Is a good point. And is really my only option. I'll have to be the Mr.Rogers of racing and let them go by and wave when I don't have pace.
I can empathize as I practice to gain pace because it does not come naturally. The consequence is that my race pace is less than others with the same QT. So, it means you will get overtaken on the first lap and sometimes you will get punted, not on purpose, but it will happen. Don't let that discourage you. As a mitigation in the C race always start on the the fastest available tire. When you are comfortable and find the race pace you can consider other strategies for your tire selection.

Secondly, if you spin-out no one is going to judge you by it. I am pretty sure everyone on this board has done much worse.

Enjoy!!

Thats it, you're hooked. Told ya you'd be fine!
Sadly for my wife, I am. Between practicing and qualifying and doing more than 10 races, I feel really comfortable on this track. Previously, I found it daunting.

My moving up is mostly a result of people making mistakes in front of me. When I'm overtaken, it's usually somebody braking later than me into a turn, which tells me I'm slowing down too much to make some of these turns, especially that first left-hander after the start line

So my PS4 broke about 2 weeks ago and I was without the lovely GT Sport physics for a while. I pretty much redid my muscle memory for GT6 and NFS:S2U during that time, so returning was a bit more difficult than expected.

I only did two races since my replacement arrived 2 days ago and I chose them both to be race C. The first just went completely wrong: a very bad quali position + an overcorrection sending me into wall at T4-T5. Pretty forgettable, honestly.

The second was much better, but not without flaws:

Still need some time to get used to everything again.

The leaderboards are dominated by wheels so there is a small pace advantage there but the very best pad player ( @GT5Power ) can still get top spot on the leaderboards.
I'm flattered, but I can't accept being called "the very best", there's faster people than me on pad :O ;) To be fair I'm almost certain the pad was genuinely better at Gr.C Alsace as 4 out of the top 9 times worldwide were set by pad users. Outside of high downforce I use my T150 whenever possible, but the pad's traction aid is too good to pass up in these cars :P

@Norrin Radd That sounds like a race I'd love to see!

You were rewarded for your patience and for being consistent. I'm impressed you held it together after being pushed off road 4 times.

Do you recall if the offenders were penalized?

You don't happen to have that replay, do you?
Think they all got 3 or 4 secs. Not set up for making vids, but I did save the replay as I wanted to watch the start again. So I'll pass the link, no it's still not showing in library. Tag is "error" Title "Daily Race PD greatest start."

@slthree great to see you're enjoying yourself! You probably cut the track a bit, happened to me too.
I've done a bit of research about pits, and this goes for everyone, you will have to make sure not to cut the track at ALL just before warping into the pitbox. Unless you are perfectly straight at the warp point, you will lose 1.5 seconds in the pits. I have gotten stop times of 4.9s to 6.4 seconds. By going into the pits perfectly straight, I can consistently have my pit times be 4.9s.
Can anyone else comment on this?

No idea about this, but will watch out and report back

Bugatti is mighty at Monza. The car is heavy so the BoP just ramps up the power.
On any of the straights eats most other cars

Funny thing about the track - you can be hit by the red barriers on the chicanes from other driver's errors. Unlike cones they actually slow your car down / deviate the path.

If that's you "needing time", the top guys better look out when you're settled in.

Very impressive race, especially with the Corvette. How you managed the twisty sectors, I'll never know.

Thanks for posting

Good morning friends,

I managed a few C races last night. They were fun although I suffered an outburst in the third one dropping from S to A sr.
Sometimes I just get too sensitive about hard racing. I was getting fairly defended on for the final 4 laps, hard but clean defensive play by an RCZ.
Finally the final lap I got a run coming up towards Descida de Lago he went inside, I was along side brakes up just a touch early and timed my exit perfectly in my Aston Martin Vantage. At this point (final lap)
he went inside-outside-inside. He was reacting to my car and blocking me, but I got by because he came in too hot and I stole his inside.
The problem was that his defense allowed another RCZ to catch-up and final lap he attacked me. There were multiple contacts. I shoved him off track and took five seconds. He ended up beating me. In this case his attack was fair initially but devolved when I nudged him wide accidentally on worn tires at Pinheirino then he gently t boned me at Bico Do Pato.
I sent him off at Juncao but he beat me anyways after my pen.
My apologies to you RCZ driver guy! My bad running wide atPinheirinho.. I get mad sometimes too easily but I know how some gamers try to get ahead with dirty tactics because I’ve been around...

