It is just a road car, no where near the grip of event group 4 car, still can be loads of fun to race though.

Oh I know, I used to love road cars when I first started GTS. But since I’ve finally gotten used to race cars, they just seem to drive like crap. I guess I like race car grip now?

Got it down to a 2:42.1 so far, BB-1. I’m trying to upload the lap to YT, but YT seems to be slow today, even my stream from last night isn’t showing up on my page yet.

Question: Why don’t modern sports cars have more downforce?

I race with dualshock and manual.
Everywhere is sold out of wheels online so I haven't been able to get one.
!!! I just went and looked online. I got my wheel for $150. It's now going for over $250. Quarantine supply and demand? Here's hoping it comes back down soon. Pretty sure this forum is full of people who could lap me with a dualshock. I had to get a wheel though. The whole reason I got back into racing was to relive childhood arcade cabinet races.

I really like the Supra - it's got a great balance and decent traction.

Frustrating though - best lap is a 2'42.3, but optimum is a 2'41.3... T1 & T2 are fine... T3 is killing me.

That’s one slippery pig. The 2019 Supra.
I need much more practice. The ass end keeps wanting to come around. Any hints?

I know there are people faster than me that are still on controllers,
but I'm not sure how much more time I can find without swapping to a wheel.

Whenever your able to get a decent wheels setup. (G29 t300) suggest definitely get one when you can. I used to love racing games. This is the next level and you’ll love it.

On exits? It’s very short geared, so you can go a gear higher a lot of the time - use 4th instead of 3rd for example.

But overall it’s like anything else - the less steering angle you have the more throttle you can use.. so main thing is to control your mid corner speed so you’re not understeering. Then you’ll be able to use more throttle without losing traction.

e hard braking zones at Fuji, but again it was the finesse of Coca Cola, Hairpin, and Netz that had me a second or two off pace. The turns that end up being a lift-turn-scrub-coast-gas become lift-turn-scrub-scrub-more-wtf-why-am-i-not-turning-in-coast-get-punted-rage-quit. I get it though, too much brake and you overload the front tires and understeer, but there is literally no feedback to how much brake you need

I might get flamed for this comment, but if you use a good size screen cockpit view offers much more visual feedback regarding the cars rotation, it’s also in the ffb but it’s very subtle and it’s simply difficult sometimes because line, you gotta be in a good spot camber wise, plus speed control plus car balance (precise inputs). Make no mistake it’s not easy.
Anyways the cockpit view if you have a big enough screen really helps with the issues you described imo.
As always JMO YMMV

Happy Monday folks!

I'm also on the G29. I replaced the spring of the brake and removed the rubber stopper. I tried to get used to the empty space, caused by it.
That didn't work for me, so I placed a piece of wood in the pedal. Now the braking is fine. What's left is the non-lineair braking and we can't change that unfortunately.

Speaking about the G29: the throttle pedal is giving me loads of problems. Every few days I have to disassemble the whole pedal unit.
Just to blow into the potmeter of the throttle. I already switched it with the clutch pedal, but the problem is still coming back.
Here you can see the problem:

And entry. Playing around with bias no other driver aids besides the abs. Can’t decide weak or default. Guess I gotta go slower to get faster with this one.

Probably because it would make for crap fuel economy. Modern sports cars are first and foremost for people to use in their everyday lives, just to look and sound cooler than your average family car. I'm sure 99.9% of modern sports car don't ever go anywhere near a track.
I think you are correct in that assumption. There are exceptions to the rule though.
The car I would buy should I win the lottery: https://www.bac-mono.com/

Edit: added bonus, you get some alone-time

Here you can see the problem:

I had an issue with my accelerator (and brake) "spiking". I was only able to fix it by taking the actual potentioameter apart and cleaning it with cotton buds.

It's fiddly AF but perfectly doable. I used the below video to help. Pedals have been perfect since I did this.

Stay in higher gears to avoid wheel spin and to keep rolling resistance low, brake early and be easy with the throttle on the exits. I was at BB-1 for this lap, always ABS Default unless it’s Karts, 2:42.1 so far. :)

Question: Why don’t modern sports cars have more downforce?

Modern sports cars don't have more downforce because mainly they don't need it and they have to fit in the road and meet pedestrian safety requirements which impacts the overall shape of the vehicle.

That may be in my future . Anybody tried one?

