I was excited for today's Manufacturer Race. My car of choice was the Nissan GT-R, and it is a missile in the straights. I practiced a lot for the race, and I was excited to participate in it. Sadly, I only had the time to enter the second timeslot.

I go on the GTSport website and check the entry time for the second Manufacturer slot. "19:00," says the website. Cool, I can go to the gym and come back home right before it starts.

I come back home and turn on the PS4. I enter the Manufacturer screen... I realize that the second slot started at 18:00. I completely forgot about the time change, which pushed the race entry times back one hour. I cannot enter the third time slot due to a commitment, which means I can't do this race.

At the top of my lungs, I scream: "I blame @sturk0167 for the time change!!!"

The end.

Just fired the game and.....Well not too shabby for my 1st time out on the track this week :dopey:.

I looked at the times set in my friends list, and thought, "I'll be happy to just get close to 2:00.xx" :scared:

No way did I see a sub 2:ex. Pretty happy with that, although I probably won't race this week. Not my favorite combos.

I kind of sucks that the Q session friend times list only shows friends in same region :(

I also think that. If I'm bored of hot lapping the dailies, I'll go back to the circuit experience and improve a time. Only problem with making comparisons here is that most will only put down a lap good enough to gold it and then move on.

Looks very similar to my lap (not)!

Best I could manage was a 1.44, so I decided to start from the back without qualifying tonight, so as not to get in anyone's way! Worked out OK though, as I had 9th, 8th and then 7th place finishes.

I saw you in one of the races, think you took a trip into the wall on the start/finish straight at one point? Couldn't tell whether you were helped, or managed it on your own.

yes mate... that was the 3rd time in that race i got binned off i think. I got mangled up with an un-ghosting car on that last right hander, slowed down as i anticipated him reappearing and then he kicked his back end out and punted me into the pit wall. We love a good pit wall ramming don't we?

Had a couple of runs at race C again. Decent enough, had a good first race, couple of small battles, nicely clean everytime I was involved in one but did see some punting, managed to move up and get CRB.

Second race, not as good. At the back with a wild card behind me. He took a clean pass at turn 1 so all sweet to go, and then the fast people who wrecked or get punted start to push back through. One guy couldn't catch me to pass, but tries plenty of late braking at the hairpins to tap me wide. After the first one I was ready, but from 0.6 constantly?

Then my brain kicked in and I decided for the undercut. Awesome idea. But my dumb 🤬 pulled in at end of lap 4 :dunce:. Didn't notice till after lap 7 when I had been pushing harder than I should. Time for a few laps of ice skating and cursing myself. The nemesis who rattled me first half did have to get by me again, and made sure he actually punted me solid this time. Oh joy. I do get satisfaction that he quit as he crossed the line or got disconnected so finished last. Also managed to better my QT from last time so at least I show some sort of improvement. It all works out I guess. Enjoyed the good battles.

This is from last night, shows the power of the undercut nicely. If the leader was somebody else I might've committed to the move fully but it's not worth the risk against friends.

The 7 lap stint is no problem on the mediums, you can go as slow as you want everywhere as long as you get a good exit from the last corner, with the dirty air you're not going to be passed.

Great job. I saw you did the undercut on Zocker's stream yesterday. He was commenting during the race... 'wait, where did this guy come from... what's his strategy... when is he going to pit" as he didn't see you pit in on lap 5 :lol:

Jumped on for a couple of races at Autopolis, not had a great deal of time this week. First race, total surprise and had a clean sweep win, pole, FL, CRB. Second race was more what I expected. Started 3rd - pinball machine. 2nd made a mistake T1, I tried to take advantage only to get pushed out of it then got bumped everywhere by everyone for half a lap and I'm the only one who ends the race with negative SR. Tyres were almost gone on L5 (probably due to excessive instances of sudden sideways movement) so decided to pit for hards and they worked ok, especially compared to the guy who started 2nd and pitted for mediums on the same lap. I got held up in the final corner of L6 to give him a run down S/F but after he passed and began to pull away, the advantage started to shrink, then swing in my favour and the last two laps his tyres were a mess, mine were still solid so we closed in and waved at him as he's in the gravel towards the end of the final lap. Finished 6th

Lots of GTRs in the races, presume it's the better race car?

