Working in my Clean races fron last night.

That race B also helps. No qualy is keeping me away from trouble. However, Interlagos isn't much of a crash feast as some other tracks.

Why Honda decals on the Mazda?

Some very nice battles and some good driving to keep clear of the drama in the mid pack! @baldgye

I had a good race earlier today on Interlagos. Started 2nd and managed to take the lead with a beautiful overtake in lap 2.

Had a great week at Interlagos and scored some nice results. I just wish some more A+ guys would join every now and then because even though i only finished off the podium once with a 4th place i only gained around1500 DR all week. Really closing in on the DR cap now, did it all on Daily's but its getting really tough with all the high ranked players mostly running the FIA races. Next week i'll probably run Bathurst because its one of my favorite tracks but after that i am thinking i am gonna try the FIA stuff every now and then.

High Pressure:

I don't understand this anymore. Unraceable.

After been destroyed twice in Interlagos and had massive SR and DR drop down, I even broke with my rule not to use assists in order to ensure pole-and-escape- races.

With a 1.31.923 it garanteed in lower SR grids pole but I got rammed in further two races. In 1 other race P2 overtook me and I followed him on his rear bumper all the five rounds. In the straight once we had a minor tiny tap- contact with absolutely no consequences for anybody. And of course not any penalty displayed. I coudn't believe after the race that I lost 7 SR!!! No words.

Needed to do many wins or podiums to recover DR and SR to the same point as this morning.

Does anybody has similair experiences since update 1.23?

Not to argue, but I disagree with some of you folk about the SR. It’s completely whack lol.

Some races, I was getting the “clean race” star at the end of the race, but would have a red SR rating, and checking kudos, I was losing points.

You made contact with other cars during the race, either they bumped you, rubbed in a corner, graced your bumper, or you drove too close to other cars, it doesn't matter. Every time the game thinks you touch another car you lose SR. Keep a safe distance at all times to compensate for lag.

I’d have other races where I definitely got a penalty, either contact or off track, and my SR would increase at the end of the race.
A penalty for going off track doesn't cost you SR, it only costs you the clean sector gain for that sector which is only 0.25 at A, 0.28 at B and 0.2 SR at C this week (divide max SR gain by total number of sectors) at SR S.

And then there’s the races where I was jumping 20+ points up or down. I literally had one race where I went from 55 down to 21 from one contact, then the next race I went 5th to last to 5th, and went back up to 51 SR. Then the next race, get completely clean race, and only gain 5 points.

There were other contacts you either didn't notice or thought were irrelevant. max gain for race A is 5 this week, 7 for B and 9 for C (at SR S), plus completely clean doesn't mean contact free.

My kudos doesn’t show the full detail, but over the last week, I’ve gone from 99 to 41 to 71, then it shows back to 52, 57....but in between that 52 and 57, I was down to 33 and 21 SR after single races, and then would jump back up to the 50s after another single race.

The main thing I can’t figure out is why sometimes I gain/lose 20+ points in a single race, while other times I only gain/lose 1 or 2 points.

http://www.kudosprime.com/gts/stats.php?profile=6732576#dr

Losing 20+ points in a single race is easy. Bump a couple people, penalty or not, SR deductions are still the same. -10 SR for so much as brushing a wreck. -10 SR for bumping someone from behind in the braking zone. -5 SR from someone bump passing you.

Gaining 20+ points happens when your SR gets very low. At SR.B the SR you can gain gets multiplied by about 1.5. At SR.E it seems to be 3x the nomal maximum. At 21 SR you are in SR.D which will greatly boost your possible SR gains. You also lose less SR for contacts at low SR.

Record the race and check for contacts. It will all add up.

Had a mixed bag at interlagos this past few days, a win, several podiums and then back to banger racing. So infuriating. Still got a clean race bonus

First race at Interlagos today, I guess I'm starting too early. Force passed twice and got spun out in T1 on lap 3 yet managed to keep a blue S while everyone around me had red ratings. The one that spun me out quit the race. I went from last to 8 to 13 to 11, not boring anyway.

