Sidenote...anyone else enter the pits and the screen just shows your pit crew for like 10 seconds before your car shows up? It's not helping my awful lap times.
The worst thing is watching your position tank during a stop - i pitted from 4th, went down to 10th during, but back up to 5th by the time i got to the pit exit! And it's not even like there was a big group behind me when i rejoined?

Race C, P8 > P7, blue S, +400 DR, one stop fuel & tyres in a Jag. Don't care about the positions, this track is FUN :D

Edit: and red dot for me, track limits at Eau Rouge / Raidillon. Got impatient :dunce: :guilty: . And an oragne SR, missed a gear on the apex of T1 and got nudged by the poor sod behind me.

You don’t really need to change the tyres.. just add some fuel and go! :)

Race C is worth 11 SR points this week (above 50 SR) which is very low for a daily C. Spa only has 3 sectors times 8 laps is 24 total or 0.46 SR per sector, which is pretty normal. Long track with long sectors. That means 3 SR Downs can already net you a neutral rating while 4 will be a red rating. One time penalty can be survived without any further SR Downs.

I'll be lifting at Eau Rouge. I can nail it once or twice during a race but overall it's faster to use a bit of a safety margin just like the bus stop at DT: Seaside. Missing it is not as disastrous as the bus stop but that 0.5 sec penalty hurts enough while already losing time from wobbling over the kerbs. I do think people should get a penalty for going far wide in the middle part and at the end. It's not faster but still bloody annoying to look out for cars shooting back onto the track from the far right. These very soft track limit penalties do not encourage staying on the track.

So i meant to go to spa...but i made Danny Rics USGP Longhorns bucket instead. 160 Layers. Jesus.

I only got 9 SR points for a clean Race C.

I tried some laps at spa. I have no idea how any of you can drive the R8. I simply can not. Switched to the stang and got a 2.21.9xx I am not a big fan of the track and might try again later this week but i doubt it. Race A is a decent time trial but i wont be racing in that snooze fest either. Got my time down to a 41.0xx no rest till a sub 41 is achieved, i know i can do it, best opt so far is 40.6xx

Meanwhile Race A is lax for SR. I missed the window for Race C so did A. I was pushed into the wall, he finishes with a 3 sec penalty and blue SR... Kind of surprising given Race As are usually tight for SR.

I know nobody cares for this depressing car ;) but figured it was worth mentioning.

If you get hit and the other car gets SR Down instead of a penalty, you still lose 1 SR but keep the clean race bonus. Clean race bonus depends on getting all the SR up arrows for all sectors (doesn't show for the finish one but still counts)

Contact free (or get bumped off with the other car receiving a penalty) collect all SR ups, should be 11 points.

I forgot to mention how much I love that the GTR isn't the quickest car around SPA. Bonus points that the R8 is the quickest quali car. I know those aren't popular opinions, but I think I like Spa just a little bit more

Canada doesn't have any holidays until Christmas, so I booked myself a 4 day weekend coming up. Will be putting in a lot of laps, need to get my swag back in this game.

I did a Spa race with my second account. I hadn't set a qualifying lap and only had the chance to get 1 lap in so it wasn't quick, starting 19th. In 20th was Igor Fraga on his EMEA account doing a no qualy run. He got past me before the start line and finished 5th. He was using the 4C

Went from B to A and I am not that happy. Seems like quality of racing took a hit. Please PD , let me go back to B

The GR4 race is a real struggle in the Citroën. I only gain places due to errors of others and some wipe-out actions by other enthusiasts. I simply get overtaken on all the straights...and....there are a few of them :banghead: I promised myself to stick to the frenchie. Will see if I can get her to the podium at least once. Haven't got high hopes

Who else ran out of fuel their first time at Spa because they couldn't find out road?

Ya, it is VERY poorly marked. Even if it is authentic, I don't think anyone would be upset by the addition of a "PIT" sign.