Just had a race at Maggiore where a spanish driver made An error at the rollercoaster curve. I gave him room so he could recover correctly. Hè is behind and tries to overtake. I make my Viper is wide as I can and catch him up in the corners before accelerating out of them. Final to last corner resulting in a massive punt from the guy. In the chat I get that I am a bad and dirty driver.

Would any of you guys give the Viper a try at Maggiore and tell me what you think about it?

I am getting mixed results. First lap I find tricky because of the heavy front and understeer. Then it goes pretty well but I haven't found a sweetspot with the gearing through the corners.

Would love to hear some impressions on the car.

Some Race As on second account today.
Plan is to do a few races in improve race craft and not worry about DR and SR.

Qually 2:01.099

Race 1
Started 2nd. Pole was an A/S with 2:00.253.
I took the lead at the start. Stayed on the inside to make everyone go around me. Someone didn’t! Punted into a spin at turn 1. Now last!
No penalties for anyone!
Ended up 8th and 17 seconds down.
Blue SR.

Race 2
Started 2nd. Same A/S driver on pole. Mixed of A/S to D/S.
Kept 2nd after 1st corner. Much cleaner this time. Ended up 5th.
Some close racing, with some bumping. With the track so wide people are inclined to use you to help them make the corner with a lunge with the knowledge that you’re unlikely to go off the track to give them a penalty.
I cut the corner of the quick left on the last lap and lost two places with the penalty.
Red SR for me.

Race 3
Started 3rd. A/S and S/S in front of me.
Much cleaner this race. Ended up 4th. Less than 3 seconds off the lead.
Blue SR.

Race 4
Started on pole! B/S and D/S drivers only.
Second slip streamed past me on lap 2. Was clean. I couldn’t quite get the run at him into the quick left.
Close racing up front. Last lap touching. I tried to get through on the inside, we touched. He went off track. I got a penalty.
When I compare what happened here to what happened in my first race when I was punted to last, the penalty system does frustrate me.
Finished 2nd.
Red SR.

Race 5
Started 2nd. Another B/S and D/S grid.
Down to 5th on lap 1. 3rd and 4th took each other out at turn 1 on lap 3. 1st lost it by himself coming into the twisty bit later on lap 3. I got through. Ended up winning by about 5 seconds.
Red SR.

SR must be tricky to gain here.

Race 6
On pole. A/S to D/S on the grid.
Some close racing. Cleaner. Finished 0.216 behind 1st.
Another red SR!

In 6 races I’ve gained 1400 DR and lost 6 SR.

For turn 1, my experience over the last few days is that when you get a hard punt in the backside which sends you straight on and directly off the track, there is no penalty. However, if you go off the track on the T1 exit coming into the short straight (even if minimal side by side contact) then the other driver will get penalised. Stupid because it's so inconsistent.

A guy last night was very annoyed with me as he thought I'd gone off track deliberately there to give him a pen. We'd had a little doorhandle contact in T1 as he made a fairly spirited lunge for the inside, but I wouldn't class it as dirty. It put me about an inch wide on exit and he picked up 3 seconds. Wasn't happy. Not really my fault but I apologised afterwards as from his perspective it probably looked like intentional gaming of the penalty system.

I still believe though that this is a great track when you find a group who can race clean.

Not much racing for me this week, we've had race A a hundred times (might still have a go anyway) and I'm not much good at Gr2 or Autopolis, so went for a B. Not a fan of the track this way around, pretty much every corner works better the other way around. Put in a pretty bad quali lap, and lined up 14th. Coming out of the last corner before starting, the Renault in front got very sideways, and I got past him on the way to T1, where he unceremoniously punted me off and into last, without him picking up a penalty. Made my way up to 10th, with one nice overtake on a WRX, but otherwise just by keeping it on the black stuff when others didn't, bit of a lonely race really, spent most of it without another car within 2s in front of behind.

