Did some qualifying for Race C. It's a toss up between the 4C and the 911. Anyone have an idea which has better fuel economy? I'm guessing the 4C?

My internet was working perfectly last night! It didn't work at all Saturday night and I only had 1 bar connection during the day. My isp said my modem is the problem, miraculous recovery? Perhaps the tech coming on Tuesday can figure out what's going on, last night I had a solid 4 bars, sometimes 5. So I made the most out of it, long night of Le Mans!

I mostly drove the R92CP without qualifying. That went very well except as the evening wore on, more and more 919's entered the race which are fun to fly by on the straight yet have better brakes and gain at least a second after every sharp corner. It was possible to keep up with some of them, especially the ones that couldn't handle the acceleration and kept slamming into my back right after the corner... However I tried going without changing tires in the R92CP, not a good idea. All the newer Hybrids were fine without a tire change and use less fuel as well so I kept losing my hard gained ground in the pit, easily 8 sec lost in the pit stop.

I did try the TS050 hybrid for a bit which was faster overall due to gaining positions in the pit instead of losing them, yet I missed the top speed of the R92CP. Fun to out brake people for a bit and not lose the acceleration battle but the straights became dull so I switched back and stubbornly avoided the meta car.

There really needs to be a GR.C or something. Only twice or so in the whole evening I got to actually race a similar car. The rest was just dodging 919s and other hybrids. I did one qualifying lap for the last 3 races, a 3:27.9, to see how that would go. It didn't make much of a difference as all the 919s qualified faster anyway. I was still starting 16th, still making up plenty places though.

Anyway I recovered a bit from my internet mess on Saturday, back to SR 99 (that only took 2 races) and up 1.7K DR overall. Best finish was 4th earlier in the evening against the DR.B crowd and always up there in the the top 10. Last race I was back down to 10th with the A+ A crowd all driving 919s. I beat a few hybrids, that was all I could do. I was actually 9th, yet the 919 behind me in the final chicane just shot out like a champagne cork despite me taking the chicane perfectly.

Fun stuff! I wonder if DR.B also makes your car more stable in collisions? So many times have hybrids hit me in the back last night and it never seemed to affect my car while they sometimes went spinning off the track. Perhaps weight difference? Never a penalty for me either so at least that was working right. R92CP needs to brake a little earlier and is slow out of the corner, it needs a livery with a big warning on the back!

You're wrong.

I've never experienced so much "human drama" in a single lap before.

Well, mostly. I've seen you a couple of times today, didn't realise you were here, but I don't recall meeting any of those idiots though.

I'm back up to BB now.

After a second bite at Race A which went very badly, I dropped more DR and SR down to A. It was mostly DR/A and B with SR/A and B. I qualified P4 but that seen dropped as I was bashed around by just about every other car there :scared:. I was in P2 coming up to the first chicane. The guy in P1 was deliberately driving on the left to take out the cones for the rest of the drivers behind. Even though I knew my braking point, his driving put me off and I screwed the chicane up again, then got gang banged by the noisy tribe and ended up finishing P10.

Then I went off to chase the Dragon. The 4C was no power car and I was again stuck in a mix of much higher rated drivers. Qualified P9. The noisy tribe was back and as usual I was mauled in T1 but stayed on the track ... with an orange SR for being sandwiched on the exit. I managed to get around for the most part, but I messed up the bus stop and was slammed by 5 other cars. I managed to pick myself up and finish P8. SR up 2, no idea about DR but I assume up. So, lets go again :dunce:.

Second time round I again qualified P9. Looked to be more or less the same starting grid. This time I took the inside of the chicane, still got mauled with an orange SR, but came out in P3 by the next corner. I maintained that for a while, but eventually got bitten by the bus stop trying too hard. I pitted on lap 7, didn't change tyres and came out P4. I had quite a gap, but my tyres were beginning to slow me down and I was caught by the P5 and then on the final lap P6. So P6 for me.

SR up a bit more, but still A. DR up a bit more. My visit to DR/C lasted 19 days. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Got my 10th win, and it was my first race on the Le Sarthe. Of course I had to use the TS050, which I qualified in 3rd. It was a good race, even with getting punted at Mulsanne Corner, on the opening lap. Which dropped me down to 7 or 8th. Managed to claw back into third by the end of lap 2, and the 2nd place guy, then pitted at the end of lap 2. I stayed out, and managed to close the gap to first by 2 seconds, at the end of lap 3.

I then decided not to change tires, and put enough fuel in for laps 4 and 5. I managed to leap frog 1st place guy, with a 2 second cushion. But I missed my braking point going into Mulsanne, and ended up getting passed, and 1.5 seconds behind first. Manged to catch him back up on Mulsanne Straight, before the first chicane, and mange to pass him going into it. I then was able to keep my lead, and win. He also had a 3 second penalty, so I had a bigger margin than I thought.

A couple of mistakes, gave me some .5 second penalties, but I knew how I got it, so I could avoid them during the race. One big one was a 3 second penalty, going into Arnage, when there was 4 vehicles going into the corner. But I was able to work off that penalty too. Fun race, as I didn't get to do the GR.3 race, because I was watching Le Mans.

Edit: Now with full video of the race.

