On the opening lap of Interlagos, I've found I can control divebombers and general carnage a bit if I let off the throttle early going into turn 1 and move side to side.

Sort of like illegally blocking everybody else so they slow up so you will not wreck them side to side?

Uh, no. Not like police car closing the freeway side to side. I just do the same defensive driving I do on the freeway when traffic comes to a sudden stop. I shift back and forth in my lane as I brake so that the driver behind me becomes aware of the sudden braking and can also see that the car ahead is braking to better judge how much they need to brake themselves. Most people mid-pack on Interlagos at the first turn of the race can't really see how slow traffic has become up ahead, so I just do my best to make people aware.

I absolutely try to slow those people down early because racing into that corner as they would on a typical lap will only result in a collision, and I've been punted into that median enough to not want my race ruined on the first turn.

After some awesome races with @Blacki2k2 at Bathurst I decided to try gaining the final 2 SR points to reach 99 again in Monza. Started last and planned to just follow the pack and see what happens. After 1.5 laps I‘m finding myself in P5
Finished P8, got a clean race bonus and quite the boost to my DR :)
TL;DR: Brake early for chicanes in Monza when there‘s traffic and let it sort out itself.

Happy, after so many near perfect laps spoiled on Parabolica or Ascari corners! Probably my toughest single lap in GTS yet.

I'll upload the video later. :)

Edit: video added.

Atm best time worldwide. Both in the Americas and in Asia the top1 are at 21.3xx. :D

Only did Bathurst, dr up but sr down. Not quite the bloodbath i was expecting. Getting near to Dr B, so choosing my battles carefully. Had fun in the manufacturers big willow tonight too, after 2hhrs of practice. Thought this game meant to be fun, not stressful. Ha. ;-)

Just lost 7 positions on last lap on Monza Gr. 1 race to a orange roadblock. (Not sure what they are called).

Of course it was only me who hit it after someone else further up the field had put it in a perfect position after the 2nd chicane.

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Nah. Won't race on Monza again with these cars. Just completely destroyed all motivation.

I still think the mount panorama race is the best. Just did one and i got 7th from like 16-17th lol. Need to work on my qualifying tho. I also completely ****ed up someones race by flying out and then came back in front of him and he just got destroyed damn. I felt sorry for the poor guy. :( However, he cought me but then flew out behind me instantly. But Next time i need to practice more before race huh.

On Monza it's really not that easy to burn off penalties, especially in Gr.1 where you'll get passed in no time (and probably punted) if you're slowing down in corners.

Apparently it is as my prediction came true. 80% of the board has a red dot, yet at most one finishes with actually any penalty left. That was with DR.S and DR.A.

Matchmaking is to blame as well, I get matched in rooms with S/S to D/S (I'm mid A/S). Add some lag and T1 is a mess. Last race I started in eighth. One guy 3 cars back started braking too late while the pack was already going double file into the chicane. Hit the car in front of him, that car hit me while I was door to door with another car in the chicane that was following a qualifying driving line instead of leaving room. Result half the pack ghosted, other half bumped around, I got spun out and pushed off the track into 16th. Made it back to 7th during the race and still got the clean race bonus somehow. I guess getting pushed off track doesn't count. I even got a penalty for that incident, but that was long gone after 5 laps. Red dot plus clean race bonus, odd.

Slowing down only a little to wait for the best moment to overtake the car in front of you will scrub penalties in no time on Monza.

I did more than 12 C races at Bathurst. I really enjoy this track (especially with Gr.4 cars), probably because it's somewhat similar to the Nordschleife, just shorter and with walls.
Looked regularly at my Kudosprime stats and I managed to increase my Driver Rating by an astonishing 10.515 points!! :dopey: I have now my best DR value since I started in sport mode (59589).
My strategy of saving fuel and managing tire wear to avoid a pitstop (used the BMW M4) worked brilliantly so that I could beat even some drivers who set top10 laptimes and in some races even posted 2:11.xxx laptimes :mischievous:
All in all the racing was very fair and clean so that I even had 2 or 3 'clean races' and got the 50% bonus.
In one race I span out in the first corner, had to work my way back from the end of the pack (18 drivers) and still managed to become 3rd because the drivers with position 4 and 5 crashed in the last corner before the checkered flag

Didn't have the courage to race with the Group1 cars :scared:

Just did 2 Bathurst races with different cars, it was a crap fest both ways anyways. lost positions and got penalties thanks to others (not my fault) and still gained DR points. lol I'm not complaining.

First race was with McLaren Gr4 and that car isn't ready to be competitive yet since on straight it gets passed, second race I used GT-R, much more competent on straight and corners, but the problem was others shoving themselves into an impossible spot and pushing me over in sections they shouldn't even be attempting to pass (and this race had a handful of DR S and A's).

This is exactly the same thing that happened to me last night. Went from 5th to 13th in a few seconds as I spun out in the sand.

I’m enjoying Mount Panorama a lot!
Did 6 or 7 races so far (one I was disconnected during warm-up) 5 pole positions and 4 wins with the Audi TT and about 6 best laps

I don’t know how many Dr points I won or lost, but in kudosprime site it didn’t went up or down.... is there a way to calculate the points? Usually I’m ranking 4th in those rooms (door number) and end up either 1st or 2nd

Lol same thing again. Started 8th, to 16th in T1, made it back to 5th while enjoying the carnage on the way. Just look at that result screen.

Comedy racing!

Could have been 4th, he was still burning off his penalty yet limped over the finish just in time.

After coming back to the Monza race despite last night's failure, I have to say... What a BLAST! It's so good if you break away with a pack of clean drivers. The intensity skyrockets. It's so much fun!

I also had somw succes at Batthurst with a no stop. Got a win and another good race against some top drivers. But on the third race the game crashed on me setting me back 1900 DR and 6 SR. Argh i hate when that happens. :banghead:

A. Tokyo inner loop Toyota 2000gt '67
B. Suzuka Corvette C7 road car
C. Kyoto Yamagiwa GR.3

If I remember correctly, just turned it off.

GR.1 on Monza went better for me than Bathurst. Trying to go without a pit stop did not go well, lost all the DR I gained on Monza and then some. The last race went better, full out and there also was less ramming and crashing. Starting in the back of the pack on Monza was tough yet over after T1. Starting at the back of the pack on Bathurst can be a mess for several laps.

Here's a compilation of T1 in 5 races on Monza, the joy! Even though I got knocked to last place multiple times I always managed to get back to 7th to 5th, usually with the only non red dot finishing time. It helps when you stay on the track :)

That's SR.S with DR.S to DR.B in the rooms

We really need some new tracks, and not ones that are SR suicide. Kaz keeps knocking on my door trying to sell the Tokyo tracks and I'm just not buying. Then the other day he says, "I got something new in, I think you'll like it. It's called Monza." I took a sample and immediately regretted it. Kaz just laughed and danced down the street.

Kyoto... presumably Miyabi + Yama?

A and B tickle my fancy. I'll see how I qualify in about 9hrs after work.

A

Moving side to side under brakes while racing is just inviting an accident.

Haha, i actually thought you loose all your SR points there. Good to hear that you managed that race well. Congrats! Yh, the races at Bathurst were awesome. Not the first one, but the the others :D
