WOW the track penalties are very lenient... this guys goes wide in a number of places, fully 4 wheels off track on corner exit and cuts the hell out of a few corners yet no time penalties! for me, this lap time is not valid. but sport mode appears to accept it.

He got maybe in total 1 sec of penalty, but it is served during braking zones, it works that way when setting time for race, in race however, you cannot serve those that easy, basically, you'll need to slow down most of the time.

I got lap time with 908 3:22 and there is still places to improve it, and I got 2x penalty around 0.4s, that were served till the end of the lap without a problem...

In replay penalties don't show up, and when you drive alone, car doesn't go invisible...

Every single one is cutting those corners, because penalties can be served throughout a lap...

Never played a racing game that has done track limits properly yet, then again they can barely get it right in real life either.

The frustrating part is, PD has already done it right the first time around save for the final chicane

Agreed if they had of just fixed the cut at the final chicane I would have been happy. The strict track limits were good despite the conplaining at least it wasnt like now with everyone making it up as they go along.

I did a 3.23 in the jag before I even realised the track limits have changed after seeing a few videos of fast laps I did a 3.21 on the final lap of my last race.

Jesus, the track limits are horrible currently. Top 10 times prove it all.
And I'm wondering how i don't get that R18 faster than 3;25.

During the race however, I always seem to get a penalty at Indianapolis to Arnage for absolutely no reason. (Even after checking the replay, I didn't cut anywhere).

Let's hope that it gets fixed soon, and also the Group C bop

(PS. To that one spanish driver that I've met in my second race, XIX_Rambo_XIX or something, It would be very nice if you would stop brake checking, hitting and slamming everyone into the wall. If you can't behave yourself, then how did you even get the SR S?

Back in the saddle again. Gr3-put effort into qualifying and it paid off. Got to start up front at P2.
Good racing for the most part. Got very aggressively passed with side contact turn 4 and already lost one spot in turn 2. Made a good run through the fast sweepers and walked by the guy who bumped me on the straight.
Running p3 lap 3 again turn four same guy gives a bump to my right rear and I go wide...Saved it even though I have been running alfresco with only abs weak. Prob was not only did bump man get guy the next fella did also.
Last lap last section I am all over gifted spot guy but trying to get his inside before the last turn I slid the back end a bit and got squirrely. Fun race but one of those where pace was even enough overtaking was tough.
Watched the replay and it was obviously deliberate use of contact that upset my car enough to get by but not enough to incur a penalty. I am just gonna go back to a little electronic assistance for the duration in these next few. Looking at times, I’m good in that car just gotta avoid cheaters. He knew full well if he didn’t get by me there I was gone. All good! Another day another race. Diggin it.
Prolly switch to Tsukuba at some point love that track but don’t know about that car. Gotta see if it drives decent.
I don’t get along with awd in general.

I just looked and I gained DR and SR even though I lost a spot! Woohoo. I’d easily say it’s better to gain dr before the race starts with a proper mentality towards qualifying as opposed to risking mistakes from the entire field.
Start last and you are giving away rating for free.

I'll admit, I was half bored. Then, I did a couple Gr. 3 Single Races at St. CROIX. Got me back into the flow and that's when I jumped in the Gr. 1 races.

I find in my region the lower DR grids have the most variety. Once people get up in DR, the more homogeneous the car choice.

That's pretty much the same thing in NA, lower SR.S rooms are mostly B/S to D/S. Currently it's A+/S to D/S again lol. Only 15 in the 1 am race (est)

I'm almost done testing GR.1 already, 2 or 3 cars to go. I'm still aiming to stay within the old track limits, no cuts to keep things even, yet a little slip that goes unpunished can happen. Penalties don't affect lap times anyway until you serve them and most disappear during the race... If you want to farm fastest laps, go nuts on Sarthe...

I'm pretty confident to say which is the worst car, Nissan GT-R LM Nismo, I could not get a better lap time than 3:37.209 in three races yet the worst thing is the tire wear.

Lap 3 you pretty much have to crawl through the Porsche curves. I dare you not to change tires in that car!

Actually I had even worse lap times in the Bugatti VGT, 3:38.166, which also had longer pit times. However it was still better to drive than the Nismo. The Nismo is twitchy at high speed, with complete steering lock under acceleration.

It will be hard to get used to slower speeds again after all this GR.1 racing. I also can't remember what a clean race looks like It's generally not purposefully dirty, mostly bad judgment and reckless driving. I have only seen one room with all blue ratings and there was still plenty contact in that one.

I've also seen the other side now of 919 vs GR.C. It is hard to avoid the 'early' brakers. The 919 has the latest braking points of all the cars, GR.C the earliest. Very annoying when a GR.C car overtakes at the last moment then slams the car in front of you and immediately starts braking 50 meters or more before your braking point. I never move over the last moment, always leave room!

