Another typical Monza night with the exception that I never left SR.S. It got close though, down to 81 SR after some shenanigans. One 10 sec penalty from someone messing up in front of you already means a red rating at A/S.

One of those 10 sec penalties came from the side effects of ghosting.
W8J8b2I.gif

The car further ahead tries to serve his penalty, the car in front of me thinks he can pass through yet the first car unghosts on his bumper. The car in front of me panics and does an involuntary brake check earning me a 10 sec penalty. Why do people serve penalties in lap 1, in traffic, with a car right behind. Should be reason fro DQ imo, yet the game says slow down...

Another ghost penalty
96g9vV4.gif

A recovery not making any attempt to stay out of the way as he is ghosted anyway. I can't slam on the brakes as there's a car right behind me, so I do what the game wants me to do and go through. Not, he goes solid while we are overlapped, bang noise, 4 sec penalty.

The game needs to stop unghosting cars on top of other cars. This whole ghosting is pretty dumb anyway. In another race a car that crashed in T1 merged with my car and we drove together to and through the next chicane, occupying only 1 spot on the track. It was efficient use of space I guess. Yet without ghosting T1 would be a standstill. Perhaps the game should slow down the car that is behind instead of letting cars draft ghosts which keeps them merged.

Anyway on the short way back to 99 I managed to score a victory:
1PPc.jpg

This one was worth 419 DR, instead of the 3 DR I got for the DT Seaside victory from the back.

Second place earned me more. At the 23:30 race I got 1126 DR for second place surviving this room
3PPc.jpg

That was a max SR room, well at least it was at the start of the race...

And those starts! Starting from the back doesn't really work if there's still more non qualifiers behind you. I only had the luxury of starting 20th once, 19th in another race yet usually I still get 3 or 4 cars behind me. Starting from the back looks like this:
Pq7XLF7.gif
oGUqQ1h.gif

Best to brake a little early and coast through the mess as smooth as possible. In one race I went from nearly last to 4th place before Ascari. The gif on the right is the first part of it, went to 5th after the second chicane then another place up next corner.

Monza had some 'nice' characters again as well. One guy got called out by 3 people after the race (including me), a true serial diver. Yet he ended with a blue rating as the only thing you can do with a dive bomber in A/S is make room, let him cut you off, or get a penalty. Looking him up on KP he only recently made it to SR.S. I guess with 400 races with SR and DR at B and lower, you pick up quite a few bad habits. That was the only race I lost some DR as I finished 8th behind him, he was just too dangerous to pass for a third time.

My last race of the day was great again, finished 2nd, clean race bonus (105K credits, not bad actually), which puts my DR at 36.9K, so much for getting back to DR.B.

You're just lucky with those last two gifs. I've picked up dozens of penalties doing the exact same thing as you there. In fact the ferrari looks to have been rear ended by you straight after it cut the corner and unghosted right in front of you almost at a standstill. Normally the game thinks thats a slam dunk penalty for the car behind. If you didn't get a penalty there go buy a lottery ticket.

Dont let this fool you, The KTM is quick.

Note the DR or the drivers. Tuned up, it can be a handful to the unwary, especially on sport tyres. I think down my end of the spectrum things will be a bit more balanced. Then again, the only car in the game that's ever driven the way I like is the kart .

Who was I kidding? A pleasant respectful race at max SR? Not a chance!

Saw @ASH32 had a little battle towards the end until I touched the green stuff when getting a bit big for my boots racing an A+ driver

That KTM would not have won if the Raptor(it started fron Pole) didn't punt me after me and the 911 out cornered and passed it. The player kept driving off road in the corners, deliberately.

Next, the little S-FR was trying its hardest to pass cleanly, hut the Raptor kept going into the dirt on the corners and popping out in front of the Toyota. All the while, allowing the KTM to pull away.

When me and the S-FR finally got ahead, the KTM must have gone off. We caught up to it, but too late.

So I am at rock bottom this morning, DR D and SR D. 👎

What is the odds of me making any improvements at all today, is it likely to get blue SR from the N400 race or should I just stick to
race C Interlagos?

Depending on the driving today it's decision day for me as I either quit online racing for good if I don't improve or keep going if things
go well so if someone could let me know on SR improvement's I'd appreciate it.

I would say interlagos. Brands was just a punt fest for me. since Interlagos feels more wide, you can stay away from other cars.
If you want to improve your SR, don't drive on the limit from the get-go. On 1st lap be more cautions and lift your throttle 50 meters before the braking point. you'll have time to position yourself, or get some distance from those in front of you so you don't hit them. you'll catch them either by trail braking, or drafting. Focus on getting a race with the minimum penalties. Place doesn't matter
Just go and hold your position, and race with a bit of leeway.
You'll improve fast enough to note the differences, and judge better where to stand on track.

