Sarthe was great fun, first messing around and drop to DR.B, then getting a bit more serious to win 2 races and get back into DR.A
Some speed tests at first to pick a car
Miura P400 Bartone, top speed 309 kph
Shelby Cobra, top speed 292 kph
Ford GT40, top speed 311 kph
So I tried the Countach first, cause why not
Countach did not fare well, fun but not in time to the finish line. I did beat the other Countach, there's that....
The Miura went a little better, however I got screwed with penalties and dropped to SR.80 for hitting a car that was looking for a parking spot.
So I switched to the GT40, at SR 80, easy to make up 12 places to finish 4th.
Back to the fast room I managed to finish 11th and then 8th.
It was time for a break so I back out of the sport section and get my daily gift car, an F40! Ok, I'll take the hint, join the F40 crowd.
My first race I crossed the line in 3rd from the back yet got screwed with penalties again (got hit by a car that got punted and got the penalty for it) and dropped to 8th at the finish line (I didn't stop for the penalties)
The next race I was in 5th at the end of lap 2 and got promptly disconnected, grrr.
So with nothing else to do I qualified with a 4:04 something and not to go for an easy win I took the Raptor for a spin. See above
My DR was truly tanked by now, so time to get serious. After a 2nd place with fastest lap I managed to drive to victory! After that there were 2 more 2nd places and the last race another victory, despite and thanks to this incident.
I get hit from behind and slide into the competition I have been battling with the previous races. He goes off, I get SR Down, red rating for the race and 3 sec penalty for that... Yet I manage to get 6 seconds ahead of the rest so easy win. I was hoping for another close race though.
It was only -1 SR this time, so ending the day at 32.3k/98
Btw starting at the front wasn't all that great. 2nd to 4th pass you on the straight then 3rd kept me up letting first and second escape. I did manage to catch them again, that straight is so long it's very hard to get away. (Good for a cup of tea along the way)
