Lmao, Willow is always up for laughs, just as I thought win and clean race that gets me to sr S finally opens up a clean rest of the evening, I get next race with Italians and Spaniards that pretty much did everything to slam everyone around..

Ended up 3rd anyway after 3 and 4 ram each other out :D

Still , they got me down to sr A again:banghead::banghead::banghead:

My first race back into DR.A was a disaster. First a track re-entry seems to stay on the inside, then at the last moment slams his car in front of, I can't react fast enough and give him a slight tap, instant 5 sec penalty. No harm to him, yet I'm slowed just enough for the line up of Meganes behind me to start sticking their noses in.

It doesn't take long until the Megane behind me solves his understeer problem by using me as a guide, slowing me further down, inviting a bump pass from the next Magane for another 5 sec penalty. Slowed further Megane 3 drives me off the road on the top of the hill. I try to recover only to be rammed off by another megane on the downhill section not being able to hold his line.
I quit in disgust, first time in over a thousand races I've quit a race... Demoted to SR.A instantly and almost back to DR.B.

A/S sucks, yet quitting somehow preserved my clean streak. It took 3 more races to get back to SR.S, barely, at 81 now. One race I got hit 3 times from behind, punted off twice and ran into a car serving a penalty in the final corner blocking all traffic. The penalty system judged that right for a change, no penalties, blue rating and clean race bonus. Sometimes it works. The 2 offenders were demoted to SR.B

Sometimes one just wonders how the hell they got to that rating to start with...

Btw I'm confused when it comes to DR matching, is it qualifying time that decides if I match with A/B as C driver?

It is based off your Sportsmanship Rating.

With a secondary condition of driver rating.

Qualifying doesn't matter at all.

Qualifying does play into matchmaking. If you've done the best you can in qualifying, you'll get a better lineup of drivers. Put little to no effort in and you'll get a mess.

Sounds more like it..

Still got a bloody mess, just this time full of dr A drivers..

Really don't like this higher rating bigger penalty thing :/

It is not because of qualifying. You can do no qualifying and be in the best lobby, for example. A 'mess' of a lobby tends to comes from when your sportsmanship rank is not at a common value. For example, there are a lot of drivers at a high S, hence when you are also at a high S, you are more likely to be against drivers of a similar driver rating, or possibly be one of the slowest of a group of drivers slightly better than you.

Similarly, there are a lot of drivers at B Sportsmanship, so if you are at that level and also about B Driver Rating, you are likely to find a lot of similar level people.

However there aren't as many players at a low S SR, or a high A, so at those ratings, you are more likely to be in a mess as there are less players to create varied matchmaking, so you will have really fast people and really slow people all in one.

Matchmaking is first based off your Sportsmanship Rank, and then the people of a similar sportsmanship rank are split for a second time based off driver rating.

Thanks for explanation.

What picks my brain mostly is randomness of matchmaking that happens sometimes in peak hours, at random I will end up with anything from A/S to D/C as a C/A driver, and had same happen to me when I was on C/S (99) where I had people in lobby with smörgåsbord of ratings.

However whenever I was matched in those potato lineups one thing was constant : qualifiers.. All times were within a second or two (had 3 races like that today)

Usually when it matched sr/dr the qualifier times were random and irrelevant, spanning up to 10s or no times.

I guess when there's noone to match to the system maybe just falls back to last common factor before bazingaing random lineup?

Odd because when I don't qualify, I get thrown into matches with a completely different grouping than I would if I put in a qualifying effort and I'm an A/S currently.

Not qualifying typically gives me a room where it varies wildly on who is in there, but qualifying puts me among S/S to A/S only.

Last night the game kept alternating me between the S/S A/S room and B/S to D/S room for Suzuka. Same qualifying time, SR 99, I was DR.B. One race in the fast room starting in the back half, next race starting 2nd or 3rd in the slow room. When I got closer to DR.A it kept putting me in the fast room. I also updated my qualifying lap so that might have had some input as well.

Sometimes setting a better qualifying lap gets me to start in a worse position further back...

I was in a race with you last night at Suzuka, I think I started 5th and you 7th, I watched you go by after I got hit (not by you) from rear and spun, I think you finished 2nd, I finished :banghead::banghead::banghead:

The game prioritizes stacking SR 99 with other SR 99 drivers (to a certain degree).
Let's say 25 drivers enter a race, that are all DR. A/S and SR. S, it will take the top 20 based on driver rating assuming all of the 25 drivers have an SR of 99.

Where it gets interesting is when you don't have 99 SR.

I've noticed that if your SR is in the 80's, good chance you won't make the top split - even if your very high DR A or even into DR S.
If your SR is in the 90's (I've only tested it when my SR was at 94), you very likely will still make the top split (assuming of course there isn't somebody else with a similar driver rating with a higher SR).

So basically the game prioritizes putting drivers with an SR of 99 together, but it will bring in some drivers with an SR in the 90's as long as the DR is high.

You could've been bouncing back and forth between the top split because your DR was lower in the A's or higher in the B's and one race more than 20 people entered who were SR.99 and had higher DR, and the next race not enough of them did.

had a good few races on B, first time driving the megane in anger and made places up in every race, I went into practice/quali and my first lap felt really good so stuck with that. in the races I got to know the car and could well improve my quali time but left it as I preferred the action, made for some fun races as long as you can manage the throttle, I found using a higher gear kept stability with minimal torque loss. unfortunately I found the megane far too META as all three races I entered were pretty much a one make, those that weren't in it generally finished near the back, which is unfair.

