No cones. Cant be your lap :lol:
What steering rotation setting you use?
When testing yesterday, I used 180deg steering and got my time to 2:14.
Will hunt your time tonight for sure :)

Yeah, the cones get in the way during the chicane on this combo so I turned them off. I had the steering rotation on 5 blinks(TM) which is max rotation for this car. Keep working at it man, you’ll get it.

Did 2 races on Mount Panorama last night. First one, no qualy - finished 14th. Got punted around a bit and binned it myself at a corner or two. Went into qualy afterwards - only managed a high 2:17.

Was still good for 5th on the grid (I have sunken down to a D rating on DR, thats why a 2:17 gives me 5th place). Had I gotten my Q time from last time, a 2:16:4xx, I would have started 2nd.

Managed to not bin it in this race. Passed one car on the track, and another that spun out, ended up 3rd. And missed fastest lap by 0.020.

The first race had dropped my DR enough, that this 3rd place only got me to within 20 points of where I started.

Nevertheless - I think I can repair my DR on this track this week.

Also - a few weeks ago it was the Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama. There is this promotional video, that gets you really hyped up for the track:

In case someone needs hyping up for Mount Panorama. Its also a pretty good track guide.

That was an amazing promotional movie!

Field report:
I don't want to know how long I spent on trying to go under 2:10 with the Beat. I was on track for low 2:08, when the car decides to troll me by throwing me into a wall in the downhill esses.
I'm settling for a 2:09.9. I am so done with this combination.

I still rely on those cones way too much. Try to wean myself away by turning them off once I’m comfortable with a track but damn

I use the corner indicators. No braking indication so it takes a little longer to learn braking points, but they don't get in the way and can't be knocked out by other vehicles. I used to consider them a crutch but they sort of compensate for not having VR or a 3D TV.

Your best splits in the current session, basically you best possible lap time based on your best sector times.
Which on some tracks is unachievable, as a perfect split will leave you really messed up for the entry of the first corner of the next sector. It depends on where the sectors start and finish in relation to the corners.

Not much of a Megane fest in my neighborhood. Last two races were RC Fs and Mustangs(probably due to Scott McLaughlin :)).

 I should consider creating an Asia account. EMEA blindly follows the meta choice: 90%* Megane, 5% saving credits to buy it so use another car instead and the last 5% selected the wrong Renault (Trophy) by mistake.

*exaggerated figures but you see the point.

I only had time for a no qualifying race at Panorama yesterday. I'm going to need to put a lot of laps in a that track before I can be competitive. That down hill section through the esses kills me. The Megane isn't going to be the car for me there because I lose the back end somewhere in that down hill section every lap. As a new player, my Gr. 4 cars are limited to the Megane, the 86, and the Scirocco I have from my racing contract. Maybe I'll have to buy a couple new ones to try.

Either way though, I'm hoping I have time for Race C tonight. This week is pretty busy...I don't think I'll be able to hot lap as much as I did last week, so I think I'll probably be back to a DR C/D before the week is up.

Try the Sirocco, set BB to 5 and it will be better down that hill

I seem to recall in the past that @05XR8 had some success at a variety of tracks with the Scirocco. The fake6 should be pretty good through the twisties but I think it lacks punch on the straits.

I really really hate the Honda. Can't figure out why but I always spin out of control.
Tried different brake balances, different TCS, brake hard and turn in, brake soft in advance and be smooth.
Whatever I do I can't complete a lap without spinning out at least one time.
Apart from "Race in the other two" or "complete the lap in first gear", does someone have a suggestion?

You can say your Peter, say your Allan. Don't put me up on your bedroom wall. Caaaaall meeeeee King of the Mountain!!

Erm, ok, so last night, first race of the week at Bathurst I went in with the car that always makes me feel like I need a shower or disinfecting after driving it, the Holden Mustang. I was pretty surprised to start P6/16, it was a pretty ordinary time I'd set, but about as good as *I* could manage. Mixed grid of DR/C and D. After a realy crappy race where I ended up in the sand at Sulman Park whilst trying to avoid a ghosted Cayman stopped in the middle of the track that had just decided to unghost. Things were further crappy when on the last lap I was sucked into the back end of a Trophy on the last lap braking for The Chase. I pulled over off the track to wait for them to regain position, but my collision netted me a 4s penalty. The upshot being a P15 finish, a loss of 8SR and 1k DR :irked:. Wasn't going to post a report, but its a good reference point for the next half of this post .

