Did Tsukuba which I’ve won at before in the street cars. Battling in seventh with guy hot on me for maybe 3 laps. I was gaining bit by bit on 6th
Ultimately unable to close. Surprised at the times being as quick as they were. Guess people were practicing all week OR I suck with awd.
They should toss in a rally once in a while. The ultimate challenge to get a clean race!

Judging by how many people are diveboming and coming into turns hot, I’m guessing the times coming down has a lot to do with people finding out you can brake much later in this car and use that to your advantage. Controlling the car under breaking and doing it at the perfect moment is another story though, as I’ve seen firsthand with how many crashes there have been tonight.

Here's my lap if you're willing to give a bit of advice :O

These types of laps are tough, as you have the lines right, so it is just down to refinement. Law of Diminishing Returns indeed.

Turn 2 you seemed late getting on the power.
Turn 4 you were too early on the brakes, hesitated on turn in and cost you some speed as you corrected yourself.
Turn 5 missed the apex a little.
Turn 9 (exit of the left/right/left combo) too much sliding on exit cost speed down the straight.
Turn 16 (final right corner of the lap) late on the power and not maximising the road width.
Turn 18 I think there is more speed through that final corner to be found. Marginal call, I have never driven the lexus.

In general there seemed to be a bit too much steering lock which caused a bit of trouble coming out of corners and causing corrections. Maybe try to focus more on exit speed and accelerating sooner rather than entry/mid corner speed, although you have to do this while losing only the smallest amounts of entry speed, really tough to do.

Hope this helps as it is really nitpicking.

That’d make a good topic. Braking and transitioning the car from braking to throttle/entry vs exit speed etc. Ross Bentley talked a lot about braking in his Secrets of Speed (pretty sure) book. It wasn’t what I first thought.
Lots of good concept in there and well explained.
What he said definitely applies to that car at Tsukuba, or at least I thought so.

@Alpha Cipher
Are you still using a controller waiting for your wheel setup to return?
All I can see is a couple corner exits you get a little loose and your inputs look like they could be a little smoother.

The big question is if Race C allows for custom setups?

This basically sums up my week at Race B Maggiore in the Hyundai Genesis Gr.3. I started as C/C, made it up to B/A, then dropped back to B/B. The racing at SR A was actually pretty good and relatively clean. But one or two mistakes sends you crashing back to SR B or C, and it's so tough to get out. I started without qualifying at the beginning of the week, then qualified towards the weekend. Best finish was 3rd, average was 7th-5th. I have a suspicion I coulda finished a lot better without being taken out unfairly...but that's racing, isn't it?

Thank you for the advice! :D
NoSOH I'm using a G29. In what order do you think my inputs are rough? From roughest to smoothest, so I know where to prioritize my stuff. I'm guessing it's throttle, steering, and then brakes?

Lionface thank you for the detailed advice! For T2 (or I think in general) I need to have my pedal inputs smoother, since I find myself losing control of the rear a bit and losing some tenths when I open throttle earlier. Maybe the steering input as well :)

I find it extremely hard to be smooth with G29, especially with steering. That thing is wobbling and kicking back in most unnatural ways.. And don't get me started on pedals.
I think you got 99,99% out of it lol.

I constantly find G29 drivers smoother and faster than me so there's a way to be smoother with that wheel no matter the difficulty :D
Gonna try and find that last 0.01% of smoothness out of that wheel ;)

Put lowest ffb on g29 and start to learn how to drive smooth. The dual motor g29 is really powerful tool.

Play with quality headphone and only hear engine sound and tire squeeling..turn off bgm and lower down transmission noise

tuning is a miracle for me
without I can't compete even with medium guys (basic setups are awful in most of cars, which results 0 motivation for me to drive in that crappy cars)
with I'm on fire  even if I'm not top of the top driver
I did 33 races on Sarthe, got 31 poles and 21 wins (and like +25k of DR points, got 48k right now, so close to A+)

Hmm I do have the torque set at 10 on my G29. Maybe lowering it down to 6 or 4 might help?

Sound settings wise I've already done. I've increased tire screeching the highest I can to better hear the tires

So in other words Alpha, "Get gud".

That’s a great video, it emulates my experience on maggiore this week. Unfortunately every one of those encounters will lose you SR, a couple of points each race and you’re in a world of pain! I’ve dropped from a steady 99 streak to SR:B :(

After watching your lap again a couple times, I wanna say you actually have very nice smooth motions. At first glance I think I was surprised at the speed of your steering, but everything seems purposeful and to the point. Sometimes maybe you change direction in your inputs too quickly . Like just after the apex and sometimes you are searching for the angle to come out of the corner and thats delaying you from throttling out for a couple milliseconds.
Very nice driving though, what do I know I still havent even broken the 1:57 line yet. Maybe given some time to actually play today I feel like I could get below 1:56. So Im sure you should be able to beat that by at least a second.

I noticed reducing torque to 4 and under gets rid of that annoying clipping and makes things a bit smoother, definitely not a wrestling match like on higher levels:lol:

It's the ffb sensitivity that the tricky part. I changed around a bit few days ago and can certainly feel some difference, not as good as I want it but smoother for sure.

