Well, I went in country for the last time this year...Twice...I invaded Brazil with my brilliantly liveried blue sparkly and yellow hooker themed Atenza. It looked glorious.
Unfortunately, with my qual being 32 flat I was unable to catch the a plus pack. Second race I stayed with their draft and finished fourth on their bumper, but the first one a BMW attacked t1 which caused me to lose draft.
All in all my assault on Brazil was nice and clean.
It’s just too bad that a bunch of morons were in the back effing up a friend...Never good to see that, but it does happen in Brazil...Those guys were idiots, saw the second replay you had track position they drove like ramming dweebs...You had them if not for the bs penalty, that one guy put himself off and it gives you a pen? I call bs on the pen system.
Oh well, called one guy an idiot so I have that going for me. 2 crb, overtaken t1 race 1 and leaders got away that race. Second race I had front row seats to some battling between the a plus folks, all in all...

I am several ligations deep. Time to watch a replay and ring in the New Year!

Cheers

Well we on "The Big Island" are living in a state that's on fire. Been waking up to the smell of smoke every morning for over a month, and most days you can't see the sun. You think it's overcast, but it's not clouds in the sky .
Yep. At my work beginning of last month. Looked like the sands(rust)storm from some years back, but it's smoke.

I was wondering who that was! I raced 2 races at Interlagos, and both were awful. My driving in the Mustang wasn't great, but I got in it because it's usually good for passing. I got in a couple of laps, pre-race, and did some mid to high 33's so I figured I'd be okay, but the pushing and bumping was brutal, and honestly, I didn't think my time would grid me back that far. Welcome to A/S racing! Switched to C and GR2. Set another slow time in the warmup, got in another pack of bump passers, and got a bit wide in T5 early in the race, so the guy behind, seeing he wasn't close enough to take advantage, pulled a pit against my rear quarter and spun me, as I was already hard on the gas after squaring it off. Last place, 9 seconds back. Tried C once more. Same thing. Almost shut down the PS4, but saw that the A race started in 3, so I entered. Started 2nd, finished 4th. Lots of bumping and pushing people sideways to get by. I did get the CRB in that one. One more time saw me on pole, slammed into the wall on the exit of T1 and ended up in 5th, clawed back to 2nd on L2, and couldnt find a clean way past. Thought I had it with a good run coming onto the final straight before the pit hairpin, and the leader completely blew the s curve, pinballed off both sides right in front of me, and buried me in the wall. No idea why he didn't ghost. I was lucky to hold on to second, and somehow neither of us got a penalty.

Long story...well...long;), I dropped over 3k DR in 6 races, and am back to B. My S is at 93. I should get some better grids, and (I hope) better class of competitors tomorrow.

Happy new year all!

Race C is getting absolutely filthy. Got punted 3 times. I got the penalty for 2 of those and 1 was a no penalty. I also got 7 seconds for someone who tried a last second block when I was already beside him and crashed himself. Sacrificing major DR, but that isn't a problem, it is all the blue S ratings after the carnage I watch that seems totally wrong.

Edit: had 2 more tries. 1 where I dodged a divebomb so survived lap 1. When we crossed the penalty line I suddenly had a 3 sec gap to the cars behind due to the mayhem. Next race, got punted twice in lap 1, but was only seeing 1 person get a 1 sec penalty for it. I didnt get reset as I ended up sideways on the track and had to reverse and straighten the car out. Guess who went from 8th to 17th at that point. Then when passing lots of the side taps to push people off or get penalties to me. It is turning into total BS. It is a shame because I had a couple of really good clean battles, some multi lap with polite drivers. I won a couple and lost a couple, but they were clean. Just a shame we end up surrounded by people playing a demolition derby. This race is worse even than any I have dealt with yet.

You will have seen from my other post re the penalty system that I am very new to this and, to be honest, saddened by the flaws in the game, which prevent serious clean drivers progressing.

I was so pleased to read the post above from Redneckchef, as I was under the impression that I alone was being singled out for bombardment.

I've been online for less that a week (one month subscription bought as Xmas present) and I'm questioning whether to renew because the testosterone fuelled kids are really starting to annoy me. The trouble is that I really enjoy the competition, even though I've no chance competing with the top drivers. My aim is purely to improve my skills and not to the detriment of others.

Is any of this fed back to the game designers? Forgive me, I'm so new to all this.

The staff of this forum assure us that the game developers do read what's posted here.
Also, this is the absolute worst time for bad driving. There's a whole bunch of new christmas presents on the internet and it's vacation for school students in nearly all cultures. In a few weeks, day time and late evening racing will improve a great deal. Unfortunately, late afternoon, early evening and weekends are always a bit sad.

Many thanks for the information - very useful.

I was thinking of throwing in the towel, but following your post I may reconsider and not let the morons win.

I’ve had a couple days off work, so I’ve put a little bit of time into race C. I was stuck on a 1.30.250 for a while, then bit the bullet and “upgraded” from a 2016 GT-R to the 2008 model.

Spent a bit of time on a retro inspired livery, jumped into a session 10 minutes prior to the race start and hit a 1.30.136 just before matching began.

Started on pole, bit hairy through the first corner but managed to drive clear, pitted for hards on lap 7 (to avoid dropping into the late pitting traffic) then brought it home for my 6th ever victory and a long awaited upgrade to class A! :D

Went straight into the next race, and it was a near direct copy. Pole position, broke free then brought it home. Funnily enough, total times at the end of both races were 20:18:xxx. I’m now 7 wins from 158 starts... but I’m 2 from 2 in 2020

Gotta say, if you’ve been weighing up getting the ‘08 GT-R, it is a far better car for this event. A lot more stable and forgiving which is a huge advantage toward the end of tire life.

It’s also better on corner exit and inspires confidence for quicker laps. I’m certain with some more qualy laps I could get it into the 1.29.8s, which is nearly half a second quicker then the newer car. 👍

Granted, it can be a battlefield out there. At the lower levels, it's not so much dirty drivers, it's just a lack of experience dealing with people rather than the AI. At higher levels it's a combination of some dirty drivers and some that are just a bit too keen to try for a pass that was never an option.

If your only goal is to hunt for trophys, then yeh, you need Sport mode, but if it's just about the racing, then there are many lobbies with clean racing. If you look in the GTS Online Racing & Leagues sub forum, you will find several hosted by members of this community. A good place to start is @Pigems "Daily races with friends" lobby held once a week. That gets you started in a casual environment. From there you can spread out to some of the other lobbies. The skills you pick up from racing in that environment can then be used in the daily races to help avoid some of the frustration at least :).

Many thanks - is that in the Lobby?

I did try the lobby at first, but found that some races had only one or two players and one that I did join eventually ended half way through!

@Pigems lobby is usually held once a week, Friday nights starting at 9pm EST. It starts off with each of that weeks daily races twice, then 3 bonus races. The bonus races can be a little goofy, but that keeps it interesting ;). If you look in the Sub forum, you will see threads for many different race series and events. Some of the people here also host special events, like @Mistah_MCA 's 90 laps of Leguna Seca in Gr2 cars this morning.

For lobbies to work really well you need to make some friends. And this is a great place to do so. The vast majority of players here want what you want, clean races. So start adding us to your psn as friends, we will likely all welcome a new friend that will race clean.

Thanks for the info. Being a novice, it would be great if someone could explain briefly how to add the group etc.
Cheers.
Ok, you can use the PS4 or the PlayStation app for this. On the PS4 you go to friends, then search for a psn account. You can use mine to try it out, it's Resident_Knievel
Then send a friend request once you found my profile. I will accept and then you can look at my friends for more to add.
What time zone are you in?

Edit: under known players in the friend part YouCan see the people you have raced with. If anyone was clean and friendly you can send them a request too.
I,like you, got the game for Christmas last year. I'm 55, and uses a controller for the same reason as you :)
Welcome to the game, GTplanet and the community.

Happy New Years fellas. Excuse my sap for a minute. I’ve only been playing GT for around 6 months now, but it very quickly became the most enjoyable gaming experience I’ve had. Incredibly frustrating at times, but the highs are so worth the struggles along with racing alongside all you wonderful people. A year ago I wouldn’t have thought I’d end this year spending most of my game time on a PS4 behind a wheel, but here we are.

Highlights:
  • Going to the NYC World Tour and seeing Fraga and Hizail duke it out, getting my steelbook signed by Kaz, and meeting @F4H Super GT; the guy who convinced me to dive into GTS in the first place
  • Participating in my first endurance race with @Bivittavus88 multi-class event at Catalunya
  • Joining an actual team with some of the amazing people here. Go TPC!
  • Reaching my goal of advancing to DR A and maintaining it
Here’s to another year with y’all. I can’t wait to see what 2020 will bring to GTS and the racing we’ll experience.

Hi guys, been reading this thread for a few months and thought I’d finally say hi and thanks. Reading your suggestions helped me get to DR A just before Christmas.

I then did my first all A,A+/S race C yesterday and it was the dirtiest race I’ve been in for ages. Divebombs, punts, stupid barging. Thought I’ll go back to Dr B/S if that continues - was much more enjoyable. Hopefully it’s just the holiday season and next week will be a bit more normal.

Anyway - happy new year and hope to race some of you guys soon.

The Pit Crew -a team originating in the Daily Races With Friends. Drivers in all DR brackets who aim to have fun and enjoy GTS, together and out in the dailies.

Edit: it's likely @sturk0167 s fault

@Jagman XK8 Welcome! :gtpflag:
Glad my venting was of some comfort to you. The sport mode is going to frustrate you and entertain you but always a different adventure. As a pretty much B/S rated driver I can say daily race matchings will have aggressive and dirty drivers at times but then you get a beautiful race with good people and you want to do it again.
Shout out to Nintaka for a fantastic 4 lap battle last night. They even apologized at the end because I spun while they were super close and thought they had done it. But only got my tires in the curb, ended up recovering anyway.
Drivers like that keep you coming back.

Definitely find some like minded friends to race with as well. I was all over the place, but talking to people in here and reading up improved me greatly to where I had a brief shot at an A rating after a couple of favorable race combos. The lobby races with others are also good as you know that it doesn't affect any ratings and that pretty much all contact there is mistakes as we all want clean racing.

Keep it up and you'll find your way to have the most fun. I am only just learning to dig into the livery editor to enjoy the game when I don't feel any of the dailies.

@05XR8
Awesome moses effect for the win!
