@Lion-Face , like @05XR8 likes to be a bit of a dark horse and challenge conventional wisdom.
It was a weird one, but I just ran my race. For sure thought the awd cars would pass me at the start and out of corners. I kept waiting for it, but it wasn't happening. MAybe some of the cars changed(was catching up quick, no doubt the leaders were conserving fuel).

I'd be curious to see how the C9 would do, as players start using the META(probably the R18 or Alpine).

Another week of recycled Daily Races. :(
Hopefully, someone at Monaco told Kaz to make Daily Races diverse again.

I wonder if that's the reason for the recycled races though. If the person who makes the Daily Races ("Dave") is involved with the World Tour events, then Dave doesn't have time to do anything to prepare the Daily Races for the following week and just picks 3 races and settings used before as a quick and easy option.

Someone said in a previous post that the last time this set of recycled races appeared was around the time of the June World Tour event, which would tally with this theory.

With no World Tour events coming up for a while, Dave has no excuse not to come up with something different next week. One of the races is almost guaranteed to be Laguna Seca next week.

I'm 0.4 seconds away from top 10. I'd like to see who, besides me, are using a DS4.
I'm DS4 but not in your class. About 2 seconds off Asia top ten as of three hours ago. Had a miraculously clean race though :D

Hey, @Sven Jurgens seeing as this week's Sarthe race uses the same settings as last time. Do you remember if any of the old Group C cars can no stop?

What @Invisigoth said. Porsche is the best, before that it was the R92CP. Both can do a no stop but R92CP needs a bit more fuel saving. The others are bad on fuel. It's the same combo again as before the 962C was added. This is an old list of nr of laps you can do with AT in FM1. The 962C would come in just above the R92CP.

Toyota TS050 5.0 laps
Toyota TS030 4.5 laps
GTR-LM Nismo 4.4 laps
Peugeot 908 HDi 4.4 laps
SRT Tomahawk 4.4 laps
Nissan R92CP 4.3 laps
Audi R18 '16 4.2 laps
Porsche 919 4.1 laps
Audi VGT 4.0 laps
Alpine VGT 4.0 laps
Mazda LM55 4.0 laps
Bugatti VGT 3.9 laps
Jaguar XJR-9 3.8 laps
Sauber C9 3.7 laps
Peugeot L750R 3.7 laps
Hyundai N 2025 3.6 laps
McLaren VGT 3.6 laps
Mazda 787B 3.5 laps
Audi R18 '11 3.5 laps

Some cockpits have a rear view mirror, but you can barely see it because PD are so strict on accuracy of the modeled interior. This is ludicrous. I say just give everyone the options for digital mirrors, both side and rear. Imagine if we could all turn on 3 mirrors to see what's around us. That plus full damage would create some really clean racing IMO.

I understand Kaz desire to try to limit any view from having a advantage over others. But that comes at the cost of more accidents online. Now while I find chase cam to be ridiculously unrealistic/arcadey......I would rather you have rear view mirrors than not, because i would rather you know I'm about to be on the inside than have you turn in blind. In tight racing, this will make for much cleaner racing. A lot of these "incidents" I don't believe to be intentional, they are due to a lack of information regarding cars around them. So Kaz.... while I get what your doing.... it's making it worse....think bigger picture buddy.

A simple toggle option should exist for those who don't want it spoiling the interior view, or any other view for that matter, but you are 100% correct that the default rear view should exist in all views. I really want to be able to use cockpit view, but so many of the mirrors are out of my sight line. Maybe if the VR was more useful it would make sense, but as is, it's self defeating.

I believe this is one of the reasons people are getting into so many accidents. In 3 out of the 4 views, you simply can't see what's going on around you. For the cockpit, you're also blinded to the sides because you can't turn your head (yes, I know there's an option for that, but it's pretty crappy). in hood cam and chase cam, you can't see what's going on behind you. Someone can be right on your bumper, and you're none the wiser unless you check behind you.

Heck, I've made mistakes just taking my eyes off the road to check the gap. I'd be in the wall if I had to use their rear cam button.

