Well ***, with my new time the game is putting me in P7 at the start. So much more pressure lol, and the GT-Rs ahead are impossible to catch up to. Did 3 races this morning, lost 2 positions in the first one, 1 in the second and kept the same place in the last one.

My DR went way up somehow after this. I can't explain it. I thought it took only how many positions you gained during races as reference.

Basically you are finishing around mid field. On a grid of your peers, you'd be gaining a few points for the last 2 races and loosing a few points for the first race. If you are making significant gains the chances are that you as a DR/D are being matched against higher DRs because there isn't enough at your DR/SR entering at the times you were racing. On a full grid of 16, when I've been matched up against a whole bunch of DR/Bs and finished P10, I've still picked up a few points. On a grid of all DR/Ds with the same finishing position I loose more points. :)

I wish you were in my races.

Two things:

As someone who's driven the Nissan exclusively in Manufacturer Series races since August 2018, I have absolutely no qualms with using it in a situation where it's good.

On the discussion about getting good lap times with a DS4, I think St. Croix is one of the more suitable tracks for it. Nearly all of the corners are high speed/full lock, so the lack of steering precision isn't as much of a factor as it is for the Nissan. Quite how a 2:06.7 is possible I've no idea, mind you.

Gone back to +5 BB on the Toyota TS050, it's quicker as long as you don't spin around. ;)

Q time down to 1:23.410 but lost at least a tenth in the last corner.

Also just did a 1:24.2 race lap and had decent pace the entire last half of the race.

Shame I nearly caused a crash or two in the first half of the race, not use to people actually trying to race with the 919 and so I nearly gave one a right good spank up the arse as a result but I did the right thing and turned away from the corner, only problem was I then had to grass ride back on because otherwise I'd have been reset to track, so I hope that didn't impact anyone too much.

In the end because the Porsche is no good to race, I caught all the cars that went past back up again and ended up 2nd regardless and I was never going to have a chance at 1st anyway. Better than my first race, was again going to finish a distant 2nd but the game disconnected me on lap 8.

:gtplanet::cheers:

I just went in to a Race C lobby cold and ended up top split with a lot of high DR drivers (SR S). It was the dirtiest race I've had this week with a couple of proper punters. Took me a few laps to get by bearings by which point I'd lost a chunk of time and the pre-stop phase was messy. Gained 7 positions and a couple of hundred points of DR. I probably had the ability to get further forward but the pace at the front was beyond what I've done in the qually and the punting at the back killed it. Then I forgot to save the replay. I like watching the top guys battle - you can learn a lot.

Try racing it! Great for quali (and sounds great) but if anything happens on the track during a race that causes you to deviate from the optimum you'll find yourself racing on St Croix B Reverse Layout. Take the left after the bridge and a car stalls in front of you and see what happens when you ease off and swerve to avoid it.

Had a race with the Ferrari in race B and it surprised me, definitely faster through the bends and has good acceleration on it. It's also far more stable and drivable than it used to be.

The learning continues lol

It's amazing to me just how different of an approach you seem to need to take in the race cars compared to street cars. I have always been a street car (and mostly older ones at that) driver in all the gran turismo games, so i know how to push a street car to it's limits fairly well. The race cars i just haven't been able to figuer out yet, mostly cuse i don't drive them much of course. Maybe it's all in my head, but i feel like my times say it all, i am not anywhere near as fast with my qt's in any of the race classes as in the street car events.

Anyway... joy and frustration all at the same time here

Sigh.... almost a full second slower than my optimal. Very frustrating that i can't put it all together...

Have a nice friday my friends... :gtpflag::cheers:

Yes I've had the same, both when racing from the back on my main account and when I end up starting around 5th or so. Sometimes there are just too many dirty drivers and then they end up setting off other people who'd normally be clean enough and you also end up with fast cars out of position, as they have been unfairly turfed off and then it's all kinds of chaos for the rest of the race and you learn nothing.

Think I'm done for today*. Did drop my Race C qualy down to a 23.5, then immediately bottled what would have been a very good podium in a race. Started 4th and drove faultlessly for 9 laps, on my own in 3rd only a few seconds behind the guys 3rd and 5th on EMEA leaderboard. Then managed to get myself a pen on L9 for cutting - dropping me to 4th - and spun on L10 when I was lining up an overtake for 3rd. Still got 300 ish DR for coming home 7th but the 3rd place ahead of a couple of S and a couple of A+ drivers would have really given me a boost in a week I've lost DR practically every race

But extra note to self. After driving GR1 around Fuji and then having a go in the Super Formula around Suzuka... don't expect much when you jump in a GTR to qualify at St Croix! It was like steering a sizeable house and took me five attempts to complete a lap!!