CRB, DR down a couple of hundred, bring on next week's races!!

Agree. Understeer is an issue in the high speed corners and changes of direction. Sadly, half the lap is made up that way. I'm sure you can adapt your style to mitigate it but the MR cars are always going to have the upper hand.

I don't normally use the Viper so went into this completely cold. I could probably get a low 1:58 out of it with some practice.

Thank you sir. Did a 58.6xx with it but I am losing out during the race. Gains are made by errors of others. Like the car though.

Understeer is an issue but can somehow adapt a bit..

Aaaaaaand one and two and turn and two and one and two and turn and two.. come on people, shred those tyres......Ok so yeh. I went in this time with mediums instead of hards, with the newer Lexus. So much nicer to drive than the Epsom NSX. I managed to beat my NSX time by nearly 5s. Just to see how things went, I pitted and took on hards during the qualy session and I was only a hair slower.. still much more in control than with the NSX. As I suspected, there were more DR/Ds this time, with a mix of DR/B and C thrown in. I started P9/16.

The race started and things did not go well. One of the DR/Bs behind me was being aggressive, nearly pushed me off at T1, then did hit another car at T2, which hit me, then another car hit me off the track and I ended up with an orange DR *and* a 3s penalty . I rejoined the race P14 and not terribly happy. I fell even further back because of the penalty, but started to claw my way back. For some reason I was still using taller gears on the corners, and the occasional short shift... which is kinda stupid, I had 3/4 of a tank at lap 6 .

I pitted lap 6. The tyres seemed ok so I knew I could get 6 laps out of Mediums. On with new boots and I was off again. I slowly managed to claw back some places. Last couple of laps I could see the time between me and the guy behind shrinking. At one stage he showed on my radar, then he slipped back to 1s behind. I was in P10 and struggling.. I was using lower gears and more throttle second half and I think that messed up my tyre wear.

Expecting to get passed before the race finished, the car in front came off and I inherited P9. The guy behind never closed the gap, so P9 it was :dopey:.
Blue SR, DR went up 80ish. The last few races it's been going up like a piranha attack...one tiny bite at a time. Another day above DR 1 :odd:.

I watched his steam after the race. I'm not sure how he missed it since I was right behind him for 5 laps. I think it was the race after he was coming out of the pits and saying what can I do in clear air to catch the leader just as I came past to ruin his race

I've been an annoying bastard this week

Some more Race As, but now on main account.
Spent 30 mins trying to improve my qually time, but couldn’t. So still at 2:00.787.
I’m now consistently in low/mid 2:01s when hot lapping.

Race 1
2nd on grid. S/S driver on pole.
Uneventful race. Finished 2nd behind S/S driver on pole. I was about 1 second behind. I was about 2 seconds ahead of 3rd from the start of lap 2. Made no mistakes. Happy with second as I beat two A/S drivers.
My last three laps all in 2:01. Pleased with that.
Blue SR.

Race 2
2nd on grid. Same S/S driver on pole.
Finished 2nd. 3rd close behind at the end. Driver got in front at one point too, so had to win the place back. Some good racing. 1st pulled away from us.
In the 2:02s for my fastest lap.
White SR.

Still at SR 99 and about 1300 DR gained.

Much cleaner this afternoon.

@Illum_Concept yes, the inconsistency can really get on my nerves. My 3 second penalty in my 4th race earlier on left me thinkin 'did he go off on purpose' after we touched. Overall he was clean during the race, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Two more B races in the books, both lights-to-flag victories. Nice meeting you @doblocruiser  and yeah that first race went about as well as it could have. I wanted to get my overall race time below 7:50, and when P2 made a few mistakes in the opening lap I was free to basically run hotlaps and ended up with a 7:49.975 :dopey: The second race was quite a bit harder though. I was about 7 tenths slower per lap :odd: and the same person in second place was able to stay in the slipstream for the whole race. He gave me a proper run for my money, we finished just 3 tenths apart :nervous:

DR to 67077 and climbing! :D
