Maybe in that pass, the other player was escorted a bit off track. Meaning not enough racing room. From that view, the steering was pointed as showing an attempt to move more to the inner part of the track while the player being passed had no room to stay off the outside curb. From that in car view anyway...

There did seem to be contact, but it came well after the normal turn in for the corner... without an outside shot its impossible to know if the Ford missed the apex and then just turned into the OP or if the OP pushed him off the track...

Well, since I had more time than usual to play, I decided to take a leaf out of @Sven Jurgens book and summarise my performances. I didn't do as many races as he did, only managing 15, and leaving exactly half of the Gr.3 stable untouched. I only set two qualifying times for the time I played. If these results aren't any indicator as to why I call myself the Nick Heidfeld of GT Sport, then I don't know what is:

The Mustang, when in the right hands, can take the fight right to the GT. It's one of two cars out of the ones I've tried which can match the GT in both cornering speed and stability. Race number 7, in the Porsche, fittingly, was the race where I crossed back over into DR B, where I still currently reside (You may have noticed that because my door number suddenly started to rise). I came close to winning twice; once in the Alfa, which I had never driven in Sport Mode before, but I got pitted at Juncao, and once in the SLS AMG, which I found bloody quick and managed to get holeshot into T1, ahead of four GTs, but I cracked like an egg under the pressure and two of the GTs ate me alive on the last lap.

The first race back in DR B, welcomed me with open arms; and an opportunity to gamble with ghosts! Yay!

Mind you, this was SR S, and it only got worse from there. @05XR8, I feel your pain, because I've been there. The next race, I was matched with B/B and C/A drivers, possibly due to the ongoing revolt. That went exactly how you'd expect it to go, but I mostly managed to avoid the carnage and only picked up 3 seconds-worth of penalty for 'abusing' the track limits, and I saved myself from slipping out of the top 5 by stretching the gap to 6th just wide enough for the penalty to not make an impact on my final position. Pat myself on the back for that one. The AMGs definitely surprised me in how quick and stable they are.

The Ferrari and the Lamborghini are such a mission to drive, I can see why they're not a popular choice in the lower ranks! My word are they squirrelly. It's by sheer force of will that I managed to finish in the top half of the standings because you just cannot attack the curbs in these cars, even on TCS 2.

The Atenza was the most disappointing of the 15. It's incredibly slow and lazy, and it feels like it was neglected through all of the BoP changes to the other cars. It's not surprising that I finished 9th, the lowest finish, in an otherwise incident-laden race.

At around race 4, I realised something: I've been rammed/punted, screwed over by the penalty system, made silly mistakes, but in Gr.3, I've never been outclassed. This is what the pros have been saying all along. Before I attempted any of the races, I watched kie25's guide on Interlagos, and he basically explained that if you're consistently finishing high (3rd-8th) instead of pushing your hardest to win and making silly muck-ups in the process, then you're playing the game properly. Aside from the revolt that is currently happening which seeks to mess up the matchmaking, the system knows what it's doing, and only seeks to make you consistent instead of being a one-hit wonder that spins out every other race.

Corner rights are a little bit different in GTS. It's sort of an unspoken rule, but divebombs like that are not accepted in general and are frowned upon. You're expected to pass only when you have overlap before you come into the corner. What the Ford GT did to you was wrong, but I can see where his frustration is coming from
I disagree, the Ford is quick on the straights but the brakes are not as good, at Sainte-Croix my Audi was able to brake 20 or so metres later than the Ford's into the hairpin. It's about understanding each others cars I wouldn't weave about on the straight to hit anybody trying to pass in a faster car so they should look in their mirrors before blindly turning in on a car with better brakes. Divebombs are not always dirty moves.

As for this incident, its impossible to say from onboard.

Oh, I agree. I meant, "...the steering was pointed as showing NO attempt to move more to the inner part of the track...".

This. A 2 second penalty for taking the lead (seemed a good pass to me!) Then smashed off the track. Later whilst recovering got bundled off the track again and finished last. Dont know wether to laugh or cry

That's just Karma.

I'm interested to know what you mean by this. Last Friday, I was B/B. After a whole weekend in the Gr4. M4 on Race C Nurb GP (~10-12 races, all I had time for), I've dropped to C/C. I had a lousy quali time (2:09), but I was anywhere from 7th-11th on the grid. I always took the outside line for T1/Lap 1 to avoid the carnage, sacrificing around 4 places to avoid contact and SR deductions, then clawed my way back through being as patient as I could, trying to leave room for faster drivers, hanging on their rear bumpers and waiting for their mistakes, defending honourably where necessary (only 1 defensive blocking move, taking defensive inside line).

Best finish was 6th, average was about 9th, a couple at dead last. I was punted off by divebombers while in 7th or 8th in at least 2/3rds of all my races. And yet, I still can't make it out of SR C, when I used to be SR S for the longest time.

Just curious how this is "playing the game properly".

I was mostly talking about 'playing the game properly' with regards to DR, not SR. I admit that I was kind of giving myself the benefit of the doubt by saying that finishing as low as 8th is okay, since only finishing in the top 5 is what constitutes a positive DR accrual. What you say about SR I can't answer unfortunately, as there has been races where I've achieved a star for clean racing yet have seen my SR letter in red come the post-race menu. Their system is either damaged or they haven't given us the full story of how SR is gauged..

Fair point. Divebombs are indeed not dirty moves if done correctly. Look at Ricciardo, arguably the poster boy of excellent divebombs. The problem I see though is that in Sport mode, divebombs are often done incorrectly and only reach an overlap once turn-in is achieved, which is beyond the entry of the corner. Perhaps I was too general with my earlier statement

I can say though that regardless of whether contact is made or not, he only got an overlap once they started turning in

Yeah this is something I ran into quite a lot (and you can see in my video a page or two back (at 11:20 ish)), different cars have different strengths but I think its more down to the drivers. Into T1 I was getting over lapped by a chap in a Ford braking way later than I was in the Audi, but at T3 I surprised myself and the chap in front with how much later I was able to brake.

But I agree, I also don't like that the OP only showed us onboard of his move, but showed us two shots of the Fords clearly frustrated retaliation.

People, please stop trying to overtake in T4. It's just never clean. Most of the time the guy in third gets the jump on you both.

Why not show your pass from different views?

We are not easily fooled

Same. And I shift only 2 times for 4th gear. In the main traight (after the slow left turn) and before the last turn. All the rest on 3rd...
Try using 4th through the 2 right handers at the start of sector 4, seemed to work for me

Well looking forward to some Ferrari 250 GTO racing for the rest of this week and currently best time is a 1:40.657 but might
be able to go quicker.

For the mountain (Race C) I've got a time of 2:06.938 but is the Ford GT quicker than the Mustang this time round, not been able
to check the difference yet?

That's what I do.

Currently in the 37.4, I think it's not so bad using only 2 gears lol

EDIT: Here is my lap (green in 3rd and red in 4th)

Hmm I've been going down to 3rd at the right hander before the penultimate but yeah other than that it's the same lol. Quite a weird way to go around a track but it is what it is

Practing for race c on the circuit experience. Might just stick with the McLaren for the races, it’s not too bad with -3 brake bias.

It's good to be back at Dragon Trail for race B, first time in 3 months. Ran a few test laps and managed to get a 1.45.781 - a good marker to start with :D:D

Which car were you using out of interest?
