Enough racing for today. The last one I did in the max SR.S room was dirtier than the one in SR.E this morning. The difference, in SR.E everyone gets a blue rating for dirty ramming, in SR.S it was a sea of red. I ended up with a BS penalty from a car still managing to bounce off of me when I took the fast right down the chase with only 2 wheels on the road, other two on the other side of kerb trying to avoid exactly that. So I went from last to 10th to penalty last, back to 10th, to nuclear bombed to 14th, to finish 13th. SR back down to 88.

Saturday evening, abort, avoid, run for the hills, do not enter, or thou shalt race C again.

@Groundfish lol, what is going on. I was in a B/S to D/S room though half an hour ago or so. Perhaps the room I was in flushed the toilet. Beware they will be back :scared:

I dunno, I am below 99 and had a room full of s to red a lol. I was still s blue.
I am driving for Ferrari right now to keep it spicy, my qual keeps me in front of the mayhem barring mistakes.
458 Italia...I am in control of my sr, just have yet to run across someone deserving of a fight.
#playingwithfire
Mcclaren up next...
Switching it up to Chevy now...
Actually, matching has been good and racing has been fine...I’m done, still B S, even after attacking the A plus A Megane from South America that made the mistake of starting on pole...
Guarantee he’s been running that race steady and dirty by his time and stats...No remorse, but it’s pointless unskillful and boring.
I did have one blue and white flag yellow Meganne get by at Griffins, only because I knew if I defended hard it would be pen for me and I was in the Italia, luckily I passed at skyline due to his mistake before a fight could break out.
It’s just not enjoyable to race dirty, but apparently at prime evening time matchmaking works, if you qual decent and are 99 you will be fine and have clean racing, but also and in case anyone is curious just try it...you can drop sr to lower and have dirty racing.
After resetting on purpose the other day I think the matchmaking works pretty decent. There’s fast and dirty lobbies depending on qual at say A and below sr.
To be honest as a solid A main, I think those lobbies are fun on alt myself.
It’s actually sort of good practice if nothing else for defensive technique.
I dunno but at least tonight at prime time, clean racing at c s and b s is available without much effort really.
I think people should jump in and race when they feel like they can run the track safely and let the rest sort itself out.
Plus they shouldn’t get angry until after watching the replay. Honestly I don’t think there’s much way to really get good at things without doing it.
Also, I have been running the line on all the time lately, it makes it easier and less practice required.
I haven’t ever used any cones even for my entire time in game, but anymore I reccomend doing it.
It’s amazing to run a race and see how far off 75 to 85 percent of general population is from a decent line.
It has a lot of benefits.
Wall of text, I know, but I have to say occasionally I like a fighting dirty no holds barred race, but most of the time I can’t do it. I wanted to start a fight with someone tonight, but at 99 I was unable to really do it.
Plus, I don’t want to drop right now to say low a or even b sr.
It should be noted though, dirty is available if that’s what a person enjoys, and for the most part you simply don’t see that in the 99 rooms.
I found it hilarious the other night to go crazy with 5hat dirty stuff, but overall I am back where I started, and I would gues where many players are at I’m terms of etiquette.
Everyone pretty much is like “I don’t want any trouble but if you do, I’m the GUNS OF THE NAVARONE”
I guess lol I drive accordingly.

Rough start on the mountain tonight. If I wanted to tank my SR, I should have just done race C. Crickey. Hopefully next one is better.

Edit: it was.

Second edit: Gr3 at RBR? Gr1 at Sarthe? I am full of mirth for next week.

Yeah... went back to te mountain befote watching the last (V8)Supercars race in my city. Used the Slophy for the first one. Not bad. Was way quicker on acceleration from The Cutting to Forest's Elbow. Also tucked under the rear wing of the Megane ahead, I wasn't being left behind.
Pretty good race and result.

Tried the TT next. Behind a plethora of RCZs and an RC F. RC F had the top speed and good acceleration, but the driver was sliding the rear all over the place. That's a car that has a soft suspension. It handles the curbs well and it's pretty smooth. Even with TCS 0, it shouldn't be sliding around at corner exit.

