Had a race with mostly A+ and A drivers like me. I was definitely surprised with some performances. No doubt, could be the players skills.

I walked away from an R18, that I shadowed for the first two laps. Pitted with 9%. I saw a car with 24%. How? I don't know. A C9 was ahead of me at pit exit and left me in the dust. Then, the Citroen behind me, was getting a tow, but I gapped it at the magic 3 seconds and walked away from that too.
Finished in top 10 with the whole field, but me, given red dot specials.

Oh yeah, This, was never going to be a to 5 finish.

All players were quick. A couple spun out in my battle pack, but some cars were quick and some were holding players up, myself included in both performances. I think many get the hint about patience. Except and SLS that started last. It stayed way back from the first lap battles. Then, gained on the field with corner speeds compromised by cars fighting.

It passed me until the last lap. At the first uphill esses, it just got too impatient and tried to capitalise on a Vantage's mistake. When the SLS went up the inside, the Vantage was still trying to correct and they both took each other out. If only the SLS used the patience it showed earlier.

I can't get below a 1.59.5 at maggorie but keep getting thrown into rooms with 2 to 4 guys running 57's. I can just sort of keep up but not close enough to consider a pass.

did the 12:30 and 1:00 races. Didn't see you in the second one @Sven Jurgens did your SR drop below 90? I ended up in the gravel in both races but still came home in like 5th and 3rd. If you use the R18 with short shifting it can easily make 3 laps. Taking tires is a mistake, the pace is just fine without. In fact I set my fastest lap on Lap 4 or 5 in the race that i didn't take tires (sven that's how i jumped you in the pit).

I was mistaken, was posting on here during the 1am race.

The R18 '16 version needs about one lap in fuel map 2 with AT. I've always been taking tires so far for comparison sake. People always jump me in the pit since I drive AT :) Give the 908 HDi a try. I set my best times in that, great on fuel and drives well with stock settings. I was passing 919's with that, however I still set a better best lap in the 919 myself. The 919 is so easy to drive on Sarthe and it has most to gain from drafting on the straight.

The R18 '16 was the second car I tried so I wasn't as dialed in to the track yet, should give it another shake after I try out the remaining cars.

That's kinda the situation I was often in. I don't want to slow down till my braking point, so I reach my braking point just after I've passed. I'm passing on the inside, but rather than moving to the outside where I want to be to turn in. I keep that car width on the outside because I know that as soon as I brake, they will shoot past me on the outside and cut across my bow. It does make it more difficult to make the turn at the shallower angle. Probably would be better to reign it in and make the turn comfortably to keep close enough to get them on the next high speed section rather than spin out or end up in the sand :scared:.

Indeed, much safer. If I can't get a few car lengths ahead before the braking point I'll wait until the next straight. They'll either shoot by on the outside or the inside, if not through you :)

For example at the first chicane on the straight you have the distance marker, then 2 red dressed guys then the green guy(s) standing on the left at the wall. With GR.C I pretty much have to start braking right after the distance marker. In the 919 I can wait until after the green dude. Huge difference.

Matchmaking seems to weird out like that, if there's not enough of people with same sr, it goes for those with fastest times + whatever is left.

Hey I think we had this same disagreement last time we did Gr.1 @ La Sarthe. I’ve been driving the R18 ‘16 for 3 full laps just fine on auto, fuel map 1, then filling up to 1.9 and finishing the race on fumes. I won a race with you in it last night, if you have the replay to verify.

even if you dont see it ,even it doesnt give you penalty , but almost every little tap removes 1 SR pt

What are your lines like in the uphill right hander after the straight, and also the double right towards the end of the lap? I couldnt crack 1.59 until I tried some different lines in the jaguar to get close to my Ford GT time in the 1.57s. I've yet to have a go in the Ford armed with this, hoping to get into the 1.56s.

I found a chunk of time in the double right, sweeping in and braking much deeper than I had been. Made for a better exit towards the left/downhill left onto the start finish straight.