Also using G29 and the brake pedal and the inconsistency made me modify it :) I was having the same problems, I'm applying the same pressure during qualifying and I'm getting used to a certain muscle memory needed to make the brake bar fill up to 100%, but then if due to some reason I slam on the brake, then the braking force is recalibrated and there is a "new" 100% equal to the last force I applied - needless to say that this caused chaos on my braking points - so long story short, I just removed the rubber from the braking pedal and put a wooden piece with around 1mm shorter of the rubber one to compensate - now I know that when i press the pedal at 100% - it is 100% and no mater how hard I slam on the brakes I'm always hitting the wooden piece and not the stupid rubber which shrinks and allows the inconsistency.
I tried removing the rubber, but the dead zone was too much. Ended up shaving 1-2mm off the rubber so I get 100% when I touch it, and got used to it that way. I'd say I never compress it, unless I get into a hairpin hot, with traffic, and am about to plow into the pack...you know, the OMG this isn't good panic braking.

Also g29. What ffb settings are you liking and do you use abs weak or default?
Been useing high sensitivity, low FF with Default, though I haven't tried weak since early in my racing career. Probably should give it another shot.

On another note, did some laps at yamamiyabaguchi and got into the 17's with the beetle. I still don't really know the track yet, end up finding myself looking up at the track map to see what's coming. I turned on Lester's ghost and did one lap behind him. Seemed to keep him within a second until the last sector. Dropped my time by a little, saw what I posted and figured it was a sign for me to quit and eat something, so as of now, I have a 17.702 on the boards. 16's shouldn't be a problem once I get the track down, but I have a feeling that 13's will be seen by the fast guys. We'll see.

Sooo, the Supra is a piece of Junk. You have to use brakes at Eau Rouge.

I'm just lifting off and then letting the revs drop to 5th gear before I start feeding more throttle in. But yeah, it's not flat out. The car is a bit twitchy on the oversteer and it likes to slide out, out of every turn. I saw a lot of heavy-footed drivers throw themselves off of the track with the whip back that the car gave them. I don't see how this advertises the car well.

Last week was pretty productive and fun in my GTSport 'career'. Managed to recover ~some~ of the damage done to my DR by the Monza debacles, bumped my K' Speed rating up a bit with better than target times for all three daily races for the first time, placed 2nd in my first FIA manufactuer's series race, along with a fun and decent showing in the Karts and Supra Cup races, and found this good group on the forum to learn more from. Got a new plan to take it slower and only milk Dailies when I know I'm in good shape to add points, slow and sure on the way to A or better lobbies instead of trying to barge in there. I really like the Kyoto Park track, so curious to make a go of that one, in addition to the upcoming Mfr's race at Red Bull Ring (a place I've been to IRL, which is cool).

I've always avoided that. I can be a very long run to get the range good again.
So, no input is 0% and full input is 100%.

Dang that was a clean lap. Definitely learned a few things. Can’t wait to see how it all goes when I put in a few or 100 laps today

...caught that ABS remark about the Karts... what is the recommended ABS setting there?

Always default ABS. Leave BB at 0 and focus on technique rather than trying to fix technique with BB!

Entry oversteer probably means you’re braking a bit too late.. front tyres slide because they can’t turn and brake, then when they eventually do grip it pulls the front in and the back slides.

Brake a bit earlier and focus on exit speed. Particularly important to come off the brakes smoothly. Sudden release of brake pressure unsettled the car.

Not sure if you’re on a wheel or pad. The supra will be tricky on a pad!

Sounds just about like my driving style. Always thinking I need more of the weight moved up front before turning. Oh and on a g29. Working on that trail braking. thanks for the help brotha much appreciated.

Kind of interesting that all three Daily Races this week are on relatively longer courses this week. No quickies like Race C last week or Sardegna in Teslas...

Average time over 2:30 per lap for most of us... Will require a little more commitment to practicing and qualifying, with the longer laps.

KYOTO DRIVING PARK - YAMAGIWA+MIYABI 02:14.484 (best time in NA)
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps 02:41.766
Alsace - Village 02:26.821

I removed the rubber block from the G29 brake pedal. It's a horror.
Same here, but I also swapped the spring with the one from the clutch pedal, as it's slightly stiffer. Works fine now.

Use WD-40 to clean potentioameter and area around it, worked for me.

No need to disamble it, too risky
I do that with mine too - lasts for about 6 months until it needs doing again. Nice easy fix, and sorts the problem out fine.

Start of the great DR giveaway this week
I've maintained a mid B for a few weeks and it's time to let it go and descend back to C, gracefully I hope :)
Kyoto combination is an enjoyable track for me. Alsace is a track that should be used more in dailies, I almost forgot how good it is
