So far I have been starting in p2-p8 all very close times but more often than not o get slammed off the track at T1 or T2 and not just on the start, it's fun fighting my way back through but it's killing my DR lol and I'm starting to get used to the car now lol

I hate going in cold turkey to a race with a new car, so I bought one and am practicing. Maybe I'll see you there some day.

Guide is out now! I'm still a little unsure whether I should break these down more so that they are more detailed. As in I could go a little more detailed and stop footage at brake markers but if I did that combined the video could end up being 40/50 minutes. If anyone has any ideas or wants anything changing let me know :)!

Have you tried watching other people on youtube who do guides? Mistah-MCA does FIA guides and they have a lap in them that doesn't take that much longer, even with braking points/more complex corners slowed down when they need a bit more explanation.

Just raced my 5th (or 6th) at Sarthe. Hat tip to RacingGranddpa. He said I would, and I did shoot up well into C level DR territory. It was that last race that did it. I was the only 'D' in the field, started last of 15, finished 9th. Would have been 8th but, a Brazilian had to have that one more spot, so he punted me on the last chicane.

@jimihemmy
Always a pleasure! Glad we found each other again later in the race and were able to help each other! We were so cautious of each other going into the turn after the straight, that I think we lost several second each time lmao!

I was in a party with some friends, prolly good you couldn’t hear me, I was just yelling JIMI!!!!! for most the race :D Good fun, I dont remember what happened in the carnage early on lol.
Have a habit of having a little rough go - my first lap or so :)

I think we did! I didn't want to bump you off and ruin both of our races so I was being extra cautious and hoping we could tag team our way back through the field. But as you said post race, next race, its on!

ive gone back too the 787B myself now that I’m comfortable with the track. If I don’t have a slip steam I can loose about 2 seconds or more on the long straight, but I’ve had slipstream most runs.

Lol check out my DR graph link in my sig, my inconsistency is super consistent. Lol quite the pattern has emerged, a telling story!

I am definitely going to try a race or two with the 787B. I guess I didn't realize how fast it was because it didn't like feel like it. Hopefully I will see you out there!

I've raced that French chap you mentioned (and tapped) a few times. I do not have nice things to say about him.

Ah, finally went back to Sport mode yesterday night for some good racing. And honestly, I'm quite glad I've found some good people who were like minded and were pretty clean... for the first lap, I guess.

Thing is, I feel like I've made a pretty serious breakthrough in my second push to the A - S rankings. Back with my first account, I was very quick as far as I remember, able to set good qualifying times within tenths of top 10 times for my region, but come race time, I would start on pole and reeeeally struggle on the pace. Even if I was running alone, I'd constantly be looking over my shoulder, changing brake balance, messing it up from nervousness, and losing DR, I bounced from DR B to DR A back down to B and back up to A :scared:. But now, I think that with the goal I've set myself, I will be ready to go up the rankings and stay there if I just give myself the mindset to be calm and rock solid. And it's working so far.

I did 5 instances of Race B tonight. I made sure that nothing of my body would interfere with my race performance (I tend to sneeze. A lot. 🤬 you, winter .), so I took a nice, long bath, made myself some hot tea, put up the heater and sat down to warm up before a race. I didn't match my qualifying time, but I came close to it, multiple times, setting low 1:32's. Thought that was good, and went onto the races.

My 10th win in Sport mode! The night was young, the night was very young, so I went again, multiple times. In all of my races, after the first lap, I put the hammer down and started setting constant low 1:32's after low 1:32's, never going over 1:32.600. Seriously, all of them were like that. Clinical moves. Cut throat business. Get in there Natalia kinda stuff :sly:.

I think the car helped a lot too. The Hyundai welcomed me with a bear hug, as it's easy to drive and grippy. Not the fastest down the straight, but I liked the consistency it gave me. I'll try another car to switch it up and see if I can maintain that consistency. I even broke my qualifying time in 2 races, and in one of them I ended up setting constant high 1:31's instead :D!

...and in the other one I got greedy with my fastest lap and tried to get it down further and got 🤬 for track limits with a 1 second penalty .

Anyway, win after win, after win, I made a friend who asked me how I was so quick. I added them on PSN so that they could compare my lap times and stuff so, kinda feel happy about that one. Now, the night was old (is that a saying? Dunno), so I decided to do one more and go to sleep. By this point, I had pushed well into B - S territory, and ended up with the 14th win to close off the night.

So this person said I was dirty for pushing them off after they overtook me. I saved the replay to show that you people should stay away from this guy because he doesn't know how to overtake, and also so I can ask the fast guys here if my pace, aside from being consistent, is good enough to go up and maintain an A - S rank, maybe even an A+ - S rank. Here's the video, please watch it and share your thoughts because I'd love to see how I was dirty by just holding my line and this guy pulling a Schumacher .

Congrats on the win.