It's just amusing to me how people risk 5 to 10% of their SR (-5 to -10 SR for a bump pass) for gaining 0.1% of DR (80 points of 75K)

Next race was a standing start for the back half of the field. That was fun to see play out in T1 lol. I had one non qualifying Ford behind me which I let pass and watched him wreck 3 cars before quitting. Thanks for the positions! I finished 8th in the end, front half of the field was long gone thanks to the 'staggered' start. However clean race bonus back, driving the WRX tonight.

Are you guys racing to watch your SR score go up, or because driving racing sims is fun? From back here in the cheap seats, I'm confused... (DR C SR S)

I just race, because I'm still fascinated with "racing", using a computer/console game.
I see the green SR pointing up lately. Don't know how many points it gives me, but I remember seeing the orange one pointing down.
Orange down=bad.
Green up=good.
That's all I know.

Depends on what your idea of fun is. If you want to enjoy clean contact free battles with people of similar skill, then you do have to watch your SR. If you're fine playing bumper cars online then you can do whatever you want.

I'm confused after my last race. I have been saying to avoid all contact to keep your SR positive, yet in the following race I went off my normal racing style to try out some more aggressive moves. (I condensed the race to under 3 minutes, ffwd the contact free parts)

First, instead of hanging back, I follow closely in T1 and of course immediately run into a stalling car, almost come to a stop and make contact with last place as well. T4 I out brake 13th place who bumps me from the outside in the corner or at least gets so close all the contact indicators turn on. I out brake 12th place in T10 (sharp right before the last section) All contact indicators are on again, then he spins out on the curb right after and rams me off. So now I'm last 7.3 sec behind. Going great!

I catch back up, pass 15th, 14th crashes or gets bumped off, as I get stuck behind 13th. I decide to out brake him in T1 lap 5 (1:25 in the video). He squeezes me, contact again, 4 times where the last time he bumps me into a shortcut and I end up with a 1.229 sec penalty. Then I mess up in T4, didn't mean to attempt a pass there yet he brakes early and even though I'm trying to stay out of the way, contact again. We pass a ghost serving a penalty on the way to T6, now he's in 12th.
He leaves the door open in T6 , my cue to overtake yet he squeezes again for another contact, and again going into T7, after which he bump passes me in T8 with 2 contacts yet he's slow and is more focused on blocking now than racing and tries to push me off track going through T9 with another 6 contacts. In T10 14th place runs into me, another bump, while 12th place goes wide by himself.
So of course in T12 former 12th place punts me as hard as he can. Back to last, except the punter is still in the grass so I finish 15th expecting a red A at least for this race.

I get a clean race bonus and blue S

I counted about 22 contacts in that race, that's a record for me by far. No clue how I got away with that. I've been dropped to SR.A for being the victim of other people's mess with only a few contacts. Now I create the mess and I get the clean race bonus and blue S? I can't make much sense out of it except my lines are more steady than the other car. Or could it be the game does look at your history. Looking at the KP profile of the car that punted me, it's a wonder he's driving at SR.S at all. He dropped back to B from that race.

Although it seems the game is fine with making yourself look bad, I'll go back to my regular more careful contact free racing. I rather have a thank you for the clean race instead of a punt in the final corner :)

A few laps of defensive driving to hang on to a podium place.

The guy in the Lambo was much faster than me, but didn’t know how to use his speed at the right times to get past me.

When he did get past, I used the Valentino Rossi tactic of “always fight back” at the very next opportunity - don’t let the other guy get his rythem. If I wouldn’t have got the move done there, the Lambo would have been out of reach by the time we reached Dunlop.

I was driving in my mirrors probably a bit too much, which is why I was making a lot of mistakes and over driving the car, but I kept it together enough to put my car on the places of track it needed to be, when it needed to be there. A more aggressive driver would have got by, but after battling this guy all race, I knew he was quite timid and would not really stand his ground.

From a different race - sometimes situations dictate strategy for you

I ended up finishing 2nd overall, after having started the race in 8th. I also got dummied off the circuit earlier in the race by a Lancer, but still managed to get a clean race :)

Final report for Interlagos.