I got 3:19:0XX (and definitely with chances for 1 more sec less, I will try again tomorrow) but I'm not proud of myself because I abused those track limits too, like the rest of top leaderboards and I always hated abusing of track limits but there is no chance to be competitive on that course with "clean" driving
but to be honest, previous restrictions were worse because penalties were even for driving on a normal racing line

but from positives, I love tuning and this brought me back to live in this game, really
now weekly rotation finally makes sense - there is time to learn track, time to tune car for your preferences and finally time for racing in a car that suits your style and that is just a lot more enjoyable (those basic tunes are awful in 99% cases, riding without tuning is simply unpleasant)
and I'm not master of tuning, I'm fine if someone do faster tune and I hope people finally will start thinking similarly
people should finally understand fact that tuning is a part of racing and racing without tuning not means equal chances for everyone because for one guy oversteer car will be like a heaven, for other not - with tuning you can do what you want with any car and in game like GT where you have very limited options to tune it is really not that hard to understand what to do to improve car behavior, but y'all just need to show a little willingness to understand this process

I hope tuning will stay for next weeks in race C, and hope for gr3 on a cool track for next week
with tuning of course

did the 12:30 and 1:00 races. Didn't see you in the second one @Sven Jurgens did your SR drop below 90? I ended up in the gravel in both races but still came home in like 5th and 3rd. If you use the R18 with short shifting it can easily make 3 laps. Taking tires is a mistake, the pace is just fine without. In fact I set my fastest lap on Lap 4 or 5 in the race that i didn't take tires (sven that's how i jumped you in the pit).

That's kinda the situation I was often in. I don't want to slow down till my braking point, so I reach my braking point just after I've passed. I'm passing on the inside, but rather than moving to the outside where I want to be to turn in. I keep that car width on the outside because I know that as soon as I brake, they will shoot past me on the outside and cut across my bow. It does make it more difficult to make the turn at the shallower angle. Probably would be better to reign it in and make the turn comfortably to keep close enough to get them on the next high speed section rather than spin out or end up in the sand .

I second trying the Hyundai Genesis Gr.3. Decent speed, friendly, predictable handling, very stable under braking (and trail braking). Great car, very underrated! I'm impressed. Never thought I'd be diggin' a Hyundai!

Finally I did it, not sure how many races I took in the end, but I got my 1st win at Le Sarthe

I wanted a win there so bad since it was added, got a bit lucky as most of the other drivers in that race were running a pretty slow pace for some reason as was mainly B/B racers, still a good result and pushed my driver points above 21000. Can finally stop race C and give one of the other 2 a pop...

I only just noticed tonight that tuning was open for Daily A(?)& C this week - which makes me feel a little better about being 12 seconds off the pace at Le Mans a couple of nights ago.

However, when I attempt to make any settings changes to my Toyota TS050 from the qualifying time trial section the game refuses to let me save & exit the settings page, telling me there is a settings violation. It doesn't tell me specifically which of my changes is against the regulations, and I got bored after about 5 mins trial and error tweaking things to see if it would let me save. Basically I changed the transmission, altered ride height and stiffened the suspension. Anybody know what I did wrong?

Then the Daily Race A - it says settings open, but everything is greyed out and can't be altered. Is that just a mistake?

Race A is closed settings, the website generally does not show the correct details for the races so can't be relied on, so only brake balance/
tcs etc, it's a stock one make race so fixed settings.

I had the gearing lengthened on the Group C cars. I did that by changing the setting in arcade mode time trial with BoP on. The settings I had for the time trial were kept for Race C. Speaking of which.....

I gave Race C another go, this time with the R92CP, despite my previous bad experience. Driving the other two Group C's had helped. I shaved about 1/10 off my Sauber time, and qualified P12 . The first 2 positions were DR/A, P3-P11 were DR/B, a couple of Bs, Ds and a C behind me, and behind them with no qualifying time, an A, B and C. Full grid of 20. Let the mayhem begin! There was a guy in P5 running a Sauber, the only other Group C. I wished them luck. In the end I did decided to post a warning that I'd be braking early in pre-race.

The race starts and I'm surprised that I'm still P12 by the time we hit Mulsanne and no one ran me off the track. I picked up a position on the strait, but just couldn't quite catch P10. I'd get close but then we hit corners and I was almost keeping up. Watching the replay, the guy behind me was having all kinda of trouble trying to get past me, and just when he was in position, we'd hit a strait and I'd pull away .

He fell back and I was being harassed by a guy in a 787B. A few times he got ahead of me but then I'd get ahead of him on the outside as I was turning. I thought all was good and my passes were clean, but looking at the replay, I was constantly in his way on many of the corners and on those occasions where he did get ahead briefly, I'd get ahead on the outside cut across him. The reason I looked at the replay was because on the final lap he was coming up on the outside, when he got a 2/3 overlap with a car's width gap between us (ie, enough room for 3 cars side by side), he rammed me with the front corner and slammed me off the road. I didn't know the cause of his road rage so I wanted to see how I'd slighted him. Turns out one time when I'd turned in front of him there was contact and he ended up in the sand. I'm guessing he'd had enough .

The punt aside from slowing me down unsettled the car and I ended up in the sand and loosing a place. The race timed out with me in P12. He ended up with a red SR. As for the guy running the Sauber, he finished 2nd .

So the end result. SR remained 99, DR went up by more than 300. Another day above DR 1 .

Just spent an hour hot lapping with the AMG and managed to get 1.57.077. Maybe that might get me a safer grid position to avoid the mid pack carnage. Maybe I'll try another race tomorrow and see what happens.

I managed to improve my QT time by .3 and now I am starting Maggiore races in the top 5. I have now run 4 or five races making plus or minus 1 or 2 spots and I make up dr points every time. Amazing how much difference that small qt difference makes !!

Thanks, actually I don't look at the website - it is listed as open settings in the game itself. I figured it was just a mistake. The race C tuning issue is more annoying.
