For those who are curious about race A, here's what can happen, even if you're just minding your own business. Wasn't attempting any blocks.
I logged in to my Asian account and did a Q lap. I started 2nd.
This is my 4 SR downs within 40 seconds (99--> 63). 2 of them came with a 1 second penalty.
For the first 4 minutes or so, I don't think that being at the front of the pack is a very good thing.
I'm really glad that I haven't qualified with my McMurphy account. 👍

Looks like this race will really show some of the issues with the penalty system...is anyone paying attention?

Does anyone here remember at which SR level will SR gain be multiplied?

Got reset to C on race A at the moment and contemplating whether to tank to SR E on alt...

EDIT: For those interested in doing Race A and C in tendem, a Race C with clean race bonus would net you 65 SR if you are E rated.

Sorry in advance for a possible stupid question, I'm honestly new to the online. But do you get matched with people with similar skill levels in the online? I won my first race and I feel like ever since then the people in the lobbies have been insanely good lol.

It's even funnier if you consider what PD's SR is supposed to be representative of. According to them, what I did in that clip, was a really, really bad display of sportsmanship by me.
I think most people are not taking it seriously anymore.

Regarding Race C and Renault R.S.01 - Is there any way to make it work? This car oversteers like crazy, all it takes is too much throttle or tire wear. Actually, if tires are even a little worn (or hard) the car may oversteer and cause a massive spin even under no throttle or brake. Oh, and it devours rear tires like a beast.

Anyone got some decent ideas about this car?

It matches players by SR, primarily. Then, of the people is the same SR range, it looks for ones with similar driver ratings.
It's not uncommon to see A+ drivers in the same race as D drivers. The least popular races typically have the most uneven matching.

Not a stupid question at all. It's a steep curve. I remember feeling overwhelmed when I started. Still do.

Matchmaking is kind of like racing with AI based on your best lap. If everyone manages to go the whole race without incident, in theory you finish in the position you started. Higher you go the faster and more consistent the competition.

There's no SR multiplication at any level.

Don't use it. It's quick over 1 lap (at least it was last time I used it), but it's useless in the race for the exact reasons you mentioned. From what I remember, the WRX was a pretty good car for this track.

Wolverine, there is SR multiplication.
@Sven Jurgens could probably explain how it works. Last week at Fuji, I gained 51 SR points in a single race (5-->56), without getting the clean race bonus. I believe Sven went from 1 to 99 in an FIA race.

So much for my hopes of some good race C action this week. Two goes, two disasters. People are driving like it's destruction derby or something. Ended up rage-quitting the second race because this is just ridiculous. I was in a pack of *four* cars that all had a minimum of 2 seconds penalty each and I was just trying to keep my place and survive through Hawthorne when someone plowed three of us off track...

@GTWolverine
It's a good thing that you don't know about it. It means you keep your rating high enough to not experience it. 👍
It's like Mark Zuckerberg is doing so well financially, that he probably doesn't know that you can get your groceries for half price if you know some drug addicts who receive food stamps. No reason for him to be aware of that.

Has anyone tried hitting pause in Race A to see what happens? I think you should be able to stay paused for 6 minutes without getting booted from the room for inactivity. You you be a ghost the whole time? Or would your driver lift? I might try it just to find out.

Tried my luck at race A, won the 1st & 3rd all down to that final run and a bit of luck. 2nd race I list the draft by being too cautious on the 1st turn.
4th race a R4M crew member deliberately bumped me causing multiple SR downs, the muppet must have known what he was doing
Off to Brands for SR recovery

I think it would be a problem if the person in front of you moves right or left. You may lose the draft.

Come to EMEA. I'll help you out
Already there...

I was very tempted to find out... maybe tomorrow :D

Somewhere in that vicinity. 👍

Only 85 min now!!
Well, whenever your system finishes whatever it's doing, please believe me about not qualifying. Average finishing position for pole-sitters that I've seen is somewhere around 8-9. People behind you will give you penalties. It's the equivalent of a punt in this race.
If they give you a real solid hit, and you get a time penalty, you are completely screwed. Certain people have already seemed to catch on to that, and use it as a strategy. :irked:
Stay behind until you're approaching the final turn. 👍