Wow! Perfect example of "never give up". Awesome race!

Yeah, the few races I've had with you have all been pretty clean. I guess it's down to pot luck, some are SR:C because they're terrible drivers who want to watch the world burn and other are down there through no fault of their own and can't escape.
Well done mate:tup:
I'm counting this as a grand chelem :P

0.028 though! I was trying to take a photo but it's a pity you're ghosted.

@GOTMAXPOWER

The DJ fellow went off to the left, came back on right in front of you and you tagged him and he went off right (that's where you got the penalty although there was nothing you could do.) He then came back on into the side of me, then hit me under braking for the last chicane. I kept it on the road and he hit me for a 3rd time at the apex. You'd slowed to serve your penalty but crossed the line 0.028 ahead of me.

Well, I got a win at Le Mans, but my race looked pretty much like @GOTMAXPOWER 's. It was like billiard balls through the esses, and surprisingly I came out unscathed. I got a nice draft on first place and passed before the first chicane. Although he booted me into the kitty litter at the second chicane ( and gave me a 3 second penalty ), he pulled over to let me pass at Arnage. I came away with a win, 500 DR points and 1 SR despite getting a penalty.

I guess I must've made contact to get the penalty, at the time I was sure I had managed to hit the brakes just in time because I didn't feel anything through the controller.

At least he finished behind the glorious GTPlanet 1-2! :gtpflag:

Five day after obtaining the "Record Number of Races" trophy, I obtained the "Certified Genius" trophy on Saturday, the second of the three gold trophies.

More Group 4 the better. Still getting a handle on the NSX. It doesn't feel as quick as it is.

My races at Alsace, showed its potential. Just about in par with the 458. Good acceleration on the uphills keeping the 4wd cars behind. However, it's like I'm over driving it, because it doesn't "feel" fast.

In comparison, the 86 and Mustang feel fast. I can qualify well in those cars. Qualifying the NSX is killing me. I'll experiment more with TCS 0 & 1 when qualifying begins.

The in game leaderboard at top left now appears to be showing the name of the car being driven rather than the driver’s name? Is that new?

I get a similar experience with the Corvette. Some of the other cars seem faster because they sound angrier. The lazy V8 burble makes it seem slower than it is.

Interesting that a car with Racing Hards is on Daily A at the end of the week.
I wonder if that means we'll have the BMW E30 again. It did have RH when it was in the race C a long time ago.

You can change between car and driver names on page 2 of the drop down options menu.

Yes please. Would love seeing all the different liveries for a "DTM" event.

I did some DT racing today in the trusty Corvette C7, so much fun to drive. I'm still on my no qualifying streak in high DR.B, which is going very well.
qrRSYY8.jpg

That sums up my evening. After getting disconnected in lap 2 of a DT race I switched to race B that was coming up. That was interesting climbing up through the chaos, true destruction derby, quick back to DT!

I'm not sure why I got the clean race bonus for the last race as I got bump passed, dirty blocked and hit from behind more than in the previous races. It's a mystery how that works, all races were blue anyway and only a penalty on the first race from tapping a car spinning out 1 ms before it ghosted.

Actually there were 2 more DT races. I did a quick race in the afternoon, was dirty, plus it was my first race after enjoying GR.1 and I crashed in the bus stop getting used to the C7 again. The other was early evening, still at a dirty time, only got to 14th due to cars crashing right in front of me in the bus stop taking me with them. Not much you can do in the middle of the pack except hope that they make it or ghost in time.

I also tried race A but got no further than a practice lap. I made sure not to qualify by accident by taking the chicane before the start 1 inch too sharp, totally on purpose, invalidating my practice lap. Once the race started I got disconnected, which was fine as I almost fell asleep during practice. So slow and you still need to brake earlier and more than the R92CP. Which is when I tried the destruction derby which was just as much chaos in the afternoon.

In the end DR up 1K despite the disconnects. Which leads me to question the usefulness of DR as a measurement of race craft. Not only do disconnects weigh heavily on DR, in my experience I can reach 52K when putting effort into qualifying, starting on top and grinding the races I'm good at. I average out at 40K with some qualifying and to a lesser extent favoring the races I'm good at. And now I'm averaging 26K racing whatever is on without qualifying. My race craft is not any different. 50% of DR comes from hot lapping skills and picking the right races.

For now I'm still enjoying the DR.B penalty shield, and overtaking is actually more fun than winning. Certainly more fun than starting 4th and finishing 4th or getting punted to last in T1! One of these days I might actually win a race from last, then the classic GT experience is complete :)

Dragon Trail continues to be my weak track. Couldn't even get my times into the 36s with the Corvette. I did use the races to try out a few cars one last time before I settle on a manufacturer. It did make for some interesting races, though.

That was one of my "better" efforts. I crashed at the bus stop one race and collected 10 seconds of penalties hitting people that crashed at the bus stop in another race. Have I mentioned how much I don't like the bus stop? :irked:

DT yesterday was an absolute nightmare!
Never managed to pass T1 without any damage.
I kept trying in the hope to finish at least in top 10 not to lose too much Dr but it was a stupid move...
Went from high Dr C to almost Dr d but I managed not to lose SR.
Hopefully mount panorama today will be better.