I did 4 more races, it was pretty dirty however 2 more clean races added to the pile. To make things more confusing after that race I posted above, in one race this negated the clean bonus, getting bumped off track for a 0.4 sec go wide penalty.
Vip1zgM.gif

I have had 0.8 sec go wide penalty there before and still got the clean bonus. I have been bumped off in many places and still got the clean bonus. Perhaps since he was D/S and I'm B/S, there's still discrimination on DR? Higher DR is assumed at fault? He did not get a penalty for bumping me off. Or perhaps I'm simply trying to find order in a random number generator... GTS is a car rpg after all, ten sided dice to determine who is at fault!

The last race was chaotic, watch for cross traffic! Mind the ghosts!
ngAASh3.gif

I guess the red car was testing out a new variation. Interlagos Hillside to be added soon?

Anyway here's the result of the last week, 59 clean races:
dMo7lDJ.gif

A couple early ones are on Big Willow, by far the most is on Interlagos, including a clean streak of 23.
Too bad the clean race star has lost a lot of its shine since the latest penalty changes.

Oh I forgot to qualify again, maybe next week. nah

Looking forward to DTS. Wonder how the Atenza will fair.
I can see the 86, Vantage, F-Type, SLS, Mustang, RC F, Huracan and 458 doing real well. However, I see the "OyVey"ron making a comeback. Along with the Megane RS and TT.

Have to say, you’ve done far more races there than me but nothing I experienced was like the clips you posted, people deliberately nerfing you and others off... I thought that had gone away...

Also was reminded by your clips and my own races, just how HORRIBLE the physics are in this game when cars make contact... it’s ridiculous

This. A 2 second penalty for taking the lead (seemed a good pass to me!) Then smashed off the track. Later whilst recovering got bundled off the track again and finished last. Dont know wether to laugh or cry

Yeah those guys were definitely not happy with your A+ divebomb and got revenge pretty quickly.

In general I don't share the same sentiment towards the new Penalty system. The racing at Interlagos the past week was one of the best I've experienced since I started racing online. The race being held for a week now could have something to do with it as well, as the other players get the know the track even more.
I had 8 consecutive clean races on Friday doing Interlagos. Was a great day.

Just raced the "Mazdeo". ;) Last 16/16 to 11th. Clean. 👍

Why did the player even bother with that '11? Hey, everyone can havec their favourites, but no challenge at this track. It always holds up the line.
Like the grid with variety. 👍 May see you in this week race:cheers:

I post too soon.
When I follow someone, I pick my line early. Then, I brake earlier in the heat of battle. I'm in a 3-wsy fight at end of lap 3. Me, Evo, RC F. We all make it through the chicane unscathed.
I stay yo the far left, plenty of room for the Evo to brake up the inside. The player saw how fair I was in the previous laps.
No. Smacks me straight off the track. I'll check the replay after two more races, but come on man. I love this track because how wide it is. Players can take multiple lines when dicing for position.

I just wanted that Clean #3. Boo hoo hoo. :sly:

Hi, first post here.
I'm a D-A driver with quite a lot of hours played but low improvement.

I'm training Race B (Dragon tail Litoral) with different cars. Veiron is fast but very difficult to control. My favorite for the moment is GT-R and yours? Which brake setup do you use?

I'm doing 1:49 high at the moment.

If you have issues with driving the car, try the Evolution. It's glued to the track and imo it's way underrated. i'm not pro by any means and still hit consistent 1.47.0x times with it.

Corner rights are a little bit different in GTS. It's sort of an unspoken rule, but divebombs like that are not accepted in general and are frowned upon. You're expected to pass only when you have overlap before you come into the corner. What the Ford GT did to you was wrong, but I can see where his frustration is coming from

Let's see your pass on him from outside of the car.

Maybe in that pass, the other player was escorted a bit off track. Meaning not enough racing room. From that view, the steering was pointed as showing an attempt to move more to the inner part of the track while the player being passed had no room to stay off the outside curb. From that in car view anyway...
