Due to some people do not re-qualify makes me wonder if there is an extra benefit by not doing that or is just personal preference?

Most likely during the week people starts to improve pace, lap times, consistency and such. On the other hand others might re-qualify and potentially start on higher positions on the grid.
For me it has to do with the fact that qualifying is usually a rollercoaster of emotions for me... I spend quite a lot of time trying to get that perfect lap... So I go from "I can do this, come on I can do this" to "why am I so bad? I'm wasting my time here, I won't get that optimal"
Then I start questioning other decisions I've made in life....
So yeah, I mostly only qualify once because I don't want to deal with the emotions of qualifying...

This is exactly what I'm talking about. There's been debate about players jumping right in front and slamming on the brakes. Fast forward to the last lap.

From the start, the red RCZ was wild anyway. However, I was having a fair battle with the other ones. Plenty of hard clean racing. Players are holding their lines. Then, it happens. Why right then, the red car decides to jump right in front of me? I don't know. It got ahead and would get the run down T2.

Decided to dig up this older story.
I did not have right words to comment back then.
But watched this good video today, and I thought this might be helpful to share. It is not same thing but it is relevant. Look for laps when this gentleman is racing Belgian starting at 5:25

@Rosty_14 I also do those qualifying laps to serve like a warm up as well. They are good before a race to help just bed in my braking and turning markers and get my rhythm back. I don't go busting my self up trying to nail perfect laps unless I am really missing something somewhere, usually focused on getting consistent at my pace.

Example of doing extra qualifying was daily A early this week when I knew something was way off. Stepped out, watched a replay and went back in looking at a few different reference points and dropped 4 tenths. Didnt help in the race as I kept getting rumbled on the straight by the TTs and RCZs but it did mean I knew how to finally drive smoother and faster on a better line making me more confident and comfortable in the race.

One subjective question, just wondering your preference. For daily races, car/combo aside, for this exercise let’s assume the 3 daily races are good for your liking and somehow limited time during the week to play:

How you tend to break it down?
Decent amount of time doing Qualy and 1 daily per day (as many races you can do due to limited time) or you play 2 or even all the dailies if possible during same day/week?

At the moment since takes me a while to get an “average” QT (probably close or most often below) and/or get back to that similar pace for a new day, I just focus on one daily race per day. Last three weeks I only have played 2 out of 3 during the week, one per day.
I think this is my 3rd week in a row where I've only done Race A. Plus Nations Cup.

It's very rare I feel I can do all 3 in a week. Usually 2 out of 3.

Lately my senses have been off and when I think I have good time and confident, I suck. And when my time is meh and not sure I should be racing, I do OK. So whatever I'm doing is wrong. :)

Do any fellow controller players actually enjoy Autopolis?
I am struggling a lot... I can't keep the rear of the '16 GT-R composed and I've gone off track more times than I count... I don't remember it being this bad last time I tried it...
The only real difference is that now we're on hard tyres... It shouldn't make a such a big difference, should it?

Edit: changed to the 2016 Lexus... It seems I'm better with it... Gives me far more confidence
Controller here. Autopolis depends a lot on the car. Some cars I enjoy driving there, some I struggle with. Most of the FR cars are good, as are the more stable MR. I can manage the more docile FF (though I hate that drive layout on any track) but the slippier FF and twitchy MR cars are a no go zone for me at Autopolis.
I also struggle with Gr.1 cars there.

I find that once you get onto the hard tires there you end up playing 'the curbs are lava' to keep the car composed. Any type of sideways action or power acceleration while the wheels are on the curbs is the start of a trip in the spin cycle. It takes a slightly different line with feathering the throttle if you are crossing curbs to make it stick. That track is a tricky beast though.

That said I am ending the week on a losing high note. Had a great battle for 8 out of 10 laps on my NA account with a TT in daily C. I screwed up the hairpin after the COMI and let a pair through. The first one binned it and quit. Second one I could catch and get alongside, but either back out at the chicane or it would pull me down the straights. Last 3 laps I got a run, made a pass at the last hairpin. He got me back on the next run to the esses. I got him on the first hairpin last lap, he just gets beside me in the esses and carries it through side by side until I back out and readjust to get a run out of the next hairpin to just get his rear quarter but he powers ahead to the last chicane. He takes a wide line and i try my usual middle line, but i just nip the side of him getting his wheels on the dirt. He keeps it composed as I keep it slow for him to take the spot.

Back and forth for several laps mixing up the benefits and weaknesses of our cars (I was still in my WRX). Rather lose a clean one than win one being dirty. Made my night. Great race, great way to end the week.

Good racing to you all:cheers:👍

Oh, I know this.👍 I race this way. I always choose to not hold up players and also try to keep the flow. However, throughout the race, as I mentioned, the other RCZs were pretty fair. That move into T1, if anything, the RCZ could have waited until the exit of T1. It would have passed me on the straight to T2.

My move on the lead RCZ, was nearly similar, but the lead RCZ actually turned into me. That's where you can see I'm having to correct. There was plenty of room to the left for that RCZ. I wasn't unsettled due to me using the kerb.

Big difference is, as I'm moving over to left, I'm doing it slowly, not abruptly to "cut off" and not to block the red car behind(the Monza video even mentions it's best to be on the racing line into the turn). Instead, it clearly sees it as an opportunity to pass. The move at Monza, there was way more time to adjust and slow up for that turn. The red RCZ just jumps right in front in that small window. Again, holding the line, I knew I was being passed and I was not going to go two wide into T1. More patience by the red car, would have seen their outcome favorable.

I had ample opportunity to sample the new Mazda in qualifying for Race B, with my best effort being a 2:18.108. The car is planted in the high speed corners – it’s ridiculously easy to take Eau Rouge / Raidillon, the second part of Stavelot* and Blanchimont flat. Top end speed is good, corner exit is very good as well, which obviously goes well together. The car seems to be weaker on corner entry though, particularly while trail braking into slower corners with positive BB (very snappy) and through medium speed corners, where it’s quite happy to understeer. It took me a long time to figure out Pouhon, and still had the feeling that I was losing massive amounts of time. All in all it’s a very fun car, though, and a lovely addition to Gr. 3.

I tried the R8 for a short while after, and just managed to get unter the 2m18s barrier, which makes me roughly 0.5s quicker than when I last tried this combination in November. In comparison to the Mazda, the R8 is a lot harder to wrestle through Raidillon – I need way more steering lock and it almost feels like the car is skirting on the floor before it starts to turn. I also can’t quite get it to go flat through the second right-hander of Stavelot, I have to apply minimal lift to make it turn properly. The response through Pouhon is much better, though, and I think that’s what made most of the difference in the lap time, as, subjectively, the Mazda marginally edges the R8 on the rest of the lap.

Random observation: For anyone trying to get a decent top end speed down the Kemmel straight, I’d recommend leaving the R8 in 5th – in 6th the car just bogs down and barely goes any faster.

*Does that corner have an official name? Track map evidence on Google seems inconclusive.

Well i think im stuck on DR and Spa. Stuck at 28k. Just cant get a good result in the lobbys with A rated drivers. Got my quali to 2.18.8.. but optimum is 2.18.0.. Really just need 3ths to move up grid enough to end in good points but just cant get..

i haven't used the viper in a while but man it feels like a dumptruck on corner exit. just pushes wide so easily. can they even fix the viper? because i dont think weight and power buffs would fix that.

In my experience, the Viper likes a wild hand at the wheel. If you accelerate too early, it pushes. But, so do the Mustang & Corvette. The Viper Gr. 3 is tail happy under braking. especially when trailbraking. But, you can learn to anticipate that loose rear end & use it to your advantage.

So.. I love Spa. I'm not really as fast as I want to be but it's a nice track.

3 laps is simply stupid short though, and Race C should always include tactics IMHO.

So i hope next week features a good Race C

No stop at Race C again next week. :(

That Race B will be interesting. In the Manu race, all the cars were pretty much nose to tail with tyre wear. In my race, the stand outs seemed to be the M4 and TT(it was mid-pack, but surprised it held that position through the whole race). My Atenza surprised me with its cornering too. Thinking GR.4 may have a closer balance at this track.

I love Autopolis, but skipping it. Mazda don't have a GT500.

N300 looks like a JDM event. Hope so.

I am wondering about race A as well. Anything willow springs brings about carnage and off track excursions. Wondering if they've downtuned the KTM, or if it is another MTC race? Wouldnt be all bad as it looks like it could be fun, but like to try something else as well.

Race C on a Sunday night after midnight....
I enjoyed bar fights when I was a hormone driven, angst ridden teenage boy. But in a bar, not on a bloody race track!!

Most of those guys would have been black flagged for life, the races would have been red flagged and likely would Croatia plow the track and plant potatoes in the soil underneath. Or perhaps they would salt the earth...

I just wish it really was a real race so I could also slap a few heads....

Edit: first race I accidentally ran a TT wide in the 90° left leading to the last chicane. I stopped, waited and let him go before me.
In post race I apologise, and it turns out that our British driver knows the female anatomy in Swedish since he called me by the name of... Well, you get it.
Impressive language skills, not so impressive temper skills...
Entitled kids....

I am a little new to GTS, so take my time to learn the track. Monday is spend on qualifying/practice, and may be track experience. I like to figure out the track as much as I can on my own. Then Tuesday I run a few races to see how I stack up against the field, then watch a few videos to understand the track a bit better, followed by qualifying. Wednesday onwards I try and get as many races I can. I do run a few more qualifying sessions later in the week, as I feel racing improves your understanding of the track.

It's a Specially Provided Car race, not open season on whatever's fastest in N300...

Decided to jump in for a couple of attempts at Race C, on my main account.

Three 2nd place starts.
Three 2nd place finishes.
All three behind GRT_RobC.
+1200DR.
99SR maintained.

This pops up in my YouTube notificatrions. Reminds me of combining DTG, DTS, Lago and Yamagiwa. Add Sainte Croix and Sardegna.

Entered some Race B's last night since I had been practising the Mazda RXV time trial around Spa.
Qualifying, couldn't get near my time trial time for a while so was stuck qualifying between 7th and 10th.
First race was a mess, getting penalties for understeering through raidillion, generally struggling to keep the Mazda under control and constantly under pressure from Supra's on the straights.
Picked up another corner cutting penalty on lap 3 (which would be rounded up to 1 second once I crossed the finish line). To add to this, coming into the Bus Stop chicane to finish the race, me and the Supra behind get dive-bombed by another supra who appears to have been too late on the brakes, I partially avoided but still picked up an SR down, then lost another position due to the half second penalty that I carried across the line and yes the divebomber got away with gaining two positions in one corner without repercussions.

The remaining races were all pretty fun. Being in the RXV meant I was constantly under fire from Supra's down the straights, but through the corners I seemed to be able to escape. I had a few races against one particular driver that were some of the best defensive drives I've had. Having to counter cut backs and protect the inside while the supra got its nose around the outside.

One particular race, the supra managed to pass me down Kemmel Straight. I thought that was race over from there as I was barely able to stick with him for the rest of the lap. Coming into the Bus Stop, he out brakes himself, runs wide and gives me an a gap down the inside of the first part of the chicane. Through the second part, we are side by side, but the RXV seems to be able to put the power down earlier than the Supra, so while he deals with wheel spin, I'm able to grab the place back just as we cross the line.

Also had a moment of three wide coming into Les Combe where I managed to come out on top so that was cool.