*Bound to jump on again at some point when they've all gone to bed!

Still 2 seconds quicker than me...

Haven't made it to the track today. I'm working on a new paint job for the Livery Editor Competition https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...or-competition-40-fantasy-brands-open.390081/

It's a nice diversion, when you want a break from racing, or just like doing some electronic art. @Mistah_MCA

It will be my first entry. Anyone else wanna try it?
October 16th is the cutoff for entries.

I was gonna do a “here’s one I made earlier” trick and stick one up that I did ages ago. Then I saw the quality of the other entries and figured it was enough to get beaten on the track by everyone here without opening myself up for a beating in livery competitions too.

Are we about to start that debate again?
I'll probably throw my hat in the ring.

Well, I knew I would be in for a challenge if I raced at prime time with this Q time (now bumped down to P6 in EMEA by a single millisecond just to spite me  ), and I wasn't wrong! I scored one of my best wins yet.

The lobby was very strong even after 7 people DC'd (including the polesitter who currently holds the WR). That left me on pole, with a Russian, who's P10 on the leaderboard, starting 2nd, in front of another Russian and a Ukrainian. I didn't expect to be able to pull away, and my expectations were met; it was only the dirty air that helped me pull a bit of a gap, 1.7s by lap 6. At that point I was certain he wanted to undercut me, so he could jump me and gain track position. So I did the exact thing he wanted to do and pitted on lap 6 as well  Sure enough he (and the other Russian) joined me in the pitlane, and entered the pits aggressively which gained him half a second. The Ukrainian in P4 overtook all of us and I came out about 1.5s behind him in second place, which meant I was going to eat his dirty air for a lap :indiff: When he pitted at the halfway point, the delta to the Russian was only 9 tenths, which meant I was back to square one. I started putting in some great laps, notably getting a 24.5 on 4 lap old tires, to slowly pull out of slipstream range. He was still there though, the gap stabilized around 1.6-1.8s. On the penultimate lap, I made a mistake in the last sector which would've gotten him a tow again, but when I looked back I saw he had a 0.5s penalty. That gave me crucial breathing room to drive a bit more carefully on the last lap, and bring home the W by 1.5s  The FL was stolen by a Brit with a 24.100.

Even with a 13 person lobby I got a decent haul of DR because my opponent had upwards of 73k... Now up to a new peak of 63830! :D

Mine look the same. That GTR is too fast, there's a lot of racers trying to pass who don't have any idea how to. I'm down to a DR B now from being rammed off the road and shoved into other cars. Some were my fault, of course, but I haven't hit B in a looooong time.

My best Q time is in the Ferrari. Love the turn in. Love the sound. In race however you summed it up for me. You need to adjust from your perfect line for any reason and the tail can go (on me anyway). Pity!

I know some folks avoid the META for their own deep philosophical reasons, and they’ll say they hate the GT-R this week because everyone is in it but next week when it’s actually poop again they’ll sing it’s praises, but so far it is the only car I can hot lap AND race in with any consistent success.
Yeah, I'm going to have to switch as well. Agreed about the Ferrari- I'm sure it's a blast. I just don't have the time to learn it right now.

I'm back on C practice now, struggling to see where to find time. You know sometimes you'll do laps and try different things and you'll suddenly find a line or something that gives you a chunk of time? I'm not seeing that. Low 23s seems far off.

Sorry, I’m new to GTS and haven’t raced online yet...

Do we know which car will be used for next week’s Race A, or do we have to wait until the week starts?

It just says “Gr.4 Specially Provided Car”

Welcome to the party! It’s part of the fun guessing. Based on the track, class of car, last cars to be added and usual Polophony choices the members here will all act like super sleuths for the weekend...and still get it wrong.:gtpflag:

Haha. Nice. And thanks for the welcome guys!

I’m not 100% sure I’m ready to play online yet, but am a bit more confident in GR.4’s than I am in 3’s, even though I have more fun in the latter.

If I have the car, I’ll probably give it a try, or maybe wait for a Gr.3 race the following week.

Edit: and I realize they provide the car, but I’d like to run it in arcade mode a bunch to get comfortable first.