To each his own, but PD isn't helping the online play with the rear view limitation.

Had a go at Race B, well 3 goes in fact! :D

Race 1 finished 8th from no qualy time, race 2 got 2nd place after a good 5 lap fight, and then got a win in the 3rd race!

Good to see Prince Andrew back again (right behind me at the green light) in one of my races, he's a busy boy now! :D

Edit: Currently on a 1:29.9 qualy time, still more to get!

Two races at tsukuba this morning before going in to work early. It's a nice little combo, car feels a bit better than i remember last time it was here. I think we had it here before...

Set a time of 05.9xx waiting for the first race to start. @Mc_Yavel was in both races, great racing this morning sir. First race had a bit more contact and position changing but was not dirty and all in all an enjoyable race. Race two was yavel and i out front. He got me for the win as i was still a bit sleepy/sloppy and gave him more than a few opportunities. Well done and a great race my friend.

Man, I can’t wait to hit up Le Mans tonight!! I love this race!! :D
I'm gonna do a couple of them before work this morning. I'm about to do the next one. I'm gonna try it first with the group C Porsche.
Not gonna qualify until Thursday, at the earliest.
As I said before, I managed to get my alt account down to D/S last week (629), so I should be having some fairly easy races to start with, then it will be getting tougher as the week goes on.
Hoping to tack on 30k and have it back to A by the time the week's over.

Inspired by Sven. #blamesven 👍

First race at Sarthe went well, third place finish, no incidents. I had to take a 0.5 sec wide penalty to avoid a car braking too late but better than ending up in the sand. No CRB.

Second race went bad. A fellow 962C driver hit me, then the wall, I get 4 sec penalty, he drives off. Nu uh, not doing that. I made sure he was not getting far. Since he pitted I was right at him again after serving the penalties. We both timed out for the finish at the back of the field. He started typing something but got cursed at already by someone else, so he left. Educational toll: SR.B (62). Fine, plenty room to check how much SR race C is worth this week. Not that there was any fair matchmaking in SR.S anyway. 3:20 TS050s on pole. With 1.5 weeks to practice in advance on a recycled race, times are already razor sharp early monday morning, and even though I just reached DR.B again, matched with the fastest anyway.

@sturk0167 DR.D won't help you :/ In the morning SR.S will get you matched with the fastest no matter your DR.

Nvm, you got stuck with us dirty drivers :) Fun race!

Has something changed in the game physics since we last had this race C? I can't get within a second of my optimal time in the Audi from back then, it feels quicker down the straights but the front end feels worse in the corners.

Here is my qualifying lap, aside from almost spinning on the bollard I doubt I can do much better:

I haven't tried a race yet but will get the Toyota back out for those.

I’m a big proponent of cockpit view. No problems racing clean. The mirrors often do look, if you just sit there as if they are useless, but you gotta try racing with them. They will make more sense after a bit of use on track.
To me the sole disadvantage of cockpit is switching cars. Many of the cars have a rear view camera.
I tend to disagree with 90 percent of the comments about cockpit view. I think it’s absolutely the best, the only thing tough can be switching cars. The absolute most visibility forward and to sides is chase. Bumper is less fog than cockpit or roof. Test it. Park at a fixed point on track and toggle views.
Diff cockpits have diff strengths and weaknesses, but a rear view mirror and a side view mirror is better than just a single rear view.
I’m sure people will argue the point, but park a say corvette gr4 in a fixed location and toggle views, then you can see the difference.
Plus cockpit gives the most visual feedback about the car...
Jmo ymmv

I seem to remember the R18 being quicker when shifting at 50% of the bar. That might gain a few tenths.

The Circus is in town, the killa clowns abound....Yes folks, a new week and the big top is up in the French place. So first race of the week, qualified with the Jag. Monday generally treats me well because people are getting used to a new track and haven't had the whole week to qualify (looks @Pigems ). Was still a surprise starting P6/18 as a newly minted DR/C (well, ok, it's just a visit. probably be back to D next week :p). Turns out I was the pole sitter for DR/C, everyone below me was DR/C or D, pole was an A, P2 was S, and the other 4 were DR/B.

