Have enjoyed RBR this week. Some great racing and minimal dirty driving except for one notable session.

More generally, I seem to have hit something of a plateau in my driving. I am “stuck” at around 30k DR and seem unable to find the extra tenths to match the higher A players. It seems weird because I feel like I am so much better with my smoothness and control but then I find in race that I just can’t quite match the pace of the leaders.

I am looking forward to testing myself on Interlagos this coming week and trying to match it with the big boys, but I expect I might find more of the same.

Yeah that is my natural place too, around the 30K mark on tracks I like. I have been as high as 39K but that was a combination of a series of strong tracks and my SR was B or C. Once I get tot SRS, I top out around 30Kish in terms of competing for podiums. What were you circulating at at RBR in free air? It's arguably my best track and I was running mid 1.30's.

Really looking fwd to Interlagos with softer rubber and more laps, it is usually such madness but a dozen laps means one can pick his spots.

Nearly every race today, A or B, I have had some donkey determined to spoil races, sometimes just mine but sometimes just anyone they can hit. Going to see if it'll let me do a C and if I get better luck. Must say for me this is the worst set of races yet (but that's only 4 weeks) I could maybe cope with A or B if I was racing against sensible people, but I really need to get better at C before anything matters there.

I never race gr4 ff cars. Gr4 at Monza is boring and i'm afraid GR3 at Interlagos for 13 laps is above my experience and skill levels.
I better complete the offline things this week or take a brake for my muscles to recover.
MC Laren at Tokyo and Porsches at Willow were the best races for me since i started playing GT Sport.

Had a canny week at the N24. Notched 5 wins & plenty of podiums. Racing was reasonable enough, not too many dirty drivers & the few that were are easy to deal with.
One guy sent me a PSN message telling me to get more practice in, checked his Kudos rating and of 600 + days racing he had very rarely made it above SR C. Politely told him where to go
I did have few accidents but always gave the position back even if it meant having to be dead last.
As usual after a Nurburgring week I have plenty of DR to give away, get in quick before it's gone

Well race C was better than expected, was doing well even though I still had a donkey, but he wasn't too hard to keep behind me although driving so he couldn't punt me was slowing me a bit. Then on the last lap got booted. Same stuff was happening last week and only on race C, no idea what the issue is but it's getting annoying.

This was my second daily "week" with N24/Nordschleife... I was looking forward to it... getting ready... it was going to be Gr 4... my thing... doing a few trial laps on Sunday... rubbing my hands... then Monday....

Who turned out the ****ing lights!?!

Sigh! Always a new challenge.

Overall the week was good but that track punishes every mistake. The crowned road invites you in, but, BAMM if you miss. My comfort level is now much higher and I can anticipate every corner of the track.

My achilles was the slight left 5th gear kink at Metzesfeld. It is inexcusable to go off there as there is so little to gain but stubborn pride. I kept trying just a slight lift and it worked 80% of the time which means it failed... hmmm... too many times :dunce:!! That corner requires a more conservative approach... give up a tenth and stay on the track.

Managed to sneak my way into CB last night for the final races of the RBR in my first week of racing on GT Sport - had a few blasts round Monza today for qually of Race B finding a solid lap for 4th on the grid in 2 CB lobbies. Finished 5th and 7th, pretty content in all honesty, starting to recognise where I'm losing time, finding it difficult to be consistent through Parabolica but have no doubt it will come

I used to lift, but like you say it's better on average to brake, the problem then arises that the idiot behind you doesn't.

Monza first chicane is a lottery / pile up. Sometimes you get pushed through and it's ok, sometimes pushed off and get -4. I've gone from 12th to 3rd and vice versa. I find the Viper very quick yet stable. Maybe Huracan for QF and Viper for race.

I don't know why we have to have FF so often for Race A. Horrible droney sounding car with tons of understeer.

I'm not sure that not needing to brake there and not expecting others to brake there makes me an idiot.

I run into this hazard frequently when I think it's a good idea to run my alt as a no-qually. My personal favorite are the folks who brake going into the first half of the COD at DTS. Also a H/T to those who brake into Eau Rouge at Spa, lol.

It totally depends on what level your at. If your A or B then expecting this is fine, but I'm a C driver and expecting people to slow down at dodgy corners should be expected. Like I say lifting does work and should every time, but I make slight errors and that's why I'm a C driver. If a B or above was behind me and they didn't act like I should get out of the way I'd let them by before here. But if they are being arrogant and bumping me I'll really slow down.