Race on, my dude :gtpflag:

Racing in a Raptor is the equivalent of racing in a big rig on Motorstorm when everyone is racing in an average size car (or rally car in Motorstorm).

lift your throttle 50 meters before the braking point.

Just move off the line first or you will be rammed and you will cause penalties for clean racers who just dont expect you slowing down so early.

Have been away for a while. Is this N class racing with open setup in daily races a new thing? Have never seen this happen before. The "needs tune" in vehicle select is also a very good addition by PDI.

So yesterday I broke, Maggiore in the fancy Golf, after 6 laps of the same guy shunting, divebombing from ridiculous angles, nudging, brake checking and generally been a dirty racer I flipped, he finally got past me and coming up to the last corner he swerved into my line and brake checked me, I tapped him, got a penalty and onto the straight we went. I knew what I was going to do, I frankly didn't care anymore so at the 1st corner I aimed, pulled the trigger and hit him at full speed. We both went off, races ruined (we were 5th and 6th respectively)

Today I feel kinda bad, it wasn't clever, don't be what you hate and all that but moving forward I will stand my ground a bit more, no more moving aside when an idiot is in town.

Just wanted to share, now back down in SRB from SRS, the grind restarts.....

A A+ driver with spiking pedals too and one with a lot of dumb penalties for next to nothing, had to basically stop twice to get rid of some, basically I was having an awful race and the joke was on me for even finishing it because I blue screened anyway at the end.

Not been a good day today, I'm a little down on pace and people keep no stopping in their Trophys and I can't save enough fuel to do it, I guess they are always changing the mapping up and down and if I don't have the radar on you can bet someone will hit me and if I do and have to keep switching it on and off to change fuel settings I'd probably crash.

First bit of advise, DON'T GIVE UP!!!! Getting into the lower SR's does make it harder to claw your way up and the matching is usually terrible, but you just have to keep plugging away. since you are already down to DR/D you have nothing to loose from a driver rating perspective. Don't qualify, start at the back and let the mayhem unfold in front at the first corner, then start to build up momentum. Keep an eye on your radar, and be ready to move out of the way. It may mean loosing a position, but the chances are, anyone driving that recklessly will probably fly off the track eventually.

Just focus on staying on the track and out of people's way till you build up your SR. At the lower DR's penalties are softer, but a couple of orange SRs on an A or B race will drop you down. Stick to race C and stay out of the way. You may loose DR but look on the bright side, once you reach 1 point, you can't loose any more! 👍

Check out the stats of this 🤬 that I met yesterday at Monza. He rammed me off the track twice, and then proceeded to so the same to everyone else he got near. He then sends me a PSN message, telling me I'm a loser, with a picture of his level 50 page.

Note: 2137 races in 257 days is 8.3 a day.

EDIT: Here are his PSN messages to me.

Looking at the stats it's clear the driver above just wants to win at any price and is quite happy to spoil the game for everyone else in the process. They have nearly 800 wins but have quit over 300 races too.

Not sure what you can do to stop someone gaming the system this badly other than ban them.

It's not like they are bored or anything. Been driving like a 🤬 throughout. They look to have 'finished' the game as well. Why drive like that if they are relatively good on the game (in stats comparison)?

The academic example of the one to be banned from online existence for... a year.

(And the biggest blame of this title and sony that he still can go on with this behaviour.)

A A+ driver with spiking pedals
Brethen I'm not the only one apparently ;-; are you using a G29? I have the exact same problem

I'M GONNA RACE IN A RAPTOR
Update: Went to the US region, used my trusty praiano-spec 911 I frequent in competitive lobbies to set a 1:35.073, good for 7th on the Top 10. Quite surprising tbh, considering I'm bad at Brands

Race in 5 minutes, hopefully I'm in pole to have a chance of winning. Heheheh...

No T150 with T3PA pedals. They'll be dirt in them again I bet as it comes and goes and it happened to me before and then it was fine for a long while after again. Might have to open the case to clean them properly this time, I don't know yet, I may be able to clean them out enough without opening them.

It could just be dirt in your G29 ones too.

Thanks for the replies to my earlier post, Race C it is and I shall see how it goes for improving my ratings.

I'll report in again to the topic later in the evening with how things go at Brazil, I have the confidence to know I can improve, I just
have to hope the race conditions allow a good result, I am going to work purely on the SR and then can look at positions again
later.

I've already went through 2 cans of compressed air to no avail; still spiky :( I don't want to open the case, since it's stull under warranty. After the race tomorrow I'm taking this to the store and hope that it can be fixed/replaced in three days...

My race went rather badly. I got disconnected :grumpy:

Been doing some pre-qualifying for Brands. It's tough when it throws 80+ cars to choose from. I didn't try the X-Bow, but it was tempting. I tried a bunch of others, even had a go with the Cobra. Almost went with the heavy Chevy, but the 911 just feels more comfortable. Will see how things go at race time.:scared:
