Haven't really played much of GTS and didn't realize that Race C was at Spa this week. I decided to give it go with no real practice and no qualifying. Figured I'd be ok since I just love the track......lets just say this was an "interesting" evening and if the cars in GTS were to disabled when people crash them, i think only a handful of people would have finished those races.

1st race - starter P17 finished P6
That felt so good, I haven't played in so long and that gave me a bit of a confidence boost...granted, there were quite a few people dropping off left and right....also, I noticed a lot of people have mentioned that already in previous posts but I really cannot believe how much carnage that standing starts create :scared:

2nd race - started P19 finished P8
Managed to avoid the carnage at the start and at T1...race was relatively clean, no mess, no fuss just managing my pace and keeping things clean.

3rd race - Started P17 finished P15.
Things started to unravel in that one. I think I got a bit cocky seeing how I did so well in the first 2 races. This time around, I did NOT avoid the carnage at the start :(. I had a good start but looks like some dude who messed up his, deliberately put me in the wall with a pit maneuver when I went to pass him. As the race progressed, I had the misfortune to cross path with said dude on a few occasions. He took me out not once, not twice, not thrice but 5 freaking times...5 times for 🤬 sakes!!..and then there was another guy who would just lightly bump me and every time he did, I was the one getting penalized and losing SR. Started the race at B/S and ended with B/B....meanwhile that guy who took me out those 5 times.....his rating was still B/S and I don't even think he lost any SR and if he did, it wasn't enough to drop his ranking at all :banghead:

4th race - started P19 finished P12
Seeing how the last race was an experience to forget and since I wasn't quite sure about the crowd I was racing with, I took things a bit more conservatively and ended up gaining all my positions from people wiping out.

5th race - Started P17 finished P4
Thank God that one went well because that was my last race of the night and possibly for a little while. I did really well with escaping the carnage and gained a few position while racing other folks. Good battle at the front with some fair and clean racers.

Would have loved to keep going but those 5 races were all I could managed this week and with a busy weekend ahead, it's unlikely I'll be getting any more track time. I'll say though, even with all the frustrations from racing with some of the jerks on GTS, that last race was a good reminder that it can is still fun.

Just throwing randoms out here since I am.sure some will be way off base, but fun choices could be:
Tomahawk
LM55
Chaparral 2X
Alpine

Plenty of options. Still assuming it is the Super Formula though. Thinking the F1500 would be an even worse situation than Gr2 at Spa this week.

On wheel you gently brake bring weight forward on entry which cause a touch of oversteer which you shade the steering straight or maybe a few degrees left to avoid scrubbing on turn in (very slight )then roll onto full which squats the car and keep throttle pinned all the way through. It’s de lic ate. De lib er it.
It doesn’t matter what anyone uses though, no one else can tell anything in race except car position, pretty much.
So it doesn’t matter.
The only thing that matters is can you race or not.
You must be amazing passing guys while coasting. I now worship you.
But yes, in reality for the best time that turns flat from I dunno 150 meters from apex?
Always hate having to lift there or coast because my laptime (and the next laps) get destroyed from lack of speed.
What's cool with using this method is that you can take a very sharp inside racing line, away from and passing the carnage beside you. That thumb tap operated e-brake is also a good defense against the cheaters and a quick way to get back on your racing line. Edit: Yes... Timing is everything.

All the open-wheel Daily races for the last year+ have been SF or more rarely the RB Jr. Even the Merc F1 would be a nice change of pace. Not as nice as the F1500T though...

I'm actually really hoping that it's not just an unrestricted version of something that's already in Gr. 1 though, and definitely not the 2X...I can't wrap my brain around driving a car that's propelled by thrust instead of traction...

Good on ya. More power to ya as long as you hold a line when you need it.
Nice share.
Anyhow later!

