grid of 10 down to 4 by the end of the first lap. I would be if this happened in Sport Mode

A lot of time can be gained on the two wide left handers. Ideally on the first left hander you wanna half brake at the 50 marker and trail brake into the inside of the turn. I let go of the brakes at 150-155km/h. The hard part though is when to floor it. Honestly I don't have any markers at when I floor it, but I know I did it correctly when the car fans out wide to the outside curbs at ~180km/h
At the flat out esses steering rythm is important. Get it right and you're 3-5km/h faster than usual. I turn in early at the esses (halfway through the curbing each turn), so that's another 1/10ths cut
The second left hander I half brake in between the 50 marker and the end of the curbing on the outside, and ideally when I stop braking I'm at the middle of the track (I don't have markers again at when to stop braking, sorry). Also, when you stop braking at that turn, you immediately floor the gas. The turn would suck you in then spit you out at the exit, preferrably at 190-200km/h

To be fair with you though, that 1:40.5 was a bit lucky because I was able to connect all those turns for a whole lap within 15 minutes. It's not unusual for me to spend over an hour in qualifying at that track because I usually get either first or second left hander wrong. Good luck and I hope this helps

Drive the hairpin in 3rd gear and the final turn in 4th, enter a bit slower and then hit the throttle very early

EDIT: T1 in 5, esses full throttle, next one 5/6, slow chicane 4, hairpin 3, next chicane 4 and final turn also 4. that got me a quite decent lap. Might shift into 3 in the chicane and the last sector for NA cars

Monsa with the Vulcan a couple of days ago, had 4 races all from pole. First one the auto start secuence selects 2nd gear, for the next 3 im stuck in 1st gear, got swamped by the time I'd covered 100 yards. checked the replays and I was the only one this happened to, another problem that needs looking into.

Like I said if someone wants to go as far as to unplug their internet every time they have a bad race then so be it. The people trying to play the game fairly shouldn't be penalized because of a few bad apples.

At my current rating it literally takes me 8-12 perfect races to gain 2000 DR depending on who I get matched up with. And that's if I don't run into wrecking balls along the way. I can't believe you or anyone else doesn't see a problem with 1 disconnect potentially wiping away multiple days worth of work (which is what it did to me).

Not trying to argue, just trying to show a different perspective.

Unintentional disconnects are basically built into the scoring system. I'm guessing everyone has been disconnected and lost points, so it's "fair" in that respect. Different than someone who is unable to progress due to an unusually large amount of disconnections, which is unfair but a technical issue. I understand higher rated drivers lose more points, but it's the same for everyone on that level.

Another thing to keep in mind is that (as far as I know) GT Sport doesn't publish the points for DR or SR. There is a little bar that shows progress, but no actual numbers. Thanks to some very intelligent people around here, we do know those numbers, but it's not an official ranking. The points underlying DR/SR are based off an algorithm that we don't know and has changed since release, so creating a ranking off of it would upset a lot of people every time the algorithm is adjusted since it's really for matching.

High level motorsports are about competing in a well defined championship, not about getting the most points from a hidden and changing algorithm. Real drivers have equipment failure as well, with real consequences due to no fault of their own. The FIA races do have published points and a champion, so that's a better gauge than the DR points. I know it's still the test seasons, but the real deal is coming up. I hope to see some GTPlanet regulars competing for the championship.

Yes, I usually pit mid race. In the race with the Genesis I pitted in Lap 4 to make an undercut which worked out pretty good as I was able to manage my tires for the last 6 laps of the race quite good

I struggled for race pace in the 458. Changed to the TT and was better. Had some crazy good races tonight.

My bib was 20, as I learned here, possibly meaning that I am predicted to be around 20th in the race. Finished 15th, with only 1 slight bump on a brake distance (but immediately backed off, waited the opponent to turn in and keep his/her position.) No warning, or any sign of penalty. On the race-end screen there were no red dot or anything, I even get the clean race bonus. My (SR) manner points remain 99, that's OK, but my driver points were 300 less than before. Why?
With #20, starting 18th and finishing 15th I expected to keep my points - if not collecting any more.

Bottom half almost always gets you -DR, with door 20 you could get an increase with 11th or 12th but again it would be a fairly minor one.

You were probably the highest B at the time of matchmaking and they need to fill the lobby. One place lower down you'd have been top of a group of B/S probably. Just the luck of the draw on the margins.

I was using the TT and pitting end of lap 5. I was lapping around low 1.41.xxx - 1.42.xxx

I was doing 1.42/1.43 but this Lambo just turned it on and I didn’t want to make a mistake as I could hear the tires slipping. I’m only a Low B DR and when there is pressure applied I fold like a deck of cards lol

I don't know if this will help, but I wasn't using 2nd gear at all. Don't be hamfisted with the throttle, and don't "over turn" your steering so you're using as little steering input as possible and your tyres should wear far better.

Sorry if you already know this. Just thought I'd chuck it out there

Was in 2nd on lap 5... spun all by myself (Duh!) and went back to 8th.
Finished 4th, kept Sr.99 and picked up~900Dr points... I'm now the best Dr.B I've ever been.
Yay... first race in over 2 weeks, was fun, felt good.

I've had great races all night there in the TT, apart from my last race of the night when I ran out of fuel on the last corner and dropped from 5th - 14th

Just had a race where I started 2nd behind Wardez! I managed to keep up okay and finished two and a half seconds back, with a healthy gap back to 3rd. Sure, I did use the counter-steer aid, but that's just because I was too lazy to pull out my wheel today.