Thanks for the input! (See what I did there?)
I do not mind if your lap times are slower than mine or anything, any advice is greatly appreciated and I value them as much as the other :)
Me changing my angles mid-turn is an interesting note. I haven't noticed this myself so I'll have a lookout for that habit next time

Torque 4 is is then :D
I thought in general sensitivity 10 is the way to go, since it's what gives you most feel for the track. Does it cause clipping? I feel like that's what you're describing, but not too sure about it

From what I understood in that g29 thread, go too high with sensitivity and it gets unrealistically sensitive to road state, too low and it's too dull. I had it at 10 too but felt it's transferring stuff that shouldn't be there. Certainly personal thing, I'd say set it as you like it.
It's ffb torque (the setting above sens.) that makes the wheel "fight back", but on g29 it just grinds over gears inside and makes those clipping sounds after 4, doesn't really fight back as much after certain level (although I wish it did), just hopps over gears inside.
Makes me bit scared it's gonna break lol:lol:
Bit constructive OT here haha

Thanks! Appreciate it. I had such a hard time building SR to 76, was trying to claw my way back to S, but one or two incidents beyond my control dropped my back to less than 50 SR. I tried hanging at the back, avoiding incidents, letting rough drivers pass, just about everything... SR is so fragile, and I'm not thinking so much about DR a lot of the time. I was in SR A briefly, and the quality of racecraft from other drivers was definitely better. But I didn't stay in SR A for long...

I'm starting with the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to stay away! I'm starting with the man in the mirror. If you want to make the world, a better race, take a look at yourself and use the ... braaaakes! Yes guys, gals and others, PD has gifted me one last chance to give Group C a burl. Time to feel the powa! Rotary powa that is! For some reason I thought the update only gave us 3 group C cars, as bizarrely ignorant as that seems. If it walks like a duck, and it talks like a duck... yeh I just didn't realise the zoom zoom 787B was group C . After spending some creds and a murder makeover, I threw the Mazda onto la Sarthe. I got within the same 1/10 time bracket as my fastest qualifying with Group C so didn't feel guilty using the qualy that I had. Started P10/15. I think interest in Race C is wearing off. Another reason why I'm not a fan of weeklies. Mixed DRs and Mixed SRs. This was the first race where I'm seen anything close to META, namely the Porsche.

I survive the opening saga unscathed and make it to Tertre Rouge with a drop to P11 then back to P10 along the way. For me the best way around the corner is to go wide, drop from 4th to 3rd with no brakes and coast briefly and as soon as the apex is lined up, Fred Flintstone the throttle. The rest is up to that screaming rotary. Was hard going trying to make ground on the strait. Tuning has helped the hybrids. Caught up to the 3 cars ahead of me at the Mulsanne corner. By the time I got to Porsche I was in P7, but had to go wide because a muppet was going to take me out if I didn't and finished lap 1 P8. Despite his better braking I nearly ran up the back of said muppet at the first Mulsanne chicane. Good thing I was in a mellow mood :p. Passed him before the second chicane ( quite some distance before the braking zone @Sven Jurgens :sly:) and was gifted by being rear ended by him and fighting to make it through the chicane without taking anyone else with me. I made it and came out in P7 but was promptly passed by a Porsche, with whom I swapped positions with a couple of times. He made his move at Arnage, along with the Porshe behind him. The second Porsche couldn't make it stick and got me in the second half or Porshe esses. Exciting isn't it? The muppet was behind and knocked me wide at the corner just before Corvette as he barged his way through. I barely managed to avoid the sand and get it under enough control to make Corvette . That left the lime green missile from last night right up my arse till Mulsanne.

People were pitting so I jumped from P10 to P7. The green Tomahawk was right up me till the run from the first chicane to the second when he disappeared. I had an 18s lead when I hit pit lane. Takes that long just to get to changing tyres :odd:! I dropped to P10 when I hit the track, with a green SR instead or an orange one under auto drive! That's the position I maintained till the finish. Race timed out while I was mid way through the last chicane. Finaly! A race where I didn't spin out or end up in the sand! Whoohoo! And the muppet? He finished 2 positions ahead of me with a big fat red SR and 3 positions down from where he started.

Here's a gift from probably my last race with group C:
Gran Turismo™SPORT_20180826224503.jpg

I'm afraid you can't see the black "Fujiwara Tofu" sign on the side . I hit the clipping point bang on!

SR still 99, DR went up about 20 despite finishing 2/3 of the way down. No spin outs or trips to the sand.. check! No drop in SR.. check! A gain in points... check! I call that a win! Even with a slightly broken race match the system still kinda works :dopey:. Another day above DR 1 :D.

I had a great night on Sarthe with 5 wins thanks to qualifying. It didn't all go smooth though, the front can be just as rough as the back. The difference is, in the back it's more likely for someone to hold back after they bump you off, at the front it's always hit 'n run.

First the best overtake by a dirty driver.
fwbi0fh.gif

I'm going on the outside of the car I've been following. All seems well he's aware of me, he slows down and starts to turn in to leave me plenty room on the outside. Then the dirty driver comes from 0.4 sec behind, bumps 1st place so he spins out in my path, I can't avoid and tap him so I get the 5 sec penalty for it. Dirty perfection, punt one car off, give the penalty to someone else.

He gave me another penalty later.
RsDiBoX.gif

I take that corner within the lines. He simply bumps me into the path he wants to take and the game gives me a 5 sec penalty for it!

Despite the 10 sec of penalties I still won the race. I didn't change tires in the pit so he was out of my split stream and without someone to follow he fell further back which gave me plenty time to scrub the rest of the penalties. I did lose 10 SR for that race which rewarded me with an easy win at SR 89 with a 20 sec gap ahead. What a difference a little drop in SR makes.
FwTc.jpg

That corner netted me another penalty, again as I stay within the lines
lmQ9NvE.gif

Tha car behind me taps me before taking the wide path and I get a 4 sec penalty.

I'm starting to wonder why people still drive clean. Everything in this game is in favor of driving dirty and cutting corners. You get penalized for following the effing track! I guess I'll have to adapt and start taking Tettre Rouge by going wide between the blue and yellow since I get a penalty if I don't :banghead:

Dirty driving only leads to easier races, if you get caught that is. There are no risks to dirty driving when you have the speed to drive at DR.A level. This is the SR profile of one of the dirty drivers that rammed me last night
GwTc.jpg

He has a 25% win ratio with 68 'K Speed score. DR resets about once a week. Why let these back into SR.S so easily.

Penalties are so easy to scrub on Sarthe that at least it also doesn't matter for me when I get one of those faulty penalties. Of course it doesn't stop dirty driving either when they are assigned to the right car. Pointless.

I had some 'funny' starts as well. Longest auto drive start ever. The game finally let us go after Dunlop.
NDr1jtX.gif

That took about a minute in real time.

One race my system froze during warm-up as I tried to type a message. Nothing seemed to work then after a long time the blue screen of death popped up, error in system software, report error, get dumped back to the ps4 menu. I'm debating whether to go to bed instead of waiting for the next race when I see the spinny thing next to GTS, it's still running?
6RpCRGF.gif

That's how I got back in the game, everyone's already gone. I still finish 3rd as racing through the back is my specialty :) Yet I wanted to race that pesky no-stopper that had been winning the past couple races. My 17:40 race time from the race I drove alone up front is enough to beat him, just not when starting 15th after the field has left doh. The last race I did he got booted at the loading screen, only 12th made it in. Easy win for me. Maybe I'll race him again tonight to pass that no-stopper.

Well I’m officially done with this week’s races and have concluded that Gr.1 @ La Sarthe is my best performing combo.

Out of approximately 25-27 races there I got 19 wins, one 5th place and the rest podiums. I set a top 20 time (#18 at one point), had like 14 poles, increased my win percentage from 8 to 12%, and increased my DR to over 56k, well into A+ for the first time ever. Overall gained around 13,000 DR across the two days and I managed to beat some guys I had only dreamed of beating before.

The R18 is a beast on that track and if you skip tires you can jump about 6-7 seconds which is more than the pace you lose by not changing them. But I will say that it can be beaten by the 919 with a no-stopper, as long as the 919 has a good Qualy time and doesn’t get too caught up in traffic. One race, I beat a top 10 Brazilian guy who tried to no-stop. The very next race he was back with another top 10 guy and they both worked together in their 919’s to draft each other and ended up beating me by about 3-4s. That only happened once, but much respect to ELITE_T90 and TurbopanzerGT for humbling me on that one.

Many thanks to all the amazing racers of GTP that I saw on the tracks this week. You guys never cease to impress with your skills, racecraft and sportsmanship. I’m going to give DT Gardens and Suzuka a shot later this week to see if I can maintain my DR there or if I’m just a one-trick pony patiently waiting for Le Mans to return, lol.

Maybe they're using CSA. Try using that and TCS 1 just for the heck of it. See if there's a time difference.

It's interesting you get that in NA. I'm in Asia on SR99 and yet I was still getting matched with SR/A and B. My last race they could only rustle up a grid of 15.

Last time I checked I can easily lessen my time by 5/10ths on average with CSA so I'm pretty sure I could've gotten a .2 had I used it
But I've moved on now and I'm a squeaky cleanie no-CSA guy :dopey:
I'm honestly surprised at just how big the difference TC 1 makes. I used to believe it does nothing because I can't see it acting on my throttle bar, but when I was struggling with the Lexus Gr.3 on BmB Infield one time I used it as a last resort since I hate how TC 2 works, and bam I was instantly more consistent. It feels like it's doing just enough to keep the car stable, but not enough for it to show on the throttle bar. Although, it does cost a bit since I was a tenth slower on average

What time is that at? I have had that happen in NA as well from 2 am EST (11 pm PST). SR.A The SR range starts to widen to fill up the room. Early morning you might see SR.B to SR.S in a grid of a low as 13. It's happening more often now that the races are weekly.

Matchmaking still had enough to split 80 to 99 into two rooms. The room wasn't full though.

Good to know. I assume a bunch of the fastest people are probably using it, then. It's like assuming that the top 10 guys whose replays you can't see are probably cutting corners.