Well, I didn't expect to finish P6, since I was fuel saving with the big cat, and as I recall, it's a thirsty beast. So race starts between chicanes ....*again* . I'm kinda getting a bit 🤬 over all the starts just before or in the middle of a 🤬 chicane . So, with me short shifting I had a car pass me before the chicane, and another get overlap just at the begining. I slowed right down and was able to pull over enough to let them through. It's like the first frigging choke point of the first lap.. I see no point fighting for it .

The race progresses and I'm a bit slow rounding Tertre Rouge, so the guy behind me started to overtake. I pulled over to the right to give him room, he pulls up neck and neck, then disappears behind me as 5th gear kicks in . Bit clumsy on the chicanes first time through, but kept it outta the sand and moving forward. Things were going reasonably well and was fairly settled, then lap 3 I think it was had me in the draft of the Australian who started on the grid behind me. My braking point was early, but not early enough. He was driving the 787B, so his brakes weren't the greatest either. I knocked him into the sand at the end of Mulsanne :nervous:. I pulled over and crawled along waiting for him to re-gain position, I was like only half on the road to the right, and he rammed me. Shrug, got me going again and that was the last I saw of him. I haven't looked at the replay, so I don't know if his post race comment "dirty" was aimed at me or if he had more mishaps from the back field .

Anyhoo, I kept on going and managed to gain a position or two from pitters, then lost them later from being conservative for plain old fashioned stuffing up. "Did you have a blow out in your sneaker like everyone says, or did you just 🤬 up?"..."No Darryl, I just 🤬 up". When I crossed the line and it said "Final lap", I still had 1.3 laps of fuel left. I proceeded as I had been and had the red light flashing comming through Porsche. I got through the final chicane and had just got to the wall on the left of the start/finish strait... meters away from the finish line...and the race timed out . I finished P8, which I don't think is a bad result :dopey:.

SR went up to 99, DR went up 300+. Day 2 wandering the wasteland of DR/C :dopey:.

I seem to remember the R18 being quicker when shifting at 50% of the bar. That might gain a few tenths.
I tried shifting before and after getting into the rev limiter and it didn't seem to make any difference, haven't tried as early as half way up the bar yet though so I'll give that a go next attempt.
I'm starting to think that if all the time loss is in the corners it might just be track limits being tightened up (I probably shouldn't admit to that but I can't remember ever being given softer tyres for this track).

After watching the replay, I don't feel sorry for the guy I knocked off any more. Turned out I passed him before the second chicane on Mulsanne. He knocked me into the sand at the chicane, then I tapped him at the corner at the end, unintentionally. The shunt I got from him after was very clearly deliberate. After that he self destructed, and most of what happened was all him. Looking at some of the movement, I get the impression he was using the pad rather than the analogue sticks.

Another week of recycled Daily Races. :(
Hopefully, someone at Monaco told Kaz to make Daily Races diverse again.

Pretty sure he was told before. As you can see, little to no impact on diversity.

I can't understand why we don't have the track and car variety that were at the recent Championships and those before it. Gr.2 Monza, SF Spa (rain) and X2019 at Interlagos. All looked fun and none have ever featured in daily races. Why not have those for A, B and C this week?

PD can create interesting and new combos but it never comes to fruition in the dailies. It's nonsensical.

E: I guessed correct for Race A's car. I'll be expecting my DR reward. ;)

Good to see Prince Andrew back again (right behind me at the green light) in one of my races, he's a busy boy now! :D

When that many people who are above the law see an opportunity to take action, why would you not? Let's face it, the people that had reason to kill Epstein weren't exactly the type of people that can plant a flag on moral high ground.

I saw something really great the other day, I will paraphrase slightly.

Strong people create good times
Good times create weak people
Weak people create bad times <---- We are here
Bad times create strong people

This is going to be a tricky week. After a series of races being pushed about link ping pong ball by green flagged impatient types and then my DS4 dying mid race, my SR has dropped to an alarming level and i feel a reset coming on.

I am pretty quick at the RBR compared to other tracks so i will be tempted to race but will HAVE to sit back and avoid all contact for what, 4 or 5 races?

Going to be very difficult given i will likely have the pace to battle for wins.

The problem with RBR is that it's an advanced track and, as we've been discussing this week, most folks are below the level of novice. It's a terrible track for Race B.

I've been saying this since the launch of the game, but i REEEAAAALLLLY hope there is an online multiplayer aspect to the career mode races. Tracks like RBR should be reserved for longer races.

Gave race B a stab. Did a 1:29.946 in the RSR, put qualified by a Huracan, just impossible to get past unless they really mess up.

The Huracans speed advantage makes up for little errors, but it’s slippery.

2 great races against A+, we were within a second each race but I just couldn’t get past. This track/car combo really needs more laps, and tire wear. It’s not a easy track to pass cleanly, so more laps or tire wear would help make it more fun IMO.

I feel like we had the option of Mediums last time for some reason? I’ll check my old replays on YT to find out.

Edit: Hards from 5 months ago. :)

Interesting, I was still using TCS then, I haven’t touched the stuff in months now. :D

Red Bull Ring is advanced? You can count the corners on your hands and you can count the variety of corners on ONE hand! You've got some tight right handers, slightly less tight right handers, oh and a surprise left turn in the middle to change it up.

I got up a bit early this morning, so I could do some Lemans racing before work. I'm glad I did. Most fun I've had on the track in a long time.
I did 3 races from the back (Sven was there all 3 times), and used 3 different cars. @Groundfish don't qualify on your alt account. It's a lot of fun racing from the back in this race.
I had a blast following Sven through the field. 👍
Here's a clip of lap 1 from the second race, where somehow I managed to make it from 15th to 6th before the end of lap 1.
Not that I did anything great, but people are just having a lot of trouble getting around the track.
Sven was ahead of me until the end of the lap when something happened to him. He was ghosted when I went by.
@Sven Jurgens your car has little bits of lag from time to time.

Porsche 962C was the best all-around car, that I tried.
Be careful out there, fellas. That first lap is full of danger. :scared:

*Full disclosure: I ran into Sven's car about 3 times this morning. :guilty:

It's advanced in the sense that you have to be smarter than a neanderthal to figure out when to brake so you don't pile into everyone else trying to go through the corner.

Predictably most drivers in Sport Mode can't figure it out.

It has happened. 10,000 races milestone reached. Time for some statistics.
3rgVLCC.jpg

The 10,000 race was pretty uneventful. I finished 9th on the mountain in the Lexus. CRB, safe at 99 SR.

The amount of races I finished is different in game and on KP:
9,581 (game) / 9,593 (KP) races finished out of 10,000, 96% completion rate.
Just over 400 races unfinished due to random disconnects either by the GTS server, my crappy ISP or a total power failure, impatiently switching to the next race (quit to enter the other race with 1 minute to go), missing the start and getting timed out, pausing too long to answer the door / phone, simply quitting a hopeless room or quitting to lower DR.

Total days raced: 711 (including today)

Average SR: 94.1
SR S: 652 (91.7%)
SR A: 21 (2.95%)
SR B: 31 (4.36%)
SR C: 7 (0.98%)

Average DR: 28,307
DR A+: 7 (0.98%)
DR A: 339 (47.7%)
DR B: 304 (42.8%)
DR C: 25 (3.52%)
DR D: 35 (4.82%)

Autopolis is a stain, just like BB raceway and Miyabi. I can't remember the last time Miyabi was on. I've had 44 races there and apparently the only track I can qualify better on than race. (Never raced it without qualifying)

On to the next 10,000

I'll be racing this on Sarthe tomorrow, see you all there!

Back to the mountain, but first breakfast. Totally forgot in that last push to reach 10,000 races :)

Unreal. Seriously impressive man. Congrats on making it to 10k. You've driven around the Earth 4x now.
