Had a chance to jump on Race C today (managed a couple of 20 minute qualy sessions) so had a go in the Audi. Slow motion oversteer bloody everywhere in the race - not in qualy - and ended up quitting (I did feel ashamed!) after a gentle pirouette around T1 that I've never managed before pissed me off a touch too much! (braked well in time, hadn't even reached the inside kerb, around she went anyway!). Flat out and pit stop though seems a viable strategy, only lost around 10-11s during the pit stop.

Will focus on the Merc I think when I get chance for a good session, my optimal in that (1:30.7) is only slightly behind my optimal in the Audi (1:30.6) but the car is just so much more stable. Suppose I could try the Audi on -5 BB but I don't like going to extremes!!

So sneaked a couple in in the Merc. First race, started 2nd and if it hadn't taken me until L3 to take the lead (plus a 1s penalty for going off track out of the Senna S) I reckon I'd have made the one stop work, as it was I finished 2nd, 1.6s behind the leader, catching him at roughly 1.5s a lap.

Second race, different kettle of fish altogether. Higher rated lobby, started 9th and nobody was going anywhere quickly so thought I'd try and fuel save and get to the end. Punted off on L2. Changed tac after going to the back and decided to go flat out and pit for an early stop. It ends up being a bit of a mess, think I finished 15th in the end, but thought I'd share this penalty for ignoring the track limits

Not quite sure where else I could have gone, could've ignored the car I guess!

I think the one stopper can work if you can get to the front early and stretch your legs (or if you're brilliant at overtaking!). If you're in the midfield anywhere, a no stopper seems best

Also, if anyone wants to add me from my PSN there, feel free "Theslowcaptain"

So I took the mighty mighty TT back to Suzuka and got an 11.7xx which is better than the last time we were here. So I'm happy with that. Opt is an 11.099 but once I got below 12 I moved to back to Brazil.

Took @Mistah_MCA 's advice here and tried the AMG. I like it. Down to a 32.8xx. Again my opt is around half a sec quicker but once below 33 I decided enough was enough.

Next time on we'll take those times to the grid and see how far we get!

Two races, two wins at Interlagos today! :D One was around midday on the meme account, a last to first challenge in a lobby consisting of DR/D and DR/C drivers. Then I did the 00:30 race on my main account and won lights-to-flag by 3.5s. I got fastest lap stolen by about .05 by a one-stopper, which ticked me off because it was going to be my 50th to complete the achievement :grumpy:

Edit: The start in the second race looked like this:

I watched @Mistah_MCA's track guide this morning for Suzuka. Helped me get comfortable enough to race. So thanks for that.

QT 2:11.344. DR B and above grid. Started 12. Finished 10. Mostly clean. +45 DR. One bogus orange warning. Went better than I expected but was lucky not to be hit off 2-3 times by different drivers. Twice saw it coming in the rear view and avoided being taken out.

To be clear. Some drivers are intentionally trying to take out others knowing the penalty will still put them out front at the finish. It's been going on for months. I've uploaded video of it, others have, etc... Sure enough today, last lap at Casio Triangle, car tries to take out two cars..... ended up missing because I think both cars took measures to avoid but without expecting it, it was a move to bounce both cars out of the way through the chicane and squeezing through.

I had a go around Tokyo tonight with the 86, took a few minutes to get a feel for it but it’s actually a fun combo. Got it down to a 32.7 with an Optimal of 32.4, I couldn’t put the lap together though. Maybe tomorrow. :)

Most excellent lap @Mistah_MCA

Me to myself: Do not say that the BRZ is better

It's a nice combo, to be honest. I had some good fun while I was trying to set a time. I'm just scared doing a race in it, so I'll hang out at Suzuka.

Took the C7 Gr.3 with the KFC / Taco Bell livery out for a drive at Interlagos tonight, got the ultimate compliment from a V12 Vantage driver post-race: "Ur beast last cnr" which I assume was a reference to how he was stuck behind me for six laps after our pit stops because I put 2-3 tenths of a second on him at the exit of Juncao every lap and so he couldn't ever pass me on the straight despite having the slipstream everywhere.

I'm really liking the WRX for race c. Finally got around to my first race of the week tonight (Monday & Tuesday were strictly qualifying). My qualy time is 131.8 and try as I might I don't think I can't beat NevilleNobody's time. Started 3rd, got a bunch of penaltys for cutting corners (whoops) pushed someone off the track (eh), pitted after lap 5 (at least a lap too early trying to undercut) and finished 7th with the fastest lap (whoopydoo).

My impression after one race c match: I think my SR is going to die.

Ahh the elusive no-qualy win! This was in an SR-A lobby and pace wasn’t really an issue, but navigating through this chaos and picking the right times to battle can be a challenge. Makes for a fun video too :)

I was wondering where you had gone after we were running in Race B . Glad to see you were able to shake off the cob webs :dopey:. That race was my best of the night up to that point. I think I finished 7th or so. After you went to Race C, I had a few more goes at Race B, my highest finish was 8th, 7th, 6th, and 4th.

All while accomplishing this:

Figured I'd git out while the gittin' was gud!

Wow! Nice lap! My stable time is now only 1.34 ... and I know don't know how keep it in 1.33 without risk... BB -2?

I used BB -1 to get a similar time to Pigems' time. Just stable enough, but you can still get the car to rotate nicely when you want it to.

No more dailies for me this week, I've bitten the bullet and changed throttle brake on the DS4 from right stick to R2/L2. Going to have to do a lot of offline laps to retrain the muscle memory, but it's looking like I'll get a one to two second drop in lap times once I master it.
It also looks like I'll be a lot easier on tires with this setup, it's much easier to control slide. I'll probably also be able to progress from TCS2 down to TCS1 or even zero.

I've been winning all my Race B's with the 458. Really enjoying this car and finally got my first win/pole/fastest lap/clean race all in one!

Moving on to Race C and thought I'd use the 458 GT3 version.
Is it me or is it a totally different beast? I find it has a habit of the rear sliding out when lifting the throttle and turning in - especially at turn 9 (Pinheirinho). Does anyone else have this issue with this car? I've tried all the brake balance settings to no avail.

Then I'll jump in the 911 and do a lap time 3 seconds faster than I can do in the Ferrari....
:(

I think it's "just" the difference between the two classes. The GR.4 cars are easy to drive ("low" horsepower) and not so tail happy. The GR.3 cars much more stronger, revs up differently and like to slide... a little bit if you try to drive them like the GR.4 cars. imho :) .
In GR.3 maybe the 911 suits your style better :) .

Aaaand I'm back at it trying to get the memory and practice in to stay on MT instead of Auto. Just adds a different dimension to learning the tracks all over again as I have to rediscover braking points and proper gears for cornering as the AT is almost always wrong. Didn't take too much. Had a go at a couple of Race Cs in the "Emily" RCF. Found I could do the no stopper quite easily in that, second race I was nursing it heavily and finished it with 0.9 laps of fuel left. Found I've got sooo much better control with the manual, but have to be gradual on the throttle and it saves my tires. Got BB 2 on to help preserve the fronts. Not setting the place on fire but the second race was holding 11 out of 12 laps mid 1:35. Enough to take advantage of people suffering penalties or frying the tires. Not really moving up greatly in the lobbies and at my speed seemed to be an even match between stoppers and no-stoppers.

First race was hell with an S/S, 2 A+/S and mostly A/S in the lobby. I'm a low B/S and there were three of us there, plus a poor bastard at D/S. Thought he was there as a recent reset, buuuuut he spun out about 5 times in the race and kept trying to send it in the oddest places before quitting. Methinks the matchmaking system screwed him something evil.

Also think some people need to chill when stopping. I'm going to give you a spot to pass if you're on your out lap or catching me that fast, just let me get a good spot, easy on the dive-bombing as I'm trying to take care of my tires and am not just going to park it for you.
Oh well, still having fun.

Welcome to my world . It seems that quite often Race C has a low turn out for DR/D, or anything fast, like GR1/Redbulls/F1s. N24/Nord also seems to keep my peers at bay.

decided to jump on and just see what's goin on in the Daily A. It's a really fun time but probably a bad idea if you care about DR and SR.

Hello!

I've been avoiding Race A. It's great combo for time trials, but I'm not a fan of putting a bunch of people in a claustrophobic setting haha.

I've been hanging out at Suzuka. I've been getting some really good races lately, and am grinding out them DR bucks!

Race B. Twice in the same race I got punted off track by a car that had spun on it's own and was returning to the track in an unsafe manner. 1st time, they take me out and put me into the wall, and I lose about 5 place AND get a 1 second penalty.

Second time two cars in front door-to-door around spoon, they take each other out, I calmly drive through the mayhem, and then BANG, the one on the inside hits my rear quarter whilst rejoining. I drop to last AND get a 6 second penalty. I watched the replay, and all the guy had to do was ease off the throttle and he could have rejoined cleanly, and he would have hardly lost any ground at all.

So annoying. Can the penalty system not tell if a car has spun off already?

Same race, and to add insult to injury I get smashed off the road from behind at the last chicane on the last lap by someone trying to overcome a 2 second gap in one corner,

I have since worked on my qualy time and reduced it from a mid 2.11 to a low 2.10. Now I am qualifying top 4 instead of last 4, and it is so much easier to have a clean race. Optimum is a mid 2.09, but it is so difficult to string together the perfect lap around Suzuka, as almost every corner is a real challenge.

Downshift the 458 gr3 as late as possible. Downshifting too early makes the rear step out.
Make the last downshift as late as possible, preferably just before turn in so you get the rotation. It also has very strong brakes so you can brake a little bit later, so hold the brake as long as possible, release it not to sudden and turn in