I really enjoy the Alpine, and seem to do a bit better with it in a relative sense. I won the only race I had time for yesterday with it. And today's was one of those races that lifts my spirits and confidence in spite of the mixed results I might see throughout the week. I gotta say, racing online keeps me humble. So many fast drivers!

Ive recently made a secondary account (Canadian) so I make sure I never miss an FIA round (euro times are hard for me sometimes) and it’s been fun seeing just how quickly it’s possible to level up.

I’ve been racing for 8 hours with 27(ish) races over theee days and surprisingly I’ve managed to go from zero to DrA SrS in that short a time.

Racing in Americas is... different. I like it.

For a little bit of fun I downloaded a load of smurf decals along with a Union Jack flag for car liveries so all my smurfy cars on my smurfy account are, well, smurfy.

FIA Manufaturer Race yesterday at 21k DR. Lost 900 points but what a tiring race.

The game is hanging on Joining session, 5 minutes past, I guess the race has already started without me...

Brand's Hatch was pretty great today. Some early races I got matched with a lot of DR.B drivers that still occasionally bump and attempt a dive. One race 3 bumps from the same car until he spun himself out bumping into me again. Luckily when a DR.B hits you, you also don't get a penalty.
Most of the races were clean though, always a fun track with people over driving corners and spinning out. I managed to miss all the accidents in front of me for a change. One bad track re-entry had me swerve to less than an inch to losing grip myself. Ofcourse for not hitting him, the guy repays me next lap with a dive overtake in T2...

Kyoto was a mixed bag. First race was excellent, clean, fun, fast paced.

Second had a dirty driver causing trouble. First he dive bombs me on the U-Turn, 3 sec penalty. After the race he got plenty complaints from others and it turned out he was already on my psn block list where I put dirty drivers. I called him out, he started cursing.

Third race he starts behind. First I increase the gap yet the driver in front of me nearly loses it in the twisty bit, I avoid and take 4.2 sec shortcut penalty for just a tad too much grass. It would have been cheaper to hit him... Thanks to his unsteady behavior in the chicane as well the dirty driver catches up and instantly dive bombs me again in the U-Turn. I have the perfect opportunity to take him out in the last 2 corners yet figure, not worth it and take the pit end of lap 1 to reset my race, already have 7.2 sec penalty, which is 8.2 when I get out of the pit lol. So I start my race lap 2 in last. Make it to 15th with another pit stop. The dirty driver was taunting me after the race since he finished 13th lol. He got called out again. I reported him both races, the penalty system doesn't work in the C race, too many SR points to commit murder with.

Fourth race, the best race. Awesome battle with the car in front of me, close tight racing. We both pit in lap 5, get back out right behind each other again. Finally he makes a slight mistake and I get alongside on the inside on the way to the chicane. He slots in behind me and now the roles are reversed. I mange to hold on for the rest of the race, we take a few corners side by side, it stays clean and I manage to get a slighly better exit each time. Great race. The rest of the room was perfect as well, full blue scores at the end, a rarity. Fast room with 5 S, 1 B, rest A.

And well, the race just now is still joining session... Time to restart the game I guess.

I ran 4 races at Brands, where I don’t usually do well.

All lobbies from S/S - B/S. It was on my original account at B/S. Finished 4th, 9th, 2nd, and managed a 14 th in the last one because I choked and missed brake points all race long.

I couldn’t believe it but not a single penalty in all 4 races. Ended the session A/S.

You can see from the graph below how much I lost due to disconnection.
Some can say it’s ok and that I can recover back to where I was...
it is totally possible but only if the connection doesn’t keep crashing and at the level I’m playing I lose more Dr than I gain.
Even if I win a race against one or two better players maximum I’m gaining is 500Dr points, usually is an average of 250 points per race that’s 4 or 5 GOOD races out of one disconnection.
I had more than 10 races disconnected, I lost a lot, from 55K to 43K, im trying to get it back but the game is not letting me and it’s really not my internet the issue.

Until maybe 10 days ago I had something like 4 or 5 races disconnected, nothing too much but suddenly I’ve been having too many... average of half/half... made me actually quit daily races the last two days.
You can see from the graph below how much I lost due to disconnection.
Some can say it’s ok and that I can recover back to where I was...
it is totally possible but only if the connection doesn’t keep crashing and at the level I’m playing I lose more Dr than I gain.
Even if I win a race against one or two better players maximum I’m gaining is 500Dr points, usually is an average of 250 points per race that’s 4 or 5 GOOD races out of one disconnection.

I did a ton of races today. It took me 8 consecutive wins to regain the lost DR from the 1 disconnect. Just insane. I pity anyone that has to deal with this issue on a regular basis.

Kyoto race C is loads of fun, very fast and flowing track.

I was driving the Caymen, pitted on lap 4 as well in each race, sometimes it put me up a position or two that way.

That definitely falls into the technical issue category. I hope the upcoming maintenance fixes that problem.

Yes, it sucks that you lost a bunch of points. No argument there. There's a very small percentage of drivers who can get 8 consecutive wins and you were able to regain those points. I don't think anyone doubts your skills just because your DR went down a couple thousand points.

That's why I mentioned perspective. Correct me if I'm wrong, but being able to compete with the best drivers is the important part. Winning races and a championship series is the ultimate goal. Having an extremely high DR number, that's meant for matching and isn't officially recognized, shouldn't be such a big concern.