Anyway, it slid too much into T2 and I scooped that spot. Couldn't do anything to the Megane ahead, but ran a smooth race.

Half thinking I might do the new races for the week.

Finally got into qualifying again as I knew I had plenty of way faster lap times in me. After 45 ugly minutes of knocking a tenth off one lap then spinning while being 0.5 under I finally nailed one close enough to call. Would love to see where I could start now in a race but can't be bothered. Going to edit a video of idiotic crashes, see if I can learn sharefactory any better.

I'm looking forward to next week. Like RBR but it doesn't like me. Had a blast cleaning up at Sarthe last time so hoping to do it again this time if people crash as much as they did last time they ran this combo, or as much as they did this week. Plus I have 2 week days off to race during the day when less crazies are out.

If you're talking about how PD has been recycling most of these races lately, I am so ready to rant again.

If you're talking about how the Time Trial car of choice will be the Alpine VGT again, with the actual race being a TS050 one-make, I don't know what else to say but "ugh."

It was mentioned somewhere in this site a while ago; since the Original Circuits don't have turn names, I decided to avoid going to sleep start naming some turns on these circuits. The turn names are based on what I've heard here, and on what I felt like naming some of these turns. I'm trying not to give turns names that come from big companies (like Coca Cola Corner at Fuji) because that's boring. So to start it off, I went ahead and named some turns over at Dragon Trail - Seaside. I hope you all enjoy. :D

This could be a very fun game. There should definitely be a thread for it *hint hint* . .

I'll still probably be running Group Cs... just not sure if I'm ready to sell out yet :odd:.

See, I believe Duff Chicane should be renamed Sturk. That chicane is where madness, mayhem and chaos ensures, and as we know....it's all @sturk0167 's fault!

Race B: Improved Q time in the F-type today by over 2 seconds.. down to mid 15's now. Then raced an appalling race, P9 - P11, all my own doing. Then raced a nice clean race (on my part) but had another Jag try to cut under me to go two wide at Forrest Elbow.... from four car lengths back. :banghead:
Earned me a four second penalty for "colliding with another vehicle". While it didn't upset my run onto Conrod much and lost him about 1.5 - 2 seconds, he and another car were able to pass me under penalty on the Mountain Straight penalty zone, started P7 finished P8.

I'm pretty sure that's next week's Race C and not a fabrication. :p I'm surprised you pick Le Mans when next week has Red Bull Ring for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.

If it wasn't for Le Mans, I doubt I'd be racing at all. I'm looking forward to it.

For me, qualifying: N/A and racing: R92CP or 787B. It looks like I'll be on a one way ticket back to DR B land.

Finshed my 4th day in the hills. Mixed results.

As I have parked finally the Megane and promised not touching it again for any Mount Panorama sorties, I have tried the Mustang.

Qualiying was awesome, was able to write a 2.13.3xx onto the board. Which Is with my skills pretty magic.

As present for my century lap, I was forced to start between 1st and 5th place.

And there it begins. It took me weeks to come back to a SR S rating. And there I was. Sitting in the Grid. Between 10 and 14 hotrod NOS Meganes in my back. I got raped. Pushed. Slapped. Whipped. Spanish, English, Italians. The whole EU decided that the straight line power output of an RWD is not friendly welcome in the Hills.
As we all know, the penalty system is a piece of stinking, hateful 🤬. 4 sec, 7sec, 3sec.... race after race I was degraded and humilated. Ended my racenight in Australia at SR C. :nervous:

Tried to improve the rating with a try at Race A. Was more fun than expected, but in the 2nd lap after 14 Minutes of delivery time my food was delivered. So I got disqualified as I had to open the door.

At least I can highly recommend M42 with Naan. M37 was good, too. But I will not order it again. What is your favourite indish food?

I don't know, I thought that the 908 was actually pretty fast in time trial, even more than the alpine.

Good morning! I'm starting the day with the classic Bathurst penalty.
bU9SKyF.gif

I've had plenty of those last week but this one was weird. I ended up with 1.5 sec penalty colliding with a B/S driver (C/S myself currently) The first 0.5 sec is for ignoring track limits thus getting tapped out of the track which happens before he leaves the road, yet then I get 1 sec SR Down penalty on top for him going off road. Since I'm lower DR and went off road first according to the game, why do I get both penalties  Maybe different track limits for the 'shortcut' and 'crash'. 83 SR left.

Second race, second penalty.
HUHD1px.gif

Trying to barge pass along the outside, that's creative. I finished 4th despite the penalty, 78 SR left.

I registered purely to say how disappointed I was to find out ABS off is so much slower.

Mount Panorama 13.2 abs off to 12.8 with it on after 3 laps... And consistently that pace too.

Guess it you can't beat them join them. I did wonder why I was the only person that ever seemed to have the odd lock-up

I guess I should consider myself lucky since my tussle was the only one worth noting this week. However, in your opinion, the passes at 0:40 & 1:06 by the car behind you were aye OK & the game choosing to give no penalties in either instance is "just racing"? Those are lunges by desperate drivers who lack the necessary skill.

By not anticipating calamity, you are similarly displaying a lack of skill.

I don't know about you, but I can only recall a handful of driver's who I am confident will only make stupid moves some of the time. Still happens. Heck, I've done it myself.

In any given race of 20 or so people, there is usually no more than 6 people that I trust. That leaves +/- 14 that I don't trust. Of the 6 people that I trust to make smart moves, that trust decreases exponentially with every lap.

I don't know if you hit the track in reality, but I would be surprised if you approached the real track with the same level of trust. This stuff, happens for real. Dudes make stupid dives. You can go ahead and think that it's stupid, that it's wrong, that it shouldn't be done, it's still going to happen and you'll still be involved in a wreck.

It's up to you. You can either lean on the penalty system to punish someone who has done you wrong, or you can try to avoid the problems. That is "just racing".

Raikononen vs VerStappen - "Otherwise I should have got a penalty if it was not correct" .... Or, as every coach states it in other sports, "play the whistle".

(this vid is from F1 so you have to watch on Youtube)

Edit: I could literally fill a page in this thread with videos of professional racers making bold moves during a race, because, that IS racing. In motorcycle racing, there is a saying: "There are old riders and there are bold riders, but there are no old bold riders."

Raikonnen sure cries a lot. One thing I will say about Senna, at Suzuka when he got pole and they changed starting positions to put him outside with less grip on the start he told them what would happen he would not yield. We all saw what happened.
I don’t know if you watched highlights f my Interlagos, but those guys were racing pretty hard.
I think in this game, you can play it like you say, no penalty is fair, but you may not make many friends by sticking the nose in, in fact, many people will punt you off straightaway for barge passing, but usually barge passing is no penalty.
In reality, we see retaliation all the time, for example in NASCAR, Karting, retaliation is part of racing, and it should be expected when a player crosses a certain line that regardless of penalty given or not by the game that all players should choose to take action. I honestly believe if a repeat offender say barge passer gets taken out every time they do that, eventually they will stop because they are not gaining advantage by that.
I dunno, to me it’s a culture thing.
Personally, I am not going to sit there and cry about spilt milk, I am going to smash the milkman if you get my drift.
Motorsport irl is dangerous. People doing unsafe things may have bad things happen, it’s just the way it is.
Take Spa for example in GTS. I had a race there I am starting next to last and this jackass cheat bashes by me in the chicane, but, I run tcs and a heavy car for this exact reason, and he was unable to get to safety by the hairpin, so I gave him a nice baby punt and went through. If everyone took action with this crap, then it would not be standard behavior by the ‘I am elite and will hazard flash after barge passing’ crew. Bud, you can flash hazards all you want you will still get taken out next corner...
That’s racing.
EDIT I so agree, @Voodoovaj that in game one needs to anticipate, especially if you make a bobble or mistake, or leave a door halfway open in sport mode, you HAVE to anticipate what will happen. I can predict what 90 percent of drivers in game will do.

Gr3 at RBR? Gr1 at Sarthe? I am full of mirth for next week.

I think PD does it on purpose so that we choose to take a break from GTS to focus on other aspects or games in our lives.

Just got a whopping 41 SR for a clean race C last to first on my R4M account. Was surprising, considering I got shoved off the track twice

Even after my couple of race Cs from yesterday, I had climbed back to DR A. I'll have to keep that in mind for the next few weeks.

:banghead:

"Just racing"? You see, this is another example. If the guy in back was in too big of a hurry & slams a car in front of them, how does the car in front get the penalty? This week has taught me that I'll have to test the waters on my dark side account before subjecting my (now repaired) main account to the tyranny of the penalty system abusers.

I don't know if you hit the track in reality, but I would be surprised if you approached the real track with the same level of trust. This stuff, happens for real. Dudes make stupid dives. I haven't been on a real track in years. And, I've seen plenty of passes during that time & watching from my favorite home chair. But, there is a line between driving "bold" & driving "foolish". It's simple in my book: if you couldn't make the pass under normal conditions but you brake later, crash into someone, knock someone off track, then you crossed over from bold to foolish. The 3 amigos I have been railing on about crossed that line. They were desperate at the times we recorded those moves & are likely desperate at all times on the track. They aren't the only ones, as there are so many, they will always be in a lobby with drivers who respect the sanctity of racing. As for your second statement, I try to avoid trouble, but some people only live to create trouble. Nobody who drives fair can rely on the game's penalty system to punish those who misbehave. It's already proven multiple times each day that it doesn't know what fair is.

Hardly any time for GTS this week. Yesterday was all about @Bivittavus88 enduro race at Spa. Great fun!

Today, I've jumped on the dailies for some hot lapping. Avoiding Race A.

Race C first.
Started with the Renault RS01 - I'm liking this car, but I don't think it had the grunt on the straight: 1:21:096
Next was the 911. Lots of others using it. I couldn't really get the feel for it as I rarely use it. Best: 1:21.232
Followed by the Audi, which is one of my preferred GR3 cars. Best: 1:20.687.

Left it there for Race C.

Race B.
Only tried the Megane. It is OP at this track, but I like it here. The last time it was GR4 at the Mount I didn't have much time spare either. A shame as its one of the best tracks in the game and I enjoyed racing there when it was a daily late last year.

20 odd laps for a best of 2:13.719. Opt is 2:13.4xx.

I have to point out, and this will also be an unpopular opinion, but if you drive more like Alain Prost than Ayrton Senna in this game it’s really difficult to not be sr S.
If you are trying to go door to door with multiple strangers every chance you get you will always have sr issues and get exposed to the dregs of the game.
No one wants to hear it but the game tells you to slow down for a reason sometimes. Just because you are in a race doesn’t mean you should be half outta control.
Jackie Stewart famously said Prost was better than Senna, citing the fact that Senna was wringing the car out sawing at the wheel but Prost was smooth.
My point is, if you have trouble maintaining sr and wish to race clean the only sensible thing to do is slow down and be more patient and conservative.
Leave yourself more margin for error both in proximity to other cars and in terms of speed.
Imo big sr troubles indicate lack of vehicle control.
Admittedly, @Sven Jurgens is a bit of a different case since he runs exclusively from the back.
The other thing is if you do spend half a week working on qual to set a Unicorn time and it IS a unicorn time for YOU, you will be under attack most likely and experience trouble. If you have that pace and control it’s no problem.
I have had very very good luck on alt because I don’t set the qual time at my best. I ty to set it just fast enough to start me ahead of people who don’t have a handle on the combo, imo that’s the best chance to ensure you experience clean racing due to the fact it’s unlikely you will be under attack immediately.
I would say after experimenting on alt you can pretty much choose what experience you want to have in sport mode (at least the MAJORITY of races)
If you are basically doing the right things even in lower rooms, you might get shunted, but you should be able to maintain pretty much clean if that’s what you want.
I reccomend people try lowering sr also just to check out dirty racing. You might find it fun and challenging to battle.
Bad day at work? It’s kinda nice to go out and just battle hard and not really care about results.
Achieving and valuing stats is not the only fun way to play GTS.