Tonight I went in with @Sven Jurgens favourite car, the GT-R ;). Now, when I change cars, the aim isn't necessarily to set a steller time, it's more about trying to set a better qualifying time that I did with the car I used before. It just doesn't sit well with me using the qualifying time set by another car unless I can at least set an optimum lap that matches or beats it.

So, I managed to beat my Mustang time. For those who complain about a sea of Megans, check this out:

Just the one Megan :sly:. Anywho.... The grid sets up, we get rolling, the count down starts, then auto drive to disengages. Now what's the technical expression? Oh yes, "packing darkies", yes I believe that's the expression to describe the wave of panic washing over me at that instant :scared:.

I survived the dash for crash at Hell Corner. Exiting Griffins I saw the gap close, and part way up the hill towards The Cutting he appeared on my radar. I was expecting him to try for a pass at the cutting, but I didn't give him any opportunity, I wasn't prepared to risk hitting a wall by getting off line and he didn't have any overlap yet. He dropped back about 1s, maybe scrapped a wall. the gap expanded to 3s after Forrest.

From that point I focused on not 🤬 up, kept an eye on the gap, but it never closed to less than 2s. I can only assume he was having a harder time with the same car, cause by the end, despite being cautious I finished 4s ahead. :

Yeh... I'm just as shocked as the rest of you :dopey:. SR up 4 (P2 had red). DR went up 1.1k . Another day above DR 1 :D.

I think I found the worst car for Mount Panorama, Alfa 4C. Best lap of 2:21.059, over 5 sec slower than everything else  No clue why, it's just so slow on that track. Mount Panorama doesn't like MR cars in general, and being fast in the twisty bits doesn't help while racing from the back behind a blockade of Meganes. They can screw up every corner and sprint away again :ouch:

The 4C is a big momentum car, it doesn’t do well in stop’n’go type situations due to its lack of power.

Yeah it really is a deceiving tricky car to drive, to make it driveable i like to put a bit of rear brake bias (1/2), trail brake to rotate the car then apply just a little of throttle to catch the escaping rear, not easy to get it right but it kind of works like a mini "Gr3 MR" where you're always using a fraction of throttle to stabilize the car on corners

I don't believe that there is any shame in having the cones on. It's the only consistent braking marker. In some places, there is essentially no landmark to use as a braking marker. In others, the landmark is too far off track. That leaves you to do it by feel.

If a high level player, or pro racer, can show my how the cones are not beneficial, I'll continue to use them.

Not sure how many of you use ghosts from the top 10 to learn tracks but this minor tweak has made it easier for me.

Ghost settings -> Offset Ghost Ahead of You -> 0.8 seconds.

My 2c on cones. They are annoying when they’re scattered around the track so I don’t use them.

Some idiot spins Infront of me at T1 on race C and I have nowhere to go/time to react and get a 3 second penalty, dispute the fact they were already out if control??:confused:
This is one of my biggest frustrations. Cars out of control coming back on to the track, you have nowhere to go and get a penalty. If you brake to try avoid, then the guy behind hits you and you get a penalty. PD really need to try and identify who causes a collision - if someone is out of control it's probably them

I know most folk would be against it but I'd love it if they brought in something that stopped people using the same car over and over and over.

I did 5 race C this morn, 2 in the Supra, then the RCZ followed by the Z4 and back to the Supra. In those 5 races there was at least 5 players who participated in all 5 races and never changed car once.

At end of the day folk can play the game as they please and I'm fine with that but I'd introduce something to promote variety.

This is what I would do

After 2 sport mode races a car becomes unavailable for 2 races and is in the workshop for servicing. If you have a duplicate car that is still useable. This would be disabled for 1 make races obviously.

As I said I know a lot of people wouldn't like but as I said it would promote variety in the grids and as a plus point make those duplicate cars you get on the roulette wheel useful.

I’m all for more variety in races but I like to stick with cars for a while to see how much I can get out of them. So I would not like that at all.

I do think you should be forced to race with whatever car you qualified in though. Then maybe we would see a bit more variety.
