RX-V is getting the job done at LS. -2 BB(as standard) and wait for the cars ahead to start coming back to me. A Lancer pulled away from me with a 1:22 FL and 4 second gap. By Lap 6-7, gap stabilised and the struggle was on. Consistent 1:24s, with my slowest laps on the last two laps of 1:25.0s. Tyre wear is even across all four tyres. It's similar to how the Atenza remains consistent and settles in. No surprises toward the end of the race. I know exactly what the RX-V will do.... regarding THIS combo. Five wins between my main and alt(3 wins for the alt).

Amazing to see the different cars(Beetle, Evo, RSR, Genesis, AMG GT) trying to remain composed on those last five laps.

Beetle has been my go to for race C this week, for me it is by far one of the better cars on tires and handles a lot of the corners at Laguna better than other cars. I've only had a few races where the car ahead of me was able to hold onto their tires as well as I had. Usually by lap 7 you can see the pace start dropping for others but some just seem to make the tires last regardless what they're in, freaking aliens man. I can usually set a fastest lap in the mid to high 1.22 and then run low to mid 1.23 till the end if I'm in clear air. Most races I start in the top 5 and usually by attrition I'm in the top 3 or 2 after a few laps as long as you can stay out of trouble. Surviving the first laps without losing time passing or being passed is crucial imo, breaking away from anyone with less race pace than you is vital to the integrity of your race. This is also why I love the beetle here, it lets you attack hard at the start without having to worry too much about the tail end of the race.
 
I don’t find the beetle has any better tyre wear than most other cars. However it is easier to drive on warn tyres with its tight steering and low power output. It’s a sitting duck in the first few laps though, if you lose the slip to the cars ahead you are in for a lot of pressure for a few laps.
I’ve enjoyed both C and B this week, tallied up 16 races in total, with only a couple dirty of drivers and 1 daft penalty. A successful week :cheers:

It's not a straight line rocketship by any means but it can outpace most cars around this track without slipstream if your driving it closer to max potential which I'd say is easier to do than other cars this week for the entirety of the race. As long as you don't butcher the last corner the slipstream is pretty useless at Laguna tbh. If your hitting your marks anyone with half a brain will just follow for the first few laps usually, not getting the sitting duck vibe with the beetle at all myself as I'm usually towing someone with me away from the pack or hanging with the lead group and then picking up the pieces as their tires die or they make errors.
 
A Beetle had started on pole nearly every race. The same player just gets whooped by a C7, AMG. Anything faster than the Evo.

I fought the Beetle for many laps. It's quick, no doubt. However, the characteristic oversteer of the RX-V, helps it rotate and gain more traction as the the tyres wear.
The car is pointed straight with more of a four wheel drift, if you understand, rather than having to be careful not to get on the gas too early in other cars. I can carry more speed through the corner and have more exit speed earlier.
The beginning of the race, the RX-V still lacks the torque to challenge in the early laps. Just have to be patient for the middle to the end.

Completely agree but that’s because your race pace is in the 22s when most aren’t.
Not sure what lobbies your in but I’ve only seen the occasional A+ drivers run 22s in race with the majority A/B running in the 24s. At a 22s pace in the race your correct nothing will have chance to overtake, in any car for that matter. Where as in the 24s there are more options and the beetle isn’t as op as people have generally made out.
My race pace is high 23s, low 24s and my over all time isn’t much different between various cars.

Exactly the point I made a couple posts above. The Evo had set a 22 and left me for dead, but it couldn't outrun me as the race wore on. I was more consistent with the way the tyres wore on the RX-V. I caught and passed the Evo(and the player was driving good gapped me by 4 secondsa) on shear tyre wear. Neither of us got a penalty and we passed the cars ahead of us cleanly.

A car's performance, also depends, as was mentioned, on the driver. In this combo.

Today I rose before sunrise, broke camp and advanced towards the enemy stronghold at Bathurst under cover of darkness. Central command had ordered a direct frontal assault on the enemy position. Early intelligence indicated the primary enemy weaponry was now being supplied by Peugeot, not Audi. Special Forces leadership I know only as @sturk0167 advised that given the mountainous terrain that implementing the Renault would give me a tremendous advantage during my attack run. Sturk supplied a custom camouflage for the vehicle so that the element of surprise would have maximum impact.
The Peugeot in race succumbed to the assault, and I placed second behind another Renault...There’s an awful lot that goes into a successful mission and I’m proud to report I sustained no injuries in terms of sr. In a Megane I always know...

Yeah. I learned Gr3 with the Merc, 911 and the Lexus. Honestly now I keep going back to the Lexus mostly. Still a solid capable all rounder

I’ve never spent much time in the Lexus. It took me ages to work out how to drive the Porsche, but now it’s a go-to for me. The majority of my Gr3 time is split between the Vantage, 911 and R8.

We give PD a lot of well deserved criticism here, but I think we should acknowledge what a great job they’ve done on the BoP for Gr3. You can be competitive in virtually any car.

Haven't driven Big Lex in eons. Does everything asked of it.

I need to do a head-to-head AMG GT vs Supra vs RX-Vision. Stuck back on the sleeper RX-V. Did good at the FIA race at DTS. Was pretty good at Spa. Going to try it at Tokyo. Won't be fast, but my MAzda feels have kicked in big time. Mazda everything.
 
So, I did a speed test with all of the Gr.3 cars at Tokyo East Inner Loop, for next week's race B.
Of course braking and handling need to be considered, but speed is pretty damn important for this race, since the straight is 2 miles/3.2 km long.
I recorded each car's speed where the braking zone starts.

#1 McLaren F1
#2 Peugeot VGT
#3 *Tie* Ford GT/Jaguar F-Type/Mazda RX Vision

Slowest: R.S.01, Atenza, Lancer, WRX

Hopefully, this will save some time for you guys. :gtpflag:

Weird, at Monza in Manu the RX Vision got passed by everything down the long straight.
 
Surprised the Aston V-12 didn't make the cut. Torque monster to get up to speed quickly and V-12 legs. Has always been one of my go-to's for power tracks (Monza, La Sarthe, Spa, etc.).
 
I'm back, ps4 needed diagnosing and repair. Been practicing race C with the ford gt but could not get the tires to survive and was evident the first race going from pole to last. Switched to R8 and what a difference. Had a great + clean race last night. Led for most of it and dropped off a bit and let P2 take it. I was happy settling for 2nd and last lap P1 blew right after corkscrew. His tires had slight bit of gravel and I slowly drove past 100ft from checker. Never happens to me.

I guess the RX-V is like the Gr.4 Supra. It's a bit hobbled on acceleration, but has one of the highest top speeds. Well, good news for me, as I'm running the RX-V from now on.

Today I captured the enemy flag.

The lobby wasn’t the strongest but there were several A. The vette in second was hanging around and was towing an RCZ.
They collected laptimes of 12.1 and 12.3 but my .4 .5 was enough to stay clear.
It’s been fun this week, but I think I’m done. After many successful battles it’s time to relax somewhere besides the battleground that is GTS.
 
Has any body tried to free wheel from the top of Mount Panorama? I started at turn 10 McPhillamy Park and I stopped alongside the pit exit, about halfway. I used the Peugeot, got it barely moving, stuck it in 6th and off I went. I grazed the wall at Forrest's elbow and took too much curb on the final turn. I reckon a clean run could get you completely past the pit exit.

Car makes a big difference. For me its using slight throttle blips around corners especially towards the end on a no stop.

One of the Toyota's (the FT-1 VGT one) is fairly easy to non-stop. I think I have the BB to the rear at 3 (changing to 4 halfway through the race).
However, I am a DR C/B so I'm probably also very easy on the tyres - I can only do low 1:25s

RX-VISION. -2BB. Release the throttle at the apexes for the rear to rotate. As the car begins to point forward, mash the throttle. Takes practice, but the car is consistent in this combo. Tyres wear even. So, it's not like you're worried with understeer or oversteer.

Weight distribution is 48:52. Gets balanced with tyre wear and fuel use.