E-Brake is tricky to get right... have mapped it to a secondary paddle and am still working on the technique. Definitely shortens straight line stopping distance when used for a very short amount of time (press paddle and immediately release). Anything more than that and/or while wheel is turned = uncontrollable spin. Also seems to do something to the transmission even after released - there is a greater amount of engine braking and the gas pedal is disabled for a period of time. Trying to turn during this period can also result in slide/spin. As such, am trying to pick a later braking point but activate the system at the beginning of my braking so that everything is back to normal by turn-in.

I don’t think I’ve ever used the e brake in this game. Lol
Also if you bang off downshifts in bad timing you are destabilizing the cars balance and can be locking up the rears which decreases the control.
Some players use that overaggressive downshift to compression lock the rears and get more rotation on entry for a half tenth faster qual lap, but for my side I’m slower doing that than I am taking the turn with the car balanced better. In a perfect line, with minimum steering angle.
For me personally in this game I get the best braking by not aggressive downshifting because you don’t break traction that way, plus it’s way easier, and better on tires.
Just for myself speaking now the less I can do and the slower and or smoother I do it the faster I get.
The more I push the slower I get.
I know if a lap feels on edge kinda maybe the cars loose and kinda outta control 99 percent of time that’s a poor lap time for me whereas when I’m just super relaxed and deliberate (most sections of most tracks) the times drop down.
That’s just kinda my style, try to be the least flashy but most consistent and smooth as I can.
My whole in game career was based on midpack daily, stay clean, hold onto any position gained, keep going. Baby steps.
The crazy thing is this is a game but anything that I’ve done that’s been valuable has come from real world.

Did Race A this morning, quite a few times. Overtook someone in to the final corner, i thought it was clean. But he wasn't too happy afterwards.

So figured I'd ask for opinions on this. Was I too aggressive, should I have waited for the straight?

You do nothing wrong. I guess he wanted to use the inside but he can't complain about you coming up there when he leaves the door WIDE open!

There's nothing remotely controversial there.
He was unhappy with you? For what???:lol::lol:
Also, his ABS is off. :dopey:

Yeah, said I would have taken him off the track if he hadn't swerved and gotten off the gas.

Otherwise really clean driver, I felt pretty guilty when he raised it in the post race chat.

He sounds like a hotlap specialist entitled gamer, rather than a racer.
A racer would defend if they didn’t wanna get done up like that.
I’d bash him next race for crying like a baby and tell him to put his big boy pants on!
But, I am old school. I’ve enjoyed seeing this song from both perspectives and this is amazing art. I kinda like being the old man :)
Enjoy one of the best solo performances he made...

Be a racer, not a gamer.

You know how about instead of some of these entitled gamers resorting to post race sniveling they let their driving do the talking. This is crying.
“You would have”
“You would have cut off my favorite hotlap line”
Get out of here with that nonsense.
A guy like that trying to post race bully better hope he’s waay faster than me and starts and stays ahead or Id let my driving do the talking.
:). Take the power back!

How can someone get mad because of this ,no banging doors or even a slight touch. looks clean to me,

In on A race, coffee makes me struggle on this combo haha.
There was some kinda mess in turn 1-2 worst mess I’ve seen all week, think that Adrenalin blast got me all shaky, dunno wth happened...

"I had to back out to avoid hitting you" is only valid when you aren't about ten yards away from the inside of the track. Even looking at his inputs there's barely any correction, and you were nowhere near making any contact. Don't feel guilty for that.

I like this one. He should change his greeting to: "Dog eat dog. Yeah, we'll steal your bone." And post race to: "Ya big dummy!":sly:

@crusselz that is about as clean as you can get. He bobbled a bit but that's on him. Nothing wrong at all except someone doesnt like getting passed. They can grow up. Great move:tup:

I lost after getting passed on the Outside at the top of the hill. I had to take a tight exit to leave room, but that's racing. Much closer than your pass, much more room for disaster, but great clean racing. Your opponent needs to grow a pair.

I've been chasing the win at Suzuka all week, lots of podiums, fastest laps & personal clean race record along the way.
Tonight, the time came to break out the "Family Trophy":lol:
