Race A's are probably the most difficult with SR. Race B's you can get back 7 SR , and Race C about 13. Depends on the track too. Big tracks = bigger gains usually.

Thanks for the info. I guess I've never really paid attention to the races yielding different SR points. Never been low enough in the rating to care.

Race B for me today, lot of fun :D Used the 650 first for funsies, but then switch to the Z4, with I didn't use in a long time and it was amazing on Maggiore reversed

No quali on Race A is DA BOMB
I literally go from 11th-4th in the first corner (from the outside :mischievous:), and then easy pickings from there. My highest finish was 2nd, and at some cases I was battling and holding the lead for a bit. Actually the only time I finished 2nd and didn't battle for the lead was when Mayor Halfaz was leading. No way am I gonna get within a second of that guy

Did they change how the sportsmanship rating works? I fell back down from SR.99 to SR.57(The lowest I'd ever been) in the last FIA race I participated in.(I don't want to talk about it.)
Anyway, I jumped back on today since I found a nice window of time and did a couple A races. The first one was clean, but I only went up to SR. 59. Barely 2 points gained. The next race I got one penalty and it fell all the way to SR.52!(My new record low)

Anyone else noticing harsh drops with very tough gains?

I hate to think I'll get stuck down here with the knuckleheads even though I've been able to maintain DR.A. I can do well to avoid most rough traffic, but I'm definitely not perfect.

If you want to went up your SR you should compete in the Race C. On thursday I lost 24 points (99-75) because of the Race B at Nurburgring and yesterday I recovered all those points at Suzuka in the Gr1 race just racing twice

Oh that race B was so funny. I was laughing from Lap 2 onwards.

I'm watching my mirror. The car behind went too wide at the final turn. Smashed into the wall that sticks out from the grandstand.

Next, I'm gaining on a Z4. I see a Porsche was attacking him from T1 all the way to the bowl hairpin. Allows me to close on it at start of lap 3. So, it's being cautious at T1. I'm just going ride it's bumper for thd lap. However, it was cautious T2, T3... then, it just decides to cut the corner at the first ess. Too much speed for the right, heading down to the bowl. Whoa, whoa, whoa, he's in the grass. BAM!
I was like, "What in thee hell????...". Just start busting out laughing.

Between those two cars going off. I was trying to hold it together to the end. These races get so hectic at times. We all need a good laugh.

Are you sure he wasn't just trying to pit?

Just did 3 Race Cs unqalified, results were 11th, 11th and 7th. First race started from 20th again, was pretty exited about that lol. Waiting for the 4th one right now. Forgot to save the replay to check the crashes *facepalm*

The third race was really good, against a guy with a GTR Gr.4 and accidentally nudged a guy in an evo off. Apologiesed to the guy in the evo and he forgave me. Two great battles all round. I'm eager to get into the 1:32 with the Scirocco, but I guess it'll come naturally if I'm not chasing after it.

Can I play with madness? The prophet stared at his crystal ball. Can I play with madness? There's no vision there at all. Well folks, Race B and it seemed that I wasn't the only one who wasn't quite with it racing the reverse config. I did a pretty crappy qualifying in the Merc, but still managed to qualify P8/16 on a mixed grid of DR/C and D. If I could finish there, I'd be happy enough. At least I didn't do what I did the last time I qualified on this track... T1 isn't a left hander apparently :dunce:.

I kinda took a slowish approach at T1 up the inside, not worrying about people passing me on the outside. So long as no one shoved me off and I didn't hit anyone, it was all good :). Any places I lost I regained from people overcooking it and mowing the lawn. Did you know that if you hit the side of the orange cube there, aside from coming to a stop, you also get a time penalty? Talk about double dipping time penalties :odd:. I only did that during qualifying :p.

As @05XR8 mentioned, that corner before the bowl hairpin is a doozy. I think I saw someone come off there on every lap. I just kept plugging away. I was managing the esses a lot better this time compared to the last time, but I was still playing musical gears to stay on the track. On the final lap I think the Beetle behind me was getting a bit impatient. I'm sure he thought I was blocking. If I was blocking, I'd be smooth and cool. I was more like "ohcrapohcrapohcrap!!! please stay on! please stay on!". I'm sure it was some form of prayer to whomever was listening .

The bug wasn't able to get past me on the final corner so with no penalties I finished:

DR went up about 500 and I got my 4 SR back so 99 :D. Happy with that. Gives me 19 SR and 2400ish DR to spend on Race C .

I just finished my fourth Race C at brands hatch, I thought I might lose DR since I only gained 60 from the first race, but from race #3 and #4 just now, I got a massive 2100 DR reward, despite finishing 10th from another unqualified start :eek::eek::eek::eek:

So....I'm a C/S driver now :boggled: Oh yeah, also got into the 1:32s. Now to make it consistent 👍

Brands Hatch is almost pointless, unless you're saving fuel in Megane and join the precession.

So difficult to overtake and way too many 'S' safety rated morons who can't comprehend slowing down when there's heavy traffic right infront of them.

You try to give space and not do anything crazy on lap 1 + 2, but every corner get punted from behind or dive-bombed..

This is supposedly A / A+ / S rated drivers with S safety rating... :boggled:  :boggled:

Race C, especially on Brand's gives up to 25 sr points.
That can effectively get one from sr C to S in 2 half decent Daily C racers..

Whoohoo! Congrats dood(ette). When you go up a level they also gift you with a couple of thousand DR to stop you from dropping back down again after the next race. The downside is when you drop a level, you loose a couple of thousand DR so you don't go up a level after the next race :scared:.

Well race C for me. It was chaotic. I did a few qualifying laps with the 4C since it was 10th in the top 10 at the time... below the 9 "slophys" . It's a good match for the track, but I beat my best time by almost 2s after 2 laps with the NSX. Still too slow. P13/20 with a mixed grid of DR/B/C/D.

The start was chaos. I got rear ended at T1 but stayed on track. The racing was tight, with no room to get anywhere unless you wanted to shove. With cars up my rear and cars on my front bumper it was hard not to hit anything or be hit.. which I was. The heard thinned after the first lap a bit, clumping into various packs. Being held up by slower drivers in front and having to constantly ease off meant that the cue behind me was growing, and it was only a matter of time before someone forced me off the track trying to get ahead.

Yep, into the sand with me as cars went zooming by. I think during the race I had 4 cars push past on the inside, half on the grass and half trying to bisect my car . The NSX is pretty good on fuel, but the tyre wear was begining to hurt, so I pitted lap 9 for fuel and tyres. I pitted P5.

Coming out of the pits I dropped back to P10, made up a few positions, then got knocked back again. In the end I crossed P10 with no penalties.

SR maintained, DR up 100 odd. No point crying over what might have been, still in the top half. DR/C, the journey continues :D.

That unfortunately also gives people at SR.S the freedom to afford several big penalties without risking a red rating which is why SR.S races are often dirtier than SR.A.

Two GR.4 races and GR.3 on a track I don't like, what a slow day. I'm going to take my bike out instead and add 80km to it. The weather is finally good for cycling today. I went last Thursday and the first hour and a half was killer hot after which I got caught in the most severe thunderstorm I have ever cycled in. Pelted with hail at some point and rain so heavy I could hardly make out the edge of the road, leaving a bow wave behind me. How's that for dynamic weather, it was epic! I was in that for almost an hour, got so cold I needed a piping hot shower to get my core temp back up.

I'll try some different cars on Brand's tonight, fuel saving in the Trophy, no thanks.

I was in this race with you!!!!!! :gtpflag: I finished P9 lol, I could've been a P7 or even 6 if I didn't mess up the last corner....:ouch:

When I passed you when you were in the pits, I was like "nooooooooo! Invisigoth!!!!!!!!!!":lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: But still, the enjoyment of being P20 and then right up in contention for P6 was a really good race for me. I did one additional race after, set a new PB of 1:32.189, but didn't get a single lap in the 1:32 in the race. It's ok, that's it for me today. 6 Brilliant races, this is my perfect combo.

I'd love to write some more about some of the things you pointed out, like with the NSX - I tried with it too, before it was full time Scirocco Gr.4 - but I'm going to get ready to turn in for the night. The TT Cup was also good for me. I will talk more tomorrow!!!!

That's very unfortunate, although I still think this is a popular thing to do in the European/American servers. In the N400 Race C daily at Le Sarthe, I only saw half a grid of F40s, I guess the variety is really still there in the Asian servers.

Well done you! To finish more than half way up the field from last place is pretty good achievement.. To be honest I spent most of the time focused on staying on the track and not hitting anyone. I hope I didn't slow you down too much. I hadn't noticed you because of the extra bit at the front of your PSN and I thought you raced under a different flag. Next time I'll try to say "hi" pre-race :).

If you look at the top 10 you'll see almost 1 make, but at our level there's a good mix. People just race what they want.

Daily A at Monza is a lot of fun with the Lambo, especially in the no chicane layout. I noticed however that it's better to start at the back than at the front. The first race I competed in I started 9th and managed to finish third. I then set a quali time good enough for second place in my third race and got punted at the chicane before Lesmo and limped home in eighth.

No quali master race

Does the strategy of not qualifying before a race give you a better shot at gaining DR? I am a high B racer, only 1400 away from DR A. If i gain half the field from the back should my DR go up?

No.

The A race is a joke. Start from the front, tiptoe into first chicane, get battered from behind, get blocked or ran into for the rest of the race. Ridiculous.

I don't know what region you're in, but try the NSX. My qualy has me starting around the rear of the field.

I would have finished inside the top 10, had a Slophy not punted me at the final left hander. There was no overlap. Plus, I was nose to tail with the car ahead in the braking point. Nowhere for it to go.
Another Slophy went off at T1, turned back on the circuit and we collided. Weird that it didn't ghost.

Changed my main objective. I took the patience approach. I'm not passing unless I can overtake before the next corner. Meaning, if they aren't in control of the car, I stay behind. I've stayed behind players just to keep pace. Not too worried about the cars filling my mirror. They all can't pass both of us without taking one of us off. However, I don't block. If a car gets a run on me, I make room.

By now, I can read who is going to do what, most of the time. There are some knuckleheads. I'm not talking about those(and me) that make mistakes. Just players with that one focus of winning with that T1 mentality.

Race A today (Monza, no first chicane) was terribile. Rank C/S, polelap: 1:46:404. I tried five times. Five times pole, but only one win. The chicane is horrible. Just torpedo's everywhere. In one race I was pushed far off track a car reset placed my back in before the chicane at the last position.
And two races with a horrible driver. He pushed everyone off at the straights if you were driving next to him. The whole lobby was complaining afterwards. I haven't seen anything like that before. Just very unfair to win in such way.

My fifth victory, and arguably my best Sport Mode run came at the most ironic of places:

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20180728135153.jpg

Monza in its regular configuration in Sport Mode is like the apocalypse in racing game form. We can all agree on that. But with the Curva Grande as Turn 1, I actually enjoy it. It's on this configuration where you can actually see track limits being done right. It's immensely satisfying to lazily lean in to Curva Grande in 7th gear while your opponents are swerving around behind you off the track. Out of five attempts, I was only rammed off at the Roggia chicane once. This particular incident came in my poorest race of the five, when we were three-wide going into Lesmo 1 on the first lap :scared:. I finished 10th in that race. My victory came in the second attempt, while the first and fourth attempts saw me claim 2nd. The final attempt before I decided to pack it in was 6th.

Strangely enough, I would've had two victories instead of just one. The first race saw me and my closest rival break away from the pack on lap 2, initiating a back-and-forth battle. I thought that I had dealt the decisive blow when I out-braked him at Parabolica on the final lap, but he decided to fight dirty and T-bone me, resulting in him getting penalised. However, the game decided to magically waive his penalty come the end of the race. I don't know if this is a bug or what, but I was definitely cheated out of a victory.

Okay, now that I'm done waffling on about the track and the racing, I'm gonna talk about the car. I think I've found a Gr.4 favourite at last. It feels like the only Gr.4 car that 'trusts' me to handle it at TCS 0. The GT-R is a bit too sluggish to take full advantage of a tractionless setup IMO, and I can't feel any improvement in the FWD Gr.4 cars. It's so liberating to overtake opponents at the Ascari chicane by coasting through it in a higher gear than usual, and just slamming down on the power on the exit. I think I can see myself getting comfortable enough in it to dethrone the Megane.

Don't get pole on Monza, it's a death sentence! :scared:

I used Sven's method of not qualifying and gained 4,100 DR and 55 SR today. Still just DR B but went from SR C to SR S. That's fun coming from the back and not getting cheap shots the whole race.

It's always fun on Monza, start last, be halfway up the field after the first chicane simply by cruising through without a worry. The only track where it's a dangerous strategy is N24 (and Nordschleife). When over half the field doesn't qualify you're screwed. Stuck behind the slowest qualifier (if you're DR.A, you might have more success at DR.B to get further back) yet in front of likely a few people that have no clue where to brake for T1. If you survive that long, accidents start in the final corner.

I'm leaning towards Monza myself in a bit. Brand's GR.4 sounds so dull, but good to restore SR in case Monzilla gets me. First some pool time. I did my unqualified, zero assists, full dynamic weather with wind resistance simulation all in full HDR this afternoon. No contact, no penalties, clean race bonus. I chose a self powered 2 wheeler which has a much smaller hit box which helped. My lap time was 3h45 for just one 89km lap with 400 meters elevation change. It's going to be good to sit down with a controller later! Weekends are great if you ignore everything you should be doing

First Monza race, I get the ps4 started just in time to get in the race with 11 seconds to spare. Qualifying is already disabled, the warm up will have to do for practice. To my relief it's not sports tires, should be easy. I start 10th, pass a car that's slow off the grid, brake nicely with the cars in front of me for the chicane to get bumped from behind. Not matter, steer between the blocks using my free short cut for getting hit and come out in 5th.

However I have no clue where to brake for the chicane at top speed and I have a whole bunch of cars behind me while I'm in 4th. Not wanting to risk brake checking anyone I of course brake too late and get reset. drop to 8th. Next lap I have cars in front of me so I just closely follow them. I drop to 9th then get back to 7th as a dirty blocker takes out 8th. Then in lap 4 I'm alone and brake too late for the chicane again, 0.6 sec penalty, no biggie. Finish 7th. Still no clue where to brake. Another learning opportunity coming up!

Well, there was if I had pressed qualifying after entering the race doh, too late again :banghead:
Live practice is the best!

Got 3rd in the second race. Lot of red in the result screen, messy race. I got a neutral again for getting hit, no penalties this time. I got the braking point right!

I read here about Monza. Before going to sleep thought I give it a try. Started last and after the first chicane was already in 3rd. Indeed unbelievable passing 9 cars in one section. Got a 10s penalty but could sit that out and cruise to 4th position. Will never do this again though.