By the very nature of how speed works, there isn't a "consistent" C-rated driver though, and I don't mean any disrespect by that. The faster folks get, the more consistent their lines become. There are lots of slower ways to run tracks and only a few faster ways. My line will be very similar through every corner as compared to other A/A+ drivers, although braking points, and throttle, etc change slightly to make up the difference in times.

I try really hard to race clean when I'm at the back and coming through traffic, but it's difficult to anticipate others' moves when the difference is brakes vs. lift or brakes vs. no brakes.

A quick example -- I always lift (even in FIA against like drivers) when I'm following someone into a braking zone. It's easy to coast and use additional braking power later to maintain (or lessen) the gap into the corner. I do this probably 10-20 meters before the braking point. It helps me race more cleanly. If the driver is braking well before that, there isn't much I can do.

This is a tricky one and I do not claim to have figured it out. I have tried multiple things:
  1. slight lift - works 80% - thats bad.
  2. medium to full lift - tends to work well.
  3. downshift to fourth and lifting - works badly... leads to destabilization.
  4. slight breaking - always works but at the biggest known cost.
The trick is to find the right time to lift and get close to but NOT clip the curb on the left. It is one of those times where the curb acts more like a bump than a stabilizer.

Well today was a great day.

Qualified 7th in race A. Got an o.k. start. The guy ahead didn't start so I had to go around. Perhaps someone should tell him it's advisable to start.
The mass of cars ahead meant I kept tabs and into the hairpin the inside opened and I took it. A penalty gave me another place. Despite braking early I caught up to the fighting top 3 at the end of the long fast section. I wouldn't make a move stick at the chicane so let the guy ahead go. This did leave me open to behind. At the hairpin I was brushed aside (by the only B driver in the lobby) despite being ahead as they lost time in the esses. Thankfully the game gave them a 1 second penalty and I was able to get past them again on the next lap. Onto the final lap and I was in 3rd and just behind the top 2 who were battling. The came out of the chicane side by side and I don't know how at least one of them didn't get a track limits penalty I don't know. However the Spaniard behind did. He gained something like 0.6 seconds on me and tried to barge past at the final corner. I gave plenty of room coming out of it and he kept turning into me. As he was behaving like an idiot I turned on his back quarter in an attempt to spin him. He wobbled but didn't go round. However I saw the red flash and crossed the line in 3rd.
Left the lobby to see this in the top corner. :D

A quick check of Kudos saw I gained a whopping 1,560 DR from that event. Now a B/S (I guess I can write for the Guardian now.)

Onto race B and I was aprihensive as I was now in B. I barely have the pace on some mid C drivers.

Qualified 11th with a 59.4. 3 drivers hadn't set a lap time so I was wary. I was able to get away from a Huracan at the start and gain on my fellow Veyron ahead. I went into turn 1 cautiously on the outside. Yup the Huracan must have broke on the 50 board as he sailed into me. (Welcome to DR B!) Thankfully not a big hit and I managed to get back on before the left hander. No penalty for him though. They bunched up heading into Della Roggia and I caught up. However despite keeping my left tyres on the track the game slapped me with a half second penalty. Bugger.
This allowed the Brit behind to close up into Ascari but he held back. There was chaos on the exit as several cars were wide or ghosted. Gained 3 positions. The group ahead were out of slipstream range and the Brit behind kept losing loads of time through Parabolica and would gain on me elsewhere. Whilst the group ahead were racing closely it seemed fair as nobody was going off. :guilty:
That was until the last lap. A Veyron and the Huracan had 1 second penalties. I lost a bit of time through Lesmo 2 and I just couldn't catch them before they unghosted as they were side by side. This meant with nowhere to go I bumped the Swiss Veyron bigtime. However he got a second penalty for it. I lost time and a couple of cars got me into Ascari. Though 1 cut me too much and gained a penalty himself. But the guys ahead were fighting and slowing themselves down. I was able to drive past them all on the exit of the corner. I covered Parabolica and got an 8th place.
Right maybe I would be competitive here.

Race C. This was a real welcome to B. Qualified 15th in the Atenza with a poor lap. I spun in a second attempt.
I therefore started on Mediums to try a counter strategy. Lost a place into turn one to a Aston. Ahead it got bunched up and several people went wide at Lake Descent and I would gain places then as well as to penalties. I found this to be a lobby of divebombers. I know I will not be the fastest in the lobby so will always leave space but others were just being too forceful at times. Penalties abounded. But for me it was mostly track limits. Once on the run to the final corner someone was on my inside and I left space and drifted a bit wide. 2 wheels went into the green on the outside. CHEATING! (According to the game at least.) Then drifted wide at Horseshoe. (Yeah that was my fault) I was still able to drag myself to a top ten place by the end mostly due to a good undercut and having soft tyres at the end. Crossed the line in 10th but jumped to 9th as someone got a minute penalty.

All in all I gained 2,298 DR over three races. I wanted to get into B this year and achieved it right off the bat. Not totally convinced I will stay here long but I will try for as long as possible.

Well, I miss Willow from last week already! I'm not at all keen on the FWD Gr.4 cars, and I've driven the class in general far too much lately.

Nonetheless, it's always worth a go. I'm streaming my first attempts as always:

I was doing 1:30.3 in fee air in race at RBR so, very similar.

My first few races at Interlagos have been a perfect reflection of where I’m at. I have been in a lobby with all A+ and A drivers (door 18) and finished 15th I was also door 4 in a predominantly B lobby and finished second.

That was an eventful week again on the Nürburgring. While it felt worse again, after comparing my stats, objectively it was better than GR.3 in November. Left N24 last week, right N24 in November. I did not play in between.

All without qualifying of course. Finally on Sunday afternoon track behavior improved enough to get back to SR.S

I can fully see why people not qualifying have a bad reputation nowadays. I've seen so many last week (even on Saturday 2/3rds of the grid did not qualify in the lower SR lobbies) that simply push people out of the way. Plenty don't even care about getting penalties, bump the car ahead off to build up plenty of a gap never to see them again at the penalty zone. It was pretty disgusting to watch. I've chased a couple down to force them back through the field by blocking their way while letting the rest pass. Fun game in itself, terrible for SR, yet when you're at SR.C after a recent DR reset, what is there to lose...

SR.B lobbies are the worst. Mostly because of the terrible mix of skill combined with bad driving. Fast non qualifiers starting behind slower still learning drivers. I guess those slower drivers don't end up with too many penalties thus don't sink further down the SR ladder. Below SR.B the back field is much faster over all, much less chances for accidents (yet plenty dirty moves going on) SR.A has the really careful driver problem. Again fast impatient drivers, now behind people afraid of their own shadow, fearing penalties so much they cause problems for the pack behind. SR.S has the bad mix problem (but with better drivers), terribly slow in the back, literally a lot of people that only got to SR.S by being behind everyone else.

So far non qualifying, the only place to 'thrive' is below SR.B, which is where I managed 8 victories, plenty fastest laps and also clean race bonuses. The clean race bonus was possible as well in SR.S yet no victory chances from the back. Lap one is simply too slow, 24 sec behind at the start of lap 2. Fastest lap is still possible, severe lack of aliens in dailies nowadays. My best lap last week was 8:59.8 but I've seen people do 8:56. On average the pace was only around 9:05 for lap 2.

Sunday late afternoon delivered the racing I was looking for. Clean, fast, respectful, side by side action without problems. Mostly blue SR at the end of the race, simply a joy. This time I quit on a high, before the late evening crowd could show up to mess up the party. What helped was more people online resulting in better matchmaking. Plus I got a couple 20th place starts, my favorite starting position!

After coming this '' close to saying eff it, burn this 🤬 down, the game made a comeback in the final hours. Not sure if I'm willing to take a look at Tokyo or Monza now, maybe on Sunday  Great racing is still possible!

Just did a few A races. Racing is really nice and clean there, but SR downs everywhere cuz of hitting walls slightly.
Only one SR down (without a penalty) and you have a red SR letter at the end of the race. This makes no sence at all.
Now I have to do a few races and letting everyone pass or just accept a DR reset.
What to do......

I'm curious what you folks think about this incident.
I got a push from an RCZ, which allowed me to get overlap on the leader. He turned left, into me. My car bounced off the wall, knocking his car into the other wall (I really was turning left as much as I could there).
If there was no overlap, there would have been no contact when he turned left. A smart driver would have given way, knowing he would have the inside for the upcoming right-hander. 💡
Of course, he called me dirty, afterwards.
It seems like the penalty system protocol is that if someone hits you, whatever happens immediately after that is not your fault.
I got the win and a CRB. 👍

What a difference a day makes. :indiff:
Tried A and B and seemed to get punted, brake checked or involved in any incident no matter how hard I tried to avoid it.

I think I'll just cruise around Interlagos for a week if I my fingers can take the pain (controller user)

Race incident, but I think you're just lucky to not get a penalty.
Sometimes I think that the penalty system has some sort of random algorithms.
There are situations where you think: ohhhhhhh I'm gonna get a penalty for this and then you get nothing at all.
And ofcourse you get penalties where you think: why?
After all these years I still don't get it.
