Is there any difference between what he does coming out of the hairpin and what you do into the tunnel (apart from wall proximity)? He only needed to give you half a car width's space and he's got you on the next sector. Bad awareness on his part.

Basically this, hard to tell but looks like he got first by using you on the corner. If it was just the incident though I'd say it's your fault as you admit you wouldn't be there without the bump so you can't expect him to be aware of you. Still overall **** happens.

I'm curious what you folks think about this incident.
I got a push from an RCZ, which allowed me to get overlap on the leader. He turned left, into me. My car bounced off the wall, knocking his car into the other wall (I really was turning left as much as I could there).
If there was no overlap, there would have been no contact when he turned left. A smart driver would have given way, knowing he would have the inside for the upcoming right-hander. 💡
Of course, he called me dirty, afterwards.
It seems like the penalty system protocol is that if someone hits you, whatever happens immediately after that is not your fault.

3rd place is the 'dirty' driver, he created the incident. The Canadian shows lack of awareness and pays the price for it. The penalty system was penalizing someone else at the time, can't look everywhere at once! Why didn't the Canadian get a penalty at the hairpin though, he makes contact before taking the position. Maybe he got bumped by the 0.5 sec guy.

Not sure if this draft bump was intentionally dirty, probably not, but I've met one dirty driver who used that 'tactic' against me on the N24. After making a clean pass at Schwedenkreuz with a better exit through Flugplatz, the guy following behind me bumps the car I just passed to position him back alongside me for the kink down to Aremberg, causing that car to bump me off. (You can go side by side through that kink, but not in the back in lap 1)

The first time I let it go, maybe accident. A couple races later, the exact same thing happens, same driver. He did not finish that race. I made sure of it :lol: Sneaky dirty is the worst kind of dirty.

I got a penalty in Race C by avoiding a divebombing Vantage, It hit the car ahead of me. Immeditely it got 2 seconds. I then am set to pass both cars, the Vantage reenters the track and hits my right rear corner. I get 2 seconds. So, I'm not sure about the opposite to what Sturk is saying, about someone hitting you.
BOOM! Just as I finished typing this to start my race, this happens:


MOving on to racing etiquette. Please... for the love of Pete... hold your line when you choose. Final 2 laps, I have to overtake an RSR. It's not blocking. It's being correct with picking the lane. As we enter the fast right hander towards the infield, I'm at its B-pillar. The player swears to my left, I brake and go for the switchback. The player sails far left onto the paint and I don't get a penalty. Play on.

I'm going for the DR reset. I'm sick and tired of driving careful and try to defend my SR status.
I want to race, not just driving some circles and be afraid of what the system has in mind for me.

Yeah I just did that, slipped out of B by being too timid and giving in to pushers, went silly and got bumped down to D. Now I get even more idiots to play with and have the dilemma of do I try and work my way up again or just play down to their level?
Just did a C race and more than one player thinks shoving people out of there way is fine and as the penalty system doesn't usually penalise the right player they think they are doing fine. Had one guy the other day on N24 shove me off then moan in chat that I was holding him up and as I had 8.5 secs I should move over, I pointed out that 4 secs were his fault and he just says not his problem that the system is broken. With a broken system only really high players really care about SR so it's pointless. You need to be mid B before your really going to care about a reset, I could get back to B in a day or two easily with a race that suits me.

I've seen that "tactic" a lot. Sneaky dirty it is. I do not get how their minds work. No satisfaction with this bs, it aint racing for sure.
 
Another thing I'm seeing or not seeing with the SLS. When using the brakes, the brake lights are barely visible. It's probably worse than the WRX.

Oh, man. Now you're giving away the secret professional tactics.
A few times, I've bumped P2 forward, in order perpetuate a fight between him and P1.
It usually works out pretty well for me. :D
 
Tried A. 2nd race of the year. Quit. SR 76 now. :lol:

FYI - So right before the hairpin and chicane, car will full brake, car behind propels them forward and gets the penalty/SR down. Happened 4 times in 2 laps. DRA+/A/B SR S. Watch out for it.
 
Is there a section on gtplanet for nations discussions? Looking for advice on brake balance for the clubman. Losing my fronts way too fast and I drive with TCS at 3.
 
Haha I was trying to decide whether to punt a competitor on the final turn at Interlagos.
I hesitated. I was unsure if they deserved it.
While contemplating that players fate I looked up and realized “I passed my turn in about 3 tenths ago”
“Not only that, but I’m not braking right now”
Off I went. Imagine that.

Also, if you are that guy who will not play respectfully when I choose the inside into turn 1...
If my mirrors scraping the inside wall and STILL you persist and try to stuff it up there....

This will happen on every one of my accounts going forward forever unless you apologize.
Furthermore
I no longer have any compassion for unknown names starting from the back as B S then ripping through the field turning low 30’s.
Starting without qualifying is an insult to everyone ahead from the get go.
Expect trouble when or if you run across me.
Interlagos is offering waaay too much sr not to go nuclear at the drop of a hat, or anytime in a race really if you feel like it.
Anyways so this means I’m against no qual wanna be alien quasi skilled players, and I’m against disrespectful attackers, hmmmm
This is 90 percent of the people I face in dailies.
There’s way too much sr up for C race. It’s gonna get very ugly, especially with these tires...

The 'clean' way to use that tactic is by distributing the draft on the cars behind you. It works wonders on the straight at N24. Coming on to the straight with one car in front, one behind. If you simply draft pass the one last will be first at the end of the straight. However after passing the car in front, move over to give the car you just passed the draft until he matches pace with the car that was behind then move to the middle of the two so the stay next to each other and have to slow down early for the kink. :cheers:

There were lots of contact free not so nice tactics to use on the Nord. While flashing your lights is considered rude, moving back and forth sideways behind someone is just as distracting :D Plus keeps them guessing whether you're going to dive or not.

The best way to get rid of a pursuer is to lull them into copying your moves, following mode, by driving consistent. Then suddenly go a little extra deep into a corner and wide at corner exit, right on the edge where you still have enough traction with the inside wheels to get back on the road. Guaranteed the car behind goes a little bit wider and off.
 
Interlagos is a fantastic place this week. I’ve run 3 cars and they’ve all been competitive for different reasons.

The Vantage is so quick in a straight line and eats cars on the straights.

The 911 is perfectly geared for the track and brakes and handles so well. The middle section is where you can really make hay.

The AMG is very planted and balanced. It does everything well and I find it lets me get on the throttle a bit earlier than the Vantage. It also manages the tyres really well.

I’m already up 2k DR and still 99 SR. I find the track rewards race craft rather than “elbows out” racing. Inevitably if someone tries to push/dive/lunge, maintaining your composure will mean they lose out on a subsequent section.
 
That penalty touching thing is getting to me. The car that is out of control has to be factored in. DBR9 pitted early for RM. A pack of three of us are cloasing in on it. It goes wide at the second right of the infield before the the tight bowl left-hander. I'm on the outside on RS. The DBR9 bumps into me. It doesn't go off, but I get 2 seconds. Bogus.

Serve my penalty and again, I'm behind the DBR9. An FT-1 is battling it and the DBR9 goes wide again, at the same spot. THis time, I'm closer and take the outside into the bowl. my proximity light is on and he's on my left rear the whole turn and exit. unbelieveable. People have to know when to give it up.

I had a potential 6th place. Finished 10th, where I started.

So we were in the same grid in Daily Race B and I want to apologize for what happened in turn 1 because I wasn't able to brake early as soon as possible and I was in the Veyron (the French themed Veyron).
 
OK I think people are doing this and not sure if I should try, race C meds are much worse than softs so pitting twice and only using meds for 1 lap. I'm going to try it and see if it helps as been using the VW VGT and I'm about 2 secs faster on softs. Used the Beetle first and it's closer but slower on softs. So will do one run 2 stops in VGT and then norm with the Beetle and see which is faster in race conditions.
Anybody trying this?
 
I did the two stop at first. Just puts you into traffic.

I guess the RCzs from Gr.4 are translating to Race C. I just come out the pits and this RCZ that overtakes me, is slow out of the next turn. It chooses the inside, so I take the outside. Ddue then rides me to the edge of the track. Messes up at the bowl. I go on the outside again. Rides me wide to slow me. I'm in the SLS so, I know I'm going to over power it when we get to the straight.
The fast left in the infield downhill, I get ahead into that 90 degree before we enter the straight. I go a bit hot, but not off. The RCZ again, runs me wide. Enough of that. I line it up. It's choosing the inside, but there's daylight and I squeeze in there like the numpties do. Bye Bye.

Regarding that Monza race, I didn't save the replay. I remember the three-wide into T1. I braked, but braked straight waiting for the cars to turn. Nobody turning. So, I went on the escape road a bit.
I recall the RCZ kept going slow in the turns and that was making me slow up, while the Veyron caught up. I got a penalty at some point because of one of the RCZs. I moved on.
It's a pain because, everyone in those cars, go the same speed and with no variance, they try to fit in the same space. I don't even think it's the META at Monza.
 
So did 2 runs in the VGT 6s/7m and 1m/6s/6s. The 2 stopper was 4 secs slower and if anything I made more big mistakes in the first run. Also starting on softs is a mistake as your in traffic it's hard to pass so yeah I think the best strategy is 7-8m/5-6s. Obviously that's for me, not suggesting what works for me would be any good for anyone else.

I was doing 1:30.3 in fee air in race at RBR so, very similar.

My first few races at Interlagos have been a perfect reflection of where I’m at. I have been in a lobby with all A+ and A drivers (door 18) and finished 15th I was also door 4 in a predominantly B lobby and finished second.

Our pace is fairly similar though you are likely faster as RBR and Interlagos are two of my stronger tracks. I can barely turn a lap at Suzuka, Big Willow, Fuji, Autopolis for example.

Interlagos, yeah, two easy wins in B rooms then I had a hell of a battle with 3 A drivers for the win, finished 3rd and then was pushed down to 16th cos I put the softs on twice by mistake :crazy::crazy: . So annoying, could have SWORN I started on mediums but whatever.

The Lexus is very nice around Interlagos but I get EATEN ALIVE exiting the last turn, losing a solid 6/10ths by T1. I make it up in sector 2 but passing is damn near impossible. Aston the complete opposite, I am slightly slower but it eats cars on the main straight.

As a side note, the bias towards race C is seriously annoying. 3 races and my SR went from 40 to 93, like really??? You can grind for a week in Race A or B and not climb more than 20 points. It's ridiculous.

Longer race equals more sectors, more sectors equals more SR ups, equals more SR gain by race end. Fields also spread out more over longer race making it easier to get SR up over the race distance. 👍

It's just a bit stupid though. I had pole so cruised around and gained like 20 points, compare that to race B and there's usually more traffic, lucky if you gained 6 points. It's insane. Basically finding it impossible to maintain SR unless I do race C.

A real mix of cars at Interlagos, really good to see, nothing appears to be META. I cannot get the RCZ to work though, no idea how people drive that thing.

That’s because you can’t gain as much in shorter races, but the tighter packed fields means it’s way easier to lose what you gained during a race, so it’s easier to come out even or less, even with a decently clean race. Every slight contact is SR down now, even when it doesn’t show on screen. Contact pens are like -10 SR, so one pen and a race A or B is already in the negatives.

Heck, I got a CRB with a red S the other day, cause I got a pen in qually of an FIA race, and the race still wasn’t enough to cover the loss.

Edit: I’m almost positive that the daily races were never meant to be an ongoing thing for people. They were only meant to get you into online racing, and then progress you towards FIA races. Just look at the way they are structured. 👍

Was really excited for Race A this week, but Tokyo has quickly tanked my SR from S to B in a matter of 3 races.
Folks with SR S were really clean though, I just made some silly mistakes, so its really on me.

Will need to cruise around on Race C for a while.

Quite a few Hyundai racing last night. It’s quick outta the last turn but my Mustang catches and pulls alongside right at the end. Like from finish line on...
Mustang is very strong on the med and soft tire.
I dunno what it is about RS tires in this game but for me I’m faster on med I’m pretty sure. Or it’s very very close.
One thing is I’ve been running one stop med 8-9 then soft. On softs it’s really easy to slow too much and turn in early...
I never seem to do well on softs.
I’ll try out Aston next, seems fastest on the straight...
 
Yes if anything the Hyundai seems the most populous car, odd given it is not great in a straight line. It is extremely stable but I just find it has a touch too much understeer at Interlagos through sector 2.

The softs are definitely quicker for the first 2 laps, hand down. But the medium hangs with it laps 3 through 6. Both are as bad as each other after that imho.

Will try the stang, a favourite of mine, but lately it always seems to be the 3rd or 4th fastest car for me.

I tried the 4C and although it's hard on the tyres it's fairly stable till they start to go, definitely worth a go especially if your tyre friendly, Doing 7M/6S and running my fastest races with it although the Beetle has still had the best lap it's no as consistent for me.
