Fwd is the work of the devil, and not the cool kind like heavy metal.

First race over the mountain was good. Running the moostang and just looking for experiance in the race cars on a fun track. Started 8 fell to a rcz for 9 gap of 3.5+ to 10. It was clean and i am really happy that i made sure to have a comfortable pace before joing the crowd. This race really needs to be at least 4 laps though....

Second race was good also. Started 5 stayed 5, in a sea of meganes. I was able to challenge the guy in front of me for a lap and a half but i messed up coming down the hill second lap. I need a map with names.....

Ugh, it was going well. I got into 3rd again with the Ferrari no stop. I made room for 4th to pass, no problem. Then an Argentinian is closing in. I expect him to dive in T1 but he stays behind, fine. So he pit manoevers me in the next sharp left not being able to hold his line :banghead: He drives off of course, no penalty since I didn't leave the road, just turn backwards stopped in the middle. I finish 6th. It turns out to be another DR.S player, blaming me for being slow. That's the third DR.S asshole today. (Btw he was the only one with a red rating in the room, I kept the CRB despite the spin out)

Next race it was a Canadian in an Atenza
AGB4VQY.gif

The excuses are what bother me the most, the things he said after: "I had the corner" "I made the apex" "You turned in on me" Of course the game gives me SR Down as well. I saw him coming, didn't aim at the apex, get punted off, game blames me.

There are people that know how to race. The guy with a TRL tag in front of me made a great clean pass. I didn't have to jump out of the way or make extraordinary evasive maneuvers as usual. Sadly, nowadays that's rare. And this was in the max SR room. I already lost the CRB early from a penalty serving Canadian who immediately started bumping me right after. Predictable, stay clear of people with penalties. Great idea to put them behind innocent bystanders PD!

Dinner time, race C can go suck it. Mountain after dinner!

You should make a pit stop for tires change only. It's faster than refuel

I am not doing very well atm. Dropping a couple spots every race, due to messing up myself though, still clean and fun races. I am gaining a few spots back after i drop to the back with the spins i keep having for some reason now lol the field has diversified also, only a couple megane in the last few races. I am also clearly not in the top rooms now...

I was down to D/E :O FF cars are still winning, RCZ seems to be a more preferred choice of weapon in the nether regions. I'm driving the Mustang today, got sub 2:15 once in a race, most of it is dodging cars though. 2nd place, 3rd place is a lot easier to achiever down here. First still escapes in a Megane or RCZ. Currently 3.6K DR, 16 SR

I got into SR A with a couple of S drivers & this is what I get:

I believe the video above is one of those rare 'dive bomb' moments. Instead of being hot about the whole thing, I should feel like David Attenborough capturing an endangered species in the wild. :irked:

I'm not the GT Sport police by any means, but I'm putting blame on you for both those altercations.

For the first one, you were following WAY too close through that left at the top of the hill. It's an area where cars are prone to getting loose and you should have been expecting a check up there. Totally your fault and you proved the penalty system was working just fine.

That first turn incident was also a foregone conclusion all the way. You should have seen, or at least expected a lunge there. That's a perfect over/under opportunity. That wasn't a "dive bomb". He would have made that corner whether you were there or not. You turned in without care.

What's gained by that? I'm not arguing, I'm seriously asking.

The way I see it, stopping for tires only is about 12 seconds (I did it in time trail to see). If you stop at lap 8 or 9, you're going to have to put in laps that are almost 2 seconds per lap faster than being on worn tires.

When I'm on worn tires at the end of the race, I'm only about 1 second per lap slower.

Sounds like argentinian flag. Not known as dive bombers but huge machismo culture so probably treat them with caution. Used to work with a lot of them, quite a few had the 'you can never beat me I will win at all costs' disease. Some were cool. We hung out with the latter, sounds like you got the former.

Here is an example of an Argentinian. I pass him contact free first.

He couldn't handle it.

He leaves with blue SR, I get a red rating. The game just loves dirty driving!

He has the sun in the flag, definitely Argentina, so the plain blue white blue is still a mystery.

Can't be that many Central/South American countries with blue/white flags, right? ;)

Honduras

Yeah I looked them up, they all have something extra in the middle. Who does the plain version belong to

Wow race B is toxic today. I think I need to change my strategy, clean driving is not working at all. You have to disable cars instead of passing them.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree on the dive bomb aspect. The check up at the top of the hill that drew a penalty was unexpected. I was seeing the car's trajectory & thought he had no chance to keep it on track. I maintained my normal turn in & drive out when the car slowed down suddenly. The penalty could have been recovered from. As for the turn 1 incident, he was too far back to make a safe, clean pass. I saw the time delta, & a driver worth his DR wouldn't have gotten on the brakes so late. That was a dive bomb, plain & simple. That was retaliation for his poor driving that he saw as my aggressive driving. That is a bad judgement call on him & he was allowed to get away with it.

Is the outcome crappy, yes, but you could have avoided it by just being a little more aware. After all, if it's a dive bomb, as you say, a little avoidance would have allowed him to drive right off into the gravel trap and you would have gotten away clean.

All I am saying is that you lacked a little situational awareness. Real racers don't like to race closely with people they don't know, because they can't predict their actions. The unfortunate aspect of the DR system is that 1 letter covers a huge range of skill levels.

I get flack for being a motogp fan rather than a fan of (most) auto racing, but no one is really racing anymore in cars. It's not like it once was where people could actually race each other. None the less, here's a bunch of lunge passes that people here would consider "dirty" but I consider racing.

Show me an F1 race that has ended like this in recent history and I may change my allegiance.