The uphill right, sweeping in on the brakes, kiss the apex and as much throttle as the car will handle all the way out to the rumble strip and on towards the esses I think is good, I've tried a variety of ways through this corner, both combined took me from high 1.59s to low 1.58s with more to come I think. In the jaguar anyway. I like the way it handles.

Wow, I wonder what makes the difference? I use auto too, have to run one of the first 3 laps in the R18 at fuel map 2, and then need 2.2 laps worth of fuel at the pitstop to get to the end! I still always end up finishing in a position lower than my starting position too....

I’m pretty confused by this, but not going to complain

Fuel use also comes down to driving style. If you're heavy on the gas and brake, vs a most flowing and coasting line it will make a big difference on usage and tire wear.

Has anyone tried to no-stop yet? I think the Tomahawk has the best fuel economy?

Odd, this is my data for the R18 '16

20:30 Audi R18 '16 (R18 '16) pit 2, 31% -> 100% 40.107, ?% left, dirty
20:30 S19/D08/F18 19:09.DNF (17:47.085) 3:41.337 (3:24.669) DR 34919 (-1304) SR 86 (-6)
21:00 Audi R18 '16 (919 Hybrid) pit 3, 4% -> 70% 39.656, 5% left, dirty, 1 lap fm2
21:00 S17/D08/F07 18:32.484 (17:49.427) 3:29.623 (3:24.997) DR 34820 (-99) SR 89 (+3)
21:30 Audi R18 '16 (919 Hybrid) pit 3, 7% left -> 67% 38.723, 2% left, dirty, 2 laps fm2
21:30 S15/D10/F07 18:29.838 (17:52.768) 3:28.030 (3:27.520) DR 34534 (-286) SR 89 (0)

I was down to 31% entering the pit after 2 laps in my first race. The difference might be, the races I did with the Audi were on the first day, still very chaotic and I probably got bumped off a few times burning extra fuel to get back up to speed. The first race I got timed out so I must have been punted off a couple times. The other two I was already fuel saving, so I should give it another try without!

Another difference is, when you start from the back, lap 1 you're passing wrecks and don't have all that much to draft. Plus you start further back, more distance to drive. When you qualify behind someone with a closer pace, you draft a lot more, thus save fuel.

Actually the data backs you up as in my third race I leave the pit with 67% and have 2% left, 65% for 2 laps, I should make it 3 laps with 100%.

Tuning the car could maybe also save fuel? (or make it worse)

Correct, Tomahawk performed best so far fuel wise, very fast as well

15:00 Dodge SRT Tomahawk (919 Hybrid) pit 3, 15% -> 57% 36.348, 1% left, mostly clean
15:00 S14/D07/F03 18:18.395 (17:54.877) 3:27.817 (3:26.453) DR 26932 (+704) SR 99 (+)

15% left driving flat out in fm1 in AT. 56% for the last 2 laps, 28% per lap or so. That still needs quite a bit of saving to reduce 140% to 100%.

3:27.817 is not my best time for a best lap yet pretty close. 18:18 is a good finish time for me as well. (Between () is who won the race)

I’ve only been pitting after 3 laps and the fuel meter is always at 6-7 before filling. I’ve managed a pretty good Qualy time at 3:22.3 so I’ve been starting in the top few each race, but oddly enough have not been able to take advantage of much slipstream. 2 wins in 5 races here and top 5 every other is pretty good for my standards so I’m gonna race a bit to see if I can hit A+ this week.

Side note: there’s too much cutting allowed now on this track.

I had a japanese fellow a couple of days ago do it...was using either the lm55 or the other fast vgt..ill check when i get home.

I've now switched to the TS050, and have been no stopping with that - made up 5 or 6 places in nearly every race so far! I'm never going to win, given that I usually start in p12 or 13, but at least I'm moving forward.

I still think that 908 is hard to beat, but it is rarely used. You could do whole race on one fuel tank with map 1. I usually need 110l of fuel per race, getting 8-10 sec advantage in pit and doing in race laps 3:24s...

Nearly every race has turned into a wreck fest tonight, best finish was 4th at Maggiore. Never left SR 99 though, becoming increasingly dismayed that DR losses are going hand in hand with maintaining my SR, it doesn’t help that I’m being matched with some of the fastest drivers in EMEA.

Maybe you two are using different transmission tunes. I thought I read Sven runs stock.

I’m actually using Minkihl’s tune, but not the transmission. I changed it to adjustable, then only adjusted the top speed to fit the track. His tune also has less downforce than stock and stiffer bars. Been picking up wins all day with this beast, probably 5 or 6 outta 10 now. It helps that other people are making mistakes too, lol.

Well i just did the dumbest thing ever.... :banghead:

I had some time to play so thought i'd give MINKIHL's setup a try and practice for race C at la Sarthe. I entered qualifying, or so i thought, and started copying his setup. Halfway trough the screen goes black and i am like :confused: the words appear "joining session" WHAT NOOO ?! i accidentally joined a race instead of qualifying... :banghead:

I dont really like la Sarthe as a circuit and never played any sports mode on it yet. I also only did like a handfull of laps in a stock tune early this week and did no warm up lap what so ever before joining so at this point i know i was screwed.

The lobby showed up and it was full of A+ A and S drivers, i started 14th. I just tried to stay out of anybody's way while trying to remember the braking points and lines and not make any mistakes (wich i inevitably made of course) Didnt take long before i was in last place... finished 43 seconds off the lead dead last 12.5 seconds behind the next contender.

At least i managed to not crash out anyone. Other then that it was really awfull. Lost 2200 DR with this mistake.

Nice race man, really nice half an hour ago... :) looking forward to seeing you again

Regain it quick on lake maggie ;) what's your race pace on it btw? I struggle to go below 1.56!

That could explain it, less down force, faster with less force needed, less fuel needed. Changing the top speed also changes the gears which could mean different revs on the long straight which makes a big difference in fuel use.

The Audi R18 '11 however, that one was down to 22% after 2 laps. No way I could make it 3 laps without fuel saving. Actually to give me a 'power' lap in lap 2 for best lap time I ran fm4/fm1/fm4 which left me 3% when pitting in lap 3. My 'best' lap in the '11 was only 3:30.262 vs 3:28.030 in the '16. Plenty room for improvement on the '16 cause I didn't get an unobstructed lap in, Monday was a mess. I'll retest the '16 version yet I'll stick to stock to keep the comparison with the other cars fair. I should make it in fm1 though if I don't get punted off.

While Audi improved, Nissan is quite the opposite. In the R92CP stock version I managed 3:28.762 in race, the GT-R LM Nismo 3:37.209 at best.

Nah really needed to practice la Sarthe if i ever want to get competitive there. I am still struggling round there, some corners are quite tricky and because there is so few you really need to master them for a good laptime. At 3:20.5 right now so still a few seconds short. Not really liking the track limits either (what track limits ?)

I only did 1 race at Lago Maggiore this week ran high 1:56 but there was some battling and some small mistakes so not sure really.

Been working on my time at Maggiore.

Came across this video of driver named Tursimo_ Dr.K. I found it helpful to watch.

"joining session" WHAT NOOO ?!
:lol:
I was in that race, lol

like I said yesterday, today I did 3:18:003
at this moment I'm on 4th place in EU ...with automatic gearbox :lol:
crazy stuff like track limits on that course

Ive been running the group c cars this week but tonight and tomorrow will probably be time for some hybrid action. Didnt do much qualy last couple of days apart from in the 787 I did 2 laps and the fastest lap was going to be in the 3.21s but went out in a blaze of glory at the end of the porsche curves. Ended liking the Jag the best of the group c cars and the 3.23 in that is my fastest so far thinking with a 919 or R18 I can drop somewhere in the high teens.

Getting matched with a lot of guys with top 10 times in Asia/pacific is leading to a bit too much mid pack nonsense in the group c cars, lots of guys swerving at me as im going past on the straights.

Having some fun game in race B.
Look at this video. I’m conflicted over this move and as the end result was that the other drive got sideways, I should not have pushed it like this.
BUT the game gave me no penalty, a clean race and SR and DR gain.
So whatever algorithm is the judge, this was a clean move.. discuss ...