SO, I am going go out on a limb and say no stop with the Citroen is a good strategy. I have seen this used to good effect so I decided to do some test laps. Since it is BoP's down to 87% power, I can do the same lap times if I wind it up all the way or if I short shift to conserve.

I am about to give this a try. Whatever the result, I am pretty sure this will bring relative success.

(this is what I do while I am waiting for clients to confirm appointments :P)

It's hard getting a clean race bonus at race C from the back. So many people are struggling with the track, avoid the one in front braking too early, get hit by the one behind braking too late. Plus one stop vs no stop is always trouble due to the speed difference. I don't even try for position anymore, get even a tip of a nose next to me on the way to eau rouge, just brake, it never ends well. Car moving into dive bomb position for the chicane, just go ahead, rules of racing do not apply to gts. 5th attempt with the WRX coming up.

Yesterday I saw that a lot of people struggle when they get draft. They stick to their line and braking points no matter what, so when they get draft in the Kemmel straight or before the last chicane, they brake in the same point they usually do and just crash on everyone.

I agree, I've seen it used several times and in practice I can extract a 2:19 from it. The unknown is how the tyre degradation changes the handling. The Huracan was an absolute nightmare on worn rubber.

Seeing people running 19 mins race time using the R8 and just going flat out, with a stop of around 15 seconds. Watching people running sub 18:50s on no-stop is blowing my mind.

I don't think a one stop works from the back of the grid, there's just no way of cleaning using that extra pace in the opening four laps.

From the back of the grid I'm 15 seconds behind the leader when I cross the line so my best total race time is somewhere around a net 19:10. This leaves me 2.5 seconds a lap off the pace, still. Ouch.

Wow I never felt so slow on a TT event!! not even near the top 200 yet at SPA and probably only got another 1 sec or so left? Those 2'15's are incredible times  Here's my best lap so far in the R8 but gonna try the Maclaren F1 tonight and see how it handles there 👍

It's Great to see this wicked track return

I thought she was too thirsty. Will give it a shot as well since I really like that car. RCZ must take a little pause...engine has suffered today

I would think 2'15s are all cheat laps

They have be. Most of the track is flat out so I don't know where 15's are coming from other than cheating.

I snagged a win with the Citroen, but I had some favorable matchmaking. I can't say that it was any faster than running the RCZ with both getting fuel saving laps in the high 2:21's to low 2:22's

I still can't say one strategy works over the other. Going all out or stopping once have both resulted in similar overall race times for me.

Catastrophic hère. Started 9 , finished 13. Fuellevel had to run between 4-6 with a lot of switching. Going flatout and doing 1 short stop works best for me in this car.

Guys overtook me everywhere, cought up on their pitstop, to be doubled on the long straight

What's best at Spa flat out stopping vs fuel saving?
On 911 RSR i tried fuel 3 but had people cruising past and getting tangled up, so now am flat out until end of lap 6 and splash and dash (no tyres) for last 2 laps
Try short-shifting instead of changing the fuel mixture. It requires more attention, but you don't lose nearly as much top speed, which the 911 don't have much to begin with. I've been driving the 911 and shifting at just under 50% for pretty much the whole race. My last race I started 14th and finished 6th.

So the Spa is here, had to try. Never was big fan on Spa, but I think its ok. Hate the last chicane thou
Here's my qualy lap. brake too late to final chicane... (no cutting) opt was close to 2:19 flat, so litle more practice and 2:18.x times could be possible
2:19.503 BB-2

I do feel that the RH tyres have better grip now, maybe the track have just better surface

Thanks for that info 👍 I have now seen some of the top 10 laps and see how the laps are so fast 👎:irked:

Anyway I tried some laps in the GT40 and wow this thing is excellent around here! within 10 laps I beat my R8 time and it seems like there's a lot more up for grabs.. the rigidity of the GT40 is perfect for the tighter turns around this track, here's my best so far if you haven't tried this car here yet? then go get some laps in.. It's a blast! 👍