Ok, it took me forever to find your replay after I added it to my collection. Felt like an idiot when I finally found it because I should have observed that "added to your COLLECTION" was a big clue. Duh:dunce:

Anyway, that was a great race. You kept your cool and I'm learning that's a huge part of being successful. I saw a lot of bullying and it was satisfying to see you overtake just about every guy who pushed you wide.

Was that a glitch at the start? Every car in the frame just rolled off to the barriers as if they were magnetized. Crazy.

Thanks for making your replay available.

Haven't done the daily races in a while. Decided to switch to my alt and give it a go today.

Had an A+ driver in my lobby. Who "decided to race dirty because he was upset"

Gosh I wish the game could be rid of such childish people. Clearly was upset from a previous race and decided to ruin anyone and everyone's race.

Sadest part is his SR wasn't that far down, so he was in a lobby with guys trying to race clean. Clearly a quick driver. Just lack of maturity or some other mental health issues.

Yeah every so often you'll get something like that, it might just be one guy doesn't move and everyone behind him is frozen till the timer ends. It usually makes for interesting races due to the rage factor. Nearly 500 races and the 4th time for me IIRK so it's not that common.

NP glad you enjoyed it, but don't try and take any driving tips from me as most here are much much better.

He may not be upset. It is his default "racing" may be. I know a lot of emea A+ players like that.

Crazy thing was. He literally said it in post race chat when we were all calling him out.

Pre race greeting was "sorry I'm going to drive dirty" I guess we all thought he was joking.

@Little_Guppy Nice to see you at the track.
You caught me at the right time of day. I'm only drinking coffee, and no beer.
For a split second, I considered late braking and diving at the final chicane. :scared:
But I managed to reason with myself that I was racing for SR, not DR.
Plus, there's a 90% chance that I would have wrecked myself, and maybe both of us.
Nice victory, dude! 👍

Thanks. I noticed that you started at the back and then on lap 4 I looked up to see who was chasing . Thanks for the fair play.

Early morning (west coast) is my normal play time.

You know what I was saying the other day about folks in the basement rank not using mandatory tyres in race C, yup even at this point in the week. Well it got me my first race victory this evening and I couldn't be more chuffed. I actually crossed the finish line in 3rd some 30 or so seconds behind the top two but both of them and I think 4th didn't use the tyres so free places for rest of the field.

Not a clean win but it's a start and I am getting myself in the top half of the field more often than not these days so progress is being made.

That is a legit clean win. *YOU* did nothing wrong - others made their own mistakes. Congratulations!

Whats your q time? That gives us something of a reference point. The second left hander is vital, really vital, you can sneaky lose 7 tenths through there. Brake at the start of the little bit of asphalt to the right and get on the gas as early as possible.

It is addictive though, 100pc, I will play any time I couldn't instead of watch TV. Agreemnet with the wife is I play 4 nights week, TV with wife ither three nights but TV bores me to death.

Being outbraked doesn’t necessarily mean you’re braking too early. Are they in the same car as you? Some cars are able to brake much later than others.

I find it’s best to concentrate on exit speed not braking distance and for T1 cars will often dive under you for the first part of the turn and compromise their line out to leave you in a better position for the second part and the following straight.

It’s a tough complex though.

Is it just me or did PD ninja update the track limits on Monza? All I did this week was driving Race B. Every single race I received half a second+ for going "out" of track. But since yesterday, ZERO.