Drove the Audi e-tron for the first time today. Wow what a colossal pile of crap that thing is Drives like a dump truck with a full load Very disappointing shouldn’t take an 1/8 to 1/4 mile of braking to make a turn either

Yeah I couldnt believe how bad the brakes are on that thing. I also couldnt get the car to trail brake worth a crap, maybe it was because I drove it with a automatic transmission.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yeah I saw you :) I was in all Suzuka races last night lol. Started at 7:30, took an hour break at 9:30, and went on till the races changed at 3 am.

I'm not sure if I'll enter the train car races tonight, perhaps just stick to the mountain. I've never been fond of the electric cars in GT. I would make an exception to try the Eliica 8, that has some stopping power with 8 wheels!

I never drove the E-Tron before today, gotta be the worst car in my garage, or at least even with my 4 Sambuses.:lol:
Thats a lot of racing!!!! I like it!!!

I wonder, are now all C -Races going to start from standing?

I find it much better with flying start

So you´re not racing today... just trying the car for a few laps... and getting used to it! ...:rolleyes::rolleyes::p:p:p

lol!!!

Cipher... Thanks for accepting my Friendship request.. from my Hong Kong account (Zeftheman) !!!!

I´ve been trying the Asian Area Online races (3 days only online)... and so far with a total of only 3 to 4 hours the maximum. spent there...(a bit less more then 1 hour per day), and I´ve seen that the racers are much more correct than those on the European region!! They race almost as it was expected for someone expecting to find a true car racing simulation!!!

Given this... only with those 3 to 4 hours.. I´m already SR S and DR C (mid way to B)!! And only with basic Daily races (no FIA Races)!!

I´m getting fond on this Asian and Australian Area races! :)
Glad to have accepted your request!
And yeah Asia is pretty good :D Hope to see you soon

I know many people love Bathurst, and probably sacrilege saying this, but god I hate the track with a passion. Cannot get a good flow around it at all, and at the top down the sharp left dip the cars go light and the T300 pulls so much opposite lock I keep spinning the bloody things!

Win #21. I think all of my wins have come in the Daily Race A. One if these days I’m going to win me a big boy race! LOL

As for Race B on Mt. Panorama : Did any one of you try both the Megane and the Viper ? What's your impressions comparing the cars in regards of that track ?

I'm driving the Hurucan today on Mount Panorama. Meganes and Siroccos keep bumping me...

Kyoto was just **** today. I quit two races to switch back to Bathurst for the xx:40 race as the standing start in 7th just led to pinball mania ending in getting punted, turned around in the grass with 10 or more sec penalties which can't be served due to the constant yellow flags. Out of 5 attempts, I managed to have one good race with some fun battles after surviving the start. Two I settled to climbing back from last or close to last which is rather boring, passing wrecks mostly. And the other two I quit to do a clean race on Bathurst instead.

I guess I'll do another race on Bathurst, somehow the results of my last clean Panorama race came in first, 99 SR, increased DR, checking just now it dropped to 84 from the quit I did earlier and DR went down. And still cursed with DR.A. At least on Bathurst I can control the penalties.

Standing starts simply don't work, chicane or not, it's always chaos ending in a penalty lottery.

Edit: And I'm done. Dropped to SR.A for no reason at all. 3 cars going down the hill on Bathurst, I'm on the inside. Have to go a bit too far to the inside to give the Megane on the outside enough room, slight wobble on the grass, yet I stabilize just in time, turn saved, all 3 make it through fine. However there was a slight touch on the wobble, 3 sec penalty and drop to SR.A.

God of war is out tomorrow! No penalties!

The Megane is OP. Started on 3rd place with the Viper and ended 7th because I had no chance on the straights. With the Viper you also have to be careful with the throttle.
I tried the Megane for qualifying time trial but I don‘t like him. It was my first time with that car.
Maybe I spent to much time with the Viper. But I love the Viper. Up the hill it has a bit more power, I think, but it is marginal in relation to the wins on the straights the Megane has.

With the Megane you have to choose a higher gear to get more stability while cornering. It is a FF so different style of driving. Not my style anymore. I had problems in the turns.

If you wanna win take the Megane. If you want to have a challenge take the Viper.

My best result in 3 races with the Viper was 4th place as I started from 7th place. A lot of crashes around me. But I got no penalty because I was not involved. The next non-Megane ended 8th.

Hahaha omg, GR 2 , Suzuka and me is like taking the car to the beach.. if i get to race today it will pure....

I forgot to update my blog, i entered with a 1.52.7 only 5 seconds slower than the WR.. (WHAT ARE THEY DRINKING) and after seeing the replays of the 147s.. okay.. i have to learn not to never ever brake.. when i am thinking about braking i should hit myself, DO NOT BRAKE... what were i thinking when i though i went deep into turn 1.. hahaha i was only scratching that first corner.. tsk tsk..

Anyway... i had a fantastic race, really such a relief after to many semi boring +10 -10 seconds races.. in this race i was 2nd all the way to 9th lap where i had a slip and had to settle for 4ths.. but it was fun

I've raced both there, i prefer the viper but it is slightly slower. use the viper if you're good at the top section since that's where it's fastest. the megane accelerates really fast and brakes well so if youre losing time on the complicated sections then you can compensate for it on the rest of the track if you use that. also, and this is probably the most important difference: the megane looks kind of goofy. its like the chicken hat in metal gear solid 5 .. you can use it to make the game easier, but you pay a terrible price: it looks stupid.