Tip for winter from Canada. An electric blanket over a chair = heated car seat. :D

CRB for Race A is only 4 points. Minimal touch and a Red SR costs 6 points afaik. Tough race. Could get a 2nd and a 3rd podium finish. Need to go faster. Well at least i can drive this thing tcs0

edit: 5 consecutive clean races with the rarri despite starting in the middle of the field. All top 6 :D My wrist won't be healing soon it seems.

Still no clue how much a CRB is worth at Sarthe, seems impossible to get. Good racing with @Dairyworker but should have quit after that last one with you :) Next one I got hit 3 times, delivering me a penalty twice, down to SR.A. The race in SR.A went pretty well but still got bumped around, got to remember the only way to drive nowadays is to tightly hug the inside and you still might end up with their short cut penalty lol.

The 3 disconnects didn't help either, net result 77 SR left after this morning. Really PD, just turn the penalties off. They are 90% wrong. Either they don't trigger, give it to the wrong person or give out a penalty for no reason. Also 90% of the incidents are not malicious, either clumsy, over ambitious, or desperate to take the inside to avoid false penalties... Actually I haven't seen one intentional punt yet, no dive bombs either, just some ill executed out brake attempts and loss of control on corner exit. But I have seen rooms with mostly red ratings and some dropping as far as SR.B...

The quality of racing isn't as good as a year ago, but does feel a lot better than when I left (couple months ago). The penalty system keeps making things worse than they are. Plus the penalty zones are still a joke at Sarthe, even worse now. First one, massive time loss compared to the other two. Second one, big hazard right in the acceleration zone. Third one, even bigger hazard in the braking zone. Add inconsistent short cut penalties and all they do is create unnecessary accidents.

Thumbs up to the racers still daring to go into daily races.

Oh and @Dairyworker those lovely harmonies with two 787Bs next to each other! I was dreaming away at the sounds mixing together hence I went wide at Mulsanne in that earlier race lol. R92CP sounds like a tug boat next to a 787B.

@Tidgney does do more detailed lap guides in his ultimate track guide series. Definitely check those out.

Mad thanks to all those who do the track and race guides. I usually only have time to jump on and get 10 practice laps or so before I settle in so they are a massive help.👍

@Tidgney thanks as always for vids, the shifting tips are great in race C, great guidance Race A.
I’ve only done a handful of laps at Race B in the past so I’ll be sure to check out your guide!

BTW as I always give the benefit of a doubt (not that it’s wise, or merited) I think the German in your race C video had a different idea about what happened the first time you guys went through the chicanes.
So I believe when he was side by side there with you again, going into it, he decided to get the contact out before the chicane :)

I was goofing around early on b race qual.
NSX-great view from cockpit with the right hand drive. It’s very precise, a scalpel, but a slow scalpel in my hands...1-2 seconds off pace. The 911...It’s the 911, over one lap dangerous over several, questionable in my hands...
On to the WRX. I quite like this one for B race. Hit some nice sub 32 and over a few laps didn’t do anything weird and equaled my favorite (vette) on average time. In race tho I’ve no idea how it does, could be a liability on the front straight...
I tried the Viper also. It’s good, but over several laps couldn’t manage to beat my vet time and average time was off due to weirdness. It’ll pop out of load sometimes strangely if you don’t know it. It reminds me of the AMG relative to the vette-sharper on initial turn in, a touch stiffer but less forgiving, prone to popping out under load on the rear tires...
I KNOW the AMG can surpass vette in my hands over one lap, but on an average of several I’m still better in vette.
I went with Merc on manufacturers before and really had more success in mercs gr4 than 3.
I’m still sticking to vette so far this week.
I think tonight I’ll give the Aston’s a go and maybe the Mustang.
To me, I need a car that lets me race my competitors not the car itself. Stability, forgiveness, ease of use and power are what works for my park it on apex tight get a run out style for sport mode...
The mood for racing hadn’t struck as of yet, and I’ve done less than 8 laps qual at LeMans all week. Gotta be in the mood for that...
Ultimately, I know what I’m doing there, but without a LOT more time in I won’t hit near the low 31’s I see on the boards. I’m just not that precise or rather can’t carry speed well enough or a combination to approach pixel perfect :)

Tidge, thanks for all you do, you are a legend bro

The feeling when you load into race C, see your name on pole and then remembers that the car you are in are the 787b but the qualifying lap was set with the R92CP.... And you are 4 seconds slower a lap in the Mazda....
PS_Messages_20200714_211425.jpg

Got jumped by a brave Dane in a hybrid at the start, he obviously didn't get the memo on no chicanes.
Passed him a long way before Mulsanne.
A few laps in I and the British gentleman now in P2 (another 787b) where fighting cleanly. He got a better run out of Tertre Rouge every time and was close behind me at Mulsanne, then I would pull away in the twisted parts.
Then on lap 4 I ran off at Indianapolis and he took the lead by +4 seconds.
I now had a Russian player in a Nissan right behind me, he was in the Nissan version of the livery I made for the 787b. But braking into Indianapolis next lap he touched me and got a penalty.
On the last lap I was right behind the British driver and the slipstream down Les Hunaudiers allowed me to pull half a car length and the inside into Mulsanne so I got ahead.
At Arnage when I turn in he comes flying and we touch. I don't know if it was my fault.
But I pressed on and had my first win of the week.

Yeah. I just did 2 C races from the back. First race: I didn't try to race anybody hard. I just sorta cruised around and did my best to stay well away from other cars. Zero penalties, and did not get crb. SR gain was 21 (19->40).
Second race: I did exactly the same thing, and SR gain was 13.

The chicane-less Le Mans is brilliant, the cat got up at the start of lap 2 but because the straight is so long I had time to get up and walk to do the door to let her out (whilst holding the R2 button down, yeah try doing that on your fancy steering wheels!). There is no other track on the game where you can go for a mid-race walk and still win !

SR took a bit of a hit at Le Mans last night, managed to gain a few good positions and even a race win, 16th of my 'career' yay.
Had a few TS050's in the mix & their pilots are pulling it off sometimes, 2nd to my 3rd & 1 with a win, respect to them

As I have done a couple more race Cs I am still seeing the hybrids in there. However most are only gaining when there is chaos or lots of penalties. The LM55 is the real spanner in the works as it seems to be able to keep the slipstream on the straight long enough to be there to give you trouble on the curves.

Did have a 919 in my first race just at 1 second ahead through tertre rouge lap 1, by the time I hit mulsanne in my 962 I had over 3 seconds on them.

Then they binned it.

Ahhhh, I've never raced them, but was my mistake in that race which is why I let the continue :)!

Wow Tig, I didn't think you ever got un-nerved. Justified

It takes a lot, as I say 3 strikes usually is then at the point where someone is just taking the mick. Last time I had that was 2018 I think, but I also don't like to hide it, I'd rather show I'm human :)!

I have watched some ye, I go into detail with the more detailed track guide stuff so I'm like after a middle ground, I'll look into it a bit more for sure then :)!

Ha. That guy...smh.
For myself, he deserved to have you take that inside, last week on Catalunya I had a similar scenario except the guy I passed full throttle punted me into the sand, then I caught him and we exchanged pleasantries...
To me, if a person is cheating, what I do is punt them into one of my preselected locations hard enough such that they will be reset, and I may lose positions while serving the pen but they won’t catch if I don’t make mistakes, because they will be losing more than my little 2 second penalty.
I’ve found that it’s like poker. If you start with a little bump or nudge or whatever then it grows into a dirty battle sideswiping etc most times you lose out overall.
To me it’s this-drive best you can to be clean, if someone is cheating you have to decide. Is it worth it to do anything? If it is then get it over with quickly by pressing the button and going nuclear. (just don’t screw it up-and don’t let them know it’s coming :))
All that said in actual practice if someone’s close enough behind me to potentially do a dive I ensure to make my approach tighter than theirs so they don’t have the angle. Going way out to in with someone close behind is a no go situation.

Yeah but that dive bomb came as a surprise; I focus on my own line and then look at the gaps whenever I can. I'm practicing to not use the look back button and relying on instinct, so as to feel less pressured.

Also the radar is kinda 🤬, way too zoomed in to be useful in a situation like that.

In regards to ramming someone off, it is something I won't do unless I'm majorly ticked off. I really don't want to have to claw my SR back again because of some dumb person, I'd rather just finish 2nd without my SR graph looking like a stock market crash . I know how to game the penalty system though, so if I come across somebody that deserves it, I'll make damn sure I do.

Didn't save the replay but I did 3 more races today, all wins; in the third one I was punted off twice, at the first corner in the first lap and at the third corner after the long, sweeping left hander. Kept it together and rejoined in 3rd. The person who rammed me was in 1st; 2nd place binned it so I went past them easily enough.

I went past the person who punted me on the third lap, on the first corner, and they punted me wide again but not wide enough to get a penalty and this was their undoing. I had enough, divebombed them into turn 3, I had the inside, made contact and edged them wide on the exit, enough for them to get a 1 second penalty. There were attempted revenge suicide divebombs by them but by the fourth lap I was long gone, able to lap in clean air and bringing home some more W's for the Hyundai boys back at the factory :D.

Sad to see SR 99 people behaving like this, but I guess you can't do much about it .

how much SR/DR do you lose exactly when you -rage- quit a race? I've been running race C only and i've been amazed by the amount of rage quitting in the very first lap , after usually the 1st incident , i assume you dont lose much

I've read you go down to E? I assume it's constant rage quitting because I never see people losing a lot of SR either.