These two are also difficult to distinguish in the game, because they're small, and it's hard to see small details.

It is really easy, although I screwed it up a lot when I first moved down here. There's either a dot under the Union Jack or not. All those blue and white flags would screw me up worse. Like the Italy and Ireland mix. Luckily down here we never see that many flags in a race. Usually just Japan and Aus.

And while we are on flags I was looking them up yesterday for @Sven Jurgens post as well and I found out my scramble on the 'Chinese' flag. Forgot Taiwan refers to itself as Chinese Taipei.

And with the countries and number of players, down here with 50k or so. Outnumbered!

@NoStopN

As luck would have it, the same kind of maneuvers happened to me so I uploaded the video to illustrate what I'm trying to point out. You just have to be aware that people are going to try and let them get themselves into trouble. It happens a few times. This video has clean passes, and ambitious passes.

Every time I want to restore my SR the game will have none of it. Disconnected for race C right after the lobby loaded, -5 SR, -1500 DR or so lol. I did a race A to kill time which is pretty decent in SR.C actually. I made it to the finish with CRB, 5th place finish, +7 SR to 36. Even with the SR.C boost, race A is not viable to get out of this hole. The mountain race I did first resulted in neutral SR, too much bumping going on to gain any SR there. Race C loading, maybe it will work this time.

That helps, 2nd place finish, CRB, +34 SR to 70. At least you can gain SR at race C as fast as you can lose it at race B

Not sure it will be any easier next week, trying to play leapfrog with the hybrids on the Mulsanne straight, without getting hit.

I guess I should consider myself lucky since my tussle was the only one worth noting this week. However, in your opinion, the passes at 0:40 & 1:06 by the car behind you were aye OK & the game choosing to give no penalties in either instance is "just racing"? Those are lunges by desperate drivers who lack the necessary skill. Contrast that to the 4:35 mark of the video below. The driver behind was within a distance to expect a chance to pass. Situational awareness is based on the foundation of being aware of others in your vicinity. The guy I pointed out in addition to the 2 I pointed out in your video were not in a vicinity that would have been expecting a passing opportunity. The 2 in your video would not have "made that corner whether the other car was there or not. They turned in without care". The cars turning in had the proper racing line. The cars who went kamikaze were not in control. They were not looking to improve their position through a great pass. They were impatient, possibly unskilled, drivers. I've said it before & I'll say it again: If penalties are going to be dished out, they need to be equal about it. DR/SR rating or number of days logged into the game should have no bearing. The actions on the track should be punishable all the way around. We were all new to the game at some time & I've made some bonehead moves. I've gotten penalties that I both deserved & didn't, as well as not been given a penalty when I fully expected the system to slap me with one. We won't be able to feel like it's fair until everyone gets the same treatment.

Yep, that's going to be fun again, and that's the race to restore SR

I got another contact free CRB at race C, so the max amount (above 50 SR) for race C this week is 21 SR. That with a penalty zone that basically brakes for you for the upcoming corner, no wonder it's dive bomb central.

Back to SR.S, SR.C was getting tedious. Literally the only way to pass was to wait to have an overwhelmingly better corner exit, fake out the car in front trying to dirty block, dodge the side swipe and build up enough distance before the corner not to get hit by the flashing headlights dive bomb following straight after. It's different for sure.

Some nice results on the way back up the SR ladder.
nOdnlgg.jpg

Anecdotal I know, but anything catch your eye of the results of a SR.D lobby at the bottom right

The mountain back in SR.S, +1 SR, just as dirty lol.

I feel like you're trying to play a game of "Where's Waldo". Are we looking at the number of DNFs? Are we still trying to figure out the mystery of the blue/white flag? Are we looking at the driver named "the Faker"?

Just the contrast with an SR.S lobby, for example the one I was in just now
VaR7oTI.jpg

I was the only North American in that SR.D lobby. You kinda notice the different make up of rooms when you keep going down and up the SR ladder.

Megane wins anyway.

I adore race C. I really do.

I have some German in my genes so it's fitting that I feel schadenfreude whenever someone who was "racing" with me is on a 1 stop strategy. The post race commentary can be glorious at times. I can almost feel that smug feeling of superiority from that other driver through the controller. I can see them just going for it, and they think I am doing the same, then there's the pit stop and I swear I can hear the groans.

I think that is what is making the sound in this video (which is currently of unknown origin)

It's Bigfoot, for sure. I've run into that sob many a time.
Tell him next time I see him, its on!
@sturk0167 the 1st thing that came to my mind was Jack Links beef jerky "Messing with Sasquatch".

B s is so civilized. I was trying to force myself to go to war, but I can’t yet...Need some livation.
If this next one is clean also I am gonna go in c...
I need to find the sweet spot of semi fast but very dirty people.
I can’t wreak havoc, I managed a pen, but felt bad...

Enough racing for today. The last one I did in the max SR.S room was dirtier than the one in SR.E this morning. The difference, in SR.E everyone gets a blue rating for dirty ramming, in SR.S it was a sea of red. I ended up with a BS penalty from a car still managing to bounce off of me when I took the fast right down the chase with only 2 wheels on the road, other two on the other side of kerb trying to avoid exactly that. So I went from last to 10th to penalty last, back to 10th, to nuclear bombed to 14th, to finish 13th. SR back down to 88.

Saturday evening, abort, avoid, run for the hills, do not enter, or thou shalt race C again.

@Groundfish lol, what is going on. I was in a B/S to D/S room though half an hour ago or so. Perhaps the room I was in flushed the toilet. Beware they will be back :scared:
