Why can't more people race like this guy? The irony is we both got punted earlier in the race. The sad thing is after he overtook me half a lap later, he got punted by the next driver he tried to overtake.

I did 4 race B today, three of them with dirty drivers. Now I understand the frustration of get punted several times by mistake or on purpose, who knows. Really can ruin the fun with a limited time to play.

I went to try for the first time lobbies with random people, it is really slow and hard to find something. Sport mode is way better but so frustrating at the same time.
Probably lobbies were affected by upcoming maintenance scheduled for today, a few Network disconnections.

Possibly something that's been raised before. But I'd love to see SR calculated as a daily average.

Simply have a cumulative SR score and a daily counter. At the start of any day. Your SR score is based on that average.

Makes it a lot more challenging to improve your SR, but also means, that a someone who is generally SR99, shouldn't end up racing SR B gamers, because they had one bad day or race. On the flip side. Dirty drivers, would almost never see their SR climb up that high.

But I guess that's easier said than done.

Here's a couple of Monza starts from yesterday.

I dispute I was at fault for this one but whatever and the start was mental. The second is just bad from the driver, you shouldn't be allowed to be so careless and get away with it. :ouch:

SR used to rise and fall a lot slower than it does now. No idea why they changed it buts it’s not even worth having now.

Well R4M racing me certainly had some "experience" this week. Race C has been the ultimate carnage fest!

Started the week on 93 SR and as of today it's down to 38 points and is only the second time the account has dropped below SR S but I have only raced online 10 days overall and only 36 races over those 10 days.

It seems the game still loves to give penalties for driving through "ghost" cars as had a few instances where immediately after I get 2 or 3 seconds 'Colliding with another car', a real test of the tolerance levels, a good thing I have nothing else on the mind or needing done this week!

I really hope that "next week" has something fun because Sport really is full of R4M racers at the moment and somehow I just cannot see myself doing online racing in GT7 but knowing PD there is gonna be that trophy for some impossible number of wins, I still have faith I can get the 91 wins trophy for Sport but probably the biggest test of my gaming life at the moment since I can't remember when I last had a win...

The main thing is, gaining SR is way too easy, so although the worst offenders will stay in a loop of low SR, for smarter ones would only take one or two chilled race C to get back to 99.

Imho the daily average would be nice but we also need to make SR more difficult to gain and also make it count in the starting order regardless of the qualy time.

But in the same way, if you have a caused collision Sr penalty when someone spins out and you can't avoid their already spun car they hit the barrier and you get a big penalty
You get dropped into the Gulag races I call them now
But if you have another unlucky moment your looking at a reset which I don't think is right at all?
It ain't too easy to gain SR while racing legitimately as your always at risk of a tap and off track if your pushing it, if your smart with it it's not too and to stay clean

There is always a lot of talk of talk on here about people grinding out SR gains. If my SR is 95+ im matched with A+ drivers and start about 7th on the grid with no chance of winning. Guy on pole yesterday had 2 times in the top 10 of EMEA. Im not even an A rated driver and from what i see i dont care to be.
I found in B lobbys mistakes were made, in A if you make a small mistake then have to go denfensive for a few corners thats it your getting hit out the way. Ask why in chat, "you are to slow" Yesterday i was rammed off track on purpose T2 T3 T4 T5 of Autopolis. Guy waited for me everytime to do it again and again. I asked in chat what did i do. " Intentionally blocked me T1".. If i had to ask, its clearly not intentional. Think ill just quit my way back to mid B.

I'm just a B driver, so maybe my experience is different.

Anyway, at the beginning at week I was literally murdered in every single race, you know it's Monday, new races, big mess. So I start my week going down to SR 78.

Long story short, a couple more races in the past few days, I arrive this morning at Autopolis with a SR of 93 and did 3 races, all from the back.

First race, I avoid the mess, I get tapped couple of times, no biggie, I finish 10th. Second race, I get murdered in lap 2, finish dead last. Third race, I finish 9th and SR is back to 99.

All in all, it took me 7 or 8 races to go from 78 to 99 and bullets were fired at me several times in between

Just witnessed the most chaotic start so far at Monza, the top three drives all blamed one another and whilst they weren't entirely clean they might want to check the replay of the drivers behind and find out the real cause of the mess. ;)

I've uploaded it (A Monza start, 3) but will need to use a computer to add the video here, unless someone else fancies doing it, it's brilliantly bad and dirty. I avoided it all somehow and was 7th after the penalty zone.

Made another Top 5 finish in Race C. Went from P12 to P4 with a 1.5 second penalty included.

Key is to avoid unnecessary conflict and wait it out. For the last 4 laps I was 2 seconds behind 5th place. Both 4th and 5th place were having an intense and clean fight for the whole time and had each other’s slipstream. As a result they kept pulling ahead of me and I couldn’t catch up. BUT, I knew they’ll make a mistake. And they did. On the last lap they touched and took each other out, and I gained 2 places. Just like that.

I am losing SO MUCH TIME on corner entry, my qualy time is a 41.6 but cannot get into the 44s in the race. As soon as the tyres start to go the car slides on corner entry and I lose a TON of time. Simply cannot keep pace with anyone qualifying near my time.

In daily races i try to drive as it is my beloved wrx sti daily driver but in sport mode the penalty system is abused by dirty drivers.
I'm down to sr 3/99 and i don't really deserve it! I have been driving cars for almost 35 years and i know what i'm talkin about.

So, the Evo is proving quick at Autopolis in Race B.

I only just learned I could switch my ghost off in qualifying, so decided to give it a proper go. I managed to get it down to a 1:46.6 , I could probably go another 2 or 3 tenths quicker, but 20mins of qualifying is enough.
I looked at the leaderboard and even if I was a full 2 sec quicker I' still be 3 tenths off the leaderboard! I knew the top guys were quickbas I've used their ghosts to help me in the past, but this was he first time I really really tried qualifying and I am still miles off!

Try to brake or turn not both, the car is a twitchy death machine
So for the lesmos dab of brake then either ease it in or throw it in and straight back on the power because it's quite stable

Ascari you just want to be anticipating it rather than reacting to it, so focus on turning in and getting on the power to drive through the corner it's much more stable with power

Parabolica I brake between the last 2 boards and really gently turn in then get on the power and run out nice and wide
Take it easy on entry and focus on the exit as it's a long old straight

If you get your brake markers consistent then you can focus less on the marker and more on being smooth with your inputs

Also if you can work out how to do the chicane consistently your doing well, cos I'm on 40's in the race and I balls up the chicane every other lap haha

What about this: just remove the hard cap at 99 SR points, and adjust the SR penalties for contact and clean races a bit. 💡 People who try to drive clean will then just have a constantly increasing SR score (with small decreases when they screw up) and get matched together, while people who don't will slowly increase if at all. Would take a bit of re-calibration of the matchmaking algorithm but people would quickly get out of rammer hell.

Also, just give up with the "sportsmanship" thing, stop trying to assign blame for every incident, and make it a Safety Rating like every other online racing service. SR downs for off tracks and spins please.

Should we name and shame? Im torn on that. . Im sure ive done things wrong people could name and shame me for. Is this wany we want from GTplanet though? More negitives?

Tbf i am slow in on T1. If he says i blocked him maybe i just made him slow down. This could solved by matching on DR not SR. Looking at other SR charts on Kudos my SR average is way to high.

Edit.. Actually if anyone on here has been in a race with me and had any issues with my driving that i could learn from, please do let me know.

You can’t type someone’s name into your post, because then it’s searchable on Google. But, you can post a video or photo with the name in it, and you’re safe, because you can’t Google the name that way. :)

Best thing you can do is just watch your replays back. That way you have a 360 degree view of everything that happened in the race. It’s great for checking all aspects of your driving.
I wouldn’t worry about that 1 person. For all you know they may be having a real bad day and just lost there temper.
Onto the next one 👍.

So i just broke my own rule. Wanted to try out cockpit view in a race so I logged on my sons acc and did 2 race B from the back. Its a Dr C Sr B. I went last to 3rd on first lap twice in a row and didnt overtake a single car on track in either races.

As for cockpit view....wow that a whole differance type of experiance.. think i like it apart from the wiper. Id get my 13mm out and take that right off

That wiper is your friend if it’s raining. :sly:
Cockpit view takes getting use to but stay at it and you may like it.
I just recently went to it and to me it feels like you can tell what the car is doing alot better.
Messing with the two setting we get for “FOV” seems to help. Good luck

It's a lot of fun. I have to change the view though in cockpit all the way up and push the seat back lol
